DonMustafa: I am not supporting Nigeria's evil federalism that steals states resources. I am angry with Bayelsa leaders who keep stealing what they get rather than provide for their people.
Assuming they used what they get to make Bayelsa good, then people will be saying what if they had 100% resource control, bayelsa will be Geneva. But, based on the crop of leaders they have, if you like give them resource control, dem go still thief am Did you smoke Igbo? To start with, do you know under what conditions the people of Bayelsa took over their state in 1999? To show how devilish and evil you are, you've not talked about Nigeria that has been plundering Bayelsa since the mid 50s. Bayelsa has been a state since 1995, it was not until 1999 the first indigen governed the state. Construction cost in Bayelsa are up to 5 times higher than many other parts of Nigeria. For close to 50 years Nigeria refused to give Bayelsa electricity while their gas was being used to supply Lagos electricity. The gas turbine Bayelsa has was bought by the state government. Upon that, Nigeria refused to allow Bayelsa control the distribution of her generated electricity. Rather they forced her to supply it to the national grid. Now diverting the electricity they failed to provide for Bayelsa to other states in Nigeria. Tomorrow, people like you will say you went Bayelsa and didn't enjoy 24 hour power supply and question the integrity of Bayelsa's leaders. Nigeria is where it is because hypocrites like you, you want to praise those that have looted at the national level for decades and want us to demonize people that only have access to peanuts and leave those that are looting right from the source. |

DonMustafa: Bayelsa should be a unique case study of "Direct Failure Of The State Government To Its Own People"
How can a very small state, with very few population, that gets one of the highest federal allocation be so impoverished and under developed? Bayelsa ought to be the Kuwait or Qatar of Nigeria
Oh I forgot. The Ijaws are entitled people. They only care about their belly and peanuts given to them when they harass oil companies in their area. They never think of tomorrow Something is wrong with you! I wonder which Bush you came from. If Ijaw people are "entitled ", "entitled " to who? What makes you think you that Nigeria deserves Bayelsa's oil wealth? Out of Nigeria's 36 states Bayelsa is the only state that the Central government didn't connect to the National grid. That Bayelsa has electricity today is the SOLE effort of the state. Qatar that you use as a reference has 100 percent of her oil and gas assets to herself. Bayelsa's own resources are being plundered by politicians in Abuja not Bayelsa. Some of you are supporting Nigeria's evil acts, if tomorrow you and your families start reaping the rewards you would start asking questions. The fact they have to 'harass ' oil companies for peanuts is shame on the country called Nigeria. |

My job took me to Bayelsa state regularly when I was in the field. With those clues, you should have fairly good knowledge the possible sectors i am in. By writing Bayelsians refers to Bayelsa people. You can add it to your lexicons. Yes, GEJ was rejected by Nigerians and please get over it. Same people that advocated that he should direct the helm of affairs after the demise of Yar'adua, later on rejected him. That should speak volume and depth to you. Nigeria became a fraud when GEJ lose the election in 2015 but 2011 when he won, it was free and fair. Quite on the contrary I am happy he is not serving an ungrateful country like Nigeria. If Jonathan was in office till may 29th 2019, he would have managed the economy well and the incompetent thieves would have had a lot to feast on. God being kind, they sent him away because they wanted to loot the oil wealth and share acreage amongst themselves but papa God wey no dey sleep say na lie dem talk! You think when Patience said, " deris God" it was in vain? Nigeria NEVER see something! This just testing the mic! If other countries are implementing his development plan and grow exponentially, why should he want to govern you at all cost? QMNIX: You are free to say whatever, the facts are GEJ ushered the likes of PMB to government which was never an option. The simple saying "when the desirable isn't available, the available becomes desirable." Be rational, why would OBJ, Atiku, Prof. Wole Soyinka and Tinubu, those personalities that don't see eye to eye will agree to boot GEJ out for PMB? Is because GEJ made them paranoid to that extent.
What may shock people like you that live in a bubble is that PMB will win GEJ in a free and fair election for the second time. The truth is GEJ is no leader.
Lessons from GEJ government: leaders are made, not born. Growing up without shoes, doesn't mean he will understand and care for the poor when he is selected as a leader. The problems of your people don't just disappear because your tribes man is at the helm of affairs (ask Bayelsians and niger deltans, they know better), it actually dampen your voices to agitate against marginalization. No, Nigerians and their power drunk elites like Wole Soyinka, Rotimi Amaechi, Bola Tinubu, etc caused it. Under Jonathan, despite all the traps these evil elites set, Jonathan was able to boost power generation to at least 5,000 mw, double what he met. Nigeria's growth was amongst the top 10 in the world. Foreign Direct Investment was next to none in the whole of Africa. Today even Ghana attracts more FDI than Nigeria. Local content bill was passed, employment increased. You can't even spell Bayelsa and you want to tell me what the people of Bayelsa think! If told to point Bayelsa on a map, you probably won't know where it is. By the way, who told you Nigeria's presidency was the people of Bayelsa or the Ijaw nation's primary problem? Before Biafra, Boro declared Niger Delta republic. Think of that! The reason people like you are up against Jonathan has NOTHING to do with performance, it is ALL about ethnicity. We know that, you can keep on deceiving yourself, if not for any other thing, I am glad the 2015 and 2019 elections have proven beyond any reasonable doubt that Nigeria is a fraud, a fraud the Fulani and Yoruba elite hope to manipulate perpetually for their personal benefit. |

Why can't they tow the line of investigating those who could have forged late Yar'Adua's signature in Saudi Arabia? No, that would expose Fulani people who happen to be part of this government as corrupt! The primary purpose of this act is to prove to the gullible that Buhari's administration tried to halt the payment of this money, the truth is, they will still have to pay it because, being the ethnic extremists that they are, they will rather let Nigeria lose almost 10 billion dollars than let core Northern Muslims pay for the crime they committed. |

BluntTheApostle: This was what Charles Soludo said before the 2015 presidential election:
The presidential election next month will be won by either Buhari or Jonathan. For either, it is likely to be a pyrrhic victory. None of them will be able to deliver on the fantastic promises being made on the economy, and if oil prices remain below $60, I see very difficult months ahead, with possible heady collisions with labour, civil society, and indeed the citizenry. To be sure, the presidential election will not be decided by the quality of ‘issues’ or promises canvassed by the candidates. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/01/buhari-vs-jonathan-beyond-election-charles-soludo/
As you can see, even if it were GEJ that won that election, we would still have suffered. It was inevitable because past leaders, including GEJ failed to diversify the economy away from oil dependence.
And remember, that prospect even worsened when the oil price fell far below 60 dollars.
Now, you all blame Buhari for years of damage. You want 16 or more years of damage forgotten, and expect Buhari to perform miracle in 8 years with very limited funds.
You want to forget the past just like that? Is that how you run your own life? Tell me just one thing Buhari has done to correct that 'damage'! How can you undo 'damage' in conjunction with the same people you claim did the damage for 16 years or more? You Buhari people hate the truth. |

Timil: I don't know why you people always reason down tribal lines.
Rather than being objective you will choose to be subjective despite the fact that the truth is staring right at you.
We know you easterners love GEJ and you can donate your life for him on the altar of sacrifice but was GEJ ever a good president? No. Is Buhari a good president and will he ever be a good president? No.
Buhari and GEJ are birds of the same feathers. The best president Nigeria has ever produced still remains Musa Yar adua.
Get that to your heads.
As for Reno Omokri, we all know he's a sycophant who is only critical of Buhari and his government simply because his pay masters ain't in power anymore.
APC is not better neither is PDP and there's no greater evil between these two.
Evil is evil so Reno Omokri should F up, when he starts criticizing PDP and GEJ same way he's critical of APC and Buhari then I will take him serious. So it is Tinubu supporters that are being subjective? It is now I know most of you are truly stupid! It is more than 5 years since Jonathan left office. What do Easterners have to gain supporting him if their support wasn't based on principles? People could easily get into Buhari's fold for peanuts but they know he was not good for Nigeria and his actions or inactions in the last 5 years have proven that beyond reasonable doubt. You claim Easterners support Jonathan because of ethnicity! How? Does that make sense to you? Either you are being mischievous or very ignorant! Jonathan is Ijaw, Ijaw people were found in both the defunct Western and Eastern regions of Nigeria. That doesn't make Ijaw people Yoruba or Igbo! Apart for the Yoruba, Igbo and Ijaw several other ethnic nations are found in southern Nigeria. People like you are the primary reason Nigeria is facing eminent collapse. Instead of understanding her political peculiarities you narrow everything down to your biased, bigoted worldview. |

It is Buhari's fault that oil price cost next to nothing because of Covid-19? United State of America is recording massive job loss, reason why their some of it's citizen has defiled lockdown to protest the lockdown in recent week. The virus has no cure and is highly contagious, the world would just learn to live with the current realities. Our government is very bad and has failed us, but what we are currently experiencing today is CHINA's fault. People don't hate him! They hate the condition he placed Nigeria in. In the last 4 years Saudi Arabia and Russia built their reserves. What did Buhari do? Explored for oil in the North east, shared money in the name of ' tradermoni', cooked miserable meals for school kids etc. Nothing was done to boost the economy. He is the primary problem of Nigeria, not the virus, not the slump in oil price, not recession but a 'leader' who fails to understand the issues. |

QMNIX: Remo Omokri will play deaf and dumb to the allegations. This is one of the many reasons the GEJ government was voted out. He had no handle of his government, looting of the state treasury by his ministers was the order of the day, not forgetting the money meant for arms deal to fight Boko haram that was shared for PDP electoral campaigns, The cash (money lauder) flown to South Africa for supposing payments of arms, the list is endless.
I still wonder, why a country like Nigeria can't transact a legitimate deal to procure arms to fight one of the world acclaim terrorist organization. The GEJ government na guyman government; everything goes. GEJ government is the sole reason why Nigerians have accepted the mediocre PMB government because they did set the bar so low. PMB administration would have never seen the light of the day but thanks to GEJ that made Nigerians paranoid with a daily show of shame but locally and internationally.
That is simply the truth.
PMB, as far I care, you begged Nigerians to give you the chance after three or four attempts just for you to squander them, and your legacy in Nigeria would be brief because there are very few bright spots to talk about. The first term was marred with your poor health and nepotism (which is obvious to the blind), we do know due to your age, health and educational background you are grossly inadequate for that position, however, you have a VP that epitomizes what a leader should be by all international standard which you should be grateful and deploy to your advantage and service but you choose to stick with your kind and consequently, the reward is Nigeria today always playing catch up. The handling of the corona-virus pandemic by your government has been pedestrian, the palliatives handed out are just for show for the media. A lot of work has been left undone. No one would fix Nigeria for us, only Nigerians could. GEJ is NOT the reason some of you accepted the Buhari government. It boils down to things like ignorance, unbridled bigotry, tribalism, nepotism and the desire to have people from your part of the country in charge. He wouldn't have left office if he wanted to remain in charge at all cost and heaven will not fall. The reason he left was that he thought he was setting the right democratic foundations for Nigeria, he was wrong, 2019 polls proved him wrong. On every count GEJ was right! Fuel subsidy removal, sovereign wealth fund etc For those who failed to understand then, now they will understand in a very hard way. |

If Nigerians are going to lose jobs because Nigeria did not prepare but there will be less job losses in Russia and Saudi Arabia because they prepared, then going by your assertion, it's safe to say USA also did not prepare, hence the huge job losses being experienced there at the moment.
Despite America's preparation, they're still hit hard. So, cut naija some slack. Dont treat it in isolation. I know naija sucks but there are other countries that are worse. Naija and Russia aren't on the same level same way Naija and US aren't. Job loss is happening all over the world, only that some countries would just feel the impacts more than others.
I rest my case.
Snowland.. The US economy and the other economies are not structured in the same manner. The US does not prepare her budget with oil price estimates. Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Russia does. |

pmoye: You sound like an investment expert. I must confess.
I personally expect the price of land to crash in some parts of the country, but not the eyebrow areas. With the rising cost of commodities coupled with the fact that a lot of people are going to need money to meet basic needs, more people with landed properties are likely going to consider liquidating such assets to raise money, while on the average we might have fewer buyers of such landed properties. If this assessment is correct, then the buyers are likely going to influence the price causing some depression in the price of landed properties (not eyebrow areas though).
Oh yes, I have had a number of businesses in Nigeria for some time now. Yes, land prices would drop, I think the drop wouldn't be as significant as the drop in property price. There would be demand and supply for land. The same cannot be said about property. What I will suggest for anyone who will want to buy land is to wait, wait till the lockdown in Italy, France, United kingdom and United states is over. That would signal the easing of conditions here. By then Naira would have lost value significantly and as you rightly pointed out, many people will want to sell their land to feed or start new ventures. |

pmoye: Bitcoin. Hmmm. I have read up about it but I still don't know enough to invest in it.
My previous experience with the clash in the Nigerian stock market about a decade ago is still fresh in my memory. I invested a substantial part of the money made during internship in Nigerian stock market which unfortunately was being manipulated, only for the stocks to crash heavily. I took it as learning process and moved on, and decided not to ever invest in something I do not perfectly understand the attendant risks and how to mitigate those. Since that time I have never tried to check the value of those shares... Now bitcoin. Let's say I inherited a large deal of reluctance from my experience with NSE.
I have thought about properties, but I also suspect that the crashing economy will affect the value of land and real estate in Nigeria as well. I am more comfortable with commodity market and saving in foreign currencies. The commodity market is likely to adjust more rapidly to changes in the value of Naira than real estate. Yes, you are right. Property prices would be affected. I doubt the impact on land will be that significant. Nigeria's stock market will have serious challenges going forward. Nonetheless I wouldn't advice against investing in it if you understand what you are doing. Currently the prospects for investing in Nigeria are limited. USD would have been a good alternative but I believe those who have it are already hoarding it. Bitcoin is also not for those who don't understand it. Many fraudsters use it to defraud the unsuspecting public. Depending on how much you have, this may be the best time to start your own business in Nigeria! As much as you can, look for ventures that can earn USD or some other stable forex. |
