People like you who lack the ability to reason are Nigeria's primary problem.

In the last 5 years what has Buhari done to improve power generation? At least in the 5 years Jonathan was in charge power generation increased.

No, the criminal, illegal Nigerian state shares revenue as they wish. Official figure says oil accounts for over 70 percent of revenue but direct and indirect oil revenue is well over 90 percent of Nigeria's revenue.

I even make it conservative, oil and gas revenue is more than 500 billion out 700 billion.

The Niger Delta gets their allocation which is high compared to non oil producing states, they also receive 13% derivation, ministry of Niger delta and NDDC. I still do not agree it is fair but bearing the current circumstances of unitary government we practise, the government has tried.

This is a newspaper report not a direct FG report and what will the FG gain by trying to cause trouble for itself? Please be reasonable.
On the contrary you should!

The Niger Delta 's allocation is not in anyway high!

To start with, who are my people?
To start with, Peter Obi's records are there to show his source of income. He built businesses prior to becoming governor. Those businesses still exist.

On Tinubu we don't have any prove of any legitimate business he was involved in prior to his becoming governor.

Who Peter Obi is, where he comes form, where he studied are not issues of debate, they are out in public space.

To start with, Lagos used to be Nigeria's capital between 1960 and 1991. That a lot of Igbo people are in Lagos has nothing to do with Peter Obi's performance.

Tinubu left over 200 billion Naira debt with barely anything yo show it. Coupled with that, his company takes a cut of tax Naira paid to the government of Lagos.

Peter Obi left Anambra state with dividends yielding investments and over 11 billion Naira in cash. Human capital development index improved under him. Through his investments students from schools in Anambra have able to do well in highly competitive global competitions.

Taking a swipe at Peter Obi, Anambra state or Igbo people in a bid to whitewash Tinubu is just detrimental to you as a Lagosian because you are not getting the value he gave his people from your governors.

Wrong. Lagos is not VERY DEPENDENT on oil money.

Let’s take last year breakdown for example, from Jan to Dec last year, Federal allocation to Lagos is 152.4bn while Lagos generate 205.6bn in SIX MONTH ( Jan 1 - June 30).
Much of the so called non oil allocation is still connected to the oil sector.

#COVID19Thoughts: TSUNAMI LOADING ...

If you are a state governor in Nigeria and you are not already working round the clock, night and day, you are playing with fire. Red-hot, napalm FIRE!

Here is your reality. Bonny Light (Nigeria’s crude oil) is trading at about $11. This is half the cost of producing the barrel. Even at that price, Nigeria is not able to sell her crude oil. She has tens of millions of barrels of crude oil in scores of vessels cruising the seas, like a gala seller in Lagos traffic, looking for customers. No is calling; no one is buying. Nigeria is offering a $5 discount per barrel but who will buy when U.S. shale oil is selling for $2 (and no one is buying that either). Nigeria has other bigger challenges because it does not have onshore crude oil storage so she has to put her oil on vessels. In the last week, the cost of renting the vessels doubled to $350,000 per day. Do you see the picture?

Clearly, this has to be the lowest the oil price can fall, right? Wrong! Over the weekend, Canadian oil hit -$3. Not $0; minus $3. They, too, are not selling. Why? China - the factory of the world - is running at a fraction of its capacity. The airlines are shutdown. Farms and factories are shut down. Many analysts are saying that the world may not get back on its feet for a few more months. In reality, we may be stuck in this new world until a vaccine is found for the novel Coronavirus and a major percentage of the global population vaccinated. Unknot your tie, we may be in this new world for a while.

Mr. State Governor, why should you care? The world as you know it has changed and nothing has prepared you for what you and the residents in your state are about to experience. All state governments except Lagos depend on allocations from the sale of Nigeria’s crude oil for most of their revenue. The Federal Government allocations to the states started dropping off a few months ago. It will get worse.

About a month ago, I had a chat with one of the State Commissioners for Budget and Economic Planning. At that time, he was already petrified by what he was seeing. The cheque from the federal government was getting lighter. Sadly, he couldn’t get his principal and colleagues to understand that what they saw moving in the distance were not clouds but a Tsunami that is gathering speed. Many of the state governors still can’t see it.

Mr. State Governor, the catastrophe is close at hand but you still have some time to lay the sandbags. This is the time to get into emergency mode and plan for the worst. What will you do when it becomes obvious to you, in a few weeks, that you can’t pay salaries and provide the basic minimum public services required in your state? What are the economic choices you have to make today? What things do you have to cut off today to be able to tide over tomorrow?

What will you do when hordes of criminals take to the street, looting and killing people, in search of something to eat? What if there are multiple demonstration by different groups of people in different parts of your state? What are your options?

Who are the people who would help you maintain public order? I am sure you are not banking on the Nigerian Police Force. They won’t have enough bullets to kill the number of people who would be on the streets. It can’t be the vigilante groups. They may be the ones doing the looting and killing. Basically, how are you going to balance this elephant on the top of a needle?

Set up your “war-room” now. Pull in your best thinkers. Borrow from other states and outside Nigeria if you must.

Reach out to everyone who has a voice in your state. Your best solution may be to convince the people instead of through coercion. Decide who is in the best position to convince the different groups of people.

This is no time to be partisan. Turn this problem into a shared one. Don’t let anyone brand it your problem.

Plug the leakages in your system starting with the “security votes”. Call on the illustrious sons and daughters of the state and convince them to join you in planning for and in funding palliatives for the poor and vulnerable.

This is the time to plan and act. Act as if you are convinced that the dam will break. It is more than likely that it would. If it doesn’t, you are still ahead. If it does, you will be ready. Don’t be caught napping. It won’t be pretty.
Even Lagos is VERY DEPENDENT on oil money. No government ( Federal, State or Local) in Nigeria can do without oil money at this point in time.

You just confirmed my position, GEJ wasted the increase in oil price and reserves on wasteful consumption and subsidies.

In 2012 he had the chance to cut subsidies but backed out against the advice of his senior ministers. What kind of government increase workers salaries in 2013 and then starts borrowing to pay workers salaries in 2015.

Even you can't deny that GEJ government has no logic, only 5% of Nigerian work for the government so increasing their salaries doesn't even make political sense.

By 2015 ...
So why did the likes of Buhari, Tinubu, Fashola do "occupy Lagos"?
Wasn't it all in a bid to prevent subsidy removal?
Jonathan tried to remove subsidy in less than 1 year after he was elected. That tells you how serious he was about putting the right policies in place.
Workers salary was not increased in 2013, it was increased in 2011.

I wouldn't insult you and I am not ignorant.

You are correct that both Fashola and Amaechi bullied GEJ to access the $32 billion excess crude oil funds and wasted the funds on state consumption and corruption. The five power plants were all bought and paid for by OBJ government, between 2006 and 2007 and delivered by GEJ

But GEJ government still had access to high oil prices plus $68 billion in reserves and less than $5 billion external debts.
https://www.statista.com/statistics/262858/change-in-opec-crude-oil-prices-since-1960/
You clearly ignored the production output aspect!

Your claims on the power plants isn't true, there were several power plants he increased capacity from the previously planned output. According to what we were told under late Yar'Adua, $16billion allotted for power by Obasanjo disappeared without anything to show for it.

Under Jonathan there was salary increment for the civil service, subsidy payments increased significantly in the government's bid to avoid product scarcity, the CBN had bail out banks.

Blaming Jonathan for not "saving " is wrong!
He did all within his constitutional powers to make that possible but Nigerians and their governors refused.

Russia built up her massive reserves only after 2016.
The problem in Nigeria is that we are not one, if Jonathan was a Fulani man he would have probably gotten the political support he deserved to change things.

Is Angola or Eq Guinea any better than Nigeria today, they are both majority Christian countries with an oil rental economy and both fantastically corrupt and backward like Nigeria.

Remove the Fulani's and Hausa from Nigeria and Nigeria will still remain poor and backward as long as it operates an oil rental economic, the rental economy is the reason why we have many useless states and government departments.

Why didn't OBJ sort out the energy issues in his eight years in government, I will cut OBJ some slack as he left close to £100 billion in reserve and low external debts.

GEJ was an Ijaw, he had an Ijaw as minister of petroleum resources and an Igbo finance minister, how many power plants did they build despite $62 billion in reserve , oil price at $100.00 p/b and $36 billion in reserve. $15 billion would add 15GW to Nigeria electric grid.
You are either ignorant or deliberately trying to be mischievous! In the history of Nigeria no one has built as many power plants as Jonathan did in 5 years.

Oil legislation is passed by parliament and not the president or petroleum minister. That is the area the Fulani and their lookalike core Northern brethren come to fore. Diezani tried all she could to make them see the benefit of passing the PIB, all to no avail because of Fulani short sightedness.

You fail to also add the fact that oil output was down by a 3rd when GEJ took over. Politicians like Amaechi, Oshimole and Fashola sued Jonathan to court for his attempts to create financial buffers.

If the core North wasn't part of Nigeria, Nigeria would have been, at the very least, a middle income country like Ghana or Kenya.
