I think they lack X factor players bin the last third of the pitch.
Also, their football is 100 percent European and so they are not offering anything different.
West African teams are the opposite. They have X factor players and forwards. Also we west Africans play our own style shich is different from the European style and it catches European teams by surprise. We are skillfull, strong, unpredictable and dynamic.
In Africa only African teams south of the Sahara can win the world cup.
Watch the strength and skill of Ghana against Portugal. Tuniy cannot do that.
One black African teams learn a bit of tactics and discipline we are difficult to beat.

It's a coaching problem.
We have explosive players in the last third of the pitch
but our defence and midfield is not coordinated and disciplined enough to take advantage of it.
Imagine osimhen, chukwueze and Paul onuachu in Ghana, Saudi Arabia or Senegalese teams.
Our coaches don't know how to use our players

The problem can be partly solved if we have more natural midfielders in the team .
Players like fisayo Dele bashiru, ovie ejaria, kelechi nwakali, alhassan Yusuf etc should be in our midfield.
Secondly I don't think our coaches train our players properly which is surprising as our coaches and players are exposed. At least peseiro has coached European teams before

When you think of players like Mobi Oparakwu, Celestine Babayaro, Finidi George, Sunday Oliseh, Kanu Nwankwo, Jay Jay Okocha in a starting eleven. These players played with intelligence and flair. Also even our players in obscure leagues are still decent. Leagues like Spanish, English second division or turkey, Belgium or Greece are still okay.
Thirdly the players in obscure leagues in our team will only be 7 or less. They will mostly be midfielders.
At the end of the day most of the team will be from top leagues. I mean 75 percent will be from top leagues

In the light of the European leagues, it is definitely considered Backwater. But within Africa alone, we all know it is arguably the best league we have on the continent. But the point remains... it is indeed Backwater globally.

Point is there are some leagues in Europe worse than the best African leagues.
Leagues like Latvia, Cyprus etc are not as good as the best African leagues. Better to be in Al ahly than to be in soartak trnava in Europe.
A good African league can develop our players to world class level.

It has never been about what went wrong, but what keeps going wrong.

"You can't keep repeating a particular routine expecting different outcomes"

Every tactical setup, requires the right personnel for application.
A 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 or any other tactical setup and the attendant variations of them, require playing personnel with the right technical and tactical qualities to thrive.
Wingers required to prosecute 4-4-2 have qualities that are quite different from wingers for 4-3-3.

In the former (4-4-2 ) the wingers are directly exposed and in sync with their fullbacks.

They are to do the following:
* Provide cover for their fullbacks. this involves additional defensive abilities.
* Provide support for the forwards.
* The ability to score goals is not primary to what is expected of them.
* They must possess decent ball passing abilities such as the ability to give long balls, crosses, chipped passes.
* They make decisions typical to their roles. for instance, shooting at goal is not usually the first option for a winger in this setup, rather the winger utilises feasible options to make the ball available to the forwards.

In 4-3-3, the winger in this setup is referred to as a forwards or striker. The involvement with their fullback is more diminished because of the presence of a midfield trio, ipso facto They are expected to have more offensive duties than defensive.

The following is expected of them:
* Score goals. This is primary to their roles.
* Assist the Center Forward in many ways ( to be discussed later).
* There is more flexibility to the manner at which the winger contributes to defense. This is essentially a coach's preference or tactical approach. Nevertheless on the average they spend more time in the opposition's half.

In Super Eagles. judging from the descriptions given of wingers in 4-4-2 and 4-3-3 , it is very obvious that we are deploying the wrong personnel in the chosen tactical arrangement. For instance Moses Simon and Ademola Lookman are forwards (strikers) and do not have the required defensive capabilities and passing finesse to thrive as wingers in 4-4-2. They are modern forwards groomed to thrive in a front three. They lack the ability for build up play and ball progression. That is the job of midfielders. That is the job done for them at their clubs. They are usually at the receiving end.

If we must stick to 4-4-2, We will have to go for players who will not only provide good defensive cover, but also decent ball passing ability, players groomed for build up play, and patient on the ball.

This issue is the job of the coach. As a coach you are supposed to know the best formation for your players and the players you need.
Is it that peseiro is not a good coach or what. It seems we don't have good coaches

Our midfield is Terribly terrible. Iwobi needs the right tactically balanced midfield partners. He was our only driving force vertically today.

Empty banters won't fix our midfield but conceeding to the balanced truth of our middle game dynamics will help. That would be a start.

The continued Ignorance of Alhassan Yusuf is a crime. Technically gifted with high workrate.

The non-callup of Raphael Onyedika is a crime and disservice to our team. A lad who bossed a UCL midfield battle vs Atletico Madrid.

The continued ignoring of Nwakali as well is funny and ridiculous coz he also carries a tactical solution that will help address our middle game ball playing deficiencies and poor possession recyclings.

Aribo and Iwobi has practically alternated their roles alongside Moffi in the high press.

And how many of those passes have Aribo been at the end of? Truth is Aribo is floating and not in sync with his midfield.
It was only one time he linked up good with Iwobi to created our only chance.

And the problem of this game is still tied to the midfield. We haven't been able to keep things simple and create even a decent passing sequence to build anything of note.

We are practically defending with a back 5 and everytime we win back the ball, they can't really keep it because the midfield isn't coordinated enough to recycle our plays.

The wingmen needs to do better but don't exonerate the midfield. They have been poor in possession recycling.

As we have always said. We need to appreciate the natural midfielders we have. The ones in the second division of top 5 leagues and in the Belgian, Scandinavian leagues etc.
That is the solution to the problem. I hope our coaches will learn this lesson.
Greatness lies in doing the basic things the right way. Everything in life has principles and a science. A car cannot brjn without engine. A bird cannot fly without wings.
Without natural midfielders we are limited.

In those games we needed a midfielder.

Look the Nigerian league player does not understand things like zonal marking in football.
The npfl coaches are simply horrible and don't teach the players anything.
For example if in a secondary school the students fail waec every year then the teachers in the school are not good.

1 His all round play is too poor. He cannot even make a simple pass, dribble, is not mobile, is not aggressive etc. He is simply too rigid and poor for some teams. That is why he is not in a better league. However some teams in the top 5 league can still buy him but he needs a good agent.

2 we need creative players and wide players who can cross for him to score for Nigeria. Thus is why I think our coaches are not good. Get midfielders and wingers who cross and then use Paul onuachu. But our coaches over time keep convincing me they are ignorant. They just call players up without any defined pattern or understanding of how the player will fit into the team

As a student what u should pursue is Grade first and foremost. knowing and deep understanding is secondary. The truth is that, while during school u have just 3 months to read and write exam, in d real world things are far easier . Outside school u have more time to learn things that are important to what you are doing. You can always refer to books, internet etc as a graduate.

I am talking with xperience. I made first class by concentrating on grade. During NYSC I studied d relevant books to my career in details and became well grounded. And I did well in most job test, skill test etc in top biggest nigeria companies. currently I am getting excellent appraisal at work.

As long as u know what you are doing and not lazy after school, u can know whatever u want to know after school. But u only have school time to get d good grade. And good grade is very important if u you are to get jobs, scholarship, msc admissions in top schools like MIT and havard etc. Especially if u are from a humble background, pursue good grade with all zeal and power. After u graduate u can study those courses relevant to ur career and be grounded. More than 50 percent of what u learn in school u will never use in life.

PURSUE GOOD GRADE IN SCHOOL, YOU STUDY FOR KNOWLEDGE
AFTER SCHOOL.

Yeah that's the issue most people simply stop reading after school. To actually invent a new form of food storage you need to read biochemistry in order to apply the concept to invent food storage technology.
A crammer is limited to the exam room and after graduation his limitations will be exposed.
For example I am a programmer but got a c grade in a programming course while other students who cannot programme got an A but then they cannot build a software.
So you see cramming us only good if you are a life long learner but most people only read to pass exams and so they are limited

LMAO, you basically Implying that you're smatter than a high school drop out bc you attended Uni? bruh I don't want to be the one to burst your bubbles but you're not, all Nigerian Uni's are big jokes. I went to school to study computer science and all they taught me was pascal and statistics, useless things I already know. After graduating I had to learn programming on my own. Most of the people who taught me how to code didn't even attend Uni themselves.

The problem is that most people only read to pass exams. You have to read even after graduation from university. In that way you can learn how to apply and diversify knowledge.
The statistics you learn is good for bioinformatics and natural language processing. After school you have to do the research yourself.
Real education starts after university. You do those courses so you can study them for life. I still read my textbooks I used in school and I apply them to my environment.
Our orientation about education is poor. School just gives you a knowledge base to build on. You need to develop a passion for knowledge
