ekt_bear: So roughly $800 mil/year? So ~$4-5 per person/year? Seems high, no? How much do other countries spend to collect this information, per person/year?This stuff is typically expensive: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Census_Bureau#Organizational_structure http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/03/15/census-bureau-running-budget-heavy-counting-gets-way/ |
abiL: To all those girls && boys hating on her picture.... Abeg let's see your own. Post your own pictures on here so we can judge.Nice pic. |
There's a forum called kanoonline that I came across a while back. It's not that active, but there are definitely more Northerners posting there than there are posting on the politics and other non-religious sections of nairaland: http://kanoonline.com/jmqs/index.php/forum Some interesting threads: http://kanoonline.com/smf/index.php/topic,164.0.html http://kanoonline.com/smf/index.php/topic,5603.0.html http://kanoonline.com/smf/index.php/topic,5506.0.html http://kanoonline.com/smf/index.php/topic,1292.0.html (I think the starter of this thread might be Nairaland's becomerich/musiwa) http://kanoonline.com/smf/index.php/topic,1382.0.html http://kanoonline.com/smf/index.php/topic,2353.0.html http://kanoonline.com/smf/index.php/topic,213.0.html http://kanoonline.com/smf/index.php/topic,5455.0.html http://kanoonline.com/smf/index.php/topic,5390.0.html http://kanoonline.com/smf/index.php/topic,5360.0.html http://kanoonline.com/smf/index.php/topic,724.0.html http://kanoonline.com/smf/index.php/topic,3555.0.html http://kanoonline.com/smf/index.php/topic,1576.0.html They definitely talk about politics (local, national, and international) on that forum and have other interesting discussions like we do here, but it's not as active as nairaland and has nowhere near as many members. The last post on that forum was in July of 2012 so I don't think it is that active right now though. |
I meant the poster dimka. It seems that back in nairaland's early days one could be banned merely for "bad belle" and "attacks" and "counterattacks," which is funny to me. I wanted to know who this poster was and what his offense was and I upped the thread in case anyone who joined nairaland much earlier knew. |
lol @ how people are always "storming" places. Is it necessary that one write at least one article claiming someone "stormed" a place before one is considered a real member of the Nigerian media? |
Good move. |
I would have applauded this, but I didn't see any mention in there of the hajj. There should be no monetary support whatsoever for the hajj from any sources other than by taxing the Muslims who want to undertake the hajj in a certain state or by the Muslims in a certain state pooling their money together to sponsor other Muslims. Until the government also stops funding the hajj this is only a partial attempt at doing right. |
Evil Brain: I still remember the first time I set foot in an MFM church. It was way back in 1996 or '97, I was dragged to their headquarters in Akoka by my momsi who had heard about them from one of her born-again friends.Wow. That's messed up. |
*grabs popcorn* *waits for the showdown to begin* |
ocelot2006: This proposed air strike against Iran's nuclear site is not going to happen for a number of reasons:Well said. Netanyahu is just getting fidgety over the shift in the balance of power in the region and he wants to force the U.S. to take action, but there's not really any military offensive that should be taken. The pressure should remain diplomatic and economic. |
@ jantavanta, where in Africa are you from and how long and in which country did you live in Europe? Was it France? |
Dudu_Negro: What does our Sapele mean?"SAPELE which is today one of the most important industrial port towns in the Western Region of Nigeria was a small village belonging to the people of Okpe in Urhobo country. Sapele, Sapoli, and Sapeli, are the European rendering of the Okpe name of the village which is Urhiapele or Urhuapele. The hinterland Urhobo call it Isapele and the Itsekiri people generally call it Usapele, both obviously after the European rendering. Urhiapele or Urhuapele is a combination of two Urhobo words – Urhie or Urho and Apele. Urhie or Urho means a river or a stream, and Apele is a name of a Juju of the Okpe owners of the village. Urhiapele or Urhuapele therefore means the “River or the stream of Apele." http://www.waado.org/biographies/salubi/publications/sapele.htm (This article is from 1960, hence the use of the term 'juju.') |
@ Prof Corruption & Eko Ile The author of the statement claiming the town was founded by a Mr. Okonkwo was Danjuma Azemobo Musa, an Afenmai (northern Edo) Muslim living in the North. You can look him up and find his facebook page to see who he is. |
Dudu_Negro: Kwankwaso in Hausa means the lower back. Its use in the case of a village could signify perhaps a junction or cross point serving as important trade route.......or economic "backbone" .Thanks for the explanation. On Sapelo, I don't know how the name of that island came about. I'd have to look into that, but on the surface it does seem possible that there's some kind of Delta connection there. |
What are all the hidden posts? |
billante: You guys should stop being childish for once and look at dis issue critical and mature! Even obi is being childish about this!Hmmm. . .interesting post. So how are people privy to what is or isn't being currently produced at certain wells at the moment? Have people been asking Orient directly or did people go to the different oil wells and inspect what was going on there themselves? |
ekt_bear: Ya'll niggas trippinPreach! |
@ buffny, Samuel Okoye (Nigeria's first astronomy professor) was a Carnegie Foundation Fellow at Cambridge in the 60s. I know that's a different thing, but you get the point - these kind of achievements aren't exclusive to any ethnicity. |
shymexx: Not really... She looks proper light skinned, and apart from her broad nose - her features aren't really African..All the mini bios of her online say she was born in the Congo to Nigerian parents, so no, she wouldn't be mixed. On her features, I guess we just disagree then. Her features look African to me. |
shymexx: Light skinned, thin lips, and size 0...I don't think Oyebade has thin lips though. |
shymexx: To be honest, Oyebade represents the European/Caucasian standard of beauty...In terms of her body, probably. In terms of her face, she might be paler/yellow but her features are just as African as Toolz' features. |
shymexx: The complete package is the most important thing...Well, my numbers would be different , so naturally we would end up with different results. |
Sagamite: I look at the whole package and give scores.Wow. You actually developed a grading system. ![]() |
Shollypopz: ^^It's the make up u guys..."they" were going for a particular look there! With or without makeup on both of them my view would still be the same. |
Katsumoto: This is for PhysicsQEDRight, but the pics where Oyebade looks good >>>>> the pics where Toolz looks good, in my opinion. Like: https://imgmf1.starnow.com/51/2041751_3263506.jpg |
shymexx: But there's nothing special about her looks, though... She looks basic like the girl next door and there's something weird about her mouth - I'm not a big fan of chics with wide mouth..I know what you're talking about as far as the mouth, but even with that, I think she's still good looking and better looking than Toolz. |
shymexx: Toolz is better looking than the other chic... The Oyebade chic is basic - I see the 'Oyebades' of this world everyday, but there aren't many chics with Toolz' body out there... Sagamite: I would put both their faces on par - average.Alright, well I think one woman is significantly better looking (facially) than the other and like I said, I'd go with looks first, but that's just me. I can understand how some would prefer Toolz though. |
shymexx: I'm surprised you didn't mention "Cherry wine" with Amy Winehouse and "Bye baby." Those are my two favourite tracks from the album... Nas really poured his heart out on that album...Didn't really like Cherry Wine. Bye Baby was good though. Also I forgot "Stay" - that's another favorite of mine from that album. |
Just so we're clear, this is "Toolz": https://www.360nobs.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Toolz.jpg and this is Oyebade: https://imgmf4.starnow.com/51/2041751_3763194.jpg https://lh4.ggpht.com/-F_N3TtO80Uo/UCTgJVj6D3I/AAAAAAAAADs/DXef3UHml9U/RissikatHeiress010812.jpg There's actually some doubt about who looks better facially? Are we looking at the same women? |
shymexx: You need to check out the new Nas' album...Already did. It was good, although not really amazing or anything. I liked "Daughters" and "You Wouldn't Understand" especially. I don't know why he left "Roses" and "Where's the Love" off the regular version of the album though. I think people who got the regular version kind of got cheated. |
