@Ugasat
I have loaded this new version but I was out the whole of yesterday and didn't have the chance to scrutinise the bugs that were in the previous version. On a quick note I've noted that there is a new menu where you can update satellite list and contents direct from lyngsat (lyngsat update menu). I've also seen that if you press info button there is info indicating whether the channel is DVB-S or DVB-S2 or etc.
I don't know if Ilish found time to go into detail too since he too was out yesterday. May be by this evening he may provide answers. As for me I can't promise as electricity here is a very big problem nowadays. We have more time without power than with power. grin grin grin

@Don401
This question about 4 way diseqc switches (when u have more than 4 dishes) was tackled in detail at RDI forum. I know of the combination with a 22khz switch but was more interested in the combination of 3 diseqc switches minus a 22khz switch. I am 101% sure Kungu is in the best position to answer this. I remember to have found this info there but i didnt take it seriously until time came for me to execute it. I searched the RDI for this info and I failed and I gave up. I hope Kungu will come to our rescue grin grin

We are in the same boat. The answers to the previous questions are a bit confusing. I want to believe what Agitator wrote and I hope he is willing to tell us all necessary info. cheesy

@ Dolpaz
Agitator doesn't have the software for DSTV, MyTV, etc. He is just emphasizing the fact that people post their contact details anyhow forgetting about the dangers out there. He is saying that when someone posts a topic like that one about DSTV, etc everybody starts posting their emails and these are the emails that tricksters and crooks use to contact us with their false information. Hope this clears the air cool

Astra 2b is at 28.2e while Astra 4a is at 4.8e. If I am not wrong Astra 4a is the one some people call Sirius 4.

Did you see the post yourself or you think my response is for Dmote? I did not respond to Dmote but to a crook who must be told in straight words what he is. The moderator has removed his useless post. Why should we defend a conman in our midst? For those discussing Fta or Satellite technology thats what we encourage here and thats exactly what I said in my post.

PS: @Dmote sorry if my post appears to be refering to you. The target has been removed by the moderator.

The same post appears in other different threads of the forum like, European Football Thread, Jokes thread, Games, Politics, Family, Romance, Food, etc. This is stupidity at its best. A bad student of 419 grin

UPDATE ON INTELSAT NEW DAWN

PARIS — The Intelsat New Dawn satellite, whose C-band reflector antenna has remained stuck in folded position since the satellite’s April 22 launch, also had trouble deploying its Ku-band antenna, a glitch that may offer valuable clues to the board of inquiry looking into the problem, industry officials said.

While the Ku-band antenna eventually was deployed the week of May 23, it took hours longer than planned as ground teams overcame an initial resistance that resembled what happened several weeks earlier with the C-band reflector, officials said.

In a June 2 response to Space News inquiries, Washington- and Luxembourg-based Intelsat confirmed that there were issues with the Ku-band antenna’s deployment. The similarities could help in the investigation into what happened on the C-band antenna, which is now viewed as likely to remain useless, depriving the satellite of half its broadcasting payload and a yet-undetermined percentage of its planned 15-year service life.

“The two antenna deployment ‘outcomes’ appear to be related,” Intelsat said in its statement. “The investigation team will issue a report when it has completed its work. The satellite is operating nominally in all other respects and customer traffic is already transitioning to the satellite.”

Intelsat said the C-band antenna, whose deployment was planned soon after New Dawn arrived at its test location in orbit, successfully released a series of pins holding the antenna to the satellite’s body. But for reasons still unknown, the spring mechanism that should have released the antenna did not function.

Intelsat New Dawn now has full utilization of its 16 Ku-band transponders — 24 Ku-band transponders when measured in 36-megahertz equivalence — through the reflector antenna. The satellite is operating from its intended post at 32.8 degrees east in geostationary orbit.

With the C-band antenna and its 28 36-megahertz transponders now viewed as definitively out of service, New Dawn — owned by a joint venture of Intelsat and Convergence Partners of South Africa — will be limited to no more than half its intended role. New Dawn was scheduled to replace Intelsat’s Galaxy 11 satellite at that orbital slot. Intelsat has said Galaxy 11 has enough fuel to continue operating until April 2015.

In addition to being deprived of half its broadcasting capability, New Dawn may see its planned 15-year lifespan curtailed. A satellite is designed to fly in orbit with its solar arrays and broadcast antennas fully deployed. The placement of its thruster engines and the size of its fuel reservoir are optimized for a satellite in full-deployment configuration. With one of the two broadcast antennas stuck against the satellite’s body, New Dawn likely will require more fuel to maintain its stabilization in orbit, reducing its operating life.

The extent of the reduction to in-orbit service life is unknown and will likely be the subject of detailed discussions between New Dawn’s owners and the insurance underwriters that will be asked to pay what is all but certain to be a claim exceeding $150 million.

@Twinskenny
Don’t worry bro, there is no stress whatsoever only stating facts. grin And if you had tackled the issues above I would have appreciated so much. Anyway, I have enjoyed your lighthearted approach.  grin grin
As for respecting Gurus, I do respect them especially those that have us at heart. I mentioned Gadotor. He earned my respect not by words or pretence but by words and action. Then there is my Zambian Brother. He too has earned my respect because of what he does. So we will give respect where it is due but not collectively to all Gurus simply because you came here earlier than me or Sophiamore1, or Wiserfool, et al. This is not directly aimed at you Twinskenny.

@Enitan2002
Praise God that you had a friend from Malawi. Surely it shows that Malawi does exist despite the deliberate move to claim ignorance or otherwise by other ‘mentally r.e.t.a.r.d.ed’ fellows in this forum. Whether Malawi exists or not doesn’t change anything. The fact remains that Pidzo is here and will be here 24/7 and 365 days. I will freely express my opinion without fear of anybody, be it a Guru or not.

@All
What the so called ‘Dongle Riot Team’ is trying to do is not to force the forum to change rules. We are advocating for change of heart and way you so called gurus respond. Many members claim to have been ignored when trying to contact you people and when newbies try to contact each other regarding the D thing and other ‘sensitive issues’ they are shouted at. I once contacted an honourable member of this forum about a certain sensitive issue and this good guy said there is a GURU here who can assist me with my problem. He gave me all the contact details saying he was his friend and I should mention that I got his contact details from him so that he should easily assist me. I wrote to this Guru several times politely and to this date I am still waiting. Lip service.
Some show their ignorance to the whole world by saying that ‘this is an FTA Forum.’ No, only this thread says, ‘Official Thread of Free-To-Air Satellite Tv’. This forum has many threads. This thread is under ‘Satellite TV Technology.’ One can ably start his or her thread under the Satellite TV Technology to discuss ‘other’ issues not related to FTA for example we have the Psat.TV thread (is Psat FTA?), Startimes One Year Anniversary Coming (Is startimes FTA?), DSTV Mpeg2 vs Multi TV Mpeg 4 Which one is better (FTA?) and then we have New Morebox Dongle ALi3329C thread which was started on 13th December 2009. But because most of the people talk without knowing facts they say rubbish. Others argue for the sake of arguing. No wonder others want to combine being a 'Guru' with Nairaland Policeman. lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

These people will always do their best to spread fear. That's why I called them 'Prophets of Doom'. Why is it that they discourage the D thing when they have it in their homes? Hypocrites. Is it the first time that someone is arrested because of such gadgets? We will not be the first ones to have the D gadget, our GURUS have them. Some of them are also agents of service providers so be careful. They might try to prove a point by arranging for an arrest of someone. Guys, take care. cool cool
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 5 - The Final Part) by Pidzo(m): 2:24pm On Jun 28, 2011
When I previously labelled the so called GURUS as hypocrites there was discomfort in certain quaters. Others out of anger even pretended not to know where Malawi is. Thats past. Many self declared Gurus 'claimed' that we should contact them in private for sensitive info. What a LIE. Apart from Gadotor (I would vote for you as a true GURU Bro), Festucy, Big Phil and my true Zambian Bro (name withheld for obvious reasons) the rest are a disaster. Many ignore our knock on their doors. When others want to assist you dispise them. Africa!

One thing I am not comfortable with is you people exposing your Facebook ID here. We all know that here we are known by 'aliases' and it would be difficult for one to trace you with our African technology. On facebook we have more biodata that can easily reveal you. Please, send the IDs to each other privately especially if it concerns the much hated dongles and the like. wink I hope I am not infringing on somebody's rights grin

Greetings Bro. I agree that we shud concentrate on 'FTA' grin grin. Its not that the one posting about child birth was wrong but I feel wasting space with 'CONGRATULATIONS' is nonsense.
One was enough. What if all members decide to publicise their exploits with their wives, girlfriends, concumbines, housegirls, etc and all of us decide to be sending 'best of luck' to them? huh

@pidzo or whatever your name is,  in your country malawi i believe u have rules and regulation isn't? every forum every web page has its own rules and regulation,  dongle and cardsharing is not permitted on this forum you can rant as u long as u can,  one of the major reason why we do have backyard forum so that  you can discuss this thing,  but unfortunately you choose to abuse those who uve learned from,  well guessing from wia u from i wont blame u much,
@Twinskenny
Dont be a fool. What has my home country got to do with expressing my feelings? You think you are more superior to me simply because of where you come from? Why not talk issues you brainless fool? I have presented my argument and instead of arguing them with facts you are bringing in an issue of my origins. Pure signs of a brainless and myopic fellow. And you talk that I should thank those that have taught me, TELL THE FORUM WHAT IT IS THAT YOU HAVE TAUGHT ME. And who made you the moderator? huh Who needs more evidence that you are the captain of the group of 'FOOLS' I referred to earlier?
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 5 - The Final Part) by Pidzo(m): 8:17am On Jun 16, 2011
I have been watching recent postings and responses with much disgust. People come here believing that they will be assisted in the problems they have especially if they register. Unfortunately apart from the usual simple questions like ‘how to get Badr or can my 60cm be used for W4/7?’ all ‘difficult’ questions are not getting the attention they deserve. There is a group of self declared ‘GURUS’ that is making sure all ‘tricky’ topics are not discussed here. These fools claim this is a forum where we only discuss FTA, no cardsharing, no dongles, nothing. Looking at what they post it shows they are using a dongle themselves but don’t want others to gain the knowledge. You want us to be wasting time with useless channels when you are watching the best using dongles. I hate you self-centered and egoistic MORONS. You cant cheat me that you were born with total knowledge about these gadgets, why not direct the people to where you got the info if you feel this cannot be discussed here. See https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-200327.0.html and see how people were treating each other by then. Dongles and cardsharing were discussed freely with no one telling them off. There are forums out there that discuss and even advertise about dongles and cardsharing, they have been there for years and they are not being closed yet you always argue that this forum will be closed if people discuss these gadgets. Prophets of Doom! You think the solution for service providers in solving the cardsharing issue is by stopping people from ‘discussing dongles and cardsharing’? Myopic! Google around and see the millions of dongles that are being made in China, and they should waste time with Pidzo wanting to buy one dongle somewhere in Africa! My foot! Check the pages you will see providers of dongles right in South Africa, the home of MonoChoice! People should be told in open terms the dangers but allowed to talk in a ‘guarded manner’ but not utterly scorning them. Here cardsharing was introduced and proper advice in the next page was given https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-182209.576.html. Stop being Nairaland policemen or Self styled Moderators. Let the ‘REAL MODERATOR’ talk, NOT YOU big mouthed hypocrites (You have dongles in your houses and want others not to have them!). angry angry
