I don't think that's fair, having a low cn,not processing your forms early enough, then having a turnaround during the last months. KCC should look into it,giving everyone a fair chance at interview.

Yeah it is not. My friend (Stanley) in 2008 was selected and he never got scheduled. We were keeping our fingers crossed and didn't broadcast it until the curtains were drawn. No interview no visa because of higher case file number and people with low CNs getting the visas.

I was selected on May 1 2012 with 2613 CN and could have been interviewed in October because the cut-off was 10000 and I sent back those forms after a week and after 13 days, the results were rescinded. Not fair and that was the first scenario of this kind.Computer glitch huh! I am still alive.

The only most known way people with higher CNs get called or ALL CURRENT by August or September (although they could ship in more visas to any region and they don't actually exhaust them either)and I think the latter has happened for the past two consecutive years (NIGERIA ALL CURRENT) are when most folks with lower CNs do not get the passes because of no cash, didn't know they were selected, agent wahalla, forgotten or lost Confirmation numbers, fake marriages, fake documents, inability to defend certs. deaths of a principal winners,no more interests and rigors of processing, then the higher case number holders will smile and shine.

My other pal (Tony)that left for TX last Thursday had 1676 and was interviewed on Dec 10 2012. And if you had sent in his application by January he could still have been called sooner than someone with 8089.It's not fair but I think they respect the rule of being Current!

I wish everybody all the best and those with higher CNs too but keep your fingers crossed. Don't think it's a do or die thing. Some with lower CNs still fail (stories abound) and some go into America and still run come back.

Ferdimako: As much as I will agree with most of the contents of your write up this was what I discovered from my little investigation.
1. 6000 Nigerians warn the DV lottery, but only 4,015 submitted their forms as at today.
2. Nigeria alone is entitled to 3, 500 visa’s
3. Since Oct 2012 to date only about 1, 654 Africans has been issued with visa and Nigeria taking about 1, 120 visas.
4. the first 50,000 dv winners released by May 2012, are supposed to be issued with visa first, before the second release of Oct 2012
5. all Nigerians with case numbers below 50,000 will be current by July 2013.
6. this is the second time since the dv result was released that Nigeria is static? The reason is not because of lack of visa, the reason is to allow the CO’s finish with those that are current before taking up more issues
7. between Oct 2012 to date that about 800 Nigerians has been denied visa 4015 – 800 = 3215 put into consideration those that are not Nairalanders that will still be denied visa and deduct it from 3215 and tell me if there is enough visa for those remaining or not.

The truth remains that the next visa bulletin will take if not all most remaining DV winners from Nigeria. I said it from the first day that I am looking forward to August for my interview, I am not in a hurry and the DV have not stopped me from being serious with my life please all yet to be current should do the same, get busy with yourself the visa is sure, use this period of your waiting to organize yourself and do some certifications if possible.

@Ferdimako:I didn't say the repetition of 17000 was due to no visas...I said it was due to backlog of those with low CNs and who have showed interests in pursuing their cases. Was English the problem?

Hahaha! Little you, insult I can see. I wonder why most children in Nairaland like insulting people they don’t even know. My little friend, how old are you? Well, not to thread words with you. Check me up with Prince.Ogutum on facebook. If you must know, I am a script writer, a movie producer, an IT professional, an instructor and a lecturer. A man with a son of 17years is not a small boy ok? That some of us choose to remain silent does not make us deciles. Little English assignment for you: in two statements with examples, “What is the difference between doing the right thing, and doing things right?” You are free to google it or even consult and English graduate, if you get the answer, I will send you 1500 airtime of your choice.

@missbelle: Hello house,
I nid ur advise, I did not include the town of my university in the dv form that said one should state places lived for than 6months after 16years. I didn't know I was 2 include my uni town/province. Do u thing the CO wud bring it up?
Tnxs

As long as you’ve not leaved outside Nigeria or outside your country for 6months and above, your police character will take care of that. But when you are asked, say the truth. Hope this helps.

@Tosdem: plz the good people of this forum......I and my hubby we had our interview on friday and it was successful as the CO said, this is what really happen we went to embassy with naira cash haven in mind to pay for me and my hubby wen we gt there we found that the change rate @embassy is diff so this affect our payment so we decide to pay for 2 people instead of 3 but we procceed for our interview so after the interviewd me and my hubby the CO said is done that our visa we be printed in our passport but he said he observ that we make a payment for 2 people instaed of 3 and my hubby respond that with what I said earlier with exchange rate, and he ask my hubby wen can make the payment for the 3rd person and my hubby resspond that on monday and he said ok that our visa we be printed on our passport but he we return it back to us till wen we make the 3rd payment.wen we are going my hubby just askd CO whether they can alow him in whennext and and the CO said good for him to say that and he draft latter immidiatly that we should return on to embassy with the money.........wen my hubby gt there today or do he went there latly and he said all the security said they can't alow him in that he should come back tomorow,so this is my question can CO use to play that our visa we be printed on our passport or do we had a smoothly interview very smoothly.......plz ur contribution is hilly welcome.

Your case and that of your family is settled, you had a successful interview. Once your hubby pay for the third person the visa will be printed. Congratulation

@Husmern: the only option left now is to go with your parent and pled and negotiate with the agents to pay up their money later, since you are sure you warn. Because from your story your dad is already giving up on the whole idea having spent much when you are yet to do your medical and police character, so pled with them they may agree to your terms with God all things are possible, you have already made the mistake.

My brothers and sisters in the house please can we concentrate on more relevant issues than the issue of Husmern
1. I read some people saying he should call the police: Nigeria police are worst than the agents and no doubt they will play along the agents once offered something reasonable.
2. Some say use a layer: considering the time it takes to file a suit, will he and the layer succeed?
3. Others say call KCC: on what grounds and with what credentials will he call KCC? No case number, another email was used to fill the form, he is not even sure of the date of birth they used.
4. Husmern told the house that he checked the result with the agent and that he is sure he warn and that he filled the form with them, correct anybody can download the form and fill afterall it is free on the internet.
5. Husmern agreed #800,000 with the agents #350,000 already paid for nothing.
I am not trying to be irrational here but let’s say things the way they are, Husmern you and your parent have already agreed with the agents, If you are sure you really warn go ahead and complete the deal but, if you are not sure stop at this point before it’s too late.
I am an IT professional and I have experienced what most agents do, what is it that they do? They create websites similar to that of the DV lottery and make people to believe that they warn and collect as much as they could before you come to your sense and what causes this is desperation to travel to the US, it happened to my cousin in Aba and I almost fell to their trap after I warn the 2013 DV.
Mark my words, if they are real, and you are issued with your visa, be sure to spend up to 1.5m before you will get your visa back from them, mind you this people are very fetish and can go to any length to collect their money or deal with you. They are everywhere; they may even have their evangelist in this thread trying to win soul for them. Please thread with caution that’s my humbly suggestion.

@Tolubillion: Hello house thank God for another great month, month of goodnews, goodluck and goodsuuccess for those going for interview, to those flyin out oF naija and to those yet to be current i pray we shall all exploits to ours destined place.for we that re current but yet to see 2nd letter to be sure if we going for interview in may or june frm wat some member of dis great forum said after callin KCC it shall be well with us.and in all is it ture that all successful visa must leave before sept 30 2013 even if visa issue in sept.

It is not true, the only thing is that the fiscal year for issuing of dv visa ends on Sept 30th 2013, and the visa expires after 6months or after you enter the US so you are expected to leave within 6months.

@pator: Pls house I want to confirm from those who have done their medicals if they do X-ray for pregnant women. My doctor said it is dangerous for the pregnancy and against the medical ethics. Will the embassy accept medical report without X-ray?

If the hospitals have the advanced equipment for covering, no problem but if they don’t she will do her X-ray in the US. Yes the US accepts interview without it especially for pregnant women and breast feeding mothers. but you need the doctors report why the X-ray was not conducted.

thank you brother. I second your words. Most of us were introduced to this thread and they came in, became a member without reading from the first page. That's why most time solutions that will complicate issue are given, making the people to be more confused. I suggest we be more careful so that we will not end up destroying what was handed over to us by well meaning members of this family.

@Petsal: Hello house:
A friend has this issue and he needs a clarification. The name on his NYSC discharge certificate was written like this -Saliiu Damola Ayomide instead of the normal name which is- Saliu Damola Ayomide.
Pls house what can he do abt this cos he's been slated for an issue. Thanks

As long as there is no error in spelling of the names let the names remain the way they are, the embassy know that Nigerians bear too many names and that the names are not always arranged the same way. i have said it before on the thread, don't go and complicate things for yourself in trying to play safe. secondly please house i think its high time some of us use our head, if you find a page that has already treated your questions take note of that page possible write down the page munber for future reference and make research. i am not sure that some selectees have taken their time to read through the DV instructions, and if you are new please kindly go through what others have said before bursting any questions. thanks my E-Family i love you all while waiting to be current we shall all get there IJN Amen.

I am surprised you got such response from KCC, I informed them of my wife’s pregnancy with her picture and the baby diagnostics scan which shows XX on the sex and they replied me after three days that it is noted that they will put it in my case file. And I told them that she is expecting by March, and on Saturday 16th March by 12midnight my wife put to bed a baby girl which confirms with the scan result and the birth prediction. I’m only waiting for the eight days naming ceremony so I can inform them with her passport and form ds230.
Check well may be there is something you are not doing correctly, check how your words are crafted so you don’t implicate yourself. Cheers

tosdem: Good am to good people of good forum, pls I need an help on my marriage issue.during my first application I filled married wish is truth and when the result came out in may 2012 I filled married include my hubby and my daugter as a beneficiary,so what I need ur help now is this.......I got married to my hubby in 2008 but we don't make the formmmally what I mean by this is that we don't make it occasional due to my hubby dad gt late a month before the scheldule date of our marrigae and we don't want to prospone it because in our family with don't giv a birth to a man without paying our bride price and@this time am heavily pregnant so the family of hubby accept to make the payment of bride price as requested so we decide to make a parlour marriage not lousy no pix no certificate for it then but in order to have a record of marriage I went to high court of justice to make afidavit of changing of name to my hubby's name so ever since then(2008)av been using his name and leaving together happily,so when the result came out in may 2012,we went to registry to formalise it in june 2012 but on dsp230 we fill married in june 2013 but our daugther is now 4year old and we have courship piz before married also many piz we took with our babe ever since her 6th month old till present..........plzz ur good advice is needed here god bless u as contribute to this.

@adesojiaderemi: That is not a problem, go with those pictures you have with you, your marriage certificate and the good explanation you just made now.

@tosdem When you went to the registry what type of marriage form did you fill? because we have new marriage forms and same wife same husband form, in same wife/husband form you would have indicated when you actually got married to your wife/husband if you didn’t then there may be little problem. For example I got married 1995 Muslim marriage and did my court marriage December 2012 after the result was released but in the marriage certificate there was a paper signed and attached to it which indicates my wife’s age and address as at when we got married, that covers my son’s age who is now 16years. Check your marriage certificate if it is same wife same husband then let me now, was your marriage recorded in the global marriage website if not let me know I will direct you on what to do. Hope this helps cheers

megaprofessor: fellow forum mates kindly advice me.

I was selected for further consideration in the DV2013 for a second time after I was denied visa in the DV2005 because I did not include my middle name in the original entry while I had done so in the DSP form. the case was the a friend entered it for me however i had claimed in the interview that I did it my self ignorantly.

the major problem is not that. the major problem is that in 2005 I had wanted to pursue the process with my then fiance so we entered the DSP for as married. shortly after we went out separate ways and did not go to the interview together. I had written KCC that we will not be able to make it together because of domestic issues and KCC replied and asked me to explain to the CO. on the interview day i told the CO that we has problems hence we are not together but he disqualified me on the account of a middle name which appeared in the DSP form.

My problem is now I won again this time i entered single. my fear will they cross examine me based on the former married status which i think is still in their data base. House what are my chances and what should I do?

@ferdimako: Talking about thunder striking twice at a place! Say the truth and they will give u the visa. And the truth is what u have just narrated. U are so lucky! In addition, may be u go get a divorce cert.

Please house, I think it is high time we grow. The way and manner some of us write and advice some people and the way we are going about this DV visa stuff is embarrassing. As much as I agree that going to the US is a good opportunity we shouldn’t make it look as if without America we don’t have a future. If we continue the way we are going I will not be surprised that some who may be denied visa may end developing heartbreak and committing suicide. I will not also be surprised that some may end in jail in the US. Mind us US is not Nigeria and dollars don’t grow on trees even if it does there is a season for everything. This was how Trezeguet after his interview didn’t put –on his thinking cap only to expose himself and now people are asking if he has collected his visa, do you expect him to answer you? @ferdimako I think you need to be tactical, Gentiger had already told megeprofessor that his solution is not for public consumption that he should write…you suggesting to him publicly to get a divorce letter does not make sense to me.
Another thing is positioning of name: example Martins Tom Ada, Ade Martins Tom, and Tom Ada Martins are one and the same thing, if you are thinking of going to do a change of name based on this or throwing away your international Passport there is a surprised awaiting you, kindly be informed that the immigration will set up a panel for you and till year end you will not get your passport. Note,It’s not the same thing with those with error in their names.
Furthermore, please if you have a good job here in Nigeria do not resign from your job, go to the US get your Greencard (GC) and Social Security Number (SSN) and come back and continue with your job, I only reason that we are running away because no good jobs, but if your intention is to go to school, carrygo as long as your pocket is filled or you have a plan ‘B’, Good morning E-family.

Is a pity that the house is not helping others again, i have posted more than 2 question now, no one answer me. is like house select people in answering question, may be they are friends or else. i will use this medium to ask my question again
1. Visa passport photograph, is it 2cm by 2cm or 2inch by 2inch.?
2. my wife just renew her passport and is still bearing her name b4 marriage, hope no wahala? because Nigeria passport office is not making it easy to change name. i need to go to Abuja, spend more than 50k and is going to take more than three months.
please Guru in the house, advise me.

@Penticom: sure your first question about the passport has been answered as for the international passport for your wife, i will advice you to change it for safety. Your wife cannot still be answering her fathers name till now. the passport takes between 7 - 14 days and not 3 months. i did mine by November and it cost me 40k because of error in my surname. you can locate me on facebook if you need help on that, Prince.Ogutum, hope this helps cheers.

@Zerzer: (1) Your name written in pen by your principal has no effect as long as the name is correct. If they have any doubt about the testimonial, they will investigate it themselves. (2) You don’t need any affidavit to correct your school name leave it like that, and (3) Yes, your NPC birth certificate should carry your passport as long as you are up to 18years and above. Don’t you NPC BC have provision for passport at the upper right-hand corner? NPC is supposed to be the same in all the state of the Federation and other person in the house can still help. Cheers

@monsieursam64: Pls house, i need clarification on this; for those who have done npc's birth cert, pls is ur photo on d cert? Pls i need a response on this asap

Yes your NPC birth certificate must carry your passport on it as long as you are upto 18years and above, but for those under 18years there's don't carry passport. mine and that of my wife have our passport, but that of my son does not have passport because he is still under age, anything short of that is fake.

@Sunday: I sincerely gives kudos to the great nairalanders who has severely contributed to this forum.
Please, i cordially need your respond. On the day of interview, is it possible for the CO to ask me any question from my SSCE results, i mean can he/she pick a question from any subject in my result and ask someone? Secondly, when am about to play this lottery, i used my old passport of secondary school years ago. But now i'm with bears and others like that. Hope the CO won't trouble me why i dont use recent passport to play?

As long as the face in the old passport is yours and was accepted as at that time no problem. As for your second question yes if your highest qualification is SSCE. May be no if you are a graduate, other members of the house that have done their interview should contribute to these. cheers
