@marrylove: hello my good people. what is the duration of the medicals. is it six months or one year?, because our visa will expire 23rd of July. i will leave 4 Washington next month ending, but my wife and my daughter will be leaving 4 Washington on 18th of July.my question is that would they have to do another medicals before coming?. meanwhile, we did our medicals on 15th of January.

I will advice that you make arrangement for another medicals for your wife and daughter before you leave to be on the safe side my candid advice.

@Ournaija: Many thanks bro. What do you advice him to do now as regards getting international passport, police report, medical report etc? Should he wait till he gets his 2NL and invitation? He in is school, I promise to help him track events so that he can concentrate on his studies. Please help.

Your brother can go ahead to prepare his international passport but for other documents like medical, police report let him wait until he gets his 2NL and about 2 weeks to his interview date before doing those considering that they expire after six months. Cheers hope this helps.

@biggie1o2: @junkerhill you don’t need to worry KCC with email update now, my case number falls within that range 174** and I am sure there are others in the house that falls there too my advice is that you follow the visa bulletin until you are current then start to check your 2NL every week or wait for anyone in the house that falls within that range to announce the arrival of their 2NL then you can checkup your 2NL at the Website since you have your verification numbers with you. Cheers hope this helps.

@Ournaija: Hello house when will 2013AF000149xx be current. I learnt that most 2013AF00014xxx have got there 2NL. My brother is really worried. When do you think it will be be current and most likely get his 2NL?

The visa bulletin is at 14,500. If you are a Nigerian, I suppose the next visa bulletin by March and 2NL two to three weeks after. Hope this helps

@Gentiger: oayombo: There is no harm in making copies but hold originals sha.
My sister went with naira and they got their 'change' after the lady did the conversion. Me i'll advice you go with Naira, just do a 170naira to a dollar...dem go give you your balance.

That's quite a large spread. Why don't you get dollar equivalent from a reliable source at $158 instead and pocket some change? Just thinking out loud.

Gentiger, I agree with you, wide spread. But I will add that better a wide spread and you get your visa instead of fake or expired dollar that will be rejected. The Embassy only collect dollars issued after 1990, anything outside that you are on your own.

@chirpywest: For ur friend that is talking about authority not allowing u to return, just know that he is ignorant of what green card is all about. U are even more free to move around the world with green card than with only naija passport, the only thing is that u won't be out of the USA for more than 6months at ago

@chirpywest: Point of correction, 1. you can be out of USA if you are working in any of the US facility outside the US 2. You can be out if you have a good job in your country and you make them understand that, in the case of the second point you will not be a citizen within five years.

@edimop: A must read.

in order to access medical care. The device
will be implanted on the

Pls house.....am afraid o........

@edimop: I wonder when some Nigerians will grow, well for your information in Spain, children are tagged with computer chip for security purposes, and this has been around for over ten years now so why the alarm? Before we crossed over to the year 2000 people were busy saying that the world will soon end that all the money in banks will disappear because the figures will change, nothing happened till today ok.

@uniqueprivacy: greetings to everybody in the house, congratulations to all with success stories. may we continue to have good news in our lives with or without DV IJN.
@All who have had similar experience and found a way out especially those already in the state, please i have this mind bogging issue. it's about my relationship, my fiancee brought up the idea of we applying for DV lottery and i reluctantly agreed and we did applied for 2013DV separately as single, but i was fortunate to be selected, and have been granted my Visa. we got engaged last yr September hoping to get married b4 the Visa outcome, but unfortunately for me things didn't work out as planned, I mean the needed resuorces were not availabe for us to proceede with the marriage proper and now like we all know i need a lot of money for my air ticket and pocket money since my host is not a relative. The issue now is that my fiancee is insisting that i must go and see her parent and do the needful b4 i travel, but i have tried explaining things to her and she seems not to see things with me. I really love her and would go with her to the USA if i had my way, but can't due to the DV rules. she has really tried for me and had let go other suitors because of me. pls i really need your advice as to what to do. thanks for you anticipated response.

@uniqueprivacy: My brother, if you really love the girl in question, I don’t see anything wrong in going to see her parents, go with two or three family members so that she can be confident and will be able to visit your people as your wife to be even if you are not there, that is the only way to reassure her of your true love.

Usef83: gud mornin yall,@pjogutum1 and spoondar Thank u guys.pls d message u asked to write to kcc about my wife condition i hav d last month pregnancy scan result,or i she do a diagnostic test,n wat picture shud i send to kcc is her passport photo or her current picture d way she looks now.pls kindly guide me i want to know how i can go about these..God bless.

@Usef83: snap her as she is at present and attach her diagnostic Image scan possible with the baby sex. Hope this helps.

Thank you Gentiger for your observation on @mascotinme, you are not married yet you are informing KCC that you are engaged. Well I wish you luck, but be informed that there is a hit on you already and that is why KCC did not include your wife’s name. I will not be surprised if you are denied visa but I pray God to help you during your interview.

Bros, you don’t need to border yourself about your wife’s pregnancy. My wife is also pregnant and she’s due for next month. What I did was to write KCC informing them of her condition, I also included her picture and scanned pregnancy diagnostic result, and after three working days they replied me that they received my information and will include it in my case file so you can also do the same. cheers

@Sina AdegokeHello friends. Quick question. I put a Mushin, lagos State and a Ilesa, Osun State address as the places I've lived in Nigeria. Asides the police records/certificaion from NPF ofice @ Alagbon, do I also need to get one from Ilesa, Osun State? Kindly advise pls

You don’t need any other report Alagbon covers the whole Nigeria as a central CID. Even if you go to your State, they will still go to Alagbon so you are good with that. Except you have leaved outside Nigeria for up to six months then you need a police report from that country.

Please house for those who are scared that visa will finish before 30th September 2013 visit this website and check Nigeria you will be suprise that not up to 2000 visa's was issued out in 2012. http://www.travel.state.gov/pdf/FY12AnnualReport-TableVII.pdf

you will also find the number of visa's issued since the lottery started for each country that is qualified. only about 29940 visa's has been issued to Nigeria between 2003 to 2012. Nigeria will still be qualified for the visa lottery for the next eight (cool to ten (10) years except the visa lottery is closed before then.

@Yusmash00: My brother, how do you know 1,200 Nigerians DV's have been denied and not up to 1000 has been issued? Are you working in US embassy? Visa remains or no remain, All DV applications close on September 30. I stand to be correct.

You are correct that all DV applications closes at September 30, what this means is that you must have filed your application, done all adjustments to status, submitted your documents, and attended your interview. But immigrant visa issuance goes beyond that date. With respect to the denials, an average of 12 DV immigrants are denied visa every day, multiple this figure by 5 working days and multiple your figure with the past 4 months October, November , December and January and see the figures for yourself. With the issuance, do we have up to 100 nairalanders that have been issued visa since October? The answer is no, then think what happens to other that are not in this forum and given the past figures with 2012 as the highest visa issued what is the possibility that the visa for Nigerian’s that won will finish before September 30?

@Ojisalara: Any special thing having ur NPC in Lag? Most of us don't reside in Lag
Please my Brothers/Sisters do not border your head with the NPC thing, do your NPC where you live if you don’t live in Lagos it’s more authentic that way, especially in the locality where you were born.
Travel / Re: DV 2013 Winners Meet Here by pjogutum1: 9:23am On Feb 15, 2013
@House, talking about Visa getting finished before September 30 in Nigeria is not possible, this is because Nigeria is yet to fill up their quota of 3,500 visas which they have not been able to do because of denials. The highest for Nigeria over the years has been 3,250 Visa issue. Also since October 2012 till date about 1,200 persons have been denied visa in Nigeria and not up to 1000 immigrant visa’s has been issued in Nigeria since October 2012 to date. What is the possibility of fill up 2500 visa’s with the previous year’s backlogs?

@Packaging: if yu stay witin lagos get it done in lag n if outside lag pls com down to lag...

Packaging please if you are not sure of an answer to someone’s questions I think it will be better to keep quiet than give wrong answers. What is so special about Lagos that someone cannot do his NPC in his/her state? For your information I did mine and that of my family in Port Harcourt where I live. House please you can do your NPC and International passport anywhere in Nigeria, it is only mandatory that you do your police clearance certificate and medicals in Lagos, those for correction of international passport is done in Abuja, Every other document can be gotten from your state.

Hello House, please advise: I anwser my Grand father's name and my children's answer their grand father's name which is my dad's name. As such the surnames seem to be different though, this was what I filled in the DSP forms with legal proofs to support while their surnames in the Int'l passports are different from mine. With this, i hope there is no going to be an issue, except the hospital docs. Urgently await your honest response. Thanks!

this one na OYO ......thingz o......every details must tally all together....according to an Email from the IV centre in lagos..........@ temmy,adesoji,brightmon.......do justice

@sozen there is nothing bad in that, my friend answered a different surmane from his wife and three Children and they still got the visa as long as you have all your prove ready you have nothing to fear my only advise is make sure whatever name or surname they answered tellies with what you have in all their document, e.g police report, medicals, international passport and birth certificate. the CO will crosscheck it with your father's name in form 230 to see if it tellies with what your children are bearing. hope this helps.

Gentiger: Let me begin by thanking you all. You're all truly wonderful and dearly loved. I appreciate Spoondar, Kemzone, Temmy, Adesoji, Brightmon, Ifeanyi.Abdul, Jidedon, Adzovia, Tiwana, Bussyme, Gunners4u, Junkerhill, Honeydee, Remmy, ChirpyWest, Ibracadabra, and everyone not expressly mentioned. I wish I could remember all your beautiful names. Thank you all for the prayers and inspiration. God bless you all.

I left the house by 4:45am and arrived 5:20am. We observed all the necessary protocols and the checks and got ushered in. I purposely sat in such a away as to have a clear view of the white lady everyone dreads. I needed to inderstand her methods, temperament and ideology should in case I am sent to her.

She denied virtualy everyone who got to her desk. I realized it's not about the woman. It's about the applicants who come ill-prepared. She wants to be sure you TRULY MERIT the visa. Her question are not difficult but tricky and searching. From my interactions with her, I figured she must be a lawyer or someone with legal exposure. She asked me questions, more of a cross examination using legal terms known only to legal minds.

Now this is the secret to dealing with her. Learn forward and look her right in the eyes. That makes her uncomfortable and less composed. It's like turning the table against her. Answer her questions with CONFIDENCE even If you're not so sure of the answers. Maintain eye contact and be polite to a fault. Her approach could make you edgy and could provoke anger in her which always prompts her to deny without mercy. Keep a smiling face and raise your pitch when responding to her query. Use gestures too. All these played out to my favour. Above all, I realized she appreciates good command of English Language. But really, how can you claim to be a graduate and unable to make a sentence that's error-free? Let's polish our vocab.

Me: Good morning lady (with smiles)
Co: Thank you
Me: You're welcome.
Co: Do you swear to tell the truth?
Me: (Still smiling) Absolutely. I do.
Co: Put your fingers on the machine. I want to capture your prints.
Me: Ok maam.....
She takes my prints .....
Co: Thank you
Me: You're welcome.
Co: What's your highest Qualification?
Me: LLB, BL.
Co: Which aspect of law are you specialized in?
Me: Bla bla bla.
Co: Tell me all you know about a valid contract and what makes a contract enforceable?
Me: I lectured her with decided cases and statutory provisions
Co: Tell me the aspect of law you find difficult.
Me: I told her.
To my surprise she began to lecture me on it. I chip in facts from time to time to buttress her points.
Co: Have your original documents
Me: Thank you maam! (With a broad smile)
Co: I am going to issue you a visa.

There were two sheets before her. One was for denial and the other for approval. She pulled the paper, circled an address and asked me to pick my visa on Friday next week. I enjoyed my time with her. I am sure she enjoyed my company. She's such a lovely Angel to chit-chat with.

Congratulation Gentiger you deserve the visa hence the white lady didn’t have a choice then to issue you one. Your observation about the claimed graduates that cannot express themselves is correct. For those whose highest qualification is O’level, they need to concentrate effort on at least two subject area of their choice, and know it up to their finger tips. Thank you man good job. and for all those with visa approval you have done well, for the younger persons on administraive processing your turn to recieve your visa is just by the corner is well God is on top of your case and the visa is your IJN. Amen

Immigrants Help Build the U.S.
House please kindly read this for those of us who are scared that the Diversity Visa Lottery will be closed. President Obama said all on the 17/01/2013. Happy reading...
The President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, and the White House released a very important article about the impact of new immigrants on the American economy and the nation at large. They repeated that America is a nation of immigrants and that it would not be the country it is today without a healthy flow of immigrants who bring their unique skills and customs which ultimately benefit the country.

How do immigrants benefit the U.S. economy? They directly contribute to the economy and social diversity. How so? Immigrants start many businesses in the U.S. In fact, close to 20% of small businesses in the U.S. are started and owned by immigrants. These immigrant-owned businesses create jobs for many American workers employing an estimated 4.7 million people and generating more than $776 billion annually.

Immigrants are also more likely to create their own jobs. According to the Department of Labor, 7.5% of foreign born immigrants are self-employed or entrepreneurs, which is much higher than native-born American. That is not surprising. If immigrants took the risk to immigrate, then they are more likely to take other risks including starting their own business.

New American immigrants are involved in cutting-edge technology and many high-tech companies. Immigrants are responsible for 25% of public U.S. companies that are backed by venture capital investors. This list includes Google, eBay, Yahoo!, Sun Microsystems, and Intel. In fact, immigrants represent 33% of all engineers in America, 27% of mathematicians, statisticians, and computer scientist, and 24% of physical scientists.

Be4 the interview we are call to paid because we are family of 7 and I paid for 3 and during the interview we were called to window 16 and I went there with my wife and our last child, we greeted her and she ask of other members of the family I called them and she called us one after the other and she was looking at our pics and after taking our tom print, I was instructed to go and sit down with the children she she attend to my wife.
CO:Why did you late to go to school
wife: to her
CO can I see your 1st result
wife: no because it is not good so it is not here
CO what are U doing 4 living
wife: teaching
CO which subject are U teaching
wife: Bus studies
CO:what did you teach them last week
wife: we are on holiday
CO:what is the last topic you taught them
wife: office
CO:when did you do your marriage
wife: to her
CO:when did you have ur last child
wife: told her
CO:what is ur husband doing for a living
wife: told her
CO:where
wife: told her

CO:you did mathematics
wife: yes
CO:mention some topics in mathematics
wife: told her
CO:can I see your marriage pics? and your family pics
wife: no pics because we dont take pics
CO:is it with any of your family
wife: No
CO:sorry you are not eligible for dv
wife: thanks
Now, what is the reason for ineligibility? that is why I want to write the embassy today to know why we were denied? OR WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Sorry for the disqualification, if you ask me, I think you were denied Visa on four grounds.
1. A family of 7 paid for only 3 persons according to your story, Implication is that you don’t have the financial muscle to sustain your family abroad.
2. The CO already feels that your family will be a public charge and they do not want to accept any responsibility of your family.
3. No marriage certificate, no marriage pictures.
4. The CO doubts your wife’s educational competence.
Note: if you know that your church or place of worship does not take pictures, how come you submitted your passports or is it not a picture? You said you got married some years back, I got married 17 years back I have my pictures, at my age of 38 my parent still have their marriage pictures. It was all your fault not the English your wife didn’t have nor the CO’s because you couldn’t prove that the woman was your wife and that the children were yours.

@ remkay2012 Please forumite, I asked a question sometimes ago and I will still repeat the question as quoted below:
"I said if a visa is granted to a couple and later the wife as a principal applicant delivered a baby after the issuing of the visa, but yet to travel to U.S before delivering. What will be the step to be taken to ensure that the newly born baby will be beneficiary of the dv visa or is the baby going to wait for another 5year before filing for him?" What and what steps to be taken.

1. Inform KCC and Copy Lagos if you are a Nigerian
2. You may need to fill form DSP 230 for the baby and the passport photo
3. Prepare the babies interpassport
4. Take the baby for medi but if KCC say all these are not required, then the baby will be registered at POE in the US. Hope this helps?

What will be the step to be taken to ensure that the newly born baby will be beneficiary of the dv visa or is the baby going to wait for another 5year before filing for him?" What and what steps to be taken.

1. Inform KCC and Copy Lagos if you are a Nigerian
2. You may need to fill form DSP 230 for the baby and the passport photo
3. Prepare the babies interpassport
4. Take the baby for medi but if KCC say all these are not required, then the baby will be registered at POE in the US. Hope this helps?

@brightmon ok, now i understand. brother, there is nothing you can do now not till 5yrs time.
Brightmon, I don’t agree with you on this issue. There is something the young man can do.
1. Since you already have your visa with you, go to the US get your green card and spend 1 year there while communicating with your intended wife.
2. Come back after one year, for your introduction, marriage rites and marriage.
3. Take your to the embassy and file your marriage papers with the embassy before you depart to the US, the embassy will investigate the marriage and if they are satisfied your wife will definitely be granted visa to join you in the US.

@all, Pls i need a professional advice or betterstill a suggestion;
I've been an ardent player of DV for ove 9years now with no luck, recently, luck smiled on me @ th least time i never expected... I checked my status some days ago and realised that i've won and it has been a subject of discussion with my immiediate family.
I registered as single cos it requsted for my wifey and wards passport foto which was not on my system at that time.
To process as married with children is a risk i don't want to take and i know i have a clear chance of getting the visa if appeared for the interview on my own, i got to know that it will take me nothing less than 5yrs before my family can join, i can't be away from my family for so long.
My question is, what are the excuse i could give that will convince the CO.
I have a Marriage cert,NPC cert for my wards, the naming ceremony pics, evidence of support etc.
Pls i need advice/support.

My brother, you have a choice to go to the USA or not to go. Let me correct an impression here, it is not true that when you travel you must stay five years before coming back. You can spend a month as long as you have your green card and SSN and come back to Nigeria, especially for those with good job here. The only rule is that you must visit USA once or twice every year, but for those without anything here, those that want to study, or those that are travelling with their family, they can decide to stay for five years. Hope this will help you make your decision.
