You need to discard those metrics below it however the main stat is quite correct.

I don't find it suspicious because Ozil played just behind the striker. He was almost like a false 9 and he didn't disappoint with the goals. Sometime, it had to do with Gotze playing as the no 9 and while Gotze was dropping deep, Ozil would interchange and operate as the 9.

Personally, I think Ozil's best position is as a false 9. His movement and linkup play are one of the best you can have in a team and he would be more at home operating in the final third and only have to drop deep when needed. He can also chip in the goals like he did for Germany. I think the closest he ever had for Arsenal in that role was when Wenger employed 3421 tactic in the second half of 2 seasons ago and the first half of last season and it wasn't surprising when his form improved. I think he scored alot too although Wenger changed the setup after swapping Sanchez for Mkhi in January.

Ozil playing as a false 9 explains his goal increase, not necessarily his outrageous number of assists. What's to say that '10' wasn't just a '1'. I told you Transfermarkt has his stats in all World Cup qualifiers as 10 assists. I'm probably just dragging a non-issue. I get everything you are trying to say.

ESPN is a credible source enough. But I have doubts regarding the integrity of the data. Some of the numbers just don't add up. Did you check the assists total of all his seasons. Numbers like 143, 160, 189, 199. That's just Crazy. I don't need to be a genius to know that's a lie. Ozil is yet to make a single assist this season but somehow they have him at 21. Only God knows what else they could have gotten wrong. 10 assists in the first 8 games, and then just 1 in the remaining 4 games. And you don't find that suspicious.

I had a bit of a trouble digging up the stats for that particular world cup qualifying stage. But Transfermarkt has Ozil's stats history in 3 World cup qualifying competitions at 20 matches, 9 goals, 10 assists. Now tell me where you got your own 10 goals and 14 assists in 2014 alone!!

Those South Americans no wan dey learn English. They just don't give a damn. It's why you rarely see Aguero granting interviews. Surprisingly, most of his social media posts are in English, though that could be the work of his PR team. Fernandinho dey try small but the rest na zero.

Zabaleta was the only exception. The day wey i hear the guy speak, I no believe my ears. He was so fluent and could even mimic the local accent. This is great news. I'm so happy for him and his family. I thought the doctors said he was going to be in a vegetative state and had no chance of recovering. Miracles do happen!

In as much as I hope he gets back on the pitch in the nearest future, something tells it's not going to happen. Ajax are probably going to offer him a job outside active playing. Too bad, the boy had a bright career ahead.

I'm not rating Mendy just yet but I see potentials of him being the best wing back in Epl, even in the world in coming seasons, certainly he has lot of things to improve but saying he has average footballing IQ is too much of a criticism just to defend whoever they compare him too

Did you just mention Mendy crossing to Cavani at PSG?? What parallel universe are you from?

Crosses are low-percentage passes. You don't see Marcelo or Kimmich looking to cross at almost every opportunity they get. They select their crosses. They sometimes move infield to combine with their teammates. Mendy is not as good when playing narrowly but he's got vision, I will give him that. He definitely is not technically gifted. He is just another nigga with decent technique.

And what is wrong with having an average football IQ. At least he is capable of doing the basics. But for him to take up a key role In a sophisticated system like Pep's, he needs to be smarter. The lack of positional awareness and his tactical indiscipline are some of the things he needs to work on.


Mendy is definitely going to improve under Pep and might even go on to become the best in his position. But you guys need to chill with the hype. He is an exciting player to watch but he is not as good as you think he is.
