So because Boateng plays well in finals we should overlook his flaws and weaknesses? You keep going on about how well Boateng plays in finals but you seem(or chose) to forget it was his fatal error that allowed Drogba to head home in the UCL final of 2011.Drogba should have never beaten him to that ball.

Oh you mean the McDonalds game? I abandoned the game after Round 2.The game required a great deaI of time and dedication and i just couldn't cope with making player substitutions after a while. The scoring system was shyte and there were no automatic subs.Worst fantasy game i've ever played.I'm already looking forward to the new FPL season.

Lalaboi or Lalaboy? If it is the former, you should find him on the Chelsea fan thread.

Haven't we seen this before? At the start of last season Dante was a bit out of shape and that allowed Boateng to step up.I was impressed and was beginning to have second thoughts about him.Alas it was a false dawn, approaching winter break Mr Alago returned to his former self.5tupid fouls, silly sending-offs,losing concentration.A leopard never changes its spots.Boateng might put in a good show every now and then(heck even Senderos has his good days) but deep down he is still that wack CB.

CFCfan: Azpilicieta played well for CFC at left-back last season. If Filipe Luis had not been bought, Azpi would have been the first choice there.
I don't like meddling in the matters of other clubs but there's no way Azpilicueta will start ahead of Ivanovic at RB.Not in this life or the next.

I slightly disagree, you don't have to be attacking to be a good fullback. It's important but it is not requisite.Ashley Cole, at one point the best LB in the business is not known for his attacking prowess. One would have thought he would at least wait till after the Euros.I pray he has a rethink.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Offical Bayern Munich Fan Thread: 6x Champions Of Europe by pkasso(m): 7:14pm On Jul 18, 2014
No need to worry Boateng would fit just right in at RB.That has always been the best place for him anyway. There are good RBs in the BuLi.Tony Jantschke and Sebastian Jung are decent fullbacks.Oliver Sorg is also another option as he is strong and versatile. But i don't think they are ready yet.

Auf Weidersehen Philipp Lahm.A leader amongst men and the defining face of a generation.Unassuming, calm and reliable, there will never be another 'Mr Dependable'.Your professionalism and dedication was unrivalled. The image of a young Philipp Lahm bombing down the left flank with an elbow in cast is one i will never forget.Your international career was one littered with wonderful memories .From opening the scoring in the opening match of the World Cup on home soil to that heartbreaking last-minute winner in the semifinal vs Turkey at Euro 2008 and finally going out in a blaze of glory by lifting Germany's 4th World Cup title and it's first since the unification.Luckily for lovers of the beautiful game,we still get to see you turn out in the colours of Die Roten.Adieu 'Little Giant', your place in the pantheon of greats is already assured sad

Some people are still living in denial sha.I know how A40 is always going on about stats and figures so i've decided to give the Whoscored.com treatment. And who comes out top? Luiz. If Boateng supposedly had a 'better' world cup than David Luiz, how come he has a lower rating on Whoscored.com or are the guys at Opta also lying?
David Luiz:
vs Croatia -7.22
vs Mexico - 7.42
vs Cameroon - 8.28
vs Chile - 8.04
vs Colombia - 8.13
vs Germany - 6.73
vs Netherlands - 5.62
FINAL RATING:7.35.

Jerome Boateng:
vs Portugal - 7.71
vs Ghana (45) - 6.28
vs USA - 6.85
vs Algeria - 7.47
vs France - 7.36
vs Brazil - 6.6
vs Argentina - 7.92
FINAL RATING:7.18
It might also interest you to know that of all Germany defenders that started at least 6 matches, Jerome Boateng had the lowest rating.Hummels - 7.76,Lahm - 7.36,Howedes -7.24,Boateng -7.18.Even the number-crunchers at Squakwa have Luiz ahead of Boateng on their list.I've not seen the full Castrol Index list but i'm pretty sure Luiz ranks above Boateng.'Nuff said!

dayokanu: Go and start digging it and lets compare to a defender who embarrased himself in front of 3billion viewers that he had to start crying in front of camera

Luiz is the symbol of Brazilian woe this world cup

And the FIFA XI, bros you can lie o. Tournament wey never reach 4 days wey he finish? I am sure you were one of the proponent of India beat Nigeria 100-1 because you thought no one else saw it

If you see Luiz on any XI, It must be flop first 11

Like Boateng is infallible abi? Don't make me start digging up those Boateng bloopers.Guess who made the World Cup XI? David Luiz! Despite contriving to play the worst two games of his career.David Luiz was arguably the best defender until that point.I'm glad FIFA looked at the bigger picture.Boateng a top defender, LOL.Tell a top defender who has at any point in their career not make an official best XI.There's a reason Boateng's teammates contributions are more recognised than his.Or is there a secret conspiracy against him? 'Alago' has never made any official best XI either at club or international level. That shows how much he is regarded in his position. He's just a parasite feeding off the sweat of others.

Germany's triumph in Brazil is a good omen for German football, and Bayern Munich in particular. In the new milennium, a team from an European world cup winning country has gone on to win the UCL the following season.Italy(2006),Milan(2007);Spain(2010), Barcelona(2011).The Spanish side had 7 Guardiola-coached players in that squad, same number as Bayern.Coincidence? It's already written in the stars.Bayern Munich UCL Champions 2015.

I woke up today feeling like a world champion. It's been worth the wait. Those years of pain and disappointment are finally over. We've dispelled the tags of nearly-men and chokers. The players gave everything;blood, sweat and tears. My man Schweini played his heart out. Those fucckers at Sport Bild can finally choke on their pens.Jerome Boateng did step up and play the game of his life as i had hoped but I still have my reservations though.Hummels was a monster at the back.Capt Lahm reliable as ever. Kroos must be thanking his stars Higuain didn't convert but that aside had a great tournament.Wish him the best at RM.Yesterday was Miroslav Klose's last game.I'm gonna miss the poacher goals and backflips.Germany's greatest no 9 after Gerd Muller. Finally big ups to Jorgi Low and Hans Flick for a job well done.I will be celebrating for weeks!

A40: Schweini's conservativeness is the reason Kroos and Khedira can bomb forward to begin with. He is the glue that holds that middle together and he puts in the majority of the defensive work required in that midfield
Schweini isn't really known for his ball-winning abilities.I feel Khedira will be better suited to a destroyer role.I hope with Kramer starting today he will get the chance to bomb forward. And WTF Toni Kroos thinking??

A40: I hope you know this is the German Machine you are dealing with here your perennial conquerors. Anyway no be by posting for Nairaland. Schweinsteiger know as he dey always give Messi
I dey tell you! That was arguably Schweini's biggest performance in a Germany shirt. He also had two assists in that game if my memory serves me well.I've not seen anyone do a better yeoman's job on Lionel Messi since then(well, except for Godin and Miranda).Basti is my nigga but let's face it, he has not impressed since that cameo against Ghana.I understand he's not fully fit and is probably playing through the pain barrier but he's been too conservative and even Khedira has been more adventurous. It would be interesting to see a Messi-Hummels duel.I remember him shackling Messi in a friendly against Argentina some years ago before going off injured.I mean if he can stop CR7,who says he can't do the same to Messi.I pray and hope Boateng steps up and plays the game of his life.THIS IS IT, BOYS!
Sports › Re: Is This The Worst Brazilian Side Ever? by pkasso(m): 6:45am On Jul 13, 2014
Surely.Socrates and Garrincha will be turning in their graves. This team has mediocrity written all over it.Just Neymar and a bunch of average overrated players. With an attacking lineup that reads like a list of characters from an Enid Blyton novel;Oscar, Fred, Jô, Bernard.Flops like Fred and Hulk parading as forwards should be charged with impersonation and identity theft.I can't believe those guys get paid to score goals. It shows the level Samba football has descended to.A huge chunk of the blame lies with Big Phil.He chose to play player politics and left out deserving players in favour of his 'Untouchables'.It would take a re-orientation of football being played the Joga Bonito way for Brasil to return to its former glory.

So Mandzukic is off to Atletico but it is the Keylor Navas deal that leaves me scratching my head. What is the point in having two great GKs when one is basically going to sit on the bench? Perhaps Guardiola has finally lost it and is secretly planning on converting Neuer to a sweeper. You just never know with that man.Or maybe this was just part of a grand plan to offload Mandzukic to Madrid considering the fact that Atletico were frontrunners for Navas' signature.I dunno why i've got these conspiracy theories flying around in my head.

@A40 I like to think a CB is as good as his defensive partner.Try pairing a Baresi with a wack defender, say Senderos then you will understand what i mean.T Silva's absence was also crucial.I can easily count the no of games Dante and Luiz have started as a CB pair on my digits. The cohesion and telepathic understanding between Silva and Luiz wasn't there. For the first time in the tournament, we saw an impulsive, unsettled David Luiz making rash and needless challenges. That calming influence from Silva was clearly missing.I've always said that a calm and clear-headed David Luiz is one of the best CBs in the world.Loool you are making it sound like Boateng made a million last-ditch tackles. The team was already 5 goals up and a front-line of Hulk, Fred and Bernard isn't exactly the deadliest strikeforce to start with.I would like to see how he performs when he comes up against assassins in the shape of Messi and possibly Di Maria.

A40: Bwahahahahaha
That statement was a bit ill-timed i must confess but pinning all of Brazil's defensive woes on David Luiz is just cheap forgetting that Dante was as equally culpable.I could as well point to the fact that Boateng nearly gave away a penalty and was too easily turned for Oscar's goal but it's not my style.A below average showing against Germany won't change the fact that Luiz has had a great tournament.
Anyways, what a game! I'd have never had thought we would annihilate Brazil but that devastating six-minute spell was just something else.I couldn't have asked for more from the boys.Combining aesthetic football with ruthless efficiency. Also Congratulations to the record-meister Miro Klose.Toni Kroos was fantastic but i'm still sticking to what i said earlier. For the first time in a long while, no Spain, no Italy standing in our path to victory, but it won't be easy knowing that a certain Dutchman is also gunning for redemption.
