It is just so funny how Nigerian criminals are intelligent enough to commit these sophisticated crimes but not smart enough to keep a low profile. From the pictures and information i have gathered so far ,these guys were staying in Athol suburb, now Athol is like the hamptons of New York. The cheapest apartment there is going for like $200,000 not to even mention the cost of a full house. To make matters worse they were staying in an access controlled estate which had surveillance cameras and security patrol vehicles.

South Africa is a racist country where white folks do not want to stay in the same area as black folks. In such estates in SA,it is common knowledge that once a black family or group moves in to the estate, the white neighbors will watch/spy on them with keen eyes.

If they were smart like the Chinese criminals (mafia) in SA ,they could have moved to a remote location on the outskirts of town, maybe rent a farm and do their dirty deeds there without prying eyes but trust Naija boys ,they want to show off and live in the nicest suburb. They did not even own the property ,they were renting the full house. From what i know of Athol ,they would been paying rent of no less than R10,000 (N220,000) per month. Now that is a blatant waste.Even the estate agency that was renting the house to them could been the ones who tipped the police office off because only a few people can afford to pay such high rent in SA.

Nigerians are not the only criminals in SA but they the most stupidest ones (apart from local SA criminals). They like to make "noise" and be heard everywhere that is why they keep getting caught easily.

"The accused, Ncube Emmanuel (38), was travelling from Mumbai to Kolkata"
That is a different incident involving a South African national who is into "wash wash".The Nigerian criminals also work with locals to commit crimes. The hungry locals help the Nigerians scout for local "mugus" and introduce them to the Nigerians who then work on the "mugus" to fleece them of their money.

The names of the two Nigerians arrested has not yet been released but i am certain that they will release their names soon.

One question that baffles me is ; How were they able to print so much fake dollars  undecided They must have some sort of printing press! Nwa afo did you notice that they showed that some guns were also sophisticated from these guys in the report?

The ugly truth is that these guys were already rich if they had in their possesion 7 watches that altogether are worth R1 Million Rands (N22 Million Naira).Someone who owns such expensive "jewelry" will have a lot of millions in their bank account. Why could they not invest in a legit beusiness instead of continuing in their evil ways undecided

PoliticsNigerians Arrested For $80 Million Counterfeit Money by playmode(op): 8:37pm On Jun 06, 2011
The South African Police Service has uncovered counterfeit money to the tune of 80 million US Dollars at a house north of Johannesburg today. Two Nigerian nationals aged 40 and 41 were arrested in the raid.

Seven luxury watches worth almost R1 million and 18 cellphones were also seized. The men will appear in the Johannesburg Commercial Crimes Court on Wednesday.

UPDATE :

Police probe possible fake dollar syndicate

Police are investigating what could be a counterfeit dollar syndicate after they arrested two Nigerian men at a house in Atholl in Johannesburg. On Monday, officers discovered five large steel crates filled with fake US$100 bills - valued at around US$80 million.

The two suspects seemed dazed as officers questioned them amid the broken tiles and overturned couches.

Police said it was one of the biggest busts of this kind they have made in a while. “It is believable that more arrests can be made on this particular bust because we do believe that a bigger syndicate is involved,” said the police’s Tshisikhawe Ndou.

Officers also confiscated computer hard drives, 18 cellphones, seven luxury watches and a brand new Kia Cerato.

The two men are expected to appear in the Commercial Crimes Court in Johannesburg on Wednesday.

PoliticsRe: Nigerians Think They Are Smart But Really: by playmode(m): 10:43am On Jun 06, 2011
cap28:
Nigerians in my opinion are the most delusional set of human beings on the face of the planet.

How on earth can any nigerian say with a straight face that they are a nation of smart people when they havent even been able to throw off the shackles of colonialism?

surely a smart people would first of all focus on the right to self determination before any other thing.

I couldnt help but laugh when one poster mentioned the nigerian that is involved in the Gatwick airport partnership - okay for the sake of argument - so what if he "owns" it - what difference does that make to the average nigerian? does he have any say in the hiring and firing that goes on in that company?
Does his presence in that company add value to the lives of the average nigerian?

The fact of the matter is that nigerians brag about superficial minutiae that make no real difference when you take the time to look at the bigger picture.

Nigeria is a wealthy nation but  still under the control of  foreigners - Shell, Chevron and Exxon Mobil  exert massive control over the nigerian govt, the international banking institutions which incidentally are controlled and run by Jews exert massive financial control over our own central bank, lebanese , indians and chinese are moving into nigeria at a rapid rate and are setting up businesses, hiring indigenous  nigerians and paying them a pittance (with the support of the nigerian govt) and some nigerians still have the nerve to talk about being smart.
Where have  you seen a nation that gives prefere4ntial treatment to foreigners at the expense of its own people?
Can a nigerian dream of going to india, china or lebanon to buy up a business for next to nothing and then hire the indigenous people and pay them a pittance with the support of that country's govt?

There is a big difference between acquiring academic knowledge (which by the way is not that difficult to do, because all you really need to have is the ability to regurgitate information fed to you by somebody else) and developing wisdom and self awareness.  Nigerians are good at soaking up western education and extollign the virtues of western ideology, forgetting that many of these ideas were tailored to suit the western culture that they were created for.  Isnt it about time we came up with our own economic theories and ideals which will be more suited to our own unique cultures and traditions instead of being proud to be told by western academics how good we are at learning, copying and regurgitating THEIR ideas?

The fact of the matter is that it is so easy to  copy somebody else's template, nobody respects people who cant come up with their own ideas.  The reason that the europeans respect the japanese and chinese is because they are innovators and pace setters not followers, this is why they are treated as equals and allowed a seat at the table of important nations of the world.  Nigeria is a follower nation - content to copy and pretend as if that somehow makes you a nation to be reckoned with.

Lets stop this self deception and start looking inward, we need visionaries and innovators not half baked copy cats who are content to keep doing what has been done centuries ago.
I am 100% behind you on this ,truer words have never been spoken.

For me, i think the problem with Nigeria and Nigerians is an attitudinal thing not really smartness.Nigerians are smart but our attitude to life, work, situations and values is our major setback.Ph.Ds will not develop Nigeria, it requires people with right values and perception to invoke the desired change. If you notice, whenever and wherever Nigerians apply the right attitude the result is always amazing, be they in academics, work and business.
Yes that is very true if only we could apply it to our politics.

I think you would need to provide a better answer for the above as your "obvious" answer does not seem to work at all, at least for me. The name "Nigeria" may only be about 100 years old, but the entity has existed for about 200 years, and the people for probably 1000 years before.

The civil war of 1966 has little to do with this particular issue -- it is clear the same pattern can be observed even at the ethnic levels, all over the country.

He is NOT referring to the creative spirit of the people. He is not referring to the intelligence of individuals. It has nothing to do with proferring solutions which seems what many have chosen to replace this with -- solutions abound, we have never been lacking those either. Please take a look again at the contribution from others who have tried to explain this , eg. @: deor03

We have a PHD holder as President -- only this same has held public office for 12 straight years with nothing to show for all that time and money invested. We hired a former Goldmann Sachs employee as Minister of Finance last year and we all know the rest of that. We hired PHD holder after PHD holder into top offices and so far, we have nothing to write home about. I believe this is beyond individual booksmarts, and proferring of solutions.
Brilliant analogy Kobo, you last pharagraph sums it all up.

In regards to the general response to the thread, I think Gbawe misunderstood aribisala's message ,at the same time i think aribisala could have been more accommodating to Gbawe. This is a great thread where each and everyone of us can learn something from so i implore parties on both corners to be less aggressive and more accommodating.Let us share our views without insulting each other or our nation.

Another thing that irks me is these so called western countries who are saying the election was free and fair. The UK embassy is obviously awake and denying visas to Nigerians who are trying to go overseas and make a better life for themselves but they have not revoked bankole's visa.Bankole has been on the news for a few days now ,if the British Government cared about ordinary Nigerians as they always claim to do ,why can't they revoke bankole's visa so that he does not exit Nigeria to the Uk  undecided

It is the same way they allowed OGD into the U.K knowing fully well that he is a corrupt Government official from Nigeria who is definitely on the run? They said they questioned him, questioned him for wetin? Why can't they deport him back to Nigeria to face the Law? Why all the time wasting? Abeg they are not fooling me o! Once they have stripped him of his loot and kept it for themselves then they will jail him like Ibori  undecided

So are they saying that if well known Boko Haram folks escape to the U.K ,they will let them in to the U.K without deporting them? It is ok for looters to go an chill in the U.K but not O.K for terrorist.

The Western Governments (NWO) who are obviously GEJ's puppet masters want Bankole to escape to the UK where he can deposit his stolen loot to boost their economy.I tire for this world we live in.After they will say Nigeria is on the move, which kind yeye move be that when vivid criminality like this still exist in the highest office in the land.  undecided

My relatives voted for Jonathan.I warned them about the consequences of doing so but tribalism got the better part of them.Today those same relatives are the same people leaving voice messages on my phone asking me to send money to them.Needless to say i ignore 99% of those messages, they should ask Jonathan to send them money instead of disturbing me.As far as i am concerned they are on their own (OYO).They could have gone for a progressive option but they chose the option that will make them even poorer so they deserve all the hardship they get.I am not a fan of buhari but there were other better candidates that they could have rallied behind but refused to because according to their baboon logic of identifying a good leader : Jonathan is humble ,quiet and from the south  undecided

I have made up my mind not to give myself high blood pressure over Nigerian politics.Nigerians deserve the leaders the get.I think Nigerians suffer from the Stockholm syndrome, they always seem to fall in love with the same people who enslave them.I used to think there was hope for Nigeria but i realize now that GEJ and co are not the problem. Ordinary Nigerian like us are the problem of Nigeria. As long as there some amongst us who are willing to sell their souls for a couple of billions we are doomed.

I taught IBB was a wasteful spender but i am sure that we can all agree that no one tops GEJ when its comes to waste and corruption. At the rate at which Nigeria is going ,if the status quo does not change , Zimbabwe will look like a 5 star hotel when compared to Nigeria.

The election is over.

It is time to focus on rebuilding Nigeria. Its time for ACF to pay more attention on how to educate their own, feed the poor etc.

There is no need engaging in politics for the sake of it.

Election is over. ACF is not a political party!!!
While one cannot be sure how true this news is ,we can all agree that the northern leaders do not want their people to be educated. All these years that they have been in power ,they did not make any strong move to get their people educated so do not expect them to start now. They want their folks to remain ignorant so that they can use them to cause mayhem.

The way Nigeria is going ,i think GEJ should allow civilians especially in the south to own licensed firearms. The south is at a disadvantage because the northerners have the highest population in the military.Allowing Nigerians especially southerners to own licensed firearms may just be a way to deter any funny moves the northern cabals maybe planning.Of course allowing the populace to own firearms also has its disadvantages.

Playmode, You may want to keep up with what is really happening in your new home with this blog:

http://madlove4sa..com/
You are still having sleepless nights about South Africa  undecided Like Kobo told the other guy don't you have anything better to do  undecided I wonder why you spend so much energy comparing SA to Nigeria even though the topic of this thread has nothing to do with SA.You asked an irrelevant question and i gave you a befitting answer.Since the begining of this thread you have not addressed the the topic instead you have continued to display your obvious obsession with SA.Funny that you call SA my new home.I guess it is a crime now for any Nigerian to feel compasion and display disgust for the terrible conditions Nigerians are facing today despite all resources we have.I have not read anywhere where you said you felt sorry for those people in the Aljazeera video.

Instead your comments have illustrated to everyone on this thread that you consider their situation to be of no BIG DEAL shocked

This the typical trait that many Nigerians posess.Instead of admitting our problems and asking questions or delibrati8ng about what Government are going to do about the condition of our poor you are busy embeding SA videos.

I will not even get in the argument of SA this ,SA that with you but i will ask you some questions:

IS the original post about South Africa ? NO

Are the people in the OP videos South Africans? NO

Was the title of the video witness - Johannesburg? NO

So what is up with all the SA Agro ,you say you have visited some of those places.I seriously doubt that considering how obsessed you are with SA.Are you saying that because SA Government has not attended to the needs of some of it's people still living in township,Nigerian Government must also not help its poor  undecided What is your point exactly in relation to the topic of THIS THREAD ?

Your argument holds no water here because the topic of the thread is not SA vs Nigeria.

In the previous page you posted a lot of irrelevant videos, videos that that had to do with racism and the SA Government's BEE programs  undecided .I was like what the f8ck,what has that even got to do with anythinghuh Feel free to post more videos ,the fact is the topic has nothing to with SA so this is just turning into an attention seeking circus now.

PoliticsSpeaker Bankole's Fraud: Details Of Accounts Emerge by playmode(op): 2:56pm On May 31, 2011
As officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission get ready to interrogate outgoing Speaker Dimeji Bankole of the House of Representatives, Saharareporters has identified the United Bank of Africa domiciliary and local account numbers through which the legislator moved some $1 billion of stolen funds.

Two days ago, Saharareporters had broken the story about Mr. Bankole’s involvement in one of Nigeria’s biggest episodes of corruption. Following our report, an aide of Mr. Bankole’s told Saharareporters that the EFCC had finally summoned the former speaker to come to the agency’s headquarters tomorrow for interrogation.

Meanwhile, sources at UBA and EFCC disclosed to us that Mr. Bankole had used two account numbers for his massive money laundering schemes. One account, originally tagged “House Recurrent Account,” is numbered 0039-0070-0000-18, while the second has the number 0039-0050-0000-25. The second account was simply tagged "Office of the Speaker."

A source who is familiar with the case revealed that Mr. Bankole hijacked the domiciliary account "0039-0050-0000-25" and used it for personal purposes. In August 2008, Mr. Bankole forced the accountant at the National Assembly to withdraw his signature from the and then made one "Adenekan Gbadebo" the sole signatory.

SaharaReporters investigations show that the federal government, under both Umaru Yar'Adua and Goodluck Jonathan, paid huge sums of monies into the two accounts for Mr. Bankole who became the Speaker of the Lower House in 2007 after his predecessor, Patricia Etteh, was herself forced out on account of her excessive spending on her official quarters.

Our sources say several accounts are being held in trust for Mr. Bankole at UBA where he has been perpetrating these frauds, and where he seems to have enjoyed inside help at the topmost levels.

On January 24 2011, for instance, the Accountant General of the Federation deposited N15.389 billion into the "House Recurrent Account." Two days later, that money disappeared without trace.  On January 26, N5 billion was moved from the account, and on February 8, another N10 billion similarly disappeared.

The maze of Mr. Bankole’s financial maneuvers continued as the Speaker secured a N10.380 billion loan from the UBA with an interest rate of 15%, management fee of 1.0% and processing fee of 2.5%. Curiously, that “loan” essentially disappeared as soon as it was released.

News of Mr. Bankole’s financial schemes soon leaked to some of his colleagues who became suspicious that he was involved in money laundering. A group of legislators led by Dino Melaye blew the whistle on Bankole’s scams.

Two aides of Mr. Bankole confirmed to SaharaReporters today that he has officially received an invitation to appear before the EFCC on Tuesday. He is expected to face EFCC investigators to explain how he personalized and defrauded the Nigerian state of hundreds of millions of dollars through several accounts opened at the UBA in 2008.

EFCC investigations show that Bankole has spent some of the corruptly acquired funds to commence construction of high profile properties and to purchase the 32-storey NITEL building in Lagos. He is currently developing a N7 billion resort in Akodo area of Lekki.

A source within the EFCC told SaharaReporters that their investigators were troubled that UBA has developed a notoriety for making controversial customer accounts in the bank to disappear. For instance, when the Minister of Transport, Yusuf Sulaiman, was found to be operating a UBA account through which stolen funds were being laundered, UBA cleverly wiped the account out of its system and then claimed the account did not exist.

Aides of Mr. Bankole said they could not confirm that Mr. Bankole will appear before the EFCC tomorrow. The outgoing speaker dodged a similar meeting last Thursday claiming to be busy with inauguration-related activity. Sources at the EFCC stated that President Goodluck Jonathan had asked the leadership of the agency to go soft with the embattled speaker.

Most of you loud people just talk rubbish and expend energy loudly for things that don't matter, but are damn quiet when you should be challenging. Its called foolishness.
Oh so you accused me too of cowardice ,pray tell how i am supposed to arrest someone all the way from SA huh I am not even a police officer so why are you talking about arresting the dude.We are talking about giving the guy the "Samuel Doe" treatment you are talking about arrest. What has your over glorified EFCC achieved with all the arrests they have made ?

Dude whether you like it or not someone will do something about the current rot in our political system. You can refer to me as a coward as much as you like,it won't stop what is going to happen. You are going to be alive when it happens. It is called Karma and Karma is certainly a B.i.t.c.h.

If i wanted to eliminate your friends in high places ,it is not an issue of whether i am brave enough or not ,it more an issue of my will to kill, information, logistics ,manpower and adequate funding.

Yes even assassinations requires funding. There are many people in Nigeria who will gladly kill corrupt politicians if they were trained and properly funded.I don't even need to be in Nigeria to lift up a single gun.Money will take care of everything.

Don't assume that because some of these fool are not dead that all Nigerians are coward.I guarantee you that on this NL forum alone ,there are several posters who will kill corrupt politicians if they were given the chance.Don't judge a man's will to kill from a forum,it won't be very smart of you.Yes people vent their anger on the internet but never underestimate anybody. It is the first rule of warfare.

Many of us are not barbarians who just go and shed blood but these looters are making us see red and if you posses the skill to kill a man in several ways you will be tempted to kill a few of these looters.Taking a human life has got nothing to do with courage but more with decision making. You don't become brave enough to take a human life you just decide to.

If you have ever been in a situation where you have to point and fire a gun loaded with live ammunition at a living human being and bring him down, you will understand what i mean.People who kill in self defense don't do it because they are brave, hell no they do it because they scared to die.

Peckham, a largely black area in London is a lot cleaner and nicer than Clapham, a white working class area. There are whole areas of Atlanta that are black-occupied and would put many a white neighbourhood in America to shame.

These disparities have much more to do of course, with income, wealth, and education, as opposed to skin colour, as your senseless brain seems to tell you.

Speak for your damn slaveboy self and your slave family. Leave ''our race'' out of this. YOU are not really a black person. YOU are a coconut - black outside, white inside. THIS IS THE HANDIWORK WORK OF YOUR ZOINIST IMPERIAL MASTERS RUNNING AMOK.NIGERIA IS GRADUALLY BEING DELIVERED ON A PLATTER OF GOLD TO THE COLONIALISTS WHILE WE KEEP BLAMING MEND ,HAUSAS ,IBO WITH OUR TRIBALIST NONSENSE.BY THE TIME WE REALISE THE TRUE ENEMIES WE ARE ALREADY IN SHACKLES AND SLAVERY PART 2.

WELCOME TO THE NEW WORLD ORDER .

Thank you for your informed comment, don't waste your breathe on NLers, half of these people have no clue of what is currently brewing in intelligence circles. They will soon start calling you conspiracy theorist or a nutcase. The question you must ask of them is why are over 100 US marine troops currently training in the Niger Delta huh I mentioned false flag attacks on another thread where they said the US was partnering will Lagos.Unfortunately unlike the the Arabs and the Chinese ,Africans are not too bright.

The next thing we will hear is that GEJ has given the US government permission to build a military base on Nigerian soil. Our ill informed citizens will dance to the seaports to welcome the us troops calling their saviour from the extremist.Who created , trained and armed al qaeda as well as the taliban again ? Oh yes the CIA!

Get all your relatives on standby with their passports cause the real sh8t is about to go down.More false flags on the horizon and they will target a part of the country that has never been hit before to send shivers down the spines of the citizens and ultimately pave way for the US invasion occupation intervention.

The Nigerian President is too d.a.f.t to realize that Nigeria nor any other African country will ever be given a permanent seat in the security council but it is what the US is using as leverage to deceive our not so smart power hungry leader.Freshest Air ever!
PoliticsRe: Lagos Brt Buses Are Gradually Turning Into Molue, With No Remedy In Sight by playmode(m): 8:53am On May 30, 2011
Maintenance culture is something that is severely lacking in African countries and African neighborhoods. There is no single African nation that is black led that can boast of high infrastructural maintenance standards. This is the bitter honest truth. There are have been several transportation schemes in Lagos even before the time of Fashola and all of them have collapsed because of lack of maintainance.I remember when i was still in st gregorys's college in the early 1990s and i used to take the bus which were painted white and sky blue.I don't remember which Governor initiated that transportation scheme at that time. (EDIT) I think they were called marwa buses.

The buses were beautiful and fully air conditioned but alas within 2years the buses were in tatters. It is unfortunate and as much as i don't want to say it we as Africans /blacks have serious issues when it comes to maintaining anything.

Feel free to accuse me of inferiority complex but i still speak the truth.

Just compare black neighborhoods and whites neighborhoods in your respective countries of residence.

Predominantly black neighborhoods are usually dirty and crime infested while predominantly white neighborhoods are clean and secure

Same goes for black owned vehicles when compared to white owned vehicle. In most cases you prefer to buy a car previously owned by a white person because their cars are usually better maintained than a car that was previously owned by a black person.

Like i said earlier feel free to accuse to me of inferiority complex but you can not run away from the truth. It seems as black people and as Africans we just don't know how to run a country ,keep our neighborhoods clean ,maintain our homes, maintain our cars e.t.c As a race we have serious issues which we need to address individually one at a time.

It is shameful that out of 50+  countries in the world that are ruled by black leaders (with the exception of OBAMA) we just can't seem to get it right. Corruption ,Bad maintenance culture ,lawlessness, dictatorship ,election violence seems to be the order of the day.

To be honest with ourselves in a country like the USA ,Japan ,South Korea or England,Fashola will not be regarded as a special person because he is just doing what he was elected to do but in the crazy circumstances of this country called Nigeria Fashola seems to offer hope.

It will however be disastrous for us not to criticize him when part of his Government is failing. We should not treat Fashola as a demi GOD but should acknowledge his achievement while at the same time keeping him in check so that all these praises do not go to his head and make him feel invincible.Just like Fashola was unknown until he became Governor, there are several other unknown Lagosians who can perform even better than him.

I know what the OP is talking about because i have experienced something similar in my youth.Though the OP did not specify but common guys we all know what He/she was talking about. The word "falling apart" does not need any analyses before we understand what he/she means.Someone or a group of people need to notify Fashola's Government to do something about this otherwise the BRT will collapse after a few years and a new project similar to it will be initiated only for it to collapse again.

I respect Fashola and i admire what he has done so far.Hopefully someone in his Government is reading through this thread and pass this message to him so that he can take swift action to ensure that these buses are maintained properly.

Finally can we try to keep the tribalism on the down low.We Yorubas are not haters ,let us show other NLers that we are above tribalism. It is really bad for this forum.
