Car TalkRe: Vehicles From Unauthorised Dealers Won't Be Registered - Lagos by playmode(m): 1:05pm On Jul 02, 2011
This law is a total no brainer.I find it hard to believe that LASG will make that kind of law without thinking through.Even in developed countries people who want to sell their used cars do not need to obtain any license to do so.They need to re-think the law and offer a more reasonable alternative. If they are worried about importers ,they could simply mandate unregistered independent importers to apply for a an affordable importers license instead of going through a 3rd party to get their vehicle sold.

E.G

Say for example i live in the UK and i want to send some cars home to my relatives to sell on my behalf. They could mandate my relative who will be selling the car to apply for an independent car importers license which will give him the authority to receive and sell imported cars from overseas.

Ordinary Lagosians who want to sell their cars can be asked to get an affidavit from the courts stating their intention to sell their vehicles before they actually sell it.Buyers can demand to see a copy of the sellers affidavit before they negotiate to buy the car.Once the car is bought the seller must give the buyer a police certified photocopy of the sellers affidavit which the seller must present at the licensing office before the car can be registered in the new owners name.

My 2 cents!

The only reason SA's economy is stronger than Nigeria's in the first place is because of lesser corruption and better management.Nigeria on any good day is richer than SA and will feed SA for decades. The only problem we have is our moronic and corrupt Government with the commander in thief of the armed forced in charge.Without a complete U-turn in the way we do things ,i seriously doubt that this can happen by 2025.

You know our people you can build beautiful mall ,roads ,hospitals e.t.c for them but within 2 years they will sh1t everywhere and the facilities will be run down.Personal hygiene is something that most Nigerians lack and it shows in their work place and environments. It will be a shame to see all these great facilities fashola has erected go "down" because of lack of maintenance which is endemic to our society. Is there an agency which has been set to monitor these facilities and issues fines if they are not being maintained well?

I can confirm authoritatively that Rt. Hon.
Nice one. My only reservation would be the involvement of Indians. I worked for an Indian company in Ogba-Ikeja in Lagos, and have first hand experience on how they regard and treat Nigerians (they can be worse than Lebanese by the way). Their sole aim is to maximise profit at all costs, and don't mind treating their workers disgracefully in the process. But it's our government that gives them the leeway? So i'd hope the Enugu State government would remind them of, and enforce strict labour laws if and when the project takes off.

Ebonyi and Abia states need to up their game man. Nothing seems to be happening in these states and it's so frustrating and annoying. angry

^^^ What has the above got to do with the topic, and is 'forced removal' even possible in this day and age of economic intergration and free movement? huh huh
Well Nigerians gave them that chance,in SA ,indians are treated like dogs. They are not trusted and they are not revered like demi GODS.The problems with us Nigerian is that we see them as "Oyinbos" and bow to them that is why they treat us like dirt.Personally when next i visit Nigeria and i see an Indian or Lebanese (no matter how rich he is) treating my brothers like dirt be rest rest assured that i will give him a piece of my mind(that is if i don't slap his cheek of his face first).Indians/Lebanese are scums of the earth.Dirty scoundrels who sh1t everyway they go.Don't give them a chance to bully you in anyway. This is our country and we run the show.

silverstud:
This is a bunch of crap write-up here, you are 100% wrong.
The CIA or MOSSAD has nothing to do with this issue, so please provide commentary that makes sense.
Until the Nigerian Governments and her Elites learn how to be strategic in Governance we will continue to have all these kinds of crap come up from time to time, and if we are not careful, we will go back to the days were there is conflicts all over africa.
The Nigerian Government needs to do several things,
1) Sharia Law has to be repealed and Religion needs to take the back seat to proper policy making that eleviates poverty and provides jobs.
2) Education must be made compulsory for all Nigerians up til your first year in university, after which you can do whatever you want.
3)Religious schools or Madrasas must be made to expand their curriculum to include five other subjects outside of Koranic studies and Arabic studies (Mathematics, history, sociology, a technical science subject, and any other elective that the student chooses), i recommend this b'cos religious schools are a fact of lift in Islam, thus rather than get rid of it, modernise it.
4) if Sharia Law cannot be repealed then it needs to be modernized. Thus, any judge or Lawyer in the Sharia Legal system has to get a regular law degree first and then specialize in Islamic law as a subset of their main law degree. And every Sharia court must be part of the regular Court system (just as a section of it, and not the whole thing)
these are a few things that i think can be done to accomodate islamic law but within a modern setting.
While you think what this guy is saying is wrong ,it is you who is wrong.

The simple question you must ask yourself is :

Why has the northern extremists become more determined in recent years?

How do they get funding?

How do they get military training?

Where do they get their weapons from?

What do they stand to gain from an Islamic state?

Dude do some research, the answers are all around if you dig deeper.

There are many issues going on in the world right now which are interlinked e.g

Obama's new financial policy as well as renewed interest in building military bases on African soil.

IMF former chief's violation incident (It was a setup ,his drink was spiked. They need to get rid of him so he cannot contest the presidential elections against sarchozy of France)

Uprising in the middle east  (orchestrated citizens coup)

Continued stalemate in Libya (France revenge against gadafi for setting up AFRICAN MONETARY FUND - an african version of IMF)

Boko Haram uprising (excuse to bring US Marines and CIA onto Nigerian soil )

The discovery of Gas in South Africa and the keen interest by SHELL to move to SA despite huge rejection by the populace. (expansion of mega corporations backed by the western governments into Africa's biggest economy)

Dude the world is changing, think NWO -New World Order and the book of Revelations in the bible.Pay more attention to everynews that comes out in all parts of the world and dig deeper. This is no conspiracy thing. This is simple common sense.Have you noticed how the Americans have been talking about investing in Africa more than ever before? How come they never invested in Africa in the past 30 years but now that China has taken over and built several free trade zones they want in?

The Americans are loosing grip of their hold on Africa, more African presidents are turning to china for loans ,investment e.t.c At the same time this presidents are giving the Chinese businessmen a free hand to invest and build in their countries.African now buys more Chinese products than American products. This is is not good for the US economy so the US government has to protect itself by curbing china's growth in Africa.

The only thing the US Government is good at is the art of deception, they have been using it for years to cause havoc in Angola ,DRC ,Liberia, e.t.c Cause havoc in an African country and the president will beg the US marines to help.I told you guys many times and it will happen if GEJ's is not strong enough to tell the USA to shove it.We will have an Africom base on Nigeria soil that will house the US Marines ,Army Rangers and also a CIA base station.Welcome to self imposed slavery- THE NEW WORLD ORDER.

Chuckdee:
As usual, Nintendo has come out again with a great leap and high tech advancement in the gaming world. What with the high level of integration between controller and console, its so awesome!! That been said, the controller looks so ugly and big as if it will be uncomfortable although funny enough first time handlers says its quite easy and comffy.

Its gonna be an interesting 2012 in the gaming sphere with all the new stuffs coming out but I will rather put my money where my mouth is, SONY.  I Will definitely be getting the PS Vita which to me appears to be a handheld made for the future!
Just my  10 kobo wink!
I think what you should worry about is the weight of controller not the size.Obviously this is not the final design.A lot of people said that the wii controller was weird when it was first launched but see how fast people got used to it.The design of the console is not the final design either,if you noticed not much was said about the console. This is intentional because they want everybody's attention to be focused on the controller for now.Expect pleasant surprises from nintendo.Graphics are important and they know ,that is why the are hush hush about the console's power.

ritchboy:
Are these the final designs?

The controller looks humongous. . . The right thumb stick is above the face buttons = fail! No space in the middle of the controller for your palms to rest on + the flat design of the damn thing = suicide. How do you hold that for say, 3 or more hours straight?

Nintendo, Sony and MS should just focus on producing good games instead of all these crappy flashy technology. My Kinect and Move peripherals have been eating dust for ages.
There in nothing wrong with the buttons IMO ,millions of people are playing on flat panels like the IPAD and awkward button consoles like PSP and WII without any complains. This is Nintendo we are  talking about, don't you think they will ask gamers to test the comfort ability of the controller before launching it.

IMO PlayStation needs to step up its game.I am not sold on the PS vita,i really dont see much improvement from the PS GO and definitely will not shell out $300 for it when i can get a full system  for like $500
