Foreign AffairsRe: Have Libyans Made A Huge Mistake By Removing Gaddafi? by playmode(op): 11:08am On Aug 29, 2011
Go and watch Aljazeera ,Libyans are already complaining about the new National Transitional Councils. Some ladies were even complaining that they prefer Gadaffi Government because there was law and order but now they being robbed of their possessions by the rebels.

They also want to deply UN ground troops to be stationed in the country to help disarm the people.

I hope we are not seeing a new Iraq developing.

@deji.ariyo ,redsun,hercules07,dapachez,chubhie,ZE,Harakiri,Xterra2,Hajifaty,kermarl8X,honeric01,norrisman,evil666,obailala,lawal123,wooni,Hbrednic,Kalman,uche92,bosom.L,nsiadi,Chingwa,baba eleko,Madingo II,9jaganja and the others who know the truth about Gadaffi ,GOD bless you and i pray that he continues to reveal the truth to all of you.Don't waste your time with people who are too lazy to do some research and discover the truth.

Gadaffi is not a saint ,he does have blood on his hands but why is this so? Gadaffi only killed those who challenged his rule,he did not just go into people's home to shoot them.He maintained his grip on power for  so long because he was power drunk and he did not want a weak person to take over from him.He had his faults but he provided more than adequately for his citizens. As long as you do not question his rule ,you will live your life to the fullest in Libya. All the tribal chiefs and tribes were taken care of by him and he maintained his traditional culture to the extent of even sleeping nomadic tents.

He should have handed over to another erosn who will carry on his style of leadership and keep out the west. That would have made it difficult for the west to attack.I guess that is the mistake he made and that has cost him libya. The west did not attack him because he was shooting the rebels ,they attacked him because he was going to ruin the "US dollar" with his new economic plans.I will post the article concerning this later but first i will like higlight the good and bad of his regime:

The GOOD

1. The government of Muammar brought the Libyan government from poverty and debt, to prosperity and debt-free status in 41 years.

2. Education from grade school through to college is free in Libya. This also include sponsorship of libyan citizens to school overseas.

3. Healthcare is free and Libyan pharmacies and hospitals are comparable to high-quality European facilities.

4. Libya ranks No. 53 on the United Nations Index of Human Development.

5. Libya has the highest standard of living in Africa (even better than South Africa,Mauritius and Seychelles).

6. Libya gives free land and seeds to anyone who wants to farm that land.

7. There is virtually no homelessness in Libya as everyone is given a home.

8. Women in Libya have equal rights, not only as a philosophy, but in practice.

9. Under Gaddafi’s oil-revenue-sharing program, each Libyan gets $500 (Dollars) deposited into his or her bank account each month.

10. On marriage, each couple is gifted $60,000 to do with as they please

I could list a few more but my point is that here in Nigeria we are yet to really enjoy any if not all of the the above.

The bad:

Lack of democracy, opposition movements have always been dealt with harshly

The state was virtually family owned

Military involvement and meddling in other North African countries as well as support for despots like Charles Taylor.

Lack of media freedom

Who cares? Dude ruined a lot of competing companies along the way.He was arrogant and played dirty, initiating a lot of law suits and using spies to steal competitor's secrets. He is responsible for the death of HP.Those who knew the real jobs knew he was a dirty coniving f8ck ,whose mission was to dominate and crush all competitors no matter what the cost.

He recently got a court to ban samsung from selling the galaxy tab in one part of the world. What do you call that? A desperate c8nt! The Ipad is over hyped anyways ,there are tons of tablets that are more affordable, more efficient and less hyped. The patron saint of perfectionists my azz, only applebots or apple fan boys give a damn about this dude.I don't see anything special about their product because they are overpriced and overhyped.Apple and their customers are like a cult, people don't like apple because their products are great but because they worship the label and jobs.

If you are in doubt of how great gaddafi was visit this thread : https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-743332.0.html

I  will go as far as to say that Libyans were living a better life than Americans and britons combined. How many countries in the world have zero % homelessness, free education up to university level including schooling overseas , free medical and dental care,$60,000 given tax free to every new young couple?

Gadaffi was evil to those who opposed his Government but he catered to his citizens adequately. How is Gadaffi different from the leaders of UAE? You don't see france bombing UAE or Bahrain. They attacked him because he rejected the dollar and the euro and wanted to create the African Monetary fund ,the African central Bank and a single african currency to be called the gold dinar. His plan were going to improve the lives of africans but would have severely hurt the economies of the west who are aggressively depending on African resources to solve their economic problems.

Here is an extract from an article about Hugo chavez's response to the ongoing crisis in Libya  :

"Now president Obama said he will collaborate economically with the ‘new government’, which of course we do not recognize,” Chavez said. Economic collaboration means stealing Libya’s abundant wealth that had been shared around Africa without any debt nor borrowing from banks, giving Libya the highest standard of living in Africa.

Libyan citizens enjoyed perks which are the dream of those in the west: free unlimited health and dental care, free unlimited funding for education anywhere in the world, rent-free house, $60,000 to couples upon getting married. This was carried out in line with the “Third Universal Theory” as explained in The Green Book which Colonel Muammar Qaddafi authored after leaving government in 1979.

According to this formula, all natural resources belong to everyone, so the oil and other assets of Libya, revenue is totalled each year, and then after expenditure on all required free education, health, married couples start-up boost, free electricity supply to each home, the remaining money is then divided by the entire population and deposited into their personal bank accounts — currently around $500 free money each month, whilst they also may additionally earn from any work they do without this being affected.

Foreign AffairsHave Libyans Made A Huge Mistake By Removing Gaddafi? by playmode(op): 11:22am On Aug 24, 2011
I have been studying Libya since this uprising started and i can't shake off the feeling that Libyans may have been ungrateful to Gaddafi. Libya was country that for the past 41 years prospered and was never in debt. However in the last 6 months Libya has become a debtor not to mention the number of infrastructure destroyed by NATO bombs. If care is not take the new Government of Libya will have to borrow from the west to repair their infrastructure.

If you look at some of the good things Gaddafi as done as indicated below you will agree with me that Nigerians would have appreciated a leader like this. Don't get me wrong, Gaddafi has got his faults but he was a leader that provided the basics for his people.

Here are the GOOD and BAD of Gaddafi's rule.

The GOOD

1. The government of Muammar brought the Libyan government from poverty and debt, to prosperity and debt-free status in 41 years

2. Education from grade school through to college is free in Libya.

My opinion is that the whole debacle over the West meddling in Libya has nothing to do with oil but more to do with control in the middle east as well as causing chaos in those countries that always had major issues with Israel.

Read between the lines people. I do not condone dictators don't get me wrong but it appears the West chooses which dictators to support ( Dubai has no democracy what so ever, they do not have elections), depending on who is willing to bend over.

Please let us read your views on this matter.
FamilyRe: My Wife And I Have Fought Again And I Think I Want Out by playmode(m): 3:46pm On Aug 22, 2011
Assuming your wife is a Nigerian, marrying an overseas based Nigerian woman is the worst mistake a Nigerian man can make.Based on my own personal ,most Nigerian women tend to turn "tiger" once they cross over to another country if you know what i mean.

I once dated a Nigerian girl who was based in Johannesburg and after 4 months i ran for my dear life. She was so abusive and wanted me to f*uck her 3 times daily because she felt that will keep me away from SA girls. She was also very lousy ,rough and she liked visiting all these celestial churches apparently in a bid to hypnotize me with charms. She also wanted me to carry all the burden of her family back home so i took to my heels and never looked back.

My advise to you as an adult and a man married happily for the past 6 years will be to DIVORCE her,she has not had any kids for you so you are fine.A woman who changes after you put a ring on her for no good reason is a dangerous partner and may end up getting you locked up for assault or kill you and claim self defense.I repeat Nigerian women overseas are a no go,stay away from them.If you want a good Nigerian wife ,you stand a better chance of finding one in Nigeria.

Investigating the plight of African women caught up in a web of organised crime, prostitution and human trafficking.

Every year tens of thousands of West Africans migrate to Europe in search of a better life. But for some of them that search will end in tragedy, as they fall victim to competing mafia gangs that prey on the hopes of the desperate. In southern Italy, it is Nigerian women who are among the most exploited, with many ending up trapped in the nightmare world of the sex trade.

In the first of two special reports, Juliana Ruhfus investigates the plight of African women caught up in a web of organised crime, prostitution and people trafficking. In the following account Chiara Caprio, an Italian journalist who was involved in the making of the film, describes what they found out in southern Italy.

The ghetto of Destra Volturno, an assembly of houses once used by Neapolitan tourists, is surrounded by flowers as it hosts the funeral of Mary Morad, a seven-year-old from Ghana. She was killed by a man with psychiatric problems. But in Castel Volturno, more than one-third of the 25,000 official citizens are African and, in particular, Ghanaian and Nigerian.

Al Jazeera came to investigate the phenomenon of Nigerian organised crime in this small town, quickly forgotten after serious riots in 2008, when hundreds of Africans took to the streets to protest against the massacre of six young Ghanaians committed by Giuseppe Setola, the army of the Casalesi clan.

Mary's family is waiting for the coffin and tension grows as delays and friction increase. Bose Atta, Mary's Nigerian mother, who was trafficked to Italy to be forced into prostitution, is nervous. She cries as her friends express anger against Mary's father, a man from Ghana who is now married to another Nigerian woman.

Finally, the coffin arrives and a group of men start celebrating with a Muslim rite. An improvised march towards the cemetery starts under a warm sun overheating a tormented African community.

I was hoping that winter was over but to my amazement this morning it started snowing  angry .Snow does not usually fall during winter in johannesburg,we normally get cold tempratures but no snow. The last time i witnessed snow was in 2005 but it is back now.We have had winter for the past 3 months and i was hoping it will be over in AUGUST but i guess like most people say,SA's weather is just unpredictable.

I was looking forward to a mild spring weather this Ausgust so i and the family can hang out at the pool but i guess the kids will have to wait a little while to play with daddy.I uploaded some pics of my house covered in snow. The snow is not that thick but the temperature is "chilling" .Time to whip out a cup of hot Milo and play some xbox 360 games  grin

PoliticsRe: Okorocha Flags-off Presidential Campaign - Investigative Journalism Or Trash? by playmode(m): 8:41pm On Aug 14, 2011
PointB:
I strongly disagree. Can you clearly define what 'achieving something' means? Besides, when did serving as state governor become the yardstick for lunching a presidential ambition? You will agree with me, that Nigeria has many capable men who do not necessarily need to serve as state governor, let alone achieve anything of repute in their state before aspiring for presidency (Patrick Utomi readily comes to mind here). Please let's cut the guy some slacks. Everyone has their ways of doing things, that you dont understand his methods does not make it wrong.

I will rate him at the end.
Common, any sensible individual in Okorocha's shoes will first of all want to make the people happy before campaigning.Yes there are a few people who campaign for the presidency without ever serving in a public office before but this is a newly elected Governor. It seems he has got his priorities misplaced. He is not even a Governor for 6 months yet and he wants to devote his energy elsewhere. He was elected governor a few months ago and he should focus on the state for now.Campaigning for the presidency at this time will divert his attention and affect his state negatively.

The guy in my personal opinion can't be trusted,he behaves like a skilled conman.Appointing 50 aides and all just seems like a very "dumb" move and a waste of the states resources in IMO.Time will tell but my guts tells me that Okrocha is just playing the fool now so he can get his hands on the presidency where he will loot like nobody's business. It not difficult to spot a selfless leader and one with a hidden agenda.Him campaigning for the presidency just shows that he is not interested in being a Governor but will rather prefer to be a president. He did not become a Governor so he can serve the state,he became a governor so he can use the resources at his disposal as a governor to promote his presidential agenda.

Don't wait till the end of their tenure before you criticize dodgy politicians,in a morally upright society the media and the citizens of the state would have been critizing him by now and telling to first of focus on his immediate responsibilities as Governpor and leave the presidential campaign for later.

Beaf:
Yes, of course. GEJ is human and he does get a couple of things wrong like each and every one of us.

The reason a few folk hate GEJ so desperately, has nothing to do with the odd mistake, though. Anyone can see through that.
Unfortunately, for a lot of people GEJ is not of the same religion as them, neither is he from their section of the country, so they wake up everyday in blind, raging hatred, cursing GEJ for stealing their birthright (God alone knows what that is).
LOLZZ!

I have asked al ot of you to make cogent arguments about what you hate so much that in observer would think some are crazy, but nobody has come up with anything. Not even something that is semi-literate. Why?
There is a primitive instinct in many Nigerians to shout, throw stones and fight; they think its makes them stand out. It sure does, but for all the wrong reasons; the same reasons an alpha male goat or pig would stand out in the zoo. Educated people who would be our leaders tomorrow have no business carrying on like agbero's and sundry base creatures.

Now, can we lay the rubbish to rest? I'm out of this thread.
Bullshitiing yourself as usual  undecided

Let me give you a few hints:

Massive curruption in Government (business as usual).
Dangerously corrupt wife.
Lacking the balls to take firm decisions.
1 years plus on the job with no single achievement in any sector of Governement. (I dare you to name one achievement he made in his 1 year plus in office).
Power supply still a pipe dream despite billions being pumped in.
No infrastructural development for the past 1.5 years since he became the number 1 man.
Unable to tackle Boko haram.
Debating with himself on TV during the campaign period.(Name one other country where a presidential candidate has ever done that?).
A president whose IQ is below 40 and lacks the ability to reason and come up with intelligent solutions.
A corrupt selfish dumb ugly baboon who does not care about the people but instead about how he can line his disgrace of a wife's coffers with the stolen loot.

I am not suprised that you are still tolerated on this forum because as with everything concerning Nigeria,95% of NLers in the politics section are self deceiving ,corrupt cretins with no self respect or dignity. They can sell their mothers for a loaf of bread because they have not evolved from their jungle mentality that dictates to them that corruption is the only key to success.
