UncleJJ: So, GEJ should not be held responsible because the northerner refused the polio vaccine. If he used guys like you to enlighten such people instead of posting excuses on nairaland. We would not have this issue. The history of refusal of Polio vaccination is much more complicated. Are you aware that some of the reasons include the allusion of Western conspiracy to render Northerners infertile? How do you even begin to address this inanity promoted by clerics and others who are more privileged? Guy, let's be realistic. GEJ has his issue, but every blaming ancient malaise on him is unreasonable. Soon couples will blame him for their inability to conceive. |
otokx: Poster please travel outside Nigeria to Europe, South Africa or even Ghana to see people that are moving forward. For your information from next year WHO has made it compulsory for all travellers from Nigeria, Afghanistan and Pakistan to be giving the oral polio virus whether men, children or babies. How long shall we continue to deceive ourselves in this country? And your point is . . . ? |
ujchief: Free and fair election my arsè! Your messiah got 1.1mil votes from my state, out of the registered 1.2mil voters, suggesting more than 85% turnout! Is that ur definition of free and fair? The only lesson i learnt from Edo and ondo elections was that elections should be done over a period of time, say 2 states per day, then next day for another 2 states so as to reduced rigging. Edo and osun was devoid of pdp rigging simply b'cos everyone's eyes and attention was there, so they kept track of most ballot boxes.I think it's a little too simple to suggest that free and fair election in Ondo and Edo State were because of voter's vigilance. I disagree. Im 2003 when Obj presided over the election, ballots boxes where snatched and stuffed in full view of camera, and nothing happened. Protesters were simply asked to go to compromised judiciary who simply rubber stamped most of the results or annul them at the tail end of tenure. My point is that arguing that GEJ has nothing to do with free and fair election is a little unfair, judging from how far we have come from 1999. |
Dede1: Do not pay any mind to the fool that goes by the name Yusuf Maitama-Sule. He was one of the foot soldiers to Ahmadu Bello who canvassed for northern region for northerners. He supported a mere Lt Col to usurp the position of Head of State when there was a superior officer with the rank of Brigadier and second in command to the so-called missing Head of State. This moronic dingbat joined forces with ill-informed dullards to persecute a war against the group of people that wanted meaningfulness in philosophy, intellectualism, politics and creativity.Nigeria is an interesting country. Once anyone loses out in the power game, they come up with all sort of theories. Things have fallen apart indeed. as if Nigeria's woes started today! |
Sincere 9gerian: NOTHING can fight corruption better than free and fair elections.Spot on! This is the quote of the century! |
0lumide: Your grave awaits you!!I suppose he provided a link. Why don't you simply check them out instead of regressing to the boring tactics of attacking the messenger? |
@Ochuko what are you rambling about? Why not submit your theories as to how the problem can be curtailed? You alluded that only FG can tackle the problem of insecurity, pray say, why the do state governor recieve security votes from FG? Are they not supposed to augment FG effort with it? As for Afenifere and other local leaders, I insist they can play key roles in security of lives and properties within the area of influence. Same goes for Ohaneze and Arewa. So sitting somewhere and pointing fingers and whining like market women solves exactly zilch of the problem. I see no reason why you cannot grasp a simple logic that FG CANNOT DO IT ALONE! Well unless something is clearly missing somewhere upstairs or you are the one purveying mischief here! |

Lol about oily soup! But generally speaking too much oil in food is unhealthy. Not sure though what it (too much oil) does to the brain. |
So at what point do we actually give credit to the man who appointed him and allow him the time and space to do his job? I mean if GEJ get slated for poor ministers surely commonsense dictates we praise the guy for good ones, no? |
Arrest threat seems to be the new fad in the House of Reps these days. I thinks they are losing the plot. Bunch of clueless folks perhaps permeate the lower lower house. |
Nothing new here! Hoodlums, brigands, cabals, despots, and rascals have ran and ruin this country for very long time. What we are witnessing now is the result of commulative damage to the country's commonwealth. The president can only do so much. Local leaders and state governors have as much stake in peace, security, and welfare of their constituency, and this include Afenifere itself. Rather than whining, complaining and pointing fingers, they should intensive effort in sensitising their immediate communities and society. FG cannot do it alone! |
Like father like son! Rascality seems to run very deep in this family, perhaps genetic! |
babyosisi: What a shameWell said! |
I have been seduced by the beauty of Enugu. Yet I yearn for more . . . pix! ![]() |
Nice one. Though one wonders what is left to 'buy' in Lagos, when Tinubu has bought almost everything with gullible SW'ners monies! ![]() |
Sincere 9gerian: I agree with you. This is why I think this country may eventually SELF-DESTRUCTSure thing. Seems we can only postpone it, but it seems inevitable. We can only hope for a controlled self-destruction! |
Sincere 9gerian: I disagree with you. It was the elites(politicians, so called activits, labour leaders and pastor Bakare and co) that mobilized against subsidy removal. The most annoying thing was that these elites did what they did MOSTLY because of ethno-religious and partisan sentiments. Why were they no protests in the southeast, southsouth and some parts of middle-belt? The ordinary man on the street would have accepted the policy if they were assured that saved funds will be used to better their lives in other ways. The Lagos-Kano rail line that was completed recently was done with part of the funds saved from partial removal of subsidy.Well, clearly, I am not referring to the 'elites' here. I am referring to the 'masses' who followed the elites out of ignorance. As for the ethno-religious sentiment, that would be hard to sell (as far as fuel subsidy is concerned.) I have family members and friends (South East and Christians) who wouldn't like to see the fuel subsidy ended. The first thing they always say is that price of goods will rise, due to increase in cost of transportation. While they have a point, I figure it might be a fair price to pay, if we are to be rid of the evil called fuel subsidy. Presently, the media is dominated by anti-government agents and opposition propagandist. It is very hard to convince the populace that saved fund will be/is been judiciously utilized. Sad thing is that the media will not even acknowledge most progress made by the government, for partisan sake. That is why developmental strides like returning of the rails, improved power supply, etc hardly get mentioned. Whereas banquet hall, VP residence, subsidy funds claims etc make bold headlines to paint the picture of kleptomaniac regime. |
@Sincere_nigerian, I wouldn't call them fools. I think those who insist the subsidy should continue despite all the ills associated with it are mostly ignorant, and are ruled by fear. I agree, and insist, that subsidizing fuel consumption is a very bad policy. Nigeria need to rethink! |
Nice one. My only worry though is financial resources to make this work. Imo State seems overwhelmed with a lot projects - school upgrades, road constructions, free education, hospitals building, etc. Well lets see how this development pans out. |
They shouldnt even have been arrested in the firts place in a civilised country! |
9ja voice: my town and towns around us in enugu state has oil in large quantity.Na wa oo |
So who doesn't know that Wazobia news is satire? |
There is no doubt that virtually all the SE states have oil in commercial quantities. But bad politics of past governments did not allow this to be officially acknowledged. Or how else can one explain that fact that a community claim of oil discovery since 1928 is just been given serious attention now? This is also one of the reason why GEJ administration will always be supported by rationale people. It listens and makes the effort to correct past injustices at the very least. |
Very well said Rochas. I am 100% in agreement with what the able governor said and did. |
Gullible Nigerians are already salivating at the prospect. Na here we dey oo. ![]() |
jackpot: ^I disagree, boyfriend.Only those seeing things with 'ethnic lens' make this sort of comment. So said the mods! |
By the way, didn't Dele Momodu contest in the last election? ![]() If he did all those things he wrote, why didn't Nigerians see them and reward him with votes? Now such 'loser' is asking a 'winner' to discard his advisers and listen to him? Does he want the position of Senior Special Adviser? How many people should the President listen to and perhaps do as they suggest? Some of these columnists are very naive to put it mildly! |
This long boring epistle because you couldn't get close enough to shake the president's hand. Na wa o. Dele fall my hand flat! |
Jobless touts. New parties every election! Na by party? |
Akpamgbo: Sorry Your Honor. I will round it up. General, so you killed all those women and children to keep Nigeria one. And then what? What did you gain? Boko Haram? The turning of your beautiful Plateau state into a kill-and-go valley? And what is a general like you doing about it? Going around praying while your people are being slaughtered? What kind of general does a pitiful thing like that? You take delight in bringing shame to real generals like Napoleon Bonaparte. I presume it must be a case of why cry when you can pray. Not even the ragtag Biafra soldiers with wooden guns stoop that low. How do you sleep at night? What kind of evil is worse than saying to distressed passengers in your doomed bus, I won’t let you out. I won’t even let you jump off through the window. You all must plunge into the lagoon with me?Very apt! |
