alj harem: dude who cares whether they are igbos or not. Your emphasis on only Igbo candidates is so annoying makes one wonder what is wrong with you. Fashola/Shekarau would do, I don't mind Rochas/ Fashola as well.Get out of here bigot! What emphasis are you blabbing about? Is Ribadu Igbo, I suppose you didn't see that name in the piece. The Op ask how the SE/SS will vote a Fashola/Shekarau - a North/SW ticket. I proffer an alternative, and you are blabbing Igbo this and that all over the place like a stricken mofo. I dont have time for your brand of anti-Igbo bigotry this morning. quit smoking weed. |
alj harem: Alternative to what ? means of transport or means of income ? My brother are you thinking at all ?I guess you forgot your brain at home. Does the Okada rider engage in the business for the fun of it, and do you think the passengers love riding okadas every time? Sometime you ask question even a six year old will avoid. Go home and fetch your brain brother. |
alj harem: WHY AND WHY MUST NIGERIANS VOTE FOR AN IGBO OR SE MAN/WOMAN RATHER THAN A COMPETENT NIGERIA THAT WOULD SOLVE OUR COLLECTIVE PROBLEMS.My guy sharap and keep your bigotry to yourself. What is not competent about Rochas, Soludo and those that I mentioned? Or does being Igbo make them any less competent than other ethnic groups? Besides where did I mention Igbo in my initial comment? Quit that weed you are smoking, I suppose it's too early in the day. |
chukwudi44: A fashola/shekarau ticket would only win in the southwest.Have you forgotten that the north is already occuppying the vp slot. There are not interested in playing second fiddle.Banning Okada without providing alternative is not only mindless but totally heartless, both to the Okada riders and passengers. It will haunt Fashola/ACN in the polls in 2015. |
trillville: The fact that both fashola and shekarau are Muslims makes the ticket a little hard to sell in some regions of the country. 2015 is too big an opportunity for acn, cpc and anpp to play with so hopefully they will present candidates that are truly electable in all parts of the country.A smarter move for them is to adopt a SE presidential candidate like Soludo, or Rochas. Any other permutation will deepen the division and suspicion. |
Why would I vote for Fashola when I could easily vote for Rochas, Chime, Peter Obi, Pat Utomi, Okonjo Iweala, Soludo or even Ameachi paired with Ribadu? In which way is Fashola/Tinubu/Shekarau better than any of these aforementioned folks? Or simply because of the media hypes? Or is there any rule that suggest that only Hausa and Yorubas should be continually voted into power? Make no mistake, Fashola is only known in the SW, and if he is challenged by any of the folks listed above, he will never get 5% of the SS/SE votes. As for Rochas endorsing Fashola, well if he is ready for political death, let him go ahead. |
Oga Prophet WHEN will this happen? |
kulyie: am not being deceitful here, its only wise if every nigerian contributes his own little quota for peace to reign.i know the way things are it seems worthless for anyone to believe in nigeria, however no matter what consider the fact that u were still born in nigeria and the nigerian blood is still flowing in each of our veins no matter what part of the world we are.if i dont fix it in my own little way,if you dont fix it in your own way then who will fix itIt needs no fixing my guy. What Nigeria need is careful dismantling. Nigeria is a fraud, and will always be a fraud! What's there to fix. Let's continue tethering on the brink. Hopefully, as soon as the oil dries up, the contraption will unravel! |
Nigeria has been on the brink since 1914. Perhaps only fools will stack hope against hope that we shall get there by courting some phantom genetically modified leader(s) to change the course of things from the center, knowing fully well the same corrupt system entrenched in the various parties - nepotism, ethnicism, greed and blatant godfatherism will birth the leader(s). Let these fools then continue stacking hope against hope, when the solution is very glaring that we need to move apart at least slightly to appreciate our strength and perhaps each other. The country stands on shaky tripod, a small push will surely help! |
kulyie: please stop d tribalism for goodness sake.see yourself as a nigerian instead of an igbo, yoruba or hausa.this is one of the things causing disunity and retrogression.as am typing am on the que in uba and i was observing people while typing, everyone is tensed up,angry, easily provoked and on the edge.its a pity nigeria is degenerating by the day as opposed to where it is supposed to be all things being equalWhat is wrong if one does not believe in Nigeria anymore? Is it absolutely necessary that Nigeria survives? What benefit does Nigeria bestow on it's citizen? I hope Nigeria get it right, and become a strong united nation built on equity, justice, and freedom. But if Nigeria must be dissolved for these things to be achieved, so be it! |
pazienza: @pointB Your stance on this matter reeks of hypocrisy. There are many laws given to the hebrews by moses, most of these laws are obsolete, they served the hebrews of biblical era,but can't serve us in this our era,so they were abandoned. Why should you go and pick one of these laws and use it to support your bigotry, it's all or nothing,if you know that you can't keep all the moses laws, then stop picking and choosing.I disagree with you. I am looking at it purely from the religious angle. I understand there is a social and political side to the issue. But that is not my concern at the moment. I think the hypocrisy allegation should be directed to the clergy who despite what the Bible say decides to look the other way. In any case, I also don't agree that that aspect of Biblical teaching should be consigned to the past era, and you certainly cannot accuse me of picking and choosing, because one of the verses I referenced is of the new testament. Besides in my first submission, I made it very clear that the State and Religious are separate entity and must not be confused as one. The state reserves the rights to make laws to govern the people no matter how absurd and immoral such laws may be. However, it is the duty of the Church to preach the world of God as written in the Bible, without pandering to the State or their selfish interest. |
I heard some tech savvy Nairalander was controlling the chopper via PlayStation, bringing it down was a fatality move. Back, Back, Forward and X. Gbosa! |
0lumide: Good!Unless the state governors are clueless to boot, I see no reason to suggest they are not in better position to determine how best to re-invest the SURE-P fund allocated to them. I believe the idea behind handing the fund to the State Government is to target the fund where it will provide the best palliative to the state, and in line the the Federal System. To this end, State with clueless governors are best serve by refusing the funds, and let the FG invest it as it please. Hope were are on same page here? |
There are a few people in government who are actually working hard to restore sanity to the system by tackling corruption in the oil and gas sector. Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala is one of them. We cannot throw the baby away with the dirty water. Kudos to this brave, and hardworking woman! |
teskyg: @ pointB,you said my mind.OBJ ensured Speaker was zone to the south west, but their know it all Tinubu and his cohourts to run OBJ over made sure they lost the speaker.Where were the Afenifere leaders when it was cleared Tinubu was ochestrating a plan to humiliate OBJ?why didn't they speak up then?OBJ the laugh oh.Tinubu can do it for them.Anyway, Afenifere has no serious need to complain. There a couple of decent Yoruba in the GEJ cabinet. They include: Navy Capt. Caleb Olubolade (rtd)- Honourable Minister for Police Affairs Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi- Honourable Minister for Youth Development Mr. Olusegun O. Aganga- Honourable of Minister for Trade and Investment Amb. Olugbenga Ashiru-Honourable Minister for Foreign Affairs Erelu Olusola Obada -Honorable Minister of State, Defence Mrs. Olajumoke Akinjide Honourable Minister of State for FCT Dr. Akinwunmi Ayo Adesina, Minister, Agric and Natural Resources Mrs. Omobola Johnson Olubusola, Minister, Communication Technology The question really is what have they done with the position they currently hold? |
Olaolufred: YOU ARE ONE OF THE FEW NAIRALANDERS WHO TAKES TIME TO DIG OUT FACTS.lol. I've given up on these lots. They keep repeating the same line despite the obvious fact that it's a hoax. Perhaps somehow, the world have become such a bad place that some people would like to see it end, in a blaze. |
dederocs: Urban legend is a site. Why don't you google? It sure will help rid you of some ignorance. na wa for some people. An urban legend, urban myth, urban tale, or contemporary legend, is a form of modern folklore consisting of stories that may or may not have been believed by their tellers to be true.[1] As with all folklore and mythology, the designation suggests nothing about the story's veracity, but merely that it is in circulation, exhibits variation over time, and carries some significance that motivates the community in preserving and propagating it.- Wikipedia |
Again the topic being discussed is listed under 'urban legend - current hoaxes and legends.' That should have settled the issue, but I bet most commenter didn't click the link. Anyway here is final conclusion from same link: Analysis : False. NASA has predicted no such thing. There will be no three-day blackout in December 2012. Indeed, the phrases used above — "total blackout of planet," "alignment of the universe," "shift from the current third dimension to zero dimension," etc. — are not only undefined, but meaningless. It's pseudo-scientific nonsense.Nothing is special about this December 2012! |
dederocs: i hope its mumbo jumbo....No point hoping. It is! |
Urban legend, people, urban legend!! Stop spreading fear and panic, nothing abnormal will happen in those days. Zero, first, second, and nth dimension mumble jumbo in this context in exactly what it is - utter balderdash! |
lol funny stuff here. ![]() |
Interesting perspective coming from Eze OnlyTruth this vexed issue of same sex marriage. Firstly, I think OnluTruth was mostly correct as per traditional rationale for marriages in Igboland, and that is procreation. But I disagree that love 'defined by OnlyTruth' as physical/canal attraction has less to do with it. If physical/canal attraction equates to love, certainly a man will be attracted to that beautiful strong woman, who appears able to bear children; attracted to the point of summoning enough courage to approach the ladies parent. On the other hand, the woman will also be attracted enough to the man to say 'yes.' It on this basic definition of 'love' that I draw my conclusion that even in primordial Igbo (Nnewi) culture, love exist and play significant role in choice of female/male partner! I believe, same law of attraction applies in the Western world, although method of consummation may differ. But I strongly disagree with OnlyTruth on the Anglican position on same sex marriage. The reason is very clear, the Church and the state are clearly delimited entities, and the Anglican Communion does NOT represent the Western World, they represent the Religious World and must constantly derive their authority from the text - Bible. And the Bible is very clear on what marriage is = a union between a man and a woman! Marriage is the reason a man leaves his home and cleaves to a woman, and the two become one. Any and every other combination is an aberration, and must be viewed and interpreted a such. Homosexuality, aka sodomy is clearly frown upon by the Bible, which the Church derives it spiritual authority from. Leviticus 20:13 says If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 has another perspective on this. Now whether Catholic, Anglicans, or Protestants, the basic norms of Christianity must be upheld not upended regardless of what the civil or secular society thinks or says. To disregard the basic tenet of the Bible, is a recipe for destruction, and that explain why there is Church of England and Church of Nigeria in the Anglican communion. My brother OnlyTruth, I like to conclude this by saying, that the Anglican Communion England have lost their moral and spiritual authority, they have lost their way and needs deliverance, I'll rather seek out the Long Juju of Arochukwu than a same-sex supporting church. Btw, I sent you a mail @ hushmail! |
afam4eva: What the OP is suggesting is not that every state should do everything. They can have a little of everything and still have a USP. I see no reason why Enugu can't have it's own Onitsha, NNewi, Aba and Abakaliki even if it's in a small way. And i see no reason why Onitsha despite being a commercial city will not have the livability of Enugu and be an Agricultural state. I see no reason why Ebonyi, despite having Agriculture as it's strong point cannot have a small commercial town or a tourist haven.I am with Op on this. It's no ruse that 'regional integration' as continually being touted in certain quarters is an euphemism for growing personal empire, and subjugating some states. Nigeria is already 'integrated' albeit with the term 'amalgamation' and we can see clearly how this has panned out. South East does not need this sort on integration. What we need is fierce but healthy interstate competition in all economic and development sphere. That said, the sort of integration I would like for the SE is infrastructural integration - good rail and road network linking major towns and cities throughout the SE Zones and beyond. Integration in electric power generation and distribution will also help. These are the kind on integration we need in the SE, not one man building personally empire, while leading 'intelligentsia' by the nose. I hope it dawns on them before dark! |
afam4eva: For people like Tinubu, party loyalty comes before ethnic loyalty. As long as the speaker is not from ACN it's a NO NO.Sad but that's the truth. Tinube cut his nose to spite his face. Yoruba leaders should hold him accountable and stop embarrasing themselves with countless trip to Aso Rock. There is nothing GEJ can do for them now. For starters he can even easily fire the CBN governor or Finance minister without serious complaints by other major ethnic groups. Two position coveted by the Yoruba leadership. I guess they have to pray, wait and hope for something drastic to happen. |
Afenifere or whatever they are called will be taken serious when they grow enough balls to query Tinubu for betraying Yoruba's interest after the Speaker position was zoned to them. All these wild geese chase to Aso Rock are plain waste of time. Yorubas were marginalised by Yorubas! Fact. |
Nigerians conscience have gone so numb that people now rejoice at untimely deaths Of fellow humans. What a country, what a people! Shame. |
Federal Government has no business ab initio building and managing refineries, they have one one the worst track records worldwide in this regards. The private sector and better equipped for such venture. If the subsidy regime continues to be a clog on the wheel of progress, Nigerians should support the effort to get rid of the waste. Subsidy of Petrol benefits mainly the rich, it must go! |
Key word to note: Completes |
caseless: hahahaha...ur first line gat me laffin and the second one gat me thinking u are not a bigot. If buhari is fanatical like u said, dont u think he's not goin to be the only one that wil rule? Atleast, we hav NASS to keep such things in check...this is not military era, so he cant do as he wants.I see. But somehow folks like you managed to contrive that GEJ is ruling alone and can do whatever he likes. Isn't it better some of you bloody hypocrite learn to zip it, rather than continuing reveal your duplicity at every turn? shm. In any case, Buhari CAN NEVER EVER rule this country again. You can take that to the bank! |
Let's face it. The SW got the short end of the stick in the PDP experience no thanks to their favorite son Obj. But even during the darkest hour of PDP other part of the country still managed to get a better deal. I dare say Enugu, Anambra, Imo, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom etc fared much better. As per ACN, I think the party is just a business centre run by Tinubu. More like a mafia organisation with political cover. Getting Tinubu out of the party and ensuring internal democracy may help it re-invent itself. Oshimole perhaps because of his brand appears the only independent minded guy in that company (ACN). |
kunlekunle: he should bring them to the public and announce what he intended doing with the money. And the public will do exactly what? Anyway, how about this current 'sharing' that has gone public? Let me ready my popcorn and drink to watch what the 'almighty public' will do to stop this sharing engineered by the governors! ![]() |
