It's you people that are just making a big deal out of this...why the competition spirit? Na competition? You wan fight am?

Just congratulate the girl and move on...shes part of the people that used her personal love for cooking and be part of those to make Nigeria recognizable so what's the fuss all about? Na wa for some of you

If a Nigerian like burna wins another grammy wont Nigerians celebrate him?

Anything that makes Nigeria positively recognizable is worth hyping. If you no like am go chop grass
Congratulate her and move on. EXACTLY!
Not president visiting and 24 hr coverage. Any person with a brain who knows what she actually did, is bound to find such hype irritating!
If it were something like she won a national best tasting food competition, I'd be the one leading the hype. It means she did something BETTER than everybody else!

Yes for the drafters do not mean to create confusion but common sense
Actually, though the SC can decide on common sense, law works on technicalities even if the technicalities make no sense
Example, you are recorded speeding but the cop made a mistake and wrote Wednesday instead of Tuesday. You'd be found NOT GUILTY, when in fact everyone knows you are guilty!

IkeIgboNiile:
So the SC will leave what's Legal and constitutional for common sense? Nawa oh
Well, one can argue that the drafters made a MISTAKE, but that we should not perpetuate that mistake by insisting on something that is contrary to common sense - viz that one must get 25% in FCT, which is exactly what the drafters wrote!
FoodRe: Why Are Nigerians Overreacting About Hilda Baci's Record? by PoliteActivist: 2:17am On May 18, 2023
Rayban25:
Agreed. then go and impress them and cook for 500hrs..show them the man that you are it's not hard now..the challenge does not exclude men
Just don't overhype it.
It is like a woman setting a record of running non-stop or running marathon. We KNOW men do it better than women - which is why there are men and women marathons. So anybody with a brain will take such "record" with a grain of salt - not overhype it!

psalmz:
you said my mind ,the thing is irritating
It is VERY irritating to anyone with a brain.
I'd understand it if she won even a local cooking competition of best tasting food.
But this is something that has NOTHING to do with cooking but standing and not sleeping.
Is there really anybody that believes Hilda can do that longer than most men and women in, say, Lagos??

Rayban25:
Then encourage your babe to apply and break the record then...then we celebrate her too.

I'm now convinced that Nigerians tend to despise others when they're not the ones in the spotlight
That's what makes the "record" ridiculous - it is NOT only women. You KNOW men generally have higher endurance level than women
PoliticsRe: Those Arguing 25% In FCT, See What The Constitution Says About States In Nigeria by PoliteActivist:
Profmizolm:
Which constitution. You dey yarn dust boss
The constitution that says one MUST get 25% in the 36 states AND FCT (Notice it didn't say "which may include FCT", neither did it say "FCT should be treated as one state", neither did it say "Any state can substitute for FCT"wink. It simply stated "AND FTC", thus giving FTC special status.
If you say it doesn’t give FCT a special status, you are being economical with the truth.
You can ONLY argue that that's not what the drafters meant. And since they are not here to say otherwise, you could be right!

Ofunaofu:
This is a very myopic argument
Actually it's not myopic, it is common sense. BUT it is simply and honestly what the constitution says (focuse on Abuja because you MUST get 25% there), unless one invents his own version of English language!
PoliticsRe: Those Arguing 25% In FCT, See What The Constitution Says About States In Nigeria by PoliteActivist: 6:47pm On May 17, 2023
Constitutionally and legally one must get 25% of FCT,
BUT by common sense one does not need 25% of FCT.
Supreme Court has option of going the common sense route as what the drafters intended. And since the drafters are not around to dispute them, their word is final

The money didn't disappear, someone withdrew or transfer it.
Someone with a name, photo and address.

What has this got to do with Nigeria?
Is there a country where banks don't lose money to fraudsters?
Well, what makes banking possible is that there are enough honest people to be trusted with people's info.
We may just eventually have to admit that banking is simply not possible in Nigeria, that there are so many scammers and so much corruptionin that there are not enough honest people to run banks without compromising people's info

I always read about money disappearing from bank accounts and I never imagined facing this anguish someday.
250K was transferred into my husband's zenith bank account at around 8pm on 8th May. He never received an alert. At exactly 06:46 am and 06:49 am this morning May 9th he received debit alerts of 200k and 49,800k transferred to a palm pay and Wema bank
MarrisManah:
This is painful, but truth be told, a lot of us in this Nigeria are very careless with things that matters. I can
Problem is, it's not only Zenith. My money in First bank disappeared and they kept giving me run around till I gave up.

We may just eventually realize that banking is simply not possible in Nigeria, that there are so many scammers in Nigeria that there are not enough honest people to run banks without compromising people's info

Yawns...

No bank will arrest her for such nonsense.
Name change is very common.

Did she do BVN?
Whose name and picture was on it?

So, Rosemary abi Roseline that has almost a million in her account, couldn't get her name right?

When opening the account, what ID did she use? Because it doesn't seem like a Tier1 acct, considering her supposed balance. That is me assuming she has been running the acct.
You are mistaken. My money also "disappeared" from First Bank simply because I did not operate the account for years. I KNOW she's telling the truth

i dont know. She broke a record, that what matters to me. All the Miss World, Most Beautiful Girl, Mr Macho, Grammy award winner, this winner, that winner etc, are they actually the most beautiful or most muscular, best actor? Even world footballer of the year, is he actually the world's greatest footballer in the actual sense?
It's a competition, the judges judge those that have entered the competition and choose a winner.
I celebrate her for her feat and for that only.
Those ones EXCELLED at something. If I'm now asked what Hida can do better than almost anybody alive, what would be my answer? You can celebrate her while acknowledging the limitations of the "record", without blowing it out of proportion!

The portion you marked said that guiness book of records won't tell her what to cook, so she will be the one to choose what she wanna cook. She can cook any dish, be it eba, semo, spaghetti etc as long as she is always cooking something that can be eaten.
You miss my point. The fact there is no requirement about the quality of the food, means it's not about cooking but about standing and not sleeping. And I can assure you that amongst the men and women in her village, Hilda will not last the longest standing and not sleeping - talkless of the world!

Encircled states clearly it's not about cooking. So what is it about? Standing?

Do the monk have knowledge of the variety of dishes she prepared n can they cook it to good taste?
You suppose query the person that she just beat her record. I mean, that's the one you're supposed to query and ask Guinness why was she really included. undecided
theamazonguru:
According to you, they can.
But how do we know they can if they do not attempt to do so and get world acknowledgment and recognition thereby becoming acclaimed record breaker.

If Hilda did not attempt this feat, how would we be celebrating her today for being a record breaker? Ability not put to verified use is at best a potential ability.

Nah, you're actually stupid, and don't deserve a reasonable response.

Your last sentences expose your true intention.

Go and bring such 'Shaolin' monk to come and try it.

Until then, she's still the record holder.
tomju2:
It's easy to sit at the comfort of your home to underate such an achievement. Firstly, can you stand for 4 days nonstop? Just be standing without doing any major thing? Someone cooked for 4 days straight with little or no rest, and you have the guts to undermine her efforts? Are you human? For real. That said, please explain to us your major achievement in your life and I'll show you 3million or more Nigetians who have fared better in that field than you. Please start, I'm listening.
Maysdevices:
Not excelled exactly. Something RECORDED that has never been done by another person or done in faster time than a previous record holder.
It’s just a way to award both impressive and non feats done by humans.

While I do find it amazing that a person could stay awake for four whole days performing even the most minute of physical activity, I did not expect it to be nation breaking news or an achievement worth such overzealous recognition.
My brothers and sisters, no be bad belle or hatred at all o. I honestly don't UNDERSTAND this kain record.
See the rules below.
The encircled says clearly the record is NOT about cooking! Which means it is about endurance. In my opinion that's what makes the whole exercise silly.
There are people trained in endurance all their lives (like monks) who can spend days on end without sleep. Plus, on average, men can endure longer than women (hence male/female marathons).
I honestly don't understand this "record".

**ADDED LATER:
The fact there is no requirement WHATSOEVER about the food or quality of the food, means it's NOT about cooking but about standing and not sleeping. And I can assure you that amongst the men and women in her village (talkless of the world!), Hilda will not last the longest standing and not sleeping.
If I'm now asked what it is Hilda can do better than almost anybody alive, what would be my answer??
