calabardick: I think drivers suppose to have a platform where they post any salvage/lemon car they've driven, this will help other drivers avoid such vehicle when call for inspection, or it will also help them to know what to look out for during inspection.
Salvage cars everywhere.
A car given to an innocent driver yesterday is already giving him serious issue today. I have to tow him from Jakande (ipara) to the owner's house at sangotedo.
On my way back this evening, I was behind him at Chisco traffic light, as the light turns green we moved, suddenly his car began to jerk till it finally stopped. When I noticed the phone on his dashboard I knew he's a fellow, I overtook him, reverse then park in front of him.
The rider started to hala, i explained to her that cars can go hairwire anytime. She ordered for another and left. (The driver that came to pick the lady didn't even care to come out at least to see what's wrong with a fellow driver that warrants his passenger to request for another vehicle, even when he saw our hazard lights on, he was relaxing inside his 4 inches Corolla)
When I asked the guy what the problem was he said that today is his first day with the said car. He has no idea of whatsoever. He suggested contacting those guys at Ipara to come and check, I told him to abort that idea, but rather let him call the owner. When he call the lady I noticed the change on his face, I asked him to come inside my car so that I can hear their conversation as well. The woman asked him if she's a mechanic, if he can't sort himself out let him sleep there with the car, she drop the call.
I was angry, I got her number and call her; Me: Good evening ma Madam: Na who be this? Me: Madam Funke, your car and your driver are obstructing traffic, you may come to LCC office tomorrow to claim your car. Madam: no sir please, let me talk to my driver please Me: Please not with my phone ma, call him.
She call the driver, by this time I've already paired his phone with my car Bluetooth so the both of us can hear.
Driver: hello ma Madam: hello ma too, olorubruku, otiyawere Driver: excuse me ma Madam: so you called LASTMA to come and tow me car away, ehn? Ee no go better for you, all of you are the same Driver: madam I don't like the way you're talking, I didn't call any LASTMA, the car breakdown at the traffic light, they help me to push it, they overhead your response when I called you, that gets them upset. Madam: my response kill all of you dia Driver: madam what's the way out? Are you going to call your mechanic? Madam: young man please can you bring my car? I don't blame you, that's how the previous driver destroyed my engine, now you're planning to destroy this new engine I put at Ladipo? Please return my car, I will call Ladipo tomorrow. Driver: please ma, how do I return this car now when it's not even starting again? Madam: anyhow you want to do, if you like push it but I need my car here, tonight. Driver: but ma, I (she interrupted him with a question) Madam: how much dey your hand? Driver: 3500 Madam: since morning? 3500? Ah, wetin I no go see for Lagos? Who sent me to do Uber business? Driver: have you forgotten that you asked me to do alignment and balancing today, and remember there was no fuel when I pick the car, I've spent more than 10k today Madam: look for someone that can tow you for 5k, when you get here I will pay the balance. Driver: okay ma, but no one will collect such amount by this time plus the distance, let estimate 10k, because of traffic Madam: 10k? Are you towing the car to hell? Driver: I'm at Jakande, it's far Madam: and so? Is Jakande at sango? Is Jakande at ibafo? Is Jakande at seme? Oga please bring back my car. Driver: let me look for someone that can tow me Madam: whatever, I'm waiting.
That's how I tow him to united estate, the basket mouth woman came out and was ranting
Madam: where the towing van? Driver: I didn't see any so I asked someone to tow me Madam: how much? This one isn't a towing van, it'll be cheaper Driver: her said 15, I didn't have a choice because LCC have already positioned their van to tow the car Madam: oga, na 7k dey my hand, he will balance you, thank you Driver: but I told you how much I have on me? Madam: and I told you how much I can afford, please can I have my car key?
He drop the key and we left her house, when we get to the road he gave me some money (I don't know the amount since I didn't collect), I rejected it, I told him to forget. I told him that I wanted to make sure he get some bucks from the woman, in order to recover his expenses. The guy was so excited going home with 10k
I've advice him to run away from that car and the madam, they don't worth it
Please drivers always try to be your brother's keeper, it might happen to you tomorrow. Even when I have a rider, I do slow down to ask what's the matter. Nice one boss... U've done well |

Babadee1900:
Let me explain myself before you crucify me .
I got a request inside Ikota Village Estate, picked rider without asking for destination, started trip and I saw IDIMU, I told rider that I dont think I can continue with the trip say I'm sorry.
Madam said do you want to end trip I said Yes Ma and quickly added that the 500 fare I will pay so she doesn't have to bother about that, I parked inside Mega Chicken parking lot and ended trip.
So I told her to wait in my car while she order for another ride, she couldn't due to network issue with her phone. At this point she was restless, saying she really needs to beat rush hour traffic yen yen yen, told her madam calm down let me order for you from my end, she agreed.
Pam pam I don order, driver called, he requested for destination, i told him. Bros say I'm sorry I cant go to that place, abeg cancel. Madam say why we they run from her destination, I just laughed, no give reply.
Madam come say make I put Airport road that she will find her way from there, good enough. Next driver accepted to go, he was just at the car park so it was fast and easy, madam left with the guy and all the while my car was idling with AC on.
After she left I went back online and request entered immediately, pick up Oando just after Mega Chicken, called rider and destination was Lekki, I was happy.
Time to leave the parking lot, engaged gear into R, gehgehgehgehgeh, car went off and it has not started since then.
As I no get energy to they find mechanic upandan inside sun, I leave am there enter inside Mega Chicken say make I relax, wrong move , I don buty catfish and Plantain Amala chop. I cant kill myself. Enjoy boss, its ur money and now that u are back online more money to ur wallet. |

Felicity001: Nice judgment, fantastic criticism and good understanding of the whole matter.
Just like you pointed out. Yes, it’s absolutely true she haven’t even seen half of her capital let alone profit, reason I feel so sorry and sad for her because the dealer that sold the car to her took advantage of her naivety and ignorance selling an accidented car to her. In addition to that the engine shorts oil, I checked for any leakage I couldn’t find.
Talking about using the car for family purpose, No! I won’t agree to that neither will I take any defense as well, as the engine was far below the gauge I’d to carry out emergency servicing that very morning because I couldn’t have driven the car all the way from abule egba to agor. After carrying out servicing off course I’ve to crack the engine and like I said my intention was to deliver the car to her when I return from family “waka”. It is well boss, just try and understand r frustration as well. I can only advice d lady to sell d car and salvage whatever she can get from the car... Giving it out to d 6th driver won't b of good for busines stall. I can imagine, even d money u gave to her will still go back to same car. |

Felicity001: There are things I learnt from this little experience within this few weeks and on both ends.
First, as a renter don’t rush into accepting a car due to financial pressures you maybe having, better opportunities always abide so long your set you mind at it.
Before you tell other persons off when looking for a rental, test drive one or two cars if you can test more else you’ll fall back to square 1 worst than before.
And to all of those car owners who believe setting a high target is best, the truth is, yes. The aim of every business is to make profit but don’t do it to the detriment of your business. Setting a high and unrealistic target will definitely affect you and your business in the long run because employees will always come and go no matter the training you give to them or amount spent on them the moment they don’t feel comfortable anymore they’ll leave if you like have the best equipments, structure or facilities on ground. In the end it you and your business that will suffer the most. Sorry to read all dis boss, but I want to believe matters are tabled here for both view and review... In as much as I won't like to judge the lady in question, we have different way of reaction and assimilation, she might not have gotten half of her investment, like u said the going was good and she is willin to do her best, probably dia is a link missing or she is going through what she can't take for the day, try and find out. My only concern on ur part here, if I'm not mistaking, you should have use ur car for family purpose and let her own b strictly for business, u promised to drop d car, d moment u crack d engine, it should b straight to her house. You didn't tell us the amount that seem too high or what you think is feasible for better partnership. |

But guy come to think of it, sometimes the rich also cry o so it could be that he had some challenge at that point in time which he can’t really relate to you. You know it’s not everybody that can open up theirs wounds for everyone to see. So let’s try to see life differently sometimes.
Thank God shall and next time make sure you get your alert before your rider leaves your presence or better still make it clear you don’t accept transfer payment. Who doesn't accept transfer payment should please come forward I don't have a doubt of not getting my money, my concern is stressing me over my money, I should have put that behind me since Sunday, I'm not selling building materials or did he give me contract to construct anything that will lead to owing. If he have a problem, he should b bold enough as a man and relate, rather than wearing the big man crown. He did not transfer the money, I left on his order not to worry, I can go, he will send d money and I have to obey that cos I know deep within its a done deal |

Felicity001: And some persons are calling it greed and wickedness simply because another person says sincerely he can only afford to do 25k weekly.
My brother please just let it go if he doesn’t send your money please just leave him since he’s a pastor surely God who stated the law of Karma in his word “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Gal 6:7 will surely pay him back some day.
Also look at it this way, you were heading home right? One question i like you to ask your self is this, had you not gotten that ride wouldn’t you have drove down home empty? So see it as a sacrifice.
I shared with you guys how one dude scammed me of 2k+trip fare of 400 till now he didn’t pay.
Another lady 2500 Another 100 Another 100 Another 3k
The list goes on and on, that doesn’t include police, LASMA, VIO and the rest. But in all God is still keeping me going.
Lastly, that somebody did you wrong or treated you bad shouldn’t change the good person that you’re m, otherwise, you weren’t a good person from the very instance. Thank u boss, but like I said I loan dem the money, it is a repayable debt deh can't escape except it is the will of God. About karma, she is slow lately, why leave what I can do in her hands? If u keep allowing him to get away with stupid things like this, they will do it to other people, which I feel its bad cos u r encouraging it, they can't try this nonsense with a danfo driver. About going home? I don't know anything about that, they don't even know I share same street with them, as far as I'm concern, I'm still on duty and responsible for anything that happens to dem before drop off. AngryIgboMan: You can tell your story to the marines Sir! Any driver that listens to this your advise is at serious risk already. Am a realist and I choose not to be cowed into submission by any bagger rider.
What the likes of you and Dru23 don't understand is that we are all different! It all boils down to temperament. I repeat, IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO TEMPERAMENT. Just as our finger prints are unique, so is our temperament. You don't expect every human being to react same way to similar situations. That same I AM SORRY MA from driver A can become THUNDER FAYA U with driver B.
There are those you will never see react no matter what you throw at them. They are so thick skinned and mean.
But there are people like me who react energy for energy. I GIVE POSITIVE ENERGY FOR POSITIVE ENERGY. I ALSO GIVE DARK ENERGY FOR DARK ENERGY. Thats my principle of survival. I will use 3 different stories of my experience in Uber to illustrate.
Experience 1 (Gbam Gbam Gbam Gbam Gbam Gbam Gbam Gbam)
Me: Hello Ma. Good afternoon. You requested for Bolt. Is this address correct and where are you heading to?
Rider: What kind of stuppid questions are these? Oga please hurry because am late. I don't have time to answer nonsense.
Me: Madam, begin to trek to your destination immediately. Because if you enter my car, sorry is your name.
The woman fear cancel immediately.
Experience 2 (Tulululum Tulululum Tulululum Tulululum)
Me: Hello Ma. You requested for Uber. Am at Lateef Jakande. I want to confirm your address is 100001 Acme road.
Rider: Why are you not on your way yet? Oga am tired of these nonsense from you drivers. Am very late for church. 2 drivers have cancelled on me and I will be very angry with you if you cancel.
Me: Madam is that a threat? Hope you know this is my car right and am not your personal driver? You must behave well mannered if you want this ride to happen. Be courteous of your next words because you lack courtesy.
Rider: You must be very stuppid for implying I lack manners.
Me: Madam THUNDER FAYA You. Nkita lachagi gi anya dia
I cancelled and blocked her line with immediate effect.
Experience 3 (Tulululum Tulululum Tulululum Tulululum)
Me: Hello Madam. Good afternoon. You requested for Uber. Are you at 51b blah blah blah Lekky county homes and where are you heading to
Rider: Hello sir. Good afternoon. Please am heading just close by to buy food. Please don't cancel on me as many drivers have cancelled. Am really hungry. Please will you come?
Me: Am on my way ma.
After Trip, Uber said I should collect 330. Seems she is on small bonus. Madam gave me 400. I told her to keep it coz I wanted her to eat more.
Its my car after all and I can decide who to give free ride or not.
MORAL OF STORY
Ehailing in Nigeria is more of survival. You can be nice and die there being nice. Nobody really gives a fucck about you in this country especially in a cosmopolitan city like Lagos where everybody is mad and angry.
Nigerians are highly exploitative. Most of them that are nice to you is because they are already scheming on how to use you for one ulterior motive or the other. You mentioned he was asking the driver if he was married. What has that question got to do with anything?
In fact to me, that driver is very stuppid for entering the woman's house after the job. What if she accuse him of rape? What if she is a human parts dealer or a drug trafficker? You mentioned Anambra. Am from Ananmbra and am not trying to stereotype. But what if that woman was already seeing the young man as a conduit for drugs to Indonesia or Thailand? So many what ifs!
As far as am concerned, my work with you ends immediately I drop you. Infact, I clear call log after every trip to avoid temptation of calling you back or "keeping in touch".
In summary sir, Being nice in the face of obvious hostility can cost you your life in Lagos or elsewhere in Nigeria. This is not Europe. Things can escalate pretty quickly if you don't act smart.
By the way if I may ask, Dru23 that has been saying things about being enduring and humble in the Service industry in order to become a boss... What has he achieved with his live aside retailing Mobil oil amd arguing with people on Nairaland? I dig the exploitive part, but like it has been said " Wisdom is the principal thing"... Its an unfair world out dia and I have to stay in tunes with my realities and what work for me, as long as my conscience is well guilded, then opinion or perception can b feed to those that need it. I'm learning, this life is majorly formed by our experience... Last night I was at Iwaya ard Yaba after using 1/2 destination trip, both start acting up, giving me a pick up point at Ikeja, while I have Ogba as my destination. Luckily I saw a 5 mins drive, rider changed his mind and gift me 1k for d effort. I was able to get mende from dia and as I was about to go offline since I've exhausted my destination setting, trip dropped in, while thanking if I should cancel or call d rider... A small voice in me ask me to call, I did and he was going to Ogba. Got to pick up point and from what I can deduce, he is a pastor, deh just got done with church and need to get his family home, while he finish up with church matters, so he ask me to drop my account number. Lo and behold dis people were going to my street (15 blocks from mine), I drop them and call d pastor, he promise to send my money and up till dis moment I'm yet to get my money. I've tried to reach dem twice today, all to no avail. My view: human being will always be human, olosho or pastor. So you have to be well guilded when dealing with human. |

peacefulhome: Same here. Was even surprised when they kept saying otherwise. We learn every day. I will just have to adjust and start using sir. I've try not to delve into d Oga matter, cos I don't have a clear tot regarding it... But from my own angle, if I'm with a lady dat is nagging or stressing me, I use madam to address her henceforth & deh don't find it funny "so I'm now madam?" ... Just like most girl's or lady's don't like to b address as woman. Where I live, everyone tries to b formal, even couple dat happened to b deeper life uses sir/ma to address each other (so unromantic *frown face*), i dont like it, but I've to get in tune wit dem. On d handle hand I don't care Oga, sir, guy, chairman, boss is just a matter of d rider in question, mine is to secure d bag... We should note sometin here, when we speak to a rider over d phone is a different ball game to when we meet one on one, then we know d proper manner if approach one deserve. But one tin I've noticed, unmarried folks (eps ladies), don't like to b referred to as sir/ma/Oga, how it makes dem feel? I don't know but deh just don't find it comfortable enough I have a client in his 50s, he practically ask me (not once or twice) not to use sir on him, he doesn't like it, but I don't know how to go about chatting with him without adding the sir at interval... When he gave me a gift worth 20k, I didn't even remember when I add d sir to d thanks. Crazy part is we now officially address each other as sir, cos he mocks me with Oga sir. |

Freshprince91: Dokyoloye, the general term 'Oga' can be an hallmark of respect among contemporary Nigerians but its different with these Olosho girls especially with their tone . You need to walk a mile in our shoes to understand what we go through . One just ruined my day as i am typing this. When i got her request at Lekki , i put a call through to ask for destination and she flared up, so i tried to explain that I've been dodging VIO officers for sometime due to my broken tail light, that i have been extorted on this job enough, so i'd like to keep away from their troubles (12pm -3pm) even though i knew i will be at fault, if they apprehend me but ain't gat the money to buy a new brake light, she hissed throughout the call and later VGC. Midway through our journey, i perceived some foul smell, i had to open the window for fresh air but the odour didn't go away, Damn! When we got to ikate, i told her i need to pull over to check what's smelling, only for me to discover that this girlie don shit for body inside my chacha leather seats Ford Mondeo It was nauseating and before i could utter a word, she vomited. I had to rush to get her water to clean up. My car is messed up already and the only word she mutter was i will give you 500 naira to clean your car at a car wash. I felt like slapping this skele and after i managed to take her to her destination, rudely, she said she does not have any money on her, that the person she came to see is not picking her calls . She didn't even give me the pleasure of an apology. This was someone who lashed out at me for not putting on my AC before i drove to her street, hissed at me because my car charger didn't recognize her iPhone cord. What would you do in that situation? now I can understand |

temb: Good afternoon fellow drivers, I met a client through taxify sometimes two months ago, we started doing offline trips at which he paid for the first two trips, of which he eventually borrowed 20k promising to transfer it to my account after the trip, well as it happens both the 20k and the money for trip which Is worth 50k, he refuses to pay. BIKO PLEASE HELP A FELLOW DRIVER. His numbers are 07053134858, 09021008220. His name is david Bricks and in all social media with that same name. He knows me as Benjamin. I've been dia and I am still dia, I have rider that always pile her debt to 120/150k and she does pay, just as I've had d one that pile up to 70 and he did pay... Chemistry, body language and the service u r selling matters at dis point, I render service that is almost impossible to get else where (with humility I say dat), so I'm not scared of d eventual. So boss, what do u have on dis person of interest? House address? Office? Hangout spot? Did u transfer the 20k to him? Ur first trip with him, can u trace it? Can u tell is financial strength? Do you still communicate wit him? Did he openly tell you to forget the money? Any close person I've observed around him? Imbtw: who's is Suleiman here? The guy is a very wicked sharp person... You picked a rider today from opebi to eko hotel area, trip of 1:30 mins with a distance of 46km ended at 10,000 naira plus toll gate I guess u use an invisible toll gate on 3MB fear ur creator small oga or u saw 3.2 surge today |

Felicity001: Bro you speak sense and with lot of experience in the hustle. For heaven sake, these bolt riders are so annoying, especially the ladies. Do they think Uber/bolt drivers are all illiterate or stupid? I just pray I don’t loose my temper on any one day I honestly will be glad to give one a dirt stupid slap in the face.
I think you put her in her place with your action and I’m sure she will compose herself with the next driver she gets. Boss what can one do... We have to keep learning |

Freshprince91: You have a point bro. I don't think my destiny is cut out for this hustle anymore. The seatbelt issue is beyond me as i do not have words for it : because i made sure the lady strapped the belt before we left Magodo and midway through our journey, she complained of stomach upset and asked if i could pull over and help her adjust her seat, which i did, she even made mockery of me, trying to sneak in between her Legs. I guess it was that discomfort that made her loosed it, hoping to put it back before she fell asleep and I didn't notice because i was so fixated on my phone, trying to hide it from FRSC (Google map offence). She tried to make a case for herself when my car was flagged down but those FRSC officials were not having any of her pleas, i was just looking like a zombie devoid of what to say. Regarding the petty thief that stole my 5400 naira from the car arm rest, she must have seen the wads of cash when i opened the armrest for her to make use of the car charger. So, when my car battery misfired and i pulled over to fix it, she stole the money and i had no premonition it happened until the next rider asked for 100 naira to buy bottled water , that was when i knew i have been robbed. I understand boss, but I'm yet to see anything above human here. Do you remember d argument about driver not trusting riders here? At no point r u meant to trust any rider, the moment u finish checking on ur battery, u would have acted like u need to take sometin from d armrest, jst to check if ur money is still breathing. I put money in my car holder and my eyes don't move an inch away from dia, even if I have to open d booth for rider to take his/her belongings, I'll still find a way to check if my chopped off footwear is still dia. About the road safety, I hope d woman was kind enough to part with something? All these r nothing beyond human, u just have to b careful and prayerful at d same time. For me now, once anybody enters d car, sitbelt is d song I play to dia ear, some will even sit at d back and still belt (inside my mind, better! u must have lived in a sane society, sha use back sitbelt suffocate urself lyk dat). It is well boss, be strong, better dayz ahead. |

1daboi: I was at o car office today (jobi fele way) mehn, the whole onboarding process looks like a joke to me. Even the training was as if we were in a market. Real joke boss, from the presumed contract staffs to the arrangement, like some Chinese IT guys came ard to use us as test. |

Freshprince91: @1daboi, are you interested? I'm calling it quit December 31st by God's grace. Its like one need a special kind of training to drive in Lagos : from LASTMA's trap to a girl stealing my money in my car arm rest to FRSC sitbelt fine. Nna, i am tired, i cannot come and kill myself. In between there's something i have observed within 3 months of my Ehailing journey : there are good days you'll get tired of accepting requests. I mean using a 3400 naira fuel to gross 18k like i did yesterday and there were days, that amount of fuel won't gross 10k, you'll just chin up and take it as one of those days. I think I'll write a book soon titled 'The Perils of driving in Lagos ' Dem don show me pepper for this work. boss abeg no make me laff, I don't think sorry can soften ur heart at dis point. How much did she steal? I tot I share my sitbelt experience, so we all can pick one or few things from it. I wish we can talk on some spiritual reasoning, cos if a car owner like u is feeling dis way, I wonder wot someone on rental will do. Las las, dis experience is life, u can't b wise/sound without trying times. |

chillex8: Bro I concur with Rubbish. If I were you, I won't answer her calls. Request cancelled, transaction ended.
Once my uber phone Rings when am not online, I will never answer. Cos there's no reason why my uber phone should be ringing when I've got no request. End of each day, I clear my logs. Whatever happened the previous day, I can't remember. I don't care. Ending all trips, concluded all transactions with riders. Yep, I agree with u boss just as I've said, I don't get into loggerheads with riders, call or text after cancellation, but dis particular seek attention and I just have to serve her for the sake of next driver. We just have to give them orientation in d best possible way we can... I'll give u 2 case 1. Today I got a request, she was going to mountain of fire along ibafo, told her I can't due to lack of trip, hoping she will negotiate offline, but she didn't. She try to talk me in with I can drive down to Berger and I'll get trip back to Ikeja we both laugh and share that understanding this can't work. 2. Another trip I took and have to relate with the rider was a lady that requested from OMole to BRT park Berger, I didn't ask for destination. I have to make her understand the distance I covered to pick her on a trip of 300 hundred and now I have to use the express as my only exit back to lateef jakande rd. So I think riders and drivers should b able to relate and understand each other well unlike the once that felt they own d driver and can use one as rag if it pleases dem. |
