googi:You are entitled to your paranoia! Meantime, try and write in simple English. |
So you mean that every politician ever acquitted by the court is because the person is innocent? Can you tell me how these judges sentence common criminals to jail terms of even 100+ years, but when it comes to trialing politicians and bigwigs they throw out the case "due to legal technicalities"? You mean people like Orji Kalu, Tinubu, Dansuki, Atiku, Saraki whose cases have either been thrown out of court or going in snail speed, would not have been convicted and sentenced to harsh terms if the trials were to take place in US or UK or South Korea or even Senegal, for example? Are you also saying that all “common accused” who have been discharged and acquitted should have been jailed for 100+ years? This type of psychological manipulations of your audience against your perceived political opponents is the sum total of the entire Buhari politics. Such can only appeal to emotionally unstable folks who lack self-confidence and ability to compete fairly in an open sphere. To you, it is an excellent thing if people you don’t like are held up in trump-up charges without open and transparent legal process to assert their culpability or innocence. People who use their minds more than their emotion don’t fall for such; even if it’s against their staunchest political foes. If you remove such emotional exploitation of gullible minds from Buhari’s politics, what is left is total emptiness; which has SHOWN clearly in the last 2 years of his governance. The number of able-bodied folks that have been turned to destitute is increasing daily. The number of people who are ready to jump into the Lagoon at the slightest sign of life’s setback (even by highly trained top uniformed officers) is also a clear evidence of this. Come up with proofs that this judge and those people you mentioned are indeed guilty of the allegations and convince the trial judge(s) why you think they should be sentenced to 100+ years. Nothing stops the EFCC/DSS/ICPC etc. from appealing the sentences up to the Supreme Court if they are dissatisfied with the rulings. That is the most basic fulcrum upon which democracy and the rule of law rest – IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR PERSONAL FEELINGS OR FRUSTRATIONS. |
Daviddson:You sound like a very FRUSTRATED and an UNSUCCESSFUL fellow. This is very archaic. And it's exactly what the trial judge said. Modern society's law doesn't operate on JEALOUSY or BITTERNESS of unfortunate people. When you suspect someone might be living beyond his means you should have a reasonable proof of his or her wrongdoing before you jump into conclusion. You are just accusing the man from a mind filled with ENORMOUS NEGATIVITY. Did you see the "hundreds of thousands of dollars" with your eyes? Did you witness the judge being "bribed" with it as you claimed? Why didn't you volunteer as a witness and claim your 5% as a "whistle-blower" from Lai Mohammed thereafter? You don't start SPEWING bile against successful people because you are not OPPORTUNE. It is the same DSS, which said they conducted a STING OPERATION. A sting operation is to catch a criminal at the point of committing the crime. How come the operation did not lead to any reasonable evidence to successfully prosecute this judge and his wife as attested to by the trial judge? |
Tinubu's greatest ambition ever is to be the VICE president of Nigeria. All he is doing is trying to use his early announcement to leverage the VP slot with whomever. He doesn't want to be 'shortchanged' this time. |
Baba, Nigerians are already impoverished. They have taken us back 40 years. They brought 'economic plague' to Nigeria since 2015. It's worse than ebola. The masses are already too harassed. They don't even know what to do again. The foolish choice of only 15 million Buhari voters has given us the most horrific economic catastrophe in living memory. |
Tifemide2017:Who then influenced the Lagos State government from appealing his 'release' since 2013? |
In a functional society, this guy and others should have been arraign for crime against humanity. For selling a bad product to Nigerians. Imagine selling a fake pharmaceutical product to people to ingest. The number of people who have died as a result of fake Buhari product sold by these charlatans is enough reason to prosecute them for premeditated mass murder. |
In this modern era, Palestinians are Jordanians by nationality. The Jordanian laws confer citizenship to all Palestinians everywhere and allow them to settle and make a living in Jordan should they wish to. This includes Palestinians in Gaza and the West Banks. As a matter of fact and politics, some elements in Jordan (opposition to the minority Hashemian ruling elites) have called for the convergence of all Palestinians in their country, Jordan. About 75% of Jordanian population is Palestinian. The main contention are the claims to the Holy Sites and Jerusalem which the Palestinians say are theirs but which the Jews too claim as belonging to them and Jerusalem as the 'eternal capital of the Jewish people'. Additionally, Israel wants the Palestinians to recognize the nation of Israel as a Jewish nation and Jerusalem as the capital. So far none of them has made any shift in position. The international community had tried to mediate between them arriving at several accords culminating in a two-state solution. But the contentious issues remain unsolved. |
Unfortunately, as soon as Buhari comes back all this will be jettisoned for the archaic model of 'banning' Champagne altogether. |
A toxic person and a toxic government will keep repeling any good thing. Who will invest in a country where he/she would be called a thief? Who will bring his money to a country where it's difficult to repatriate his profit? |
HtwoOw:This your post actually confirms suspicion that many like you think at the most elementary level. People whose minds are incapable of processing even some basic information. When you heard national security, your mind must have pictured some gatemen standing at building gates all over the nation. You have a long way to go. You should do some findings on what constitute national security first. Then go further to find out what CIA does. |
EFCC should take Shamsudeen Bala to court and stop 'accusing' him in the media. Let the media report what he has actually been charged with and not what he is GOING TO BE charged with. |
FastShipping:That's why I said you would wish he was elected earlier, when the Obama/previous "refugees" come of age. |
FastShipping:You can see your fellow anti Trump already coming out with his intention. We haven't even left this board yet his true color has shown clearly. |
FastShipping:Just take things easy Ogbeni, it is well. It is better to keep away terrorists than organizing candle-lite processions for victims of terror after the fact. |
Horus:Lol... |
FastShipping:Lol... Donald Trump is demonstrating leadership. Take it easy sha, everything will be alright. |
FastShipping:Take it easy, bro. The world is not coming to an end. Prevention is better cure. Terrorists don't know anybody. In Nigeria, the government unashamedly proclaim that Fulani terrorists are from other countries. Is that what you want Trump to tell you when they come for you? |
FastShipping:Don't be unnecessarily worked up. You didn't present the detail of the said case for proper analysis, but be rest assured that parties in suits are at liberty to point judicial bias seen as having the potential to influence the decisions of judges. It could be because of Trump's issues with Mexico and may feel any judge with ties to Mexico won't do justice to his case. |
FastShipping:It's not the policy. It's the implementation. Executions get messy at the begining. They will sort all those out in coming days. Stay calm. Terrorists are blood thirsty. They spill human blood without blinking eyelids. You would wish Trump was elected earlier in the next couple of years when the Obama "refugees" come of age. |
FastShipping:Calm down! Terrorists don't care about US federal judges or the US constitution. They only recognize the Sharia Law. Donald Trump is trying to protect his people. That is what responsible leaders do. |
Very many Christian Uncle Toms abound; who are ready to 'reason' away the gruesome slaughter of Christians and systematic wiping out of Christianity in the North. Why is it difficult for the likes of Simon Kolawole to call for the arrest and prosecution of Fulani terrorists who have been responsible for these mass murders? Is it the definition or narrative of the crisis that is more important than apprehending the blood thirsty savages who are bent on killing their way down to the Atlantic Ocean? What does it matter if the matter is Christian/Muslim or Fulani/Kaje or Kataf? Is murder not murder? Does it mean if Fulani kills Berom we should be okay with the killers since it is after all not a religious conflict? Can this man show us a single instance in his numerous examples where no arrests were made of the suspected killers/murderers of these "ethnic conflicts"? Is there anywhere the governors of these states went out their ways to pay the murderers to stop slitting the throats of the children, pregnant women and the men he mentioned? |
Where were they when Theresa May, the British PM was going to America? Couldn't they have petition to stop her instead? Considering that she is the one doing everything to cozy up to the new administration in Washington. |
kabrud:Only chronically insecure folks imagine dense "ethnic interpretation" of WHAT HAS NOT HAPPENED, and still wonder why their conjectures are identified as having little or no chance of occurring. |
kabrud:Do you need it in Fulfude translation? |
Pasca07:My brother, they do whatever comes to their minds at the CBN. There's no new policy anywhere. Based on reports (and confirmed by Emefiele himself in the last MPC briefing) their exchange rates are applied selectively. There are different rates for different individuals, companies and religious groups. Buhari himself told the Al Jazeera lady that foreign students should source their forex in the black market. He said it is 'tough luck' for them. There's no indication that this has changed. You may call your bank for information. |
kabrud:Buhari won't remove Emefiele. He prefers docile people around him. It's safe for him to leave him there than to be confronted with the pressure of appointing a sound expert who would look him in the face and call his bluffs. |
davodyguy:That was what Sanusi did the last time. That's the stuff they call 'defending the naira'. It's an archaic monetary instrument. He simply emptied the foreign reserves despite warnings from the IMF. (Ironically, the same Sanusi is their in Kano trying to warn Buhari of something similar.) The dollar is an internationally traded currency. What you'll see (which happened in Sanusi's time) is that speculators will buy up the 'liquid' dollars being 'pumped' out by the FG and resell in arbitrage trading either in the country or in other jurisdictions. It was foolish the last time Sanusi did, it is foolish right now, it'll be foolish in the future. Emefiele remains a docile guy. He lacks self confidence because he didn't dream of ever becoming a CBN governor. He had the temerity to say they are not doing complete floating policy, he mentioned something like 'guided floating'. It is still the same 'mediaval' policy of controlling the exchange rate that has pushed the rates beyond tolerable limits. There's no where this policy has worked efficiently. The last part of your post is a blatant fallacy. Exchange rate is a function of demand and supply of foreign currency, AND speculation. You have only mentioned one aspect of the three indices. There are more suppressed demand right now that it would be foolish to expect the dollar exchange rate to be back to $1/N200 if the crude oil price rises. In any case, the crude oil price has risen from the low of $27 to the current $55 in less than 2 years and exchange rate keeps rising. What is responsible for this? Modern nations don't suppress demand of foreign goods by banning items, neither do they control supply by 'pumping liquid dollars'. They do these things with both fiscal and monetary instruments. Increase tarrifs on luxury items would have a desired effect on consumption of same without disruptions in the system than the nonsense they are doing now. Similarly, allowing free flow of capital (both inward and outward) would encourage foreign capital inflow than waiting endlessly for the price of crude oil to rise (something you have absolutely no control over) which may not rise in months or years. |
krendo:Is Melanie from Syria or Somalia? |
Liberals with their extremely dangerous demagoguery. This is a guy who can't even tolerate opinions of people different from his own on his platform. A post about degenerate homosexual practices is taken down almost instantaneously on facebook. Compared to the nations under focus by the executive order, how many Chinese are terrorists? How many Germans have been caught trafficking drugs? Why can't Zuckerberg offer assistance to his government on proper identification of terrorists instead? |
President Shehu Shagari did not die in office. He is from Sokoto State. |
We certainly do not have proper use for our human resources in Nigeria. We don't select based on previous work experience. The TV hypes and newspaper columns window dressing normally blind us to reality. Fashola's skill sets are in traffic control and mass transit, he should have been appointed as the Federal Road Safety Commission's head or minister of transport. Going by his performance with LASTMA and BRT, he was best suited for the above sectors. Or better still, to head the environmental sanitation and hygiene department in FCDA because of his LAWMA performance. But hey, take a look at the person who appointed him. He too was best suited for the headship of a propaganda department in EFCC or ICPC. |
