ekanDamie:It's obvious you have more learning to do. Here are simple words of advice for you; whether or not you take to them is entirely up to you. When you get into a public forum going forward, refrain from making unintelligible comments in matters above your current school syllabus. You should read and learn; use google to find out the meanings of words, phrases, concepts and definitions terms; and then go back to your peers and make informed contributions at that level. It'll save you the hassles of calculating 'how much $25b is'. |
Barrow has not even been sworn-in in the Gambia yet. Why the reference to him now? Will you come back again next time to 'regret' if (God forbids) he falls short of your expectations? Many of you guys are just interested in current raves and noises. There's no credible intellectual who can say that he/she was not aware of Buhari's legendary double standards during his regime in the 1980s. No sensible person doesn't know that he lacks the required capacity in this modern age to lead even a local government. You people should just take your disappointments to one corner and stop pushing yourselves out as if you have any credibility. You were driven more by HATRED, but covered with bogus pseudo intellectual analysis. The hated one is gone now and you don't know what you can do with the 'saint' you preferred. There's no 'Ogogoro Master' to vent your personal frustration on, deal with your disappointment personally, Nigerians are too preoccupied with how to get their lives out of the quicksand they are in presently. No one cares about your bitterness now. |
ekanDamie:Dear Prof., The first paragraph of the 'lecture' you quoted already provided the basic needed 'answer', which you unnecessarily repeated in yours. And, if you know just a little of what reserves is all about, you won't refer to a $25b reserves as 'huge'. Maybe you should try and get your understanding correctly. The report says your 'huge' reserves can only support 6 months of import. Additionally, this report in question says borrowed funds from AfDB ($600m) has been added to the reserves, which is responsible for the marginal increase, wherein lies your 'theory' about borrowing 'to meet economic needs' in this context? Before you jump into discussion to show you are running a master's degree next time, try and get the context to avoid mixing too many things up. |
This is very bold for a politician from the north. Nigeria is in dire need of a fundamental restructuring. It'll require a massive political, fiscal and social re-engineering/surgery to pull through. However, Atiku needs to spend more time on working on his image, which Obasanjo successfully altered in the minds of many people. It won't be easy, but who says it's not possible? If Buhari can be whitewashed without doing any major self improvement for decades, anything is possible. David Axelrod is still around, and those other type of people who sold darkness to Nigerians as daylight. Nevertheless, Atiku is a billion times better in governance than Buhari; socially, politically, fiscal and economic issues, etc. he is lightyears ahead of Buhari. Other questions he needs to research and provide answers to are the issues of resource control, the Land Use Act, the issue of Sharia - both social and political. Since he said there's no boundary on what we can put to the table. Let us hear more about these issues and make up our minds. |
Akshow:They can't generate enough income to run their budget. They miscalculated on fines and taxes through bogus assumptions from Lagos IGR conjectures/exaggerations - recall that they slammed MTN over a N1trn fine - such were the amount of irrationality they brought to government. They couldn't swallow their pride to accommodate the Niger Delta amnesty program that has proven workable since Yaradua administration. They stopped the amnesty program immediately they assumed office just because of an over-bloated ego. The pipeline surveillance contracts awarded to ensure a 'buy-in' of the Niger Delta and forestall sabotage were similarly crudely stopped. Not because they found any alternatives with technology or military superior techniques but to just satisfy their irrational ego - 'the New Sherrifat in Town things.' The results were a devastating blowout of oil pipelines that has reduced our production capacity significantly. And then they lacked the foresight and requisite strategies, skills and experience to deal with the oil price volatility. We couldn't even get buyers for our oil at a point. They can't attract any tangible foreign investments - both portfolio and FDI. No investor takes us seriously. Those already in are leaving. Those who don't have immediate exit plans are not expanding, they are merely 'coping'. Reports had it that over $80b dollars was pulled out of the country by investors in the first six months of this government. Now, the country has totally been ran aground by Buhari and his gang. No money and no financial institution is ready to lend to us - except Akinwumi Adesina's AfDB that has granted us this paltry $600m, which they have added to the foreign exchange reserves and for which they are clinking glasses all over town. Note that the request made to AfDB was for $1b. The 'multi-quadrillion dollars' they alleged was 'looted' and for which they roamed the whole planet to 'repatriate' has not yielded anything. They don't even have money to pay to forensic accountants and lawyers to help them 'trace the loots'. What is more? The TSA as the 'cure-all capsule' has proven to be a disaster. That is why ASUU is militant about getting itself excluded from it. More organizations with enough 'industrial muscles' could follow on ASUU's steps to opt out soon. Food costs will continue to increase; very soon, basic medicines and drugs in the hospitals will disappear, leading to high mortality rate. More companies will close down - with the attendant loss of jobs in the millions. Now, we are at the most vulnerable position we have ever been fiscally. IMF and World Bank are excited about our situation, as it were. They will come with their extreme 'policy support instruments' to be met with little or no formidable resistance, because, at this juncture we don't have any leverage. No bargaining chips. We are in a very bad shape. |
The kind of confusion on the LEFT since Donald Trump's win is alarming. The left is in total ruin. There seems to be no coherence in anything they say or write - from Obama to Krugman to Soyinka to etc. Their thought pattern has been eternally altered; they are now blabbing all over the place without making any common sense. It definitely hard for the people who have been used to intellectual bullying to suddenly realize that the world 'doesn't send' them anymore. No bully pulpit to force down their concocted opinion on humanity again. Their media power is being challenged by independently thoughtful persons - even before our yesterday's gods conclude delivering the so-called opinion. The demystification is real. It'll take a whole generation to come to terms with the monumental loss. It seems Soyinka's own case is even more pathetic. The way he put Trump’s matter on his head ehn, one would be tempted to think his 'girlfriend' was also 'groped' by the enfant terrible. |
Liberals live on mind control. Their favorite 'food' is taking advantage of most blacks' semi-literacy condition and herd mentality. |
What is really happening in our country now? Does anyone know what is going on? Are these not the same 'social intervention schemes' that Buhari requested the moneys be moved to other projects just some few days ago? Did he not say in the letter that the implementations of the 'schemes' have been postponed till 2017? Did he not write that the budget of N500b of which N80b has already been expended (left with a balance of N420) would be used for those items listed? Where will Osinbajo get money to finance these 'schemes' of his now? What is going on in our country, God? Osinbajo is a pastor in RCCG. |
Sibrah:If that is how incompetent Buhari is, (as you have so ashamedly admitted) why can't he just resign and let other people try their hands on the country's governance? |
TomHagen:It looks like you are still an adolescent. Your 'energy is supercharged'. You see, the moment you utter statements like you don't care about how legal systems works, you reveal how un-riped or how damaged your reasoning processes are. They have done a great damage to your young mind and that is pathetic. Is arresting a suspect not part of the "legal technicalities" that you said you don't care about? You may know those who are guilty 'in your mind', congratulations, but not everyone is blessed with the gift of 'omniscience' to know what is not presented to the public. Neither Magu nor you has been given the authority to pronounce anyone guilty. It has been like that before you were born, it would be like that after you are long dead. There's nothing you can do about it. If you or Magu desire such powers, you can begin the process of becoming a judge. For now, you can go and deal with reconciling your illusionary reasoning with reality. |
Miles300:Very unfortunate! The next government after Buhari will be saddled with rebuilding our public institutions from the scratch again. These are the institutions we have spent billions to put to shape having been battered almost irreparably by the long military rule. Before our eyes, all the billions in monetary value and man-hour are coming to waste. They have set us back by almost 60 years and currently taking us back to the medieval times in less than 2 years. Sad! All the interventions of international organization in training our agencies have been rendered completely useless. And to say that many gladiators who fought for decent living and freedom we are taking for granted today are keeping mum. One would have thought that these are the kinds of things that should elicit reaction from Femi Falana, Olisa Agbakoba, and others who spent enormous resources in time, finance, sweat and blood. |
TomHagen:How do you know what he meant to say? Is he a child? He was once reported to have said that 'they would start preventing' lawyers from defending accused in the court. Could you explain what he meant by that too? How will you hound a lawyer for doing his job? If all lawyers are prevented from defending their clients, who will defend Magu if he becomes an accused in the future? Who doesn't know that a law enforcement agent should have a reason for arresting a suspect? Who is he trying to explain that to? The reason for arresting a suspect should be presented in the court. It is the judge that has been given the authority to either accept or reject Magu's reasons. No matter what you do and no matter how you feel, do not encourage the time tested legal system to be denigrated. If you blatantly support tyranny because of hatred, it'll sooner or later catch up with you. |
lailo:The modern world functions differently from what you prefer. It is the court of law that is saddled with pronouncing guilt. The law enforcement agents' argument and evidence should be convincing enough for conviction. If you get arrested in the future, we would still argue same on your behalf. |
Calm down. Whoever you arrest should be charged to court for prosecution. Whoever you arraign is presumed INNOCENT. You do not have the power to pronounce anyone guilty. No matter how militant you think you are EFCC is not a court of law. Only a court of competent jurisdiction can pronounce an accuse, standing trial before it, guilty. Mr. Magu, learn to be temperate, it will save you in the future. Almost all the occupant of your current seat have been alleged for one form of infraction or another by successive government - Nuhu Ribadu, Farida Waziri and Ibrahim Lamorde have all been 'found' to have misused their offices. Every one of them was/is presumed INNOCENT. If/when they arrest you too in the future it won't change, you would still be deemed INNOCENT until the court says otherwise. |
They said they have already spent a whooping N80b on the social intervention scheme form the N500b budgeted. (N500b budgeted minus N420b balance = N80b) Can anyone volunteer details on what N80b was expended on? This is the same scheme they said they can't implement in 2016 budget. |
That kind of elementary appointment can't elicit any excitement in such a high profile professional. You cannot built such excellent career only to come and waste it in one directionless government that does not know its left from its right. The professor should insist on being offered a cabinet level appointment if at all he would consider one in the future. Buhari can give this one to that man with a 1 year diploma certificate or anyone from Daura. |
It's now time for them to resign. |
The Guardian don't bother yourself. It's a 'ZERO BUDGET'! |
Daniel1990:He actually looked more stupid than Shehu to the embarrassment of his employers previously. That's probably why he was asked to lay low for sometime; same with Lai Mohammed. He was so carried away by the 'job' (or can we say it was Abati's demons) that it was not wise for them to put him forward again. You would wonder if he was in his right mind then. This piece is an attempt, perhaps, to redeem his battered image. If there was any evidence of Abati's demonic claims, Femi Adesina's case would likely be one. It has to be an 'unseen demonic force(s)' that would turn an erstwhile reputable professional to a chronic unashamedly unconscientious liar 'overnight'. |
Pastor Femi Adesina, being conscious of all you wrote should have cautioned you against blind support for Buhari and cooking up lies to defend him. Stop lying for Buhari and pray for forgiveness. Stop telling him what will make him feel good - 'like it is only those who hate him that are complaining of hardship'. His wife is now complaining up and down, and people like Dr Junaid Mohammed who threatened to make Nigeria 'ungovernable' for Jonathan are complaining too. Pray for courage and advise him to resign without delay, that is also part of what people do in everyday life. He has really messed Nigeria up in less than 2 years. |
aresssa:Sango owns fire! |
Built2last:Ok |
Qmerit:Ok |
talktonase:Oga, Ekiti is not Ilorin. Make a little findings. |
blackpanda:Where have those tact and wisdom been applied before and what are/were the outcome? |
figment232:Good for her. She was one of those who sold Plateau to APC in anticipation of bountiful reward only to be sent on exile to kill her dreams. |
OrlandoOwoh:She can't possibly realize her dream in exile. No serious politician will take up an ambassadorial post. It is suicidal to be out of the centre of political activities as an ambitious politician. |
It's forced exile. |
The truth will come out one day. How did they transport over 200 girls? They said it was a vehicular movement and that some girls jumped from the moving vehicles. How many vehicles did they use? What type of vehicle? Boko Haram have been seen with Toyota Hilux several times, it is safe to assume their operational vehicle is Hilux, then how may Hilux conveyed over 200 girls from Chibok on a single night raid? It seems they are looking for a way to reduce the number now. Boko Haram is saying some of the girls have been bombed to smithereens by the Airforce and that only a few are left, less than hundred more to be released. Is that a prelude to getting the "golden number 200+" discarded? These and many more questions will be answered one day. |
mrvitalis:He he he he he he he They have come again o o o 90% of government allocation is used for civil servants' salary? What!!! So your ZERO BUDGET has not reduced that to 70% yet? We are in the 6th month of the 'Zero Budget' implementation and the 'civil servants' salary alone' still constitutes 90% of government expenditure? What about the allocation of 30% to capital expenditure for the first time 'since the creation of the world'? What about the 'release of N1.8trn' capital funds to 'reflate' the economy? What is going on, ore? |
