Cocao:Good Thinking. I would have expected people to read the write-up and think reasonably but na lie, a sizeable number are blaming Buhari. The truth, as long as the Nigerian economy remains cash based, the job of front tellers and bulk tellers will not disapear soonest, Beside, we have been hearing this since the advent of technology itself. Before you quote me wrongly, I am not saying jobs will not be treathened but not in the immediate as be sounded here alarmingly. |
The highlight of the occasion was when a pair of twin ladies were rewarded for having first class in mathematics. The ovation was overwhelming. |
I will like whoever has time to google BABANI SISOKO or go to BBC and read his story and then come back to educate us all. Thank you. |
Wickedfacts:The reason why they cannot be touched in Nigeria in not because of the "dialectal variations" as you put it. Rather, it is because of the number of security details around them. You cannot try that with a state HOA speaker much less an Ekweremadu. |
Ritzy10:Thanks a million. I thot I was the only one who noticed this. If the man's response were to be used as a yardstick in judging the ministry and the government at large in the last 4 years, there is no doubting what the grade will be. Did you also noticed his response to the missing satellite? Indeed having first class holders as ministers may not necessarily translate to good result. |
gaetano:It is not out of place for a politician to be hated. But, one thing I keep asking is, how come nobody is disputing the achievements he claim in the media. 25 General hospitals, Staff quarters for High court judges, several kilometers of roads amongst others. Kindly enlighten me. |
Afonja007:Always get your fact right before commenting. In the meantime, take time to google super 6 and npfl. The result will help you come up with a better, well informed comment. |
VillagePipu:This your response is enough to send the guy out of Nairaland for ever. You harsh oooooo |
One begins to wonder the relevance of regulators in Nigeria these days. SEC bears it's fang, Oando goes to court. NBC bears it's fang, Daar goes to court. If we feel there is no need for regulation, why not do without it. |
Sturridge, the luckiest English man to win the champions league. With a catalogue of injuries and with little or no playing time. Where the likes of Owen and Shearer failed. |
That is what happens when the gods start perceiving the smell of jollof rice. |
Walking:Learning about trading in shares requires more: Do you take time to listen to business news on radio or TV? Or are you the type that changes the channel when it is time for business news? You have to start from there. Every business news should be of interest to you. start from there. Get someone that is a bit grounded in trading shares as a mentor (that is if you are presently on the zero level). Most importantly, you must have shock absorber especially when the value of your shares drop beyond redemption. I bought Dangote Flour at N17.21 last year january and it fell to as low as N5.70 this year. Thank God there is no sniper seller around me. Above all, determine what you want to buy for. Is it for the future or is it to buy and sell and make small change from time to time. Asking to be tutored about shares on Nairaland is like asking a lecturer to dictate a lecture note thru telephone. |
helinues:It is profitable especially since you are thinking long term. I bought GTB when they did their IPO around 2002/2003 @ N10.90K per unit. I bought 10,000 units then and with bonuses, I have about 33,000 units now. Yearly, with interim dividend and final dividend, I get at least N100,000 Yearly. I do not need to tell you I have recouped my investment several fold. I can say the same for other shares too. Most importantly, buying the shares now are future investment. What you save today, may be your saviour tommorrow. I can give you more tips only if you are ready with your consultation fees. Note that there are shares you should not go near. |
Ahsad:Good comment. Unfortunately, most people commenting here do not even know that the TVC they are talking about started the social media segment first on their breakfast show. It was discontinued when the comments were found to be offensive. Even in the face of glaring fact and evidences as shown by the NBC memo, Nigerians are still showing this level of support for gross violation. The hard truth is that the social media is where you can know who Nigerians are by their comment. |
Until a big corporate criminal is sent to jail, the corporate/business environment will remain the same. In saner climes, based on the outcome of an investigation by the appropriate regulators especially as this oando case is concerned, what the culprits will be pleading for is a jail term that is less harsh. But in Nigeria, the case is different. Rush to court, get an injunction and step 3 cry foul to the public and appeal for public sympathy. Thereafter, play the ethnic card. Finally, buy a portion of the press and hire professional image launderers in the name of economic analyst over the media. Pronto before long, we have forgotten the issue and the circle continues. |
efilefun:Whether good or bad, that is the usual norm. The much talked about relative peace during Ajimobi era was becos he had his favorites as the union leaders. Also do not forget that the last union worked tirelessly for Ajimobi while another faction worked for GSM. Probably, it is time for reward. |
emkz:If you follow the case very well, you should know that if the Hausa man had not fought dirty, the cowboys wanted to push him out. In fact, he was already out. Recall, the suspension of Oando shares by SEC and the intervention by SLS. |
airsaylongcon:Yes. Right angled triangles. Opposite, Adjacent and Hypotenus. The interview itself is over 10 years ago now. It is my son that is learning about the angles now. I need not tell you when last I learnt things like that. Cheers. |
Laid2001:In your own field, the Petroleum/oil sector, it will be unfair to compare any private uni with even PTI Effurun not to talk of UNIBEN. But, I doubt it if we can say the same about computer science and especially the social sciences. The fact remains that, we tend to under-rate the private unis (who are indeed making giant stride) while forgetting that some of the fed. uniis are only basking in old glory. The last time I check, Redeemers uni came to the rescue of Nigeria during the Ebola saga. |
[quote author=Laid2001 post=78897265]I would have allowed this to pass as a commentary on the general state of our education, but for the second item on the write-up. The op stated that the graduates from private universities are better than those from the federal universities. I beg to disagree. While, there has been a general degradation in our educational system in Nigeria, I still maintained that the Federal Universities are by far better than the private ones in Nigeria of today. This may be because of my area and industry as a whole but my experience is at complete variance with what the op said. I do sit on the interview panel for my company once in a while, as a technical assessor for engineering recruits, but that is not the only source of my assertion. I am a member of the society of petroleum engineers and we have two major competitions, the PETROBOWL and PETROQUIZ that we organize for the various universities in Nigeria. The winner in Nigeria normally goes ahead to represent Nigeria at the international competition normally during the ATCE outside Nigeria (mostly in US). The competition has always been won by Federal Universities, in fact Uniben has won the international competition before and that was the only time a Nigerian university won it. We also use to assess the petroleum engineering departments of universities in Nigeria and I can tell you that the private universities have a long way to go to catch up with the Federal ones. Now, that leaves the state owned universities in between. Many are useless and are just universities in name and a few are good. Yet, no Nigerian University is where they are meant to be in the comity of schools on the world stage. In your own field, the Petroleum/oil sector, it will be unfair to compare any private uni with even PTI Effurun not to talk of UNIBEN. |
If you have never being on an interview panel before, you will never know how terrible the situation is. I remember when we asked a graduate of Economics to differentiate between Micro and Macro Economics and hell was let loose. An undergrad of Mathematics was asked to mention the third angle of a triangle after Adjacent and Opposite and she was like..... The truth is, the situation is almost irredeemable and when HR people are raising the alarm, people in authority should listen. Possible cause? Very poor primary foundation. (Those grads from private unis that the OP said performed better had the better of primary edu) Corrupt secondary and tertiary education system. Students not knowing that there are days of reckoning waiting for the outside the 4 walls of the uni. Non existing leadership especially by having a round peg in a square hole. Solution: Follow what the holy spirit tells you. |
KingOfAllIgbos:"If he is taken to court and found guilty..... 100s of millions will leave his account". Just as you suggested, it has been translated to me in vernacular. However, I am suprised you do not know how to address the issue of Dangote being taken to court or HIS ORGANISATION being taken to court. In case of next time, differentiate the personality of Dangote and His organisation with a PLC where necessary. Above all, the social media is a downpour that has made is possible for the pigeon and the fowl to mingle together. More of your insults will be taken as pomade to perhaps rob bodi. |
KingOfAllIgbos:In the developed world you are making reference to, ALL the vehicles will be insured, the dead will have various forms of insurance policies and it WILL HAVE NOTHING CONCERNING DANGOTE. Dragging DANGOTE to court personally will not come to play. |
Quote me. This thread will not go beyond 2 pages. Not about Regina Daniel, not about Tonto Dike, not about the idiot impregnating women up and down and you want Nigerian youths to comment? By the way, you have not talk about factors that determine shares prices from time to time, factors that determine when to buy or sell and most importantly WARN Nigerians about the intrigues in the Nigerian stock market (that is if you yourself know) |
itpreneurng:They "pay thier dues" by servicing the directors. As simple as 123 |
When things are not getting on well with you, your phone will ring less. In other words, most people on your call list will abandon you. |
maynation:Ironically, the man they call "certificate less" knows the difference between stole and stolen. If you see the way people swap has and have on nairaland, you will go and thank the teachers of your children in nursery school. |
plaindealer:Are you new on nairaland? If you are not, it should not take more than two threads to know they are worse than the leaders they hate with passion. The point is, topics like this are not their best field for comment. Talk about Regina Daniels and Tonto Dike or Naira Marley now and you will see the best of them. On MTN shares performance on an earlier thread, somebody said that since the share price is going up and they are making more profit, He/She hopea they will reduce data price!. I almost cried. |
Chinashopping84:It is your constitutional right to be STUPID. However, do not infect others with your stupidity. Why not read and comprehend and if that is difficult, ask for this to be interpreted into Igbo for you. |
manitoba:You are a BAAAAD Nigga. |
MobilityExpress:Kudos!' You know what you are talking about. I jokingly asked my stockbroker on Friday and she confirmed to me that the units traded on the 1st day were done without the brokers (specifically thru the backdoor by the Mafia). Like you said, the economic realities will soon set in and most importantly, the mafia will soon download the units they have after making 30-40 % for gullible you and I to scramble over. Dangote Flour 2 weeks ago is a case in mind. |
Amuocha:One thing you cannot take away from Kemi is her firmness. She will go where she wants to irrespective of the hues and cries. |
