hakeembee: Ogami sir, lets be modest here. Can a person that doesnt do personal study graduate naturally. Well back to business, help us to calculate the total number of unit course you did throughout your undergraduate and see if its up to 180 ECTS minimum requirement. What you will get is between 150units-160units which is not up to 180 ECTS. We are here to learn, hope other bosses will speak on this. For a 4yrs course maximum unit course you can do per semester is 24units so per session is 48units which are nut usually exhausted most time because of carry over and missing grade allowance. Please answer my question first. I earned 185 units= 185ECTS. No carry-over, thank God. |

hakeembee: This might not be 100% correct info. 1ECTS is btwn 22-24hours of work load (including lectures, seminars, and assignment) I'm not guessing or putting forward my opinion, that is a fact! take it or leave it. When they tell you that 1ECTS=27hr (appx.), they refer to lectures, practical lab, exercises/ tutorial, assignments and student's personal study. Possibly you didn't do personal study when you were an undergraduate Happy new year BTW. |

temmy2008: thanks @genexy but I already sorted out the grading scale, they are asking me to convert my grades to ECTS not the grading scale. This question has been answered severally; most prospective students can save themselves the stress of asking some questions, by scanning through the previous pages of the thread. Better still, you may just search for the info you are looking for through the nairaland's search engine. That being said, 1ECTS=1cr in Nigerian system, i.e., your 2-unit course=2ECTS shikena! |

akinsbola452000: This your information is absolutely false! or upside down. UTA is the main University in Tampere, more rated and recognized than TUT and TAMK. In fact TUT and TAMK cannot award Phd in certain courses. Bachelor degree holders from TUT and TAMK cannot proceed to master's directly without working for few years. While UTA can award PhD in all courses. I have heard you. This may help: http://www dot 4icu dot org/fi/ TAMK is a polytechnic, how are they supposed to award degree not to talk of PhD in the first place? |

TUT is like the Unilag, while UTA is analogous to LASU. Another institution in Tampere- TAMK is comparable to Yabatech. TUT is the oldest and most reputable. Other institutions are also quite good in their rights. |

Growingboi: Thank you for the info. but the UAF application form says 1ECTS = 26 hours of study work. Does it mean that UAF is wrong? Yes, they are wrong. But the main thing is 1ECTS=1 cu. |

Growingboi: 1 ects = 1 unit course which is an average of 26 hours course work(lectures, assignments and lab work) Yes, 1 ECTS=1 unit. But it's 27.5hrs of study. How do I know? I'm in the system. |

temmy2008: bosses in the house, how does one convert his or her grades to ECTS? Generally, 1 ECTS=27.5 hours of study work by student. In Nigerian system, 1ECTS=1 credit unit, so a 5 unit course= 5ECTS. |

ooluseyipa: Lool. Have u visit the embassy? If yes, can u share some questions they ask u for us? Thanks The officer asks you for your name, DOB. He then informs you that you are applying for RP because you want to go and study so, so and so at blablabla university. Afterwards, he would hand you a form to fill-in, authorizing ur bank to confirm your SOA to the embassy. Thereafter, he'll hand you a two-page form to complete. This deals with d source of funds, sponsor details... Finally, you are asked if you have any questions... |

saintpope: Yea the embassy returns your passport immediately on same day you are taking your finger prints, I would not say the embassy interviewed me because I wasnt asked any question, I only showed them my documents and credentials, so that isnt an interview. Ok, thanks. For those who have gone through the RP application process, the embassy stamps applicant's passport before returning it. There are three letters A/C D on the stamp (they circled one of the letters), I'll like to know what they circled for you. @iceberg, Olabode. |
