detruth: Someone seems to lack proper home training here! Such a public demonstration depicts how they address their parents at home. What a statement! Moderator!!! where is your whip? Awon omo alaileko gbogbo! Aburo Yabuku! Omo iya Keita! That is another Nigerian problem, being afraid to call out our leaders and our particularly our elders when they act foolish. I didn't create the word foolish, and it is word that is used frequently in the Bible to depict the unwise, so how is it that I lack home training because I said Jonathan acted like a fool? Freedom of speech is fundamental, maybe not to you because you have been brainwashed to think it is lack of home training to use the word "fool." I bet you won't have a problem if I called a younger person a fool. |

what makes you think it would not have been the same Sani lulu jamboree where the girls would have left in the first round had it not been for jonathan's wake-up call? Jonathan practically wanted to withdraw the girls from the tournament couple of days before it started. The team has the same coaching staff pre and post Lulu; nothing has changed, so their success is not attributable to Lulu's exit. And yes, I can call the president a fool if he acts foolish, just like his foolish decision to punish all the soccer teams because of the activities of a few people and one team. |

Congratulations to the girls. But to be fair, our U-20 boys have also advanced to the final of the tournament, so they need to at least reach the final before they prove they can do better. |

Politics › Re: Nigerian Leaders Are Lazy, Says Ribadu ! by Princek12(m): 3:33am On Jul 23, 2010 |
Theblessed: Ambiguous and vague? No, check the link from another thread where it all began it was loud and clear, only the blind and those lacking logical mind and imagination (i.e. in simple terms: 1 +1 = 2) and common sense to fathom out ideas on here would find it difficult to analyse things correctly, and it seems you are in that category.
But who said, I must use your term 'mental laziness' to communicate an idea when I meant some thing different, altogether. I used the word 'laziness' in its literal sense to mean anything e.g. physical, mental etc. Again, your lack of imagination/logical skills obviously, prevented you from noticing the word 'brainlessness' in that thread - a jargon I use to describe our leaders inability to think critically for Nigeria's future. You didn't notice that, did you? No! What you saw was, intimidating and bullying me to use the word you consider appropriate instead, sorio o o o! You came to the wrong door!
Again, try and develop logical skills it will do your confused mind much good beside, this is a forum and not a medium for analysing intelligence - gorit And you just said the same thing I said--that saying laziness by itself is ambiguous, meaning that it could refer to physical, mental, etc. Logical skills means that the word laziness used by itself could mean either physical or mental laziness. So what have I said that is different from what you said? You are an irdiot who cannot reason, and instead of correcting yourself, you are being too proud in your responses, which is making you sound more silly in your answe --you are reasoning in a circular way. |
Politics › Re: Nigerian Leaders Are Lazy, Says Ribadu ! by Princek12(m): 11:35pm On Jul 21, 2010 |
Theblessed: And what's my point? You too are missing the point in my post. Why is that some people on here are quick at critiquing other's work instead of developing their own analytical skills before jumping the pram.
Perhaps, it was an over-sight on your side therefore, I suggest you re-read the post then you would realise, that intelligence is equally 'mental power'. Intellectually bankrupt or lack of intelligence can only suggest one thing - one lacking mental ability to do something. So, where did I go wrong? It is because, I did not use your word - mental laziness? Oh, too bad!
And, may I ask, what's the difference between 'mental laziness and intelligence? And where are both located? In our bottoms or in the brain, mind and memory? The three have to function together to enable the intelligence that feeds our mental ability/power to perform. Please, you guys should get a life here!!!!!!! After all, light minded people understood exactly what I was trying to communicate here except you and the likes therefore, keep critiquing until the cows come home because, only you knows your bug - I don't! There is an appreciable difference between mental laziness and intelligence, for an individual who is highly intelligent may fail to utilize his faculties critically, hence that individual becomes mentally lazy. And yes, the fact that you failed to use the word mental before laziness is a huge difference, at least to me, for Ribadu's rhetoric focused on mental laziness, an issue that receives little or no attention when compared to topics like corruption and yes, laziness. So maybe you are the one who needs to be more clear and direct in articulating your thought so that it leaves no room for ambiguities and vagueness, so you also won't be categorized as being mentally lazy. |

Theblessed: Don't every Nigerian knows this fact? Why wait for Ribadu to say it. I even mentioned it somewhere in one of my posts yesterday and didn't have to wait for Ribadu to tell me about the laziness of our so called leaders , including himself. What does he think he would do differently if he gets there?
All their laziness and idleness have led to all sorts evil popping out in Nigeria today. People developing all sorts of creative negative thinking in order to survive the hardship they imposed on Nigerians. So, do we really need this man to tell us what we already know? And if we do then, we too are emotionally, physically/intellectually bankrupt as them therefore, should stop complaining when the leaders are under performing. You are missing the point! Ribadu's focus is on "mental" laziness rather than physical laziness, which is by far worse. Our leaders do not even want to take the time to think--as in critical thinking, and I think that this behavior is reflective of many Nigerians. |

at least they are making something. Womens football tournaments generally don't generate as much money as the mens, so you can't expect the NFF to pay the girls much. There are also not that many women football leagues. That is life, and this problem is pervasive, for it happens in just about every country, so deal with it. Even women themselves rarely watch womens football, except, maybe, the womens senior World Cup. |

Akainzo: That is the simplistic way of looking at it. Once this project is completed and people are living and paying taxes to Lagos State government, gbam, the problem is now that of the government. Supposing there is a massive thunderstorm that threatens the island, who is going to respond? Who has to deploy resources to save lives and properties? Whose monies would be used for that venture? I am sure none of the above questions can be answered with Chagouri and his group can it?
What has been achieved through the back door is to ensure that government erosion control would be to protect private beaches rather than the public ones, and using public funds at that!
You are quite right. Which is why many a posters have been saying that the postulation that the government of Lagos has nothing to do with this is preposterous. One government gave the go ahead, government gave some guarantees to the bank and when completed the Lagos state government has to provide electricity, security and other government presence. All this cost money and this funds could have been better utilized for the good of all if Orile had been bought over and demolished for this mega estate. Based on your concerns, you would hope that the Lagos State Govt. is implementing an efficient means of taxing future occupants of buildings in Eko Atlantic, proceeds which will hopefully be used in paying for the costs incident to responding to any disaster that strikes the area. |

Gbawe: Please take it easy with praising those who are discredited/lacking in knowledge. You only discredit yourself , by association , with such actions. Your hero claims that Fashola has "forsakened" the mainland to build an "Island Paradise" , never mind that many intelligent mainlanders can debunk his lies easily .
Why not ask him if there is any retail outlet on the Island to rival the new ultra-modern Tejuosho Market . The Palms shopping mall , on the Island, like many on the Lekki/Ajah axis, is entirely upmarket . The Tejuosho new market and many like it on the mainland , on the other hand , is a mix of upmarket shops and affordable shops in demonstration of how , depending on the particular area, Fashola tries his best to carry everyone along in development .
I remember being especially proud of the UTC shopping centre, in Surulere , as a little boy . When it vanished its closure was a symbol of the fall from grace of Surulere because it indicated that , because of the ultra-corrupt nature of our leaders, we did not deserve good things others take for granted worldwide. Today , as we speak, there is an ultra-modern three story shopping mall being built where UTC used to be !!! Next to this new mall you have another shopping complex that has Shoprite (operational) and numerous other stores/banks (to open soon).
I won't waste my time listing the many positives things mainlanders are seeing. I will ask you to ponder on why your hero is peddling falsehood merely for the sake of backing his stance/position. you are a gem. |

Kobojunkie: Oh!! So this was really just about you and western companies . . . you are not denying the fact that most of the projects in Nigeria are financed by institutions that are non-Nigerian then? Ok Yes. Of course, my point all along is that the financiers in NY and UK, and even as far as maybe other European countries, no longer dominate investments in Nigeria, in light of the emergence of Lebanese, Asian and Indian companies, among other non-western companies, many of whom have keen interests in African investments. |

It is all too apparent that most of the projects going on in Nigeria today have financiers from the cities you mentioned, among others. Even the chinese are getting into them big time. Eko Atlantic is not financed by any UK or NY financier(s). Many foreign investors in Nigeria are from China, Russia, Lebanon, India, South Africa. The days of western dominance in African investments are long gone. Go to Nigeria and other African countries to see for yourself, for many Chinese companies are flush with so much cash that they can easily outbid any western company. |

You have shown how dumb you are by making conclusions based on unfounded and unreasonable assumptions. You have probably never been (at least not in the past 15 yrs) to Naija to know the enormity of foreign investments in that country. What makes you think that projects will not develop in Naija unless the financiers in NY or London say Amen to our projects. You claim to know about business globally, but your reasoning shows you nothing about business on a global scale; you probably learned about business from watching Bloomberg TV or MSNBC. But thats the problem with Nigeria in general, no one knows which International Bond Firm is Under-writing these Bonds of this Lagos-Atlantic Project, What is the term of the Bond 10, 20 30 years etc),
AND YOU HAVE DISPLAYED YOUR IGNORANCE WHEN U THINK THAT THE LOSSES WILL NOT BE SOCIALISED !!!
BY SOCIALISED I MEAN THAT IF THE INVESTMENT GOES THE WAY OF SOME OF THE INVESTMENTS IN DUBAI (BAD) THE GOVT HAS TO STEP IN AND GURANTEE THAT THE BOND HOLDERS (THE BOYS IN THE CITY OF LONDON & WALL STREET, NEW YORK) GET PAID!!!
AND PLEASE DO NOT THINK I COME ON THIS FORUM TO SPEW NON-SENSE AS I DO BUSINESS IN INTERNATIONAL FINANCING AND UNDERSTAND HOW THIS DEALS/PROJECTS ARE STRUCTURED, You are making a generalized comment that may be inapplicable to the situation in Lagos. Until you know the way the loans are structured, you are not in a position to make an informed comment about Eko Atlantic. And how do you even know if the Bond Holders are from the City of London or Wall Street and they need to get paid? How do you know if it is not financed by cash without any loans? Have you talked to Chargoury Investment Group, the principals of these investments? Dubai is a different scenario. There was overdevelopment in Dubai, and the risks taken were simply too huge. Here, it is just one project, and you have no clue about the manner in which the loans, if any, were structured. Your I-too-know will definitely kill you one day. ezeagu: You couldn't help yourself. Everybody questioning the floating city are haters from the east, you just couldn't help yourself. No views no opinions, all you came to say was that everybody questioning the idea are haters from the east. What is wrong about the city? Nobody is silly to discount the other problems that affect Lagos, but the existence of problems in other areas should not preclude the advancement of development in other areas, especially when that advancement is funded by private parties. Governor Fashola has shown that he can tackle all these problems concurrently, and any reasonable leader (like Fashola) knows that nothing will get done if you want to wait to solve all of Lagos's problems before embarking on unprecedented projects like this. Only people with village mentality will reject a promising private investment in his state because of other problems in his state. ezeagu: Jealousy of one of the biggest slums on earth which is owned largely by haters from the east? Nobody's business yet people have placed themselves as authority figures to defend the city, just like everybody else, they really don't have a clue of what is going on in? You are darn right, most of the critics are largely from the east, and they rarely have nothing good to say about Lagos. I have not met one easterner who has said something good about Fashola; inasmuch as you try to hide it, the jealousy undertones are evident, and don't think you can fool any of us by saying you are not jealous. Why don't you talk about your village if you are not that jealous. And if Lagos is one of the biggest slums on earth, why don't you mind your business and ignore it. And since we don't have a clue about what is going on, why don't you enlighten us, Mr. lecturer? As for me, I will not question any private developments in Umuahia! |
Travel › Re: Eko Atlantic City. . Construction Update July 2010 by Princek12(m): 4:46pm On Jul 14, 2010 |
Bottom line is that people who are haters--i.e., many people from the east, among others, will always criticize Lagos no matter what we do, probably because their own leaders are busy embezzling money instead of focusing on developing their land, and criticizing Lagos is a good way of deviating attention from their own mismanaged state or village. This jealousy of Lagos is palpable. If Eko Atlantic is privately funded, a private investor's preference to invest resources in Lagos is nobody's business, as long as you are not injured by any developments that emanated from the investment. |
