Army2022: Good morning all. Landing gist. (#Read the story, forget the grammatical mistakes) I applied for SP October 2022 for January resumption, got my PPR end of January 2023 (a week after Deferral to Sept2023 was approved).
Left 9ja this week through Ethiopian airlines. Checked in my luggage (paid for extra) I regretted wearing canvas, got tired of pulling it off at security checks ( if you can wear slippers, please do to save yourself the stress).
Yea...I was so surprised as my back bag was not even weighed, I wish I had added more things to it (hiss).
The journey was so smooth, but it was the Longest journey of my life, I even cried sef. We left Los at past 1pm, got to Addis Ababa 9pm and immediately checked in to another flight and continued our journey. At 5am we stopped at Dublin to refuel(it seems this took UpTo an hour, I'm not sure), but nobody left the plane. 😁 Through the window I saw plenty cows feeding near their airport.
After flying for about what looked like forever...I don't know if it was because of the long journey or because I began to miss my parents, but shaar uncontrollable tears began to drop.
😁They used food and drinks to finish us in that journey! I slept throughout, I only wake up to eat. The routine was, sleep, wake-up,go back to sleep, wake-up to more food and drinks 😄.
Finally we landed in Toronto, very beautiful airport. I asked questions and proceeded to get Study permit . Hmmm So many students, of which 98% were Indians. Ehen, they didn't even ask us any question. Our LOI was collected, few minutes later they gave me a paper. I asked the officer what next, he said that's your sp, you can go. Wow, just like that? I was supprised!
Then I proceeded to locate my luggage, checked into my next flight to Alberta(to be with fam before sch resumes). Mehn...4hrs flight again? Same country ooo! I became sick, nearly threw up, feverish etc. I became 95% healed at the sight of my nephews and nieces running to hug auntie at the airport. Canada is very big abeg.
Weather experience. *First of all As I'm typing this, one of my nose is blocked😄. *8pm sun still shines! Wow 9pm be like 9ja's 5pm This is so amazing!!
*The breeze is so cold like ice. And it's windy, this is the only thing I dislike.(because it makes me dress as if it's winter😄, which leaves me wondering how scary winter is going to be) I don't know if I should still go ahead and change my dli from Ontario to Alberta, mehn this their weather scares the hell out of me.
*All their restaurants I've been to reads "wait to be seated" nawaoo. *Neat rides, big cars, beautiful cars. The city I'm in and it's environ is amazing 😍 *Everybody I've come across is polite and friendly.
* This country is very big, it will contain all of us.
Good luck to all the PPR hopeful. To those who got rejected, get your gcms note, correct your errors,do the right thing, reapply and get your PPR asap. No time, because Canada needs us.
To all the Guru's here, please help I have my new passport, I want to apply for visa extension as my old passport will expire soon. Is 15kcad pof enough to show for visa extension? 2yrs course, but I've paid for 1st semester which will start by Sept. Thank you nairaland😍 God bless you. May the land favor you! Please those that just travelled, we need more updates like this. |

yemiezay: What do you mean by rate limiting step? Omo the thing is just giving me headaches something I already passed just for me to pay and it’s taking me back that’s error. I did 2012-2013, 2014-2015 and so on still I can’t move to the next page
How were you able to do yours ? I used that statement to mean how fast you are able to complete your application. I spent about 2 days on that stage lol... I just keep changing the dates and making sure that no date is left out and no overlap between education and work history and it eventually went through. e.g Jan 2013 to Feb 2014; March 2014 to August 2018; September 2018 to Nov 2021; Dec 2021 to present..... Making sure that no overlap between/within education and/or work dates. Good luck! |

yemiezay: House!!!! Please I need your help, I am trying to use the new portal. I already filled in all my application but left it for some weeks. By the time I came back to the portal I can’t seem to move on to submit and continue. Now I am stuck in the “work history” page
It asked me to provide work experience form 10years ago. I did that but I can’t move to the next page.
What can I do please? That stage is the rate limiting step on new portal. Make sure you fill your education and work history in such a way that there is no gap or overlap in the dates of both education and work history. |

SweetJJ: Why do you call it madness? Policy is policy. If you are traveling with a Visitor visa you must buy a return ticket. If some people got away with one way ticket doesn't mean it's madness on the part of the airline. If you are travelling with Student visa you are not required to have a return ticket. The madness I'm referring to is the fact that EgyptAir is the only airline that is currently forcing holders of study permit to buy two-way ticket. That has been discussed in study visa thread. |

Ennamdee: Glory be to God.
PRR Alert!!
1 SOWP (Spouse Open Work Permit) & 1 VV (Visitor Visa)
Timeline for SOWP:
Application Date: October 12, 2022 Medical Examination: Performed upfront Passport Request (PPR): June 6, 2023 Passport Submission: June 7, 2023 Passport Received: June 15, 2023
Timeline for VV (For Child, Less than 4 Years Old):
Application Date: October 12, 2022 Medical Request: June 6, 2023 Receipt of Spouse's Authorization Letter & Passport Data Page: June 6, 2023 Passport Request (PPR): June 29, 2023 Passport Submission: June 30, 2023 Passport Received: July 18, 2023
On January 4th, we updated the medical information using a webform and started the waiting period. Despite numerous emails sent to the designated IRCC email addresses and several webforms filled out, we received no response.
My spouse reached out to her MP's office to express our concerns and was informed that we would need to wait due to an overwhelming number of applications. She later visited another MP's office who offered reassurances and explained that one major factor affecting SOWP delays is the city to which the applicant is going. The demand for the applicant's NOC can determine the speed of the response. This MP promised to make inquiries with the IRCC if we didn't receive any feedback within two weeks.
Indeed, the SOWP PPR arrived within the specified two weeks, though not for my son's VV. Instead, my son received a medical request and an authorization letter, and the passport data page from my spouse. It's worth noting that an authorization letter had already been submitted with the initial application, but for some unknown reason(s), it was requested, again.
Travel Experience: Our experience at MM2 was typical. We flew via Lufthansa Airlines and had another document check-in Frankfurt. Upon arrival at the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), I filled out the declaration form. The officer asked if I was carrying food items such as fish, meat, or yam and whether I was carrying more than CAD 10k. My answer to both inquiries was a definitive "No."
The encounter with the immigration officer was quick and smooth. The officer only asked why I was in Canada and requested my Letter of Introduction. Please note that no questions were asked about my son. Another Nigerian who stood before me was asked by another immigration officer to show his marriage certificate and children's birth certificate.
Documents submitted for my SOWP
LOE Pay slips for 6 months Employment letter (partnership offer) & ID card Land documents & property evaluation Family pictures Letter of invitation from my spouse Statement of account from my pension manager worth N4.2m My Bank Statement showing a closing balance of USD $34k & N6m Spouse’s student visa & study permit Wedding certificate Police report Birth Certificate Letter of explanation for transactions above N1m Company CAC Spouse lease agreement Spouse Social Insurance Number Spouse tuition receipt, transcript & enrolment letter
Documents submitted for my son
LOE Authorization letter from spouse Birth certificate Letter of invitation from my spouse School results and pictures with other kids Affidavit of support from my father that I submitted in my study permit application. My study visa and letter of acceptance Thank you all for your contributions, and my special appreciation goes to @okukuone, you're far too generous with information. And to those waiting, you're next to testify. Congratulations... |
