I'm not a politician but I strongly believe that ACN is not a credible alternative to PDP. |
There are at least 8 of such open manholes on Ikorodu road between Idiroko bus stop and Fadeyi bus stop. |
The Igbo people, like all Igbo friends of mine, should realize they are being used as political pawns by the 2011 contenders. If the presidency goes to the North in 2011, nothing stops it from going back to the South-South. Remember, the much talked about zoning is a North-South thing not necessarily a struggle by geo-political zones. |

Professor Andrew EvwarayeProfile After receiving his Ph.D., Dr. Evwaraye taught physics at Morgan State University (1969-1970) and at Antioch College (1970-1973). He then joined General Electric Corporate Research and Development Center in Schenectady, NY (1973-1979). At General Electric, he studied defects in Silicon (Si), Germanium (Ge) and in Gallium Phosphide (GaP). He worked closely with Dr. R. N. Hall. In 1979, Dr. Evwaraye returned to Nigeria as a professor of physics and the foundation dean of the School of Physical Sciences of the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He and his colleagues developed the academic programs and recruited the faculty for the new university. The University now has a student population of over fifteen thousand. When Dr. Evwaraye was on sabbatical leave from the University of Port Harcourt (1986-1987) he joined the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) as a visiting research physicist. Upon his return to the University of Port Harcourt, he was appointed the deputy vice chancellor of the University. Dr. Evwaraye is a fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Science (FAS). After four years of being a deputy vice chancellor, he came to the physics department of the University of Dayton as a visiting professor (1991-1993). He continued his collaboration with UDRI researchers in condensed matter physics. In 1994-1995 he was a senior National Research Council (NRC) fellow at Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB). In this period, Dr. Evwaraye studied defects in wide-bandgap semiconductors (SiC and GaN) utilizing characterization tools. In 1995, Dr. Evwaraye joined the physics department at full rank. His collaboration with UDRI and Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) scientists continues. It has been a fruitful collaboration. Professor Evwaraye is the author or coauthor of over sixty journal publications and two text books. His teaching ranges from introductory freshman to upper level physics courses. He is active on College and University committees. He is the campus coordinator of STARS--Ohio Board of Regents program for undergraduate research. |

Jonathan's Camp! Where/ Who is Jonathan's camp? Alhaji Dalhatu Tafida is the Director of Jonathan's campaign organisation. So I assume he is in "Jonathan's camp". Can he accuse the Notherners of being behind the bomb blast? No sane politician aspiring for a national position would accuse any section of the country of being behind any dastardly act knowing fully well that he/she needs the vote of every Nigerian. @Poster, Verify your facts before opening this kind of thread. |

ikay88:The coming elections can only be credible if our political parties allow it. PDP is not the only rigging party in Nigeria. PDP is simply "out-rogging" the others in most states. However, on the national stage, PDP remains the most organised. Can anyone confidently tell me that UMYA wouldn't have won the 2007 elections if it was free and fair? |
"Amala-sharing" is an age-old method of electioneering campaign but I doubt that Baba Saraki will have his way this time around. @oyb, Why are you home? |
Kobojunkie:Rather I think the problem we have is the so-called opposition parties who cannot reach beyond their respective geo-political; parties who cannot provide a viable and credible alternative to the monster called PDP. The so-called ACN of today sold out to PDP in 2003 because of tribal come regional sentiments. Right now there is no party in Nigeria that can oust the PDP on the National stage. MHO |
I sincerely hope we won't be seeing another flower-planting governor. Beautification now equates to development in modern Nigerian politics. |
LAGOS, Sept 8 (Reuters) - The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) said on Wednesday it had suspended the shares of 15 companies and frozen price movements on 28 others for failing to submit financial reports on time. The 15 mostly small cap firms include Union Dicon Salt Plc (UNIONDI.LG: Quote), Golden Guinea Breweries (GOLDBRE.LG: Quote) and publisher Daily Times (DTIMES.LG: Quote). The NSE said it would begin delisting the firms if they failed to submit audited accounts for 2008 by Oct. 11. "The affected companies have defaulted in post-listing requirements, especially in financial reporting of their operations and payment of annual listing fees," the NSE said in a statement. It said 28 firms including fuel retailers African Petroleum (AP.LG: Quote) and Conoil (CONOIL.LG: Quote) and food company Dangote Flour (DANGFLO.LG: Quote) had been placed on technical suspension for failure to submit their 2009 financial reports. The move means trading in their shares can continue but there will be no reported share price movements. Nigeria is sub-Saharan Africa's second-biggest stock market but disclosure standards lag those of smaller rivals such as Kenya. The country is on a drive to improve regulation and transparency in its capital markets. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in August removed the NSE director general amid governance concerns and appointed a former top Deloitte accountant as interim manager. Accountancy firm KPMG has since been appointed to audit the bourse books. http://af.reuters.com/article/nigeriaNews/idAFLDE68716G20100908 |
@dapssee, At what time of the year is the maintenance fee charged? Why did GTBank issue me with the magnetic stripe dollar mastercard in November 2009 when they knew they had plans of switching to the 'chip and pin' card less than a year later? The expiring date on my old card is sometime in 2012 or 2013 so any change in technology midway should be optional OR the cost should be borne by the party making the change. Again, the cost of a card should not be deducted from any account until the customer has the card in his/her possession. |
I got an sms from the same GTBank about two months ago stating that my 'chip and pin' Mastercard was ready for collection. Some days later I got two different sms notifying me that $20 and $30 have been removed from my account for maintenance of the said 'chip and pin' mastercard. I went to my branch only to be told that $20 was for the card while $30 was an annual fee. I was unhappy because I only got my magnetic stripe dollar mastercard November last year. My questions for GTBank. Why should customers be forced to pay for the bank's technology upgrade? Why did they issue the magnetic stripe card when they knew it would no longer be valid eight months later? Why would anyone deduct money from my account without my consent? Must an account holder own an ATM card? Why do I get the feeling that their customer service personnel know little or nothing about 'customer service' other than how to say 'welcome' and smile? |

English is not our first Language but I think public figures should go the extra mile to learn the act of public speaking. Mrs Jonathan should employ a private tutor. BTW, Over 70% of the posts in this thread contains one error or another. |
@ Jarus, You are ONE of the moderators in this section. What are your plans for an effective mod-mod collabo. Coming up with these fantastic ideas gives the impression that Aisha2 and other prior mods were ineffective and/or not creative. Were these the ideas that got you the job? Please read this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_political_families http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bush_family There is nothing wrong in having a political family as long as the descendants have the requisite skills and are willing to gain the necessary political experience. Moreso, some professionals believe leadership is hereditary. |
The multinational IOCs are just employing distraction tactics to make us forget the PIB. President Jonathan and the national assembly should please make the PIB law. That will reduce neo-colonialism in Nigeria. |
Uduaghan may not be the best governor in Nigeria, but I believe Edwin Clarke is calling for his head simply because he is Ibori's cousin. @PapaBrowne, Uduaghan's ONLY original near-achievement is the yet to be completed Asaba Airport. Stop counting the intra-city roads and Teaching hospitals as his achievements. I was in Delta State before the 2007 elections and I can remember the state broadcasting commission showing import-containers carrying the hospital equipments to be installed before handover. Ibori imported all the hospital equipments before he handed over in 2007 |

@Seun, Freedom to express opinions is a fundamental human right but I can't believe you of all people will be the first to write off the Nigerian ladies. Why did you start Nairaland if you don't believe in the Nigerian spirit? Against all odds, the girls have made us proud. keep it up FALCONETS. |
