janettee: It's not like in Nigeria and yes it has everything to do with PhD. In Germany you have Technical Universities(TU9 for example), normal Universities and then Universities of Applied Science.
If you are not interested in PhD, then simply go to a University of Applied Science. Universities in Germany are meant to educate future researchers, University of Applied Science aren't set up like that cause it's more practical than research based hence why it's hard to be accepted into a PhD program after going to a University of Applied Science.
A degree in a University would take you 3 years, whereas in a University of Applied Science, it's 4 years.
Also, if you did your BSc in a german University of Applied Science and want to do your masters in a normal University, you will see that in most cases you will be required to write an aptitude test or you will be rejected because you didn't do the required courses in your Bsc.
If you attend a Studienkolleg in a University of Applied Science, you are only required to apply to Universities of Applied Science afterwards.
University graduates are also paid more, although the difference isn't that much.
There's a whole lot of difference, if you research deeper. It really depends on what you want to study because in IT for example, most people would want to work after their masters so it doesn't really matter.
https://www.studycheck.de/ratgeber-studium/uni-vs-fh The bolded is false, for university of applied sciences. I don't know any university, applied or technical that the standard semester for bachelors is 8 semesters. Normally, the standard is 6 or 7, depending if the course requires mandatory 1 semester of internship in the industry. |

janettee: If you want to do PhD, go to a University otherwise go to a University of Applied Sciences.
If you are in IT, it doesn't really matter tbh but in other courses some companies prefer university graduates over those who attended University of Applied Science.
It depends on what you want to do in the future after studying.
https://www.academics.de/ratgeber/promovieren-fh-fachhochschule
You can use Google translate to read the article but if you really want to do PhD, I will advise you not to go to a University of Applied Science. The fact is University of Applied Sciences prepare you to be job ready. It's curriculum is tailored towards a real practical world, unlike the the normal universities that is tailored towards research work, that is, more into the academia. It is evident that that the school of applied sciences requires their professors to have at least 1 year working experience in the real world(not in academia). And there's always a mandatory internship that university of applied sciences had to go through, usually 6 months. And also, their thesis(bachelors or masters) is usually required to be done in the industry, not just university research. Now, a new law has been passed that allows university of applied sciences to offer PhD programs. I would say, if your reason to pursue a PhD is to be a professor or stay in the academic line, university is your choice, but if your career line is to be in the industry, the University of applied sciences could be a choice. |

Rawhumper: [
I dont understand why guys really rape, like u said i dont think it was rape,d coerced her maybe with intimidations that made her to accept.
I could remember when some cult guys were raping two girls in the house,i didnt participate and couldnt stop them cos they were more than 12 guys but i succeeded in talking my own guy out of it and we had to leave that place.
At one point a guy brought a girl that was pregnant and ran away from home,he wanted to sleep with i intervened,he almost fought me and wanted to beat the girl when d girl was defiant,he told the girl i may noy save her but i still stopped him cos it was my house.
I had to give her food and some money, she left.
I have been in the position to rape girls, some that lost their ways at night, came to me for accomodation for the night, others who got drunk and crashed in my room when i was in University,God is my witness i never slept with them at their vulnerable moments though i later slept with them days later as a thank you.
Rape is for the weak, low esteemed guy.... I write this for guys to have a rethink against forceful rape. What do you achieve after the whole struggle and murder?
My advice to you that cant get a lady easily, start been neat, wash your body, clothes and scrap the hairs under ur armpits. Apply rollon, perfume if u can afford one.
Take fruits, plenty of water and be conscious of yourself dont look down on yourself.
Have in mind, women love sex more than men but they have the ability to control their urge and also chooses their partners, thats why it seems they are difficult because if u not their taste,no show but if u are,u dont need to talk much.
Tell them what u want and know how and when to say it to them matters,if they reject u,take heart and look for another.
There are plenty fishes in the ocean they say.
quote author=pseudonomer post=92465812]I don’t think any sane human will rape a girl inside a bus in the public. I can only assume the girl is underage, but I don’t think it’s rape. My statement never implied “supporting rape”. My statement is logical enough to follow. 1. A 25yrs old man having a consented sex with a 15years old is not a rape, but it is still a crime or sexual assault for an adult to have sex with a minor. 2. Does having sex in a public place makes it a rape? NO 3. I find it absurd for a man to attempt rape in a public place in a broad daylight. In Nigeria, when such things happen, the first conclusion is rape... without trying to know if it’s consented or not. Any sex with an underage is rape in Nigeria, but it’s actually two different crimes. 4. Without thorough investigation, you shouldn’t conclude it’s rape. I don’t even know if the girl is underage or not. I am only saying I find it very illogical to rape people in a public place. |

ogagaejay: I have nothing to do today. And I like a constructive and educated debate. That is not to say I see the relevance
Let's take it from the top Yes I studied in German. .it is easy to find out just trace the trend 5- 6 years backward. I'm still using the name.
Structure of course in Germany. Every course in Germany is structured. The debate is the relevance to the german job market. If you can give a proof of how juicy the so-called mechatronics is in the job market , then you would have been helping us all. Than explaining a course content.
I am not looking for the best course to study, and I am sure you have convince our friend that he would get a job after the mechanotronic master. So I would wish you and who ever are in the field of mechanotronic a fruitful job search in the automobile industry that you have mentioned Adieu mon Amin Yes, he would get a job after graduation if he's good. Germany is a country leading in Auto industry. There are so many companies that manufacture car parts. Mechatronics is exactly what is needed... He can works as an embedded engineer, software engineer(in relations to automotive), mechanical engineer and Electronic Engineer. And moreover Mechatronics is STEM course. Companies don't usually ask for a field when posting for job ads, they only mention related fields most especially in Germany. They list the skills needed, and if he studied Mechatronics and works a bit on his skills, he can work in any of the hundreds of Automotive industries like Hella, Porsche, Mercedes, Bosch...and so on. It's like saying Electronic Engineers, Civil Engineers, Software Engineers are not employable in Germany. Most of the guys that studied Mechatronics in my school even as B.eng already got student jobs from the 4th semesters. |

ogagaejay: My post is meant to be an advise to you. I am not looking for a German Visa. You can either listen or ignore me. Whatever you do, we are waiting for you in Germany. I would like to read your experience later
I never said in my post that any of these fields are not employable in Germany. They are all employable as separate disciplines In my company , I do not know any technician that is a mechanic and an electrician then a computer scientist. An electrician and electronics are ever different as close as they may seem. These fields require 3-4 years training to be employable in Germany. To combine it in a 2years master , makes the master laughable.
We call it facharbeit in Germany. There is no Jack of all trade in germany . The university can combine what ever the professor likes. But in the real world. The training is left to the professor to make use of. Companies would send you back to your professor to employ you. Companies are not looking for a mechanoelectrocomputoelectronics. I know a friend who studies geo biology. Combination mostly makes you unemployable in Germany. In this case, he is bearly a geologist and definitely not a biologist. He is nothing to the employer
Dont forget that Germany is not Nigeria that calls everyone graduate because they attended a course in the university. Even the germans, if they study something then later realise that it is useless, they work in restaurant or as helper in factories , thereafter go back to study what is employable. They dont consider themselves graduate but would be rather angry with the university for teaching a useless course.
AND YOU WONDER WHY HE GOT ADMISSION SO EASILY, MAYBE THERE AINT STUDENTS IN GERMANY You don’t know what you’re saying. And I’m sure you never attended any university in Germany. Mechatronics is a well structured course. Previously, automobiles are 80% mechanical and 20% Electronics but now the reverse is the case. The Mechanical Engineers are worthless in the modern automobile industry, which leads to the course Mechatronics. Mechatronics combines both mechanical and Electronics... and You can cannot study Electronics without knowing how to program hardwares using C/C++ or similar which leads to the Computer Science part of the Mechatronics. In Mechatronics( You learn 3D-Design for Prototypes, Mechanics, Electronics and Embedded Systems principles and more). You become an electrician, or technician by doing Ausbildung, maybe that’s what you meant by training for 4 years. This is no way a university degree, don’t try to compare it or it’s structure to a University. If you have Bachelor/Master Degree, you’re an Engineer not a technician. It’s 2 big different thing. |

Then they control the disease in their own countries, Africa struggles to control it too, but fails. Before long, the disease naturalizes in Africa and assumes an African identity. And then the west begin their subtle discrimination of Africa, while throwing handouts and intervention funds at us every now and then. It's happened several times before, that's how all these so called "tropical diseases" came about. Nigeria != Africa. The US, and even Brazil is on the list... that’s not Africa. Because Nigerian CS degree is BS!
I’ve never met any CS graduate from US/EU/Aussie or any developed country that doesn’t know how to code... because you’ll be involved in several projects throughout your university time to validate your skills.
University only try to let you learn the basic concepts of coding/software development, and I think this is valid and fair enough because you have a lot of other stuffs to learn. With that, you’re expected that with ease, you’ll pick up any technology necessary to get any particular job done. |

wip7: Partly Yes and NO.
First to benefit financially your address must carry Turkey/North Cyprus. Only researchers with an affiliation (Turkey/NC) on the published research paper can be paid by the Turkish Government.
Second: For the research, I have co-researchers in various countries, I have also benefited from RSC funding which pays for a research visit to the UK universities, also, I have ex-students still on the project working in another country (my recent PhD student from EMU/NC works in a University in Ontario and we still work together) and currently co-supervising students in Universities in Canada, USA and Germany.
The main thing is the researcher must have access to the lab, equipment or field/sites to carry out the research and also depends on the type of research. For example, we have research in battery development, if you are working in this research you must have all raw materials to fabricate the electrodes and also have the equipment to carry out the electrochemical testings.
Another way, we have a researcher working on Machine learning to design model to predict disease and favourable conditions for Greenhouse farming. She is based in Kenya and we only supply her the sensors for data collecting and trained her virtually how to do; the data collection fields are in Kenya and Tanzania so she needs to collect data there and its sync to our cloud then we evaluate and design model. The researcher got funding (travelling and others) from the company she works for, we are just consulted.
What field are you into? Electronic Engineering(Embedded Systems and Autonomous Systems) but intend to focus on Autonomous Systems. I’m in Germany. |

wip7: Admission is Ongoing at EMU
Interested in Studying at Eastern Mediterranean University? due to the pandemic, the initial payment has been slashed to 500$ and also we have just concluded rectorship election at EMU. The university will be opening new departments/programs in Artificial intelligence Engineering, Water Process Engineering, Smart and Advanced Agricultural Sci/eng etc.
If you are interested to study and carry out research in Sensor development for rapid detection of virus/bacteria, Energy storage devices like battery development and supercapacitor, Solar energy conversion, Pollution monitoring with AI-enabled devices, air and water pollution control, material synthesis for biomedical applications, Machine learning for various applications (health, waste prediction, econs etc).........kindly contact me ( I am a professor at EMU working in these research areas).
Benefits of Developing Academic and Industrial Demand Research Skills:
Learning and developing research skills is something that is lost in many educational systems. In fact, the majority of the students are only interested in getting the best grades and do much cramming at times to achieve this without actually developing unique or demanding skills. Hence, turn out to have an unattractive CV or non-competitive profile. After graduation, moving from one country to work elsewhere or even starting a job in the same country will require sound, currently/emerging skills well-spelt in the applicant CV/resume.
So after spending 40,000 British pounds to get 2nd class honour degree in Electrical Engineering or in Business administration.....so do you have some demanding skills, needed experience in your CV/resume or you have the same regular CV like others and just emphasizing on the fact that you graduated with CGPA of 4.999.
Employers (either business organization, industries or academics) love research skills. Research is an important part of a business because it helps an organization keep up with changing technologies, develop new products, get better at what they do, keep an eye on its competitors etc. Irrespective of the country, university or language you studied, a competitive profile is largely favoured and in-demand these days
----With sound research skills, you may be developing your own product which investor can put money, you be solving challenges that craft income also for you and many other benefits.
How can you demonstrate your research skills or the unique experience?
In many cases, your CV is your chance to make a first, strong and competitive impression. Your CV will help employers check you’ve got the right skills and experience. If they can see you’ve got them, it’s likely you’ll get to the next stage.
As a student, you can demonstrate either of these or combination via:
--Your research publication in a reputable journal (very important because its peer-reviewed) --Your dissertation/project/thesis (if published and easily accessible) --Personal and accessible webpages linking to your profile showing the skills.
Is it enough to claim you have python, C# or Machine learning Skills in your CV?
Various students/persons fill skills they don't have in their CV or skills they have just less than 2% knowledge of. Therefore, if you are claiming to have machine learning or AI (artificial intelligence skills), market/economics forecasting skills, or sound with device development or software development or as strong crisis mitigator............you have to point to the actual project you have completed with these skills rather than just filling " I have significant knowledge of Machine learning" ..............Rather, you have to point to the verifiable projects you have done with such skills.
Is research just for a graduate student?
No. research is for all categories of students be it undergraduate, graduate-level or post-graduate students.
Are there benefits to research at EMU?
Apart from the above listed;
--EMU pays as much as nearly 1000$ per the research paper you published in a reputable journal (accessible by all level of students)
---Turkish government pay as much as 2200$ per the same paper.
----Meaning that researcher may get as much as EMU+ Turkish government payment per research paper.
----With good research skills, you stand a great chance to get further funding from the government and other funders.
---You stand a chance to pitch your products to the world via the Teknorpaks and start-ups events.
Are there limits? no limits irrespective of the department and it's payable as soon as they verified the paper in the WEB OF SCIENCE platform.
WIP7: I have published over 50 research articles, have benefited from the Turkish government 1 million Turkish Lira (nearly 56 million naira) TUBITAK funding, Green brain project funding, have two lab ready-products (glucose sensors under evaluation for markets). Supervised 10 PhD students currently and numbers of masters and undergraduate students.
