THE residents of the Agbede community in Ikorodu have lauded the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the clearing and dredging of the canal in the area which links about seven communities. The canal has been a source of worry to the residents whenever it rains and due to overflooding which wreaks havoc on the buildings and businesses within the area. The Chairman of the Dredging Committee, Mr. Adebowale Awobajo, said: “ This is a good start from the governor and as you can see, our people are happy for the clearing and dredging of this canal because at every raining season, it is always a nightmare for us because many houses will be affected as business will be paralysed. “With this development, there would be a sigh of relief. We are urging the government to make this a yearly exercise or find a lasting solution to it.” A resident of the community, Mrs. Adedoyin Albert, appealed to the people of the communities not to dump refuse in the canal after the clearing and dredging exercise. Mr Adeyemi Adekunle commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for the great job and urged him to remember the people of Agbede and Oke Nla in his governance as they have been neglected for so long by successive governments, especially the immediate past, stressing that developmental policies have eluded them for so long. “I want to applaud the governor for remembering us in Agbede and its environs for dredging our canal and bringing succour to us. We have been ignored by past regimes,”he said. A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Tijani Suraj, who is a member of the ad hoc committee on environment, said: “The clearing and dredging will be a total relief to the community as soon as it is completed, but the people must help themselves by ensuring refuse and other things that can cause a blockage to the free flow of water are not dump in the canal henceforth.” The honourable member representing Ojo praised the contractor handling the project for a job well done and equally appealed to him to double efforts. https://thenationonlineng.net/sanitation-lagos-community-lauds-sanwo-olu/ Cc Lalasticlala Mynd44 |

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Friday said about 10,000 to 15,000 primary and secondary schools teachers would be employed by the state government to ensure adequate and efficient learning and teaching in schools. Sanwo-Olu said this had become important to ensure that Lagos pupils had the best of education and provide the state with the right human resources in the future. The Governor revealed this, while giving account of his 100 days in office. Sanwo-Olu detailed projects and programmes executed since he was sworn-in as governor, maintaining that he was committed and unshaken about the promises he made during the electioneering process. He said said among other things, 50 locations in Lagos now enjoyed free-wifi while the partnership that gave birth to LAKE Rice would continue. Sanwo-Olu added that over 20 million units of waste bags had been produced for distribution so that residents could bag and sort their waste appropriately. He promised that 40 million units of waste bags would be produced in the coming weeks, adding that his administration was not about excuses but finding solutions to problems and challenges confronting residents and the state. The governor assured that the Oshodi-Abule-Egba BRT lane would be completed before the end of the year while the school feeding programme meant for primary school pupils would kick off soon. On erratic power supply, Sanwo-Olu said about 20,000 pre-paid meters would be procured while discussions were on with DISCOS and a power firm on how to increase power supply through embedded power. Sanwo-Olu said that his government would be leveraging on private sector partnership and funding to execute programme and projects, stating that partnership with the private sector was critical as it controlled about 80 per cent of Lagos Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The governor further said to increase fund to execute programmes and projects, the state hoped to bring in about 2 million non-tax paying residents into the tax net, saying that to increase the state’ Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), there would be no increase in tax rate paid by residents and businesses. https://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2019/09/06/100-days-in-office-sanwo-olu-to-employ-15000-school-teachers/ |

Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday launched N4 billion ‘LSETF W-INITIATIVE’ to provide funding for women entrepreneurs in the State to achieve their growth objectives and create jobs for the youths. The LSETF W-INITIATIVE, is a special intervention fund contributed between the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund and Access bank Plc, to provide access to affordable finance for female-owned businesses in Lagos State. The scheme, which targets between 5,000 and 10,000 women, was launched by Governor Sanwo-Olu at LTV Blue Roof as part of activities marking his 100 days in office. The event was attended by various women groups and entrepreneurs led by the president (Iyaloja-General) of Market Women Association, Chief Folashade Tinubu-Ojo. The Governor said the initiative was a measure to drive up financial inclusion among women and create financial access for SMEs in state, emphasising that it will also provide support to businesses to stimulate growth and consequently create employment for the teeming young population in the State. The Governor further expressed the commitment of his administration to tackle unemployment in Lagos, adding that creating opportunities for small businesses and ensuring that women are also in alignment with the THEMES objectives of the administration. He said: “There is no argument that climes, where young people and women are at the centre of economic planning, have emerged prosperous, progressive and remain the model of development. In Lagos State, the Government’s strategy is to optimise and sustainably grow our local economy, projected to be the fifth-largest economy in Africa, by creating access to funds for our women entrepreneurs. We are confident that it is an intervention that would create wealth for small businesses and consequently put our young and productive youth to work.” In his remarks, the CEO and Group Managing Director of Access Bank Plc, Herbert Wigwe said, “Access Bank is fully committed to bridging the existing gap and provide women with the support they need to successfully implement their business ideas.” “Looking at the number of women present here today, I don’t think the initial N4 billion we set aside to help women will be sufficient and based on that, the initiative fund will be increased to N10billion. Through partnerships with organisations such as LSETF, Access Bank will continue to help women break boundaries, reinvent the status-quo and take advantage of opportunities provided by technology and quality financial systems to make significant impact on the economy of Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole,” Wigwe added. Wigwe said Access Bank has a long history of supporting female empowerment, offering over 8,000 personal loans valued at over N10.6 billion since 2018, with over 330 loans given to women in business valued at over N16.6 billion. Also commenting, the LSETF Board of Trustees Chairman, Mrs Ifueko Omoigui-Okauru, said “The LSETF W Initiative aligns with the Fund’s strategic efforts to actualise the commitment of the State Government of ensuring that at least 50% of the beneficiaries of LSETF programmes are women.” The BoT Chairman revealed that the Fund is incrementally achieving this objective through its three core programmes. Women represent a total of 5,263 or 50% of the total number of loan beneficiaries and account for 43.54% of the Fund’s total loan portfolio with (approximately N3.07billion) so far. Also, over 74% of the beneficiaries in our Micro-Enterprise Start-Up Programme are women. Furthermore, 49% of the total 4,909 people trained through our Employability Programme are women. “That is not all. We have supported 16 female-led start-ups with workspace vouchers as part of the Fund’s Lagos Innovates programme which seeks to make Lagos State the tech-hub of Africa”, she added. In addition to the unveiling of the LSETF W Initiative at the event, 600 beneficiaries of the LSETF’s flagship Loan Programme were presented with cheques in a symbolic ceremony led by the Lagos State Governor. The new beneficiaries join 10,753 other entrepreneurs who have successfully been credited with N7.5 billion in the last 4 years. www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2019/09/04/sanwo-olu-launches-n4bn-lsetf-w-initiative/amp/

The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Wednesday inaugurated the electronic registration of non-Nigerians residents in the state. He described the exercise by the Nigeria Immigration Service as a key step to ensure national security and socio- economic development. The programme, which has taken off in eight states, would see the NIS officials documenting all-Nigeriens living in the country as part of the larger efforts to keep accurate data and curb crimes in the age of transnational terrorism and other security threats. AbdulRazaq, who said the initiative offered an opportunity for effective national security and socio-economic planning, congratulated the NIS for the foresight. He said, “This is another milestone in our collective efforts to secure our country in this age of transnational terrorism and other crimes that threaten our national security. “I also see it as an opportunity to properly document people who live within our borders for effective planning, development and mutually beneficial collaborations. “The programme is to ensure proper registration of migrants in the country and targeted at generating a robust personal profile and electronic biometric database of all foreigners that intend to stay in Nigeria beyond the period of 90 days. “I therefore call on all migrants in Kwara State to key into this programme by immediately submitting themselves at the Nigeria Immigration Service office in Ilorin, the state capital, and all designated centres for proper documentation and registration,” the governor said. He pledged government’s support for the exercise and urged the officers doing the capturing to ensure that it was done professionally and in the overall interest of the country. The Comptroller of the NIS in the state, Edith Onyemenam, said the registration was to capture every migrant above 18 years staying beyond 90 days in Nigeria. https://punchng.com/abdulrazaq-says-immigrants-e-registrationll-boost-security/ Cc Lalasticlala Mynd44 |

. Instead of the South to get power in 2023 via A Westerner then let it be in the North for another 8 years it's the reality on ground .If you think the East will vote A Westerner think again they will rather vote Buhari himself and of course I don't need to tell you were the Northern vote will go if Pdp fields a Northerner. Once Apc fields a Westerner automatically Pdp will field a Northerner
In a democracy, is it the people that should go to a political party or is the party that ought to work hard to win the support of the people
