Congratulations to all who have received approval of visas, reading your success stories gives me great hope. I believe I will also share my testimony soonest.

Dear Seniors n Gurus,
I need your advice, I intend to sell off 2 of my investments a land n car to have liquid cash in my account as most of my money is tied on investments e.g land, Mutual fund, rsa etc.

My questions
1. Can I pay the lump sum into my account and use to buy treasury bill or fixed deposit to show it's intended for my tuition
2. Can my spouses savings be included as part of source of my finances
3. Can I open a dorm account and pay the money into a dollar account.
4. Can I submit investments that are in my spouses name during my application? As all our investments are in my spouses name except for cars

Pls i need n appreciate your advice.

Thanks in anticipation
You seem to have good hometies. But I must warn lumpsum deposits is a huge redflag and I will advice you not to dump money in your account especially if it doesn't tally with previous bank transactions. Your wives assets can be used as hometies that way the VO understands in your temporary absence your family will cope well. You also don't need to open any dom account or whatsoever pay your tuition for a semester together with other documents and you are fine. Also find a way around the deposit.

Hello Guys,

I noticed when I choose Yes as an answer to the question (Have you visited or lived in any one of the designated countries for 6 consecutive months in the last year??), Medical section was displayed as part of the section that am supposed to fill. Am I to leave the medical space empty? I don't plan to do upfront.

Guys, Am I suppose to answer Yes or No? I selected Yes because Nigeria is in the list of designated countries
Wait!,where are you applying from? Or did you accidentally state that you've done an upfront medical when filling the study permit questionnaire? ??

Program: Post baccalaureate DIPLOMA, International Business, Thompson Rivers University(Fall, 2019)

Submitted(Online): 3rd of January 2019.
Biometrics: 9th of January
Medical request: 7th of February
Medical(Q-life): 13th of February
Medical passed: 19th of February
Biometric validity: 7th of March
Passport Request: 9th of April 2019.

**Documents submitted**
Sponsor documents(Father):
1. Letter of sponsor
2. Sponsor company ID card
3. Company CAC certificate
4. One property document
5. Company accounts:
Account A: inflw-124M outflw-63M balance-53M
Account B: inflw-64M outflw-62M balance-2M
6. Savings account:
Inflw:68M outflw-65M balance-3M

Client Information:
1. SOP(wasn't up to a page 4 paragraphs touching key points. Though the letter heading made it longer than a page.)

2. Education credentials (Waec certificate, Bsc certificate and transcript-student copy) I didn't include NYSC Certificate***

3. Curriculum Vitae ( A page CV)

4. Employment letter (internship) at Access bank in 300Lvl.

5. Letter of employment (from fathers company where I work, signed by my FATHER and his SECRETARY)

6. Police clearance certificate.

Other documents:
1. Filled IMM forms

2. Passport and travel history(UK,2008. I ALSO SCANNED THE DEPARTURE AND ARRIVAL STAMP)

3. Letter of acceptance( full tuition for a semester)

Resources used:
A. "Clear scanner" App on my phone(Scanned all the documents with my phone) and merged it. It's an amazing application.

B. "Ilovepdf.com" to compress also did that on my phone. Be careful with the online compressor you use because some store your data on their servers which can lead to sensitive documents being assessed by 3rd parties.

C. I didn't scan all the pages of the statement of account. It was to bulky so what I did was:
● I scanned the first 5pages; a page each of every month and the last 5pages of the last month. That way the quality was clear. I also attached the reference letter signed by the bank manager and relationship officer that way I had 3 reference letters one for each statement.

P.S: I kept my application simple and straight to the point and submitted my application 8 months before the program start date (Fall 2019), I submitted early to give my self contingency just incase I got rejected I can easily reapply. I joined this forum in part 11 and have been following up since then. I had to be patient regarding my application and it all started February 2016 back then I was clueless and met several agents I am glad I followed my instincts and used google and this forum to my advantage. I remember one agent asking me to bring 500k to help me "submit" my documents lol. After 9 different admission letters from 3 different institutions I finally got it right. To all the trv hopefuls keep the faith and be PATIENT AND CALCULATED. As usual I will continue offering my advice to whoever needs it.

Dealing with study Gaps/Purpose of Visit:
I have 5years study gap but I showed a good record of all my activities in the last 5years. Submitted my father's company blueprint what I hope to achieve etc. And summarised my motivation for a diploma program in a short but detailed SOP.

Home ties: Fathers company, Director in the company, corporative associations I belong, fathers property, family etc

Thanks bro, but seriously, she never paid another money for me other than the one she contributed when I was traveling at the initial stage. I hustled and paid all my tuition by myself. When I was applying for the masters in Korea, she provided the SOA, her payslip, her change of name document to prove that we bear the same surname before she got married, her house document, marriage certificate etc. So there is no paper trail to show she paid for my masters. So what do you think about this?
You were initially planning to sponsor yourself right?

Please I need get some information from you guys. I'm married but currently I'm South Korea doing my masters degree which I'm almost through. I used my sister's statement of account when I was applied for my masters in Korea (though I was single then), but now I'm married and I want to go for a PhD or another masters degree in Canada. My concerns is that I want to use my elder sister as my sponsor (as she works with a federal govt parastatal) but I'm afraid they will think how can a married man still be sponsored. I have money in my personal account but it's not up to the required amount. Will this be a hindrance? Thanks for your help
She has sponsored you in the past all you need is to get proper documentations to back it up. For example the statement of account showing all the transactions she made to you together with her work credentials. Make sure you pay your 1st semester tuition through her account also and provide proove of that too. All the best.

Thanks again @Qudkom.
I guess marriage would deal with the Home ties issue.
So if I have less 10mil does it mean no way to Canny for me?
No at all!!! The 10mill is just to be safe. You have a family so do well to:

1. Include your marriage and birrh certificate of you and your kids.
2. Make sure you include your wifes employment documents. Because they will wonder who will take care of your family when you are in canada. If she's gainfully employed then it's a plus.
3. If you can show receipts that youvr paid your kids school fees for lets say the next 2-3 terms then they no things are save back home. It can also make them believe you wonr try to play smart and bring your family at least not immediately***
4. Property documents if you have.
5. A detailed compilation of documents to prove what you've been doing since your last degree.
6. Detailed SOP
7. I keep mentioning about your family because that is your golden hometie. And make sure you read my post on home ties very important.
8. You can claim you have an family emergency account just incase anything pops up in your absence 500k-2mill will do it you have the means. That will also make the VO believe you are serious about coming back and you have things in place for your family.

Remember you have to be COHESIVE AND CALCULATED when compiling your documents. If it doesn't sound right or look good then it won't in the eye of a trained VO. All the best.

For the Home ties what would you recommend(any major one)...
For finance- any advice?
Solid Reason (any options)...
Thanks alot
For the finance part. I'll advice you pay first semester tuition (familiarise yourself with refund policies of the school first) get your parents preferably to sponsor you. A good account with good inflow/outflow and nothing less than 10-15mill after tuition payment is key. If you have any other inquires holla.

2. Salary account Statement

4. Reference letter from Employer

Salary account Statement six month should be enough right?
Yes. But what are you planning to do after your apparent studies? ?

Hello my good people, Can i use my salary account statement instead of payslip? because I don't seems to get the pay slip complete?
Payslips are secondary, employment letter will do. Though salary account, pension, tax clearance certificate is a huge plus if you have them. But not compulsory. You can also attach your id card. So basically:

1. EMPLOYMENT LETTER
2. ID CARD
3. SALARY ACCOUNT*
4. PAY SLIPS*
5. TAX CLEARANCE*
6. PENSION, etc...

I have even seen some that attach the cac certificate of the company they work but that's definitely a far reach.

Employment verification is done at random. The chances are very slim. However all they need is the authenticity and not your relationship with your past employees.

TRV processing time update 09/04/2019

We now have a sample of 34 hopefuls!

I would encourage those that have applied this year to share their timeline (with details such as; Application Route, whether you're a new or re-applicant, School Resumption Date, Application Date, Biometrics Request Date, Biometrics Done Date, Medical Request, Medicals Done, Medicals Passed, PPR or the Current Status of your application). If you don't have all this information, you can just share the ones that you have and update the rest as you receive it. This information would help us study or attempt to establish a pattern to how CIC operates. (Please note that the calculated estimates are just averages based on the little sample we have. Your processing time may be faster or slower than the average)

For those that have already submitted their timeline, kindly share if you are a new applicant or a re-applicant. Also, please share when you are expected to resume school. This would help us understand if there is a relationship between processing time and resumption date. (Cc Dedecoder, Godatwork23, Dolapok, Oni2019, docsaj, Klem28, Ancy 26, Trishaben, Omarzx, ify85, umulobi, Iykedpetes)

Finally, If there is anything you think i should add to the data or calculate from the data or if there is a better way you think I can present the data, I am always open to suggestions.
The dolapok applicant wasn't upfront medical it was requested.

Good day to the Gurus in the house:
Please can someone break this down :
A guy (36yrs) planning on going for masters (had his Bsc 10yrs ago) but 8years work experience and single and no strong home ties per se....also thinking of using his personal savings account and RSA to apply.... Would this scale through? Thanks to everybody
Age as nothing to do with this what is important are your home ties, financial vibrancy and a solid reason to apply for the study visa. Also establishing a time line for what you've been doing since you graduated is important. Lastly, a there should be a link between your last qualification, work experience and intended program.

Thanks for your reply sir, in answering the above questions,
1. The sponsor indicated of the affidavit that he's my uncle and my legal authorized guardian
2. The account he's using his a business account and I paid my fee through that account, I guess the inflow and outflow of the account is good.
3. I've an MSC which I acquired in 2018, and b4 that I had my bachelors degree in 2014, but due to the fact that I applied for an advance diploma I didn't indicate that I have an MSC while applying for admission.
4. I have 3 years working experience but it has a marketer for a company in Lagos, I wouldn't like to indicate this working experience[/quote]Lol please stop calling me sir. Based on what you provided and I hope others can provide more info:
1. Using your uncle isn't a bad idea, but the VO will want to know why your parents can't sponsor you and also the number of dependents he has to decide to invest millions in your education abroad.

2. You cant hide your work experience, the VO needs to understand what youvr been doing since 2014 and if you cant do that then your study gaps might count against you. Hence, refusal based on purpose of visit.

3. Your uncle sponsoring you with his company account is a little tricky. The VO's will need to understand why he will want to use business funds to sponsor you. Afterall he needs to pay workers, fund project, conduct business etc. And if there ate overdrafts in the company account then thats a huge redflag. If he can back it up with a savings account or transfer funds then you're good.

4. Your work experience as to tally with the program you are vying for and your previous degree.

5. You need a sound SOP.

Please this is just my opinion you are free to discard it or use it. So please fix the obvious loop holes and remember if it doesn't look good or sound right to you then it won't to a trained visa officer. Work on your study gap timeline, sponsor portfolio etc. All the best

Greetings house,Apart from available jobs and family..abeg what other things can I say would bring me back??
Hometies are economic, Financial, family, community involvements etc that can bring you back to your country after your study program. A lot of people just dump properties and think they've figured it out bu no. This are the lists of other things that surely count as hometies:

1. Are you in any cooperation, let's say you belong to some agricultural association that enables you invest with others in bulk and resell. That shows you have deep roots in your country.

2. You own or belong in a charity organisation where you hold and important position that also counts. As long has you can back it up with evidence.

3. You have aged parents that you have to look after when your done with your program.

4. Family business. If you work in let's say your father's company and lucky to be a director with CAC documents to prove this then you are good to go. You can finish it up by scanning a copy of the company account in the last 6months.

5. Then the usual property documents but this time I mean do you have a property that yields income lets say leased property, a current landlord, You collect royalties on some properties then you are good.

6. Shares and stocks***

7. Insurance plan.

8. For those with registered company you can create a company blueprint that you hope to archive in the coming years after studies.... I.e you have like 5 hectares of land explain the wonders you plan on doing there lol

There are more than a 100 different categories. And those that work in companies where they get paid less than 50k monthly. Do you really believe all VO's by the argument that you will come back to it?

Good evening sir,

Please, I applied for a 2 year course which would also make me do a one year I.T in Canada. I've paid my fees, I'm waiting for my sponsors account to be credited with about 7 million so that we can print the statement immediately and I've done my police report too. I don't want to be rejected, what do u advice me to do or what step is remaining for me to take b4 going submitting my documents, my sponsor also swear an affidavit too that he'll be responsible for my finances during my stay there. I'll appreciate immediate replies. Thanks in anticipation
Hello, you need to provide clear information before anyone on this platform can give you the best council. So I'll suggest you answer the following:
1. Who is the sponsor to you?
2. What's the estimated inflow and outflow in your supposed sponsors account? (If it's a lump sum deposit then thats a red flag. It's not as simple as putting money in an account printing The statement the next day ans apparently withdrawing it)
3. What's your previous qualification(s)?
4. Current job?
5. How many years study gap?

Answer the above questions and we go from there. Thanks.

Make sure they are DLI Institutes because that's very important for post study work permit. Always familiarise yourself with refund policies of this schools so it doesn't come back to hurt you.
