Good evening,

My school has two start times January and july).I deffered my admission to july but was unable to commence tge application till now.
So I have started gathering my documents and although my hubby is my sponsor, part of what I need for myself is reference letter from employer, at least 4 months bank statement .
I just started work here in January so have only 3 months statement, do you think this can work instead of 4 months?

I wanted to apply this month end and wonder if I can make it for the July resumption considering the processing time as next January is really far!!

I have the fff docs:
Consent letter from hubby
Letter of sponsorship
His reference letter
Employment letter and ID
Pay slips and statement
Pension reference letter

Marriage certificate
New paper report
Police certificate
My work Work reference letter (new job I atar5ed 2019 Jan)
Account stqtement(3 months)
Work reference letter
Passport photo
Wedding pictures
Family pix for us all
SOP
letter of admission showing tuition of 24k CAD and 10K CAD tuition deposit SO balance of 14k.

Academic transcript
WAEC certificate
NYSC certificate
IELTS results
1 Professional certification

N.B
I am yet to do my medicals.

Kindly advice.
Thank you
Firstly, in reply to your first paragraph. I know you have some documents together but please don't feel you need to rush an application. You need to sit down and consider all your options before submitting. But regardless I want you to put the following in perspective:

1. Your program starts July which means orientation probably kickstarts in June. Does the current visa processing time (cic) give you enough time to process your visa application?

2. I am sorry to say but this is my opinion. If your current job in which you haven't been there for 6months give you a supposed study leave your status and salary has to be convincing enough to a VO to compell you to come back home to it.

3. Does the the current job show progression in your career in relationships to your undergraduate degree and potential study program?.

Other than this I believe your hometies and financial portfolio is decent. So please plan accordingly.

1. My co sponsor dependant are just 2 kids that are stil in primary school and i tink i wil tell him to transfer me the money in my account

2. I have been applying for admission wich i have proofs of that but was not given and my primary course were all psychology before i ventured into the NGO

3. My dad dosent have only retirement benefit and whereas he is not retiring now its just a way of strengthening the financial aspect, and he collects rent from landed properties and earns well, and he VO should better believe because thats my father lol, and he is my main sponsor.

4. Dependants are just me and my kid bro who already is schooling on a schorlarship and there is proof to back that up, which now makes me the only dependant to worry about in educational aspect.

5.the NGO is related to the course of study, its walk and voice against street violence and military brutality and also sensitization of the youth, i plan on joining the force immediately after study, he investigation department on a short service and i have trainings and track records of achievement thus far and its a registered NGO which am a co-founder

So with that said, whats your take on it.
Well if you so believe you have it figured out and your plan will work out. Then please go ahead I know this 3rd party sponsorship can be tricky but not impossible and there isn't one way or a best approach to getting a trv approved. All the best. Just make sure you provide supporting documents to back your claims.

you said MSC, please sir can I go for MSC with nursing and midwifery certificate (double qualification) alone?
Morning, I thought I read bsc. I don't think you cN apply for an msc with that. But with the experience and certification you have all things being equal you shouldn't have issues convincing a VO about going for a bsc program in nursing.

Dont mind the way i arranged it please
Its my first time typing on nairaland
I am not yet familiar with the site.
Hi there, this are my preliminary observations and hopefully others add their inputs:
1. You did not mention your co-sponsors dependents. If he has 2 or more kids then I am sorry that might be tricky. Also on the contrary for this to work try and pay your tuition from his account and he can state that he has paid your tuition. He can then state it in a LOS that he has made his personal contribution to your studies. That way he isn't making promises that the VO might not believe.

2. You have to provide a detailed timeline of your study gap and also a detailed SOP on why you chose the program and why it took you so long to apply for an academic program.

3. If you are talking of your dads retirement benefit which is probably all that he has. What's the guarantee that a VO will believe he will use that to sponsor you on a program that can gulp 6-9mill yearly.

4. Fathers dependents also matters.

5. You need a damn good explanation on why you chose the program and what you intend to do with it in Nigeria because you have no experience in the field to begin with.

This like I said are my preliminary observations.

Good evening house and gurus.please I want ur sincere advice on this issue. I will appreciate all ur input..
firstly am a Registered Nurse /midwife.(NRN/NRM...
This what I have in mind, just that am confused on which to take...
1.... first option is sit for IELTS, and CBT , then contact an agency (I have some of them contact at hand) then go to the UK and work den sit for osce over there n become UkRN.
2..... second option is to study there, as in my bsc while schooling I will be working.....
3.....third option is to go to Canada, and do a PGD or so for like 1 year(11 months) before applying for bsc which I is 2 years... which one can still work and safe for the bsc...then one visa will be increased to 3 years.(so I heard) then I can now apply for Resident permit when I may have stayed up to 3 years there. (so I heard)
please gurus in the house , pls put me tru which is the best, and the advantages..
4....... pls help me include cheap\ less expensive university I can apply to. (for university option)
thank u.
I'll pick Canada anyday anytime. At least that's my opinion. About the school I will recommend Thompson Rivers University msc Nursing. Small city and reasonable living expenses. All the best.

Good morning guys..happy Easter

So I want to be clear about something,

I want to reapply, but am not sure if I can include a certification course I did with my application, though I didn't include it in my first application, not diploma, it's just a certification course in project management,I got admitted to study business administration...

I hope it won't have any negative effect,as in why didn't I put it in my first application

Thanks..

And to those that have reapplied ,please how much did you pay for the second application, still 67khuh
If it's in addition to your Bsc. Degree then it doesn't matter you can include it. Try and show a breakdown of what you intend to submit hopefully people can put you through. Your next application you should only need to pay your application fee less biometrics.

Good morning people...
Please I need help...
Regarding proof of financial capability, can sponsor which is dad, collect a letter from his micro finance bank and in the letter they state that he is capable of collecting a particular amount of loan, let’s say 3m...which will be used to settle school fees...
@frankrobb
@Austacus
Bro, a VO will have issues understanding why you'd need to seek a loan for a program that could otherwise be enrolled for in Nigeria. This isn't a student loan this is your father straining himself to provide the necessary finance.

All this raises the "Personal asset and finance" flag in the eye of a VO. Lastly, the money isn't at hand rather a promise note from a microbank assuring disbursement of a loan facility that would otherwise only cover 1st semester fees and a few month living expense. If you aren't only your father's dependent then I think you know what comes next. Please plan your financial portfolio accordingly.

P.s: I think the vo will find it hard to believe a document from a micro finance body and should be a last resort or addition to other documents. All the best rooting for a successful trv application.

There is work to be done on your refusal. The VO obviously think you are clueless about the entire application. They obviously saw many naive mistakes you made. This isn't the usual finance, home ties etc situation this is far different and I hopw you've picked one or two things from this thread. Now your next application needs to be solid and address key informations right from your finace down to home ties. Also the following will be needed in the next application:

1. The refusal document you failed to provide the last time.

2. An almighty SOP and letter of APPEAL!!!

3. Adequate financial portfolio.

4. Proof of home ties

5. Most importantly like the VO mentioned a reasonable academic program that shows progression in your studies. Goodluck in your next application and if you run into any brickwalls seek counsel from this forum or send me a message. Good luck

Hello nairalanders ,

I must say this thread is highly informative as I followed every page as it has helped me in getting my admission in M.A leadership (business stream) Trinity western University B.C Canada.
I am at the point of applying for my study visa but have these concerns. Please note that I was previously denied a Canadian study visa in 2016 due to the ffg:
1.I failed to indicate that I was denied a US visa previously.
2.The V.O stated that I didn't show sufficient ties to Nigeria.
3.The course of study was a certificate course in conestoga colledge.

I studied Dramatic arts graduating with a 2:1 Since 2003 served from 2004 to Feb 2005 and started work in a bank in August 2005 .
Stopped work in oct 2017 as an Operations manager then got a another job in a consulting firm in Jan 2019 where I work currently as a business analyst.

My question is how do I write a compelling SOP to facilitate my study visa application bearing in mind the gaps in education and time off work.Kindly note that my husband is my sponsor and I am not travelling with him or our kids.

I am anticipating helpful feed backs from our able experts.
Thank you in advance.
Before anything please tell me you didn't have MISREPRESENTATION has part of the reasons for your denial. Because the VO obviously thought you lied about your previous visa denial .

Thanks for your quick response @Qudkom

To Answer your questions:

1. My Wife is well employed and bouyant enough to cater for herself and the kids. With regards to what is left. That part i have thought about and thereby have a separate account that by the time i will be applying for my study permit should have about 3M in it.. this account is set up for monies for the family outside my travel plans expense... as for the compelling to come home.. i am taking my time to explain reasons for the program and why i wanna come back after my program due the the various opportunities here...

2. I run a software development firm... my clients are within and outside the country. I have two online startups and i've just started a custom T-shirt line business using my graphics... .. the goal is to come back after my program and setup Big Data and Business Intelligence sector for my company to expand my business.... so i guess that should be enough compelling reason to return

3. When you say having to work.. i think you are referring to having to work in canada on that $14 per hour for 20 hours a week job... NOPE.. thats impossible.. u will have to kill urself and affect ur study in doing that... i know this... my sustainance will be my business that will keep going.. all i will be doing from over there is project managing as i will have my team handle the actual projects... in preparing for this 5 months ago i started this method of running my business as if i wasnt in the country and have my team work on the projects while i project managing and its been pretty successful... this is the way i plan to fund my school, family etc...

I welcome more questions, concerns, queries, guidance as it will help me better my preparation...
Well you do have articulate answers I'll give you that. All that's left is to bind it together in your application. All the best....

Hello Everyone.. Happy Easter to you all.. i have been a silent follower of this thread.. i have read it from the very very very very first page and i've been following till date... even took some helpful tips into word document to help me get my info together...

I applied to a 3yrs Diploma program at Georgian College for Fall 2019, waiting to get my admission letter...

School Fees = $6,978.91
2 Semester (1yr) = $13960 => N3,908,800
Deposit = $2500 => N700,000
Living 1yr = $10000 => N2,800,000
Total = 6,708,800

My question is.. What is the best/safest amount to have in my account as proof of funds in my account as i am self sponsored, married with 3 kids.. who i do not intend to travel with.... for now...

Would appreciate your answers.. thanks
Hello, congratulations on your admission. It's a good thing you took the time out to go through the previous posts. There isn't a safe amount to have because a VO might have other ideas concerning your personal assets and finance. However I'd like to state a few things.

1. You seem to be a mature Applicant and one of the key things a VO would want to clarify is what happens with your family while you are studying; is your wife employed and buoyant enough to cater for herself and your child in your temporary absence? , when you pay up your tuition plus living expense what is left? Can that be enough for your family also lastly will your personal assets and finance compel you to come back home or are you likely to file for your family in the near future.

2. Is your current job compelling enough for your return.

3. If you decide not to use a co-sponsor do you have the financial strength to study without having to work. We are talking 6-8million yearly.

Lastly, A VO expects a mature applicant to have strong ties to Nigeria and will also question why you are deciding to further your education after so many years considering your study gap. So please in order to avoid unnecessary refusal reasons plan your trv application accordingly starting from your family welfare, personal asset and why and the need to further your education!. Remember you won't be there to defend yourself when the VO scans your application. All the best.

Hello, with the total breakdown you provided. You need to show proof of living expenses in the amount of 10KCAD. I believe if you can show that in your savings account or fixed deposit then you are good to go. Stop stressing yourself. Lastly, make sure you provide evidence of your earnings (Payslips, salary account and letter of employment from your work place.)

You can book online via the vfs website. But ideally, you can go there early. The staffs there will put you through. Also, download and fill the imm forms. If you got a biometric validity correspondence then you don't need to do biometrics again.

Hi, please it is important for you to follow a clear career path most especially education wise in Canada. Now a VO will need to understand why someone fresh out of university would like to switch to a social science/commercial program?( Thats major ground for rejection based on "Purpose of Visit"wink I will therefore suggest you show a subtle progression in your potential academic program. Lastly, you are fresh out of uni and all you still need to be careful about rejection based on "Personal asset and finance". All the best.
