PropertiesRe: What Age Should Owning A House Become A Priority? by queenfav(f): 9:08am On Apr 21, 2016
Acidosis:
You can buy a house in your state for the purpose of investment. However, do not think of building a home in your state, while you live and pay rent somewhere else. You may not recover your expenses in 30 years if you put in on rent.

Before you build your dream home, think about where you really wish to reside. Do you still wish to apply for jobs in other states? countries? Where do you wish to live? now and after retirement?

What if your husband live elsewhere? A house remains an immovable investment. Many people who struggled to build never reap the rewards of their labour. If the purpose is to leave something for your children, a home is just a fantastic venture, but economic-wise, there is little to be desired.
You raised valid points..first off all, i see it as an investment..My mother bought d land on which our house was built for 70k..today we get 120k rent annually for the bq.I just want a landed property somewhere that i can put up for rent,i mustn't live there na..With the high rate houses are let out for, trust me,i would recover my money in 5-7 Years. As for work and marital considerations, i cant let any of them hold me back, even if my husband lives elsewhere does it mean he has to move in with me?I am yet to be married so have to make plans for me and me alone,it doesn't stop me from getting married or taking up a job offer abroad.I want to build a house so i can be getting rent from it,rather than invest in a business that i can't supervise personally.

From the moment you start working, you should have savings that would eventually be used to get a plot of land.Little by little, yoi can start building, before 2 - 3 years, you should be able to move into your own house.Hopefully, by this year end,i would buy a plot at any upcoming area in my State for 300k at most.

Nairalanders are wicked!!! grin @op don't mind them forming what they are not. Who doesn't like being spent on by her man. Tomorrow now if you marry this kind of guy and complain about him not taking care of you and the kids, they will be the first to ask if you didn't notice all that during courtship. In relationships there are little things that matters, it mustn't be expensive gifts and all that but most times it's good to show your partner you care. Don't nag him about it because it might just be his nature, teach him how to by buying him gifts once in a while.
muah!It beats me why some people make comments contrary to what they actually do in real life. Many of d female nairalanders that commented above are probably one of those that cant walk into a fast-food to buy food of 1k for themselves ,except their bf does that for them, yet they would be on nairaland forming bosslady! There is no award for most liked female, its a free forum, abeg speak your true mind!Who una wan impress here?Every woman should strive to make her own money, but a man who claims to love a woman provides for her, protects her, and professes his love for her by his attitude, care and commitment. Kim kardashian is not hungry by all standards, yet kanye still spoils her silly with exotic gifts. That doesn't mean she cant get them for herself, but it's nice seeing that ur man occasionally gets u nice gifts and vice versa.Issues like this are what has resulted in the current situation where we find hardworking women being “husbands” to lazy men,who dont see anything wrong in letting a woman pick up their bills.Nikenry and amelian,God bless u both for saying it as it is.. Make some dey there dey talk wetin dem no go fit advice their younger sister to do.

RomanceSee The Advice of A male Lawyer To Guys Who Label Ladies As Gold-diggers! by queenfav(op): 9:53pm On Apr 09, 2016
Whereas many young guys these days would like to criticise young ladies and argue for themselves that "most girls don't want to struggle with a guy who still a work in progress, rather they want a finished product." I have a different view.
my first response is this: what would you want for your own sister at home? Would you prefer for her to bring home a man who is still struggling to get a job, instead of a man who is financially stable and can take care of her basic needs? Would you prefer her to be trekking under the hot sun everyday with a "work in progress guy" instead of a guy with a decent car that can carry her in comfort; or at least pay for a cab to take her where she wants to go? Would you prefer to see her looking haggard and tired everyday from the stress and financial strain of joint contribution for upkeep of the home, rather than looking younger everyday from a man who can take such burden off her shoulder and put her in comfort?
A woman is not a burden bearer: a man is. Forget all this modern bullshit talk about gender equality: the only reason why women are crying out for equality is because many men fail in their responsibilities so women need equal opportunity to fend for themselves.
A good woman deserves a man who can take care of her basic needs: put a roof over her head, and provide for her. Any man who is not capable of doing that should not be professing his love to any woman otherwise he will put her in unnecessary hardships.
What happens when she gets pregnant? Then they both start staring at each other wondering how to buy pampers and baby food?
I have come to realise that a lot of guys thoroughly misunderstand the female folk. I came to understand that most women are not gold diggers. Nor do they even want you to have a huge bank account or drive the most expensive car on the road (trust me guys, the average girl doesn't even know the difference between a Honda, Toyota and a Nissan: her only concern is whether the car is clean, looks decent, has air-condition and sound system... Lol) Women just need to have a sense of security- that you can take care of yourself and be a rock for her to lean on.
A man need not be a 'finished project' but he should be in advance stages of 'development' before taking on a wife. Just as a house need not be fully painted before you move in- but it must have left foundation stage. If a guy is still in foundation stage, he should be concerned about building up himself rather than looking for a woman who will 'understand'
Let men be men for real. Play your part and stop complaining.

NB:This was written by my friend,NLS study partner and learned colleague..#respectbro..He nailed it!Nairalanders, share your thoughts.

Sweetheart, it has its advantages. Some women like to maintain their privacy and remain anonymous. Especially the rich ones.
I understand, but I don't just see why i should pay a man for that,na so my case bad reach?Anyways, some women enjoy being their own man,so they have no qualms about it.Seriously, dont u think you should stop? You have a promising future being a professional, its not worth it.There's dignity in honest hustle,no matter what! Its better u have a relationship because u enjoy her company and vice versa, not because u want to get paid for providing sex.ual satisfaction.Someday,u may look back and hate yourself and the life you have lived.I am not a saint or S.U member, hell i am even very dismissive about certain morals, but i see it as very degrading to reduce myself to a f.uck toy for anyone..Give it some thought bro.
