Romance › Re: When 'love' Makes You Cry by queensmith: 9:10am On Jun 13, 2012
One should be paying attention to screen names it says alot about character. Thank God for the internet, the OPs type is the type i run faaaar faaar away from! the closest i've come to it is watching kidulthood and other noel clark movies. . . . . .no wonder they fascinate me so, i'm the opposite of a ghetto child.

But I feel the need to ask this; i've never understood what motivates 'ghetto love' I was watching this programme called love and hip hop and there's this woman (forgotten her name) she acts a complete FOOL! I just cannot believe a decent man can stay with her! The same for fabulous's girlfriend who he denies in public, she seems a decent woman with a fantastic job! why on earth doesn't she leave him? and there was another reality show i got to watching (shipwrecked) when brymes and dominique got together (watch the booty go bounce an a base drop) i found thier little fight cute but it still got me wondering.
I guess my question is this- what are ghetto relationships like?

Romance › Re: When Guys Signals For You To Come Over... by queensmith: 8:54am On Jun 13, 2012
Scash: I was on my way home today and then someone drove past... He slowed down as he was moving so when he parked a few meters away and waved for me to come over, I felt he was someone that knew me or somthing. So I walked n even jogged over to where he was and the next thing... 'I want to see you'
First dt line was disgusting and second, why did he have to park so far away making me trek under hot scorching sun. I just had to hiss and walk away. But after I did, I felt bad that maybe I was too rude.
Another guy actually stood at the other end of the road one time like that and told me to come ova... I acted rude too...
So now, am like is there a better way to act to guys that feels to big to walk up to where you are. I don't want to get beaten up one day
The way a guy approaches you speaks alot for the type of person he is, I definitely don't go for the 'approach women all over the gaff' type those are men whores that will score anywhere and anyhow- likely to have aids.
If you respect yourself you should know how you want to be treated- never second guess that because some street urchi want to pull. They should be at work or doing something productive with their time. lol
Romance › Re: Is Cheating Sweet? Confess Now! by queensmith: 8:46am On Jun 13, 2012
Cheating is unnecessary, why don't you just leave your partner and do what you want? Than make life complicated for yourself. Remain single and enjoy all the pleasures you please. Subjecting yourself and your partner to hurt all in the name of playing some game is twisted.

Olalekan 0: Reason why nigerian women have to put up with cheating and abusive men is because they(women) are broke and cannot take care of themselves should they leave the men. Shikenar
it's not the only reason, they've been raised with 'its a mens world' mentality. Believing men can do what they like and get away with it and all they need to do is be married to be happy. Thats why alot of them don't even focus on having proper careers and never have enough to sustain themselves.

Billyonaire: may be he will come first with extra lessons
thats what i was thinking, one schools first is another schools last. I don't think parents should ever be content with class position. Its incredibly deceiving.

There should be an average that you can weight your kids potential against, and if he/she is reading fine at his/her grade you move them up to the next one. I don't think it's possible to overwhelm a child with knowledge! lol never heard of it!

What exactly is the zero tolerance policy? Saying you have a zero tolerance policy doesn't cover it. How have they planned to enforce it? What measures do they plan to take on people that cross the line? Have they taken such action to date? What have they done to curb the offence? They need to nip this bullshyte in the bud its getting a bit too much, this year alone has seen excessive racism and we're in the 21st centuary. Racism should never be tolerated, be it in football, handball netball, basketball or transgender beauty pageants. I'm soo sick and tired of it.

I doub't he will have had the authority to sink ships since someone will have been shipping those bibles (at a very high cost) to make some sort of profit. We should at least know where the reported ships are or have heard the owner of the ships complain?
Romance › Re: Please How Do I Get Over Her by queensmith: 12:16am On Jun 13, 2012
oparah chi: Hello nairalanders, some of you might remember my story i put up some months back about my girlfriend who i dated for 5years breaking up with me on the account that i wasnt JEHOVAH'S witness, and she didnt think it was safe for us to build a future with the variation in our christian doctrine.
however its been 4 months since the break up, and i still havent gotten over her yet. i miss her badly and hoping maybe some day a miracle in this regard would make her come back. i have really tried moving on. currently there are about 2 girls who really like me, but am not interested and still wish my ex comes back. the worse part is that we dont even talk anymore. we dont call ourselves anymore. please how do i get over her. your advice would me highly appreciated. thanks.
i remember those times, when I thought i'd never get over a guy. fast forward a year i was already madly in love with another! The point is heartbreaks are hard, they are also a part of life and the time you spend moping over this lady who has left you is time that could be better put to use getting ready for your future mrs.
Everytime you think of her in your head just find something else to do, get busy, find a hobby, meet with friends, drink wine do something! lol. You are going to find someone else and look back on these days as the good ole ones, better sooner than later eh!

smartmom: A friend has been in an argument with me on the need for lesson teachers for her kids and am wondering what the heck! with all the huge school fees of high brow schools, why would I need to employ extra teachers? Please I need to hear other parents' view here.
It depends on the schools syllabus, the pace at which your child is learning and the environment of the school.

It's better to find a school that covers all your educational requirements but if not parents will need to supplement the childrens education with extra tuition.

I don't see anything wrong with it, it's not as if the child has to moonlight as a truck driver. The child has time and a nice young vibrant mind to learn with. Why not teach him/her as much as you can before he/she starts to rebel! lol
Romance › Re: 5 Qualities Of A Wife by queensmith: 12:03am On Jun 13, 2012
Long One: Apologies for the late response, then again, commitment to Nairaland has never been one of my strong points.
Not true, I guess it depends on the individual.
Unfortunately for me that strong point is tied to the ability to procastinate sad

Long One: During the heat of the recession, I was lucky to have interned under a Senior Industrial Fellow of University of Cambridge, as part of a Government initiative to increase Engineering & Manufacturing productivity in SME’s.
It was not the training from a top University that helped, but my street sharp naija attitude (flexibility, openness to change), the ‘e go better’ spirit (positive outlook in the face of failure), and most importantly, the Man upstairs.
My point is “you can take a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink”, so having a fantastic qualification is not a prerequisite to exposure, rather it comes from within – an individual willing to see the world in a different light. Thus, the individual should take precedence over the ‘good university’.
The same naija attitude associated with misogyny, homophobia, moral bankruptness and bigotry. I will rather not thank you very much.
To add, students from universities like oxford and cambridge are more likely to be 'out of the box' thinkers, thats the calibre of individuals expected from russel group universities. That's the whole point of them, it doesn't mean someone who isn't from those universities can't make it. You'd just have to try much harder, (or find the nearest ethnic minority programme to give you a boost grin grin).
A horse from an ivy league institution has taken him or herself to the water, it's a big reflection on who you are, you cannot deny this.

Long One: Well, quoting my rather mischievous brother “a marriage is either a merger or an acquisition/hostile takeover”. In your case, you want a merger, which should be a team, No?
HRM laws require a mixture of personalities to form a winning team, where individual strengths complement each other. In Physics, it’s ‘like poles repel and unlike poles attract’ or some ish like that.
In conclusion, your husband shouldn’t necessarily be the same as you; rather he should complement you in such a way that you balance each other out. Vision wise, yes, but University wise, No. Then again, what does an ignorant nukka from a ‘not so good university’ know?
Are you trying to say a succesful project requires a complementary mix of bad and good? What about good and better? I absolutely disagree with you, whether or not you attended a russel group institution you should be able to appreciate the fact that the graduates are more socially refined. Besides the academic excellence you have students from enhanced backgrounds, students with cultural capital, not the rubbish you come across every day in the 'others'. I don't believe for one second my husband needs to come from an 'other' school to balance my relationship, I think the notion is ridiculous. You see you wouldn't be coming up with that if you went to oxford would you? tongue tongue

Long One: Yeah, I guessed as much, still, I wanted to look into your mind – the engine seems to be running fine, but it might need a full service, lol.
Not your fault! monkey!

Long One: I agree with you totally, apart from the “good university” part. In fact, I think I’ll have me a ‘good university’ graduate for breakfast, lol.
I believe people need to say what the must to feel better about themselves. Going to a good uni doesn't guarantee anything, it just assures me to some extent that he/she has been in a better environment than most and has no excuse to be a nonsense individual. However I won't really place much blame on someone that hasn't, we are all products of our environments right?

It's quite funny because I never knew of this when I was studying virology and the only cases resistance to HIV that I came across was the case of the Kenyan Prostitutes, The result was probably unintentional and if so it's a massive shame nobody thought of it! Makes sense!lol

I was trying to find a research paper but couldn't, i'm pretty sure he didn't have Aids, he would have died instantly if he was anywhere near needing an organ transplant. Besides a sensible (and fair) medical system probably won't treat him. Unless the whole point was to see if it will cure him. curioser and curioser.

It doesn't really offer a solution but it's definitely an option, I'm just a little confused at how the mutant CD4 cells can avoid infection. I thought the USP grin grin of HIV was being able to replicate alternative forms of the invading protein so it can bypass immune attack. I'm definitely going to waste my time getting to the bottom of this! lol

iz2much: I am an undergraduate and married. My husband hardly gives me attention because of a 14-year-old girl. He lied to me that he only wanted to help her, but I caught him making love to her in the same compound where we live. I saw them in the girl‘s room. He was almost speechless and ever since, life has been anything but peaceful at home. Anytime I complain, he doesn‘t listen. Yet I do everything possible o make him happy and I have prayed to God to take control. One night he woke me up and declared that he had stopped sleeping with her, but I knew it wasn‘t true. Now, he wants my love. What do I do?
