Seems Gen Zs are tilting the landscape. Those young men and women either know their worth and what they want at a very tender age or are on the fast lane wanting to hit huge targets within no time. I’m a Gen Z and I couldn’t agree more! Suffering at workplaces to prove our worth ain’t the it for us. Any opportunity to make our work life easier we sieze it. Toxic work environment is a real thing and no one should endure that! We’re all humans. I wonder whether you or your peer employers have audited their leadership styles too, and terms of employment. I would be glad to compare, because I believe no one just leaves a job they looked for so painstakingly. Surely it can't be just a one way thing. |

Karleb: Setting goals in Nigeria is like asking a girl for her body count.
If she says 4, add 10 to it.
You should have added 10 to your 23.
Nigeria will shatter you and your dreams, does not matter the money or influence you have.
It's even worse when you are average and worst when you are poor. |

For all who are commuting in this Fuel Scarcity and high price of petrol palaver in Nigeria in the last few weeks, I am curious to know what palliatives your organization have put in place to help reduce pressure and the long hours on the road..
Are there financial cushion for transport fare or fuelling support?
Kindly share the initiatives in place to manage this situation.
Will be open to suggestions. |
Family › At 15, I Planned Out My Whole Life And Saw Myself Happily Married At 23 by QuinModah(op): 4:34pm On Jan 28, 2023 |
At 15, I planned out my whole life and saw myself happily married at 23😂
There was nothing anyone could say to advise me.
At that time it was possible because things were going smoothly...
I was supposed to finish secondary school at 16, graduate from university at 22 as a doctor and get married at 23.😂
But life had other plans.
That same year, -I almost lost my mother during childbirth. -My dad cut off all contact with me -I dropped out of the private school I was attending to go to a public school -We almost became homeless
Nothing would have prepared me for that. I wouldn't even have imagined I would be a copywriter, enjoy selling, or even be writing this post.
And even if I could take it all back, I don't think there is anything I would want to change...
Because those experiences made me the strong go-getter I am today.
I enjoy what I do, I feel good when I write and the idea of getting married at 23 seems ridiculous to me(I don't know what the idea of others may be)
What am I trying to say?
There is nothing wrong with setting goals but, don't beat yourself up when life happens and you can't achieve them.
Set goal Make plans and just keep moving. As far as you're moving, you're making progress
P.s Today, I just started a 30-day writing challenge with Chiamaka Joyce and it's going to be awesome. I can't wait to share all I have in store for you. ❤️ |

You are wicked Hidentity: Great Post, but the former employee part does not always work.
For instance, someone reached out to me through LinkedIn to ask about a particular place I worked, with a view to knowing certain things. I gave her a general answer of "It is like any other entity with its peculiarities".
Meanwhile, I won't recommend that place for anyone. However, I bet you don't expect me to start raising the issue of toxic environment and others with a stranger who is looking at working there. |

After spending 4 hours in a fuel queue in Lagos, the fuel station announced it had run out of fuel.
Some left, others stayed overnight waiting for the next supply.
The reports are that you only get fuel after spending 6hours and above in a fuel queue. The traffic caused by these fuel queues is a story for another day.
In the UK and US, gas prices are at its highest in recent years and people are have to pay more to use their cars.
These are just some of the challenges people face to get to work and back.
HR Managers/Business owners, there is no better time to revisit your hybrid/virtual work arrangements.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Salary Blackmail by QuinModah(f): 1:01am On Jan 18, 2023 |
Requesting for a well Deserving Salary Increase is not a Do or Die Affair: Ask for it Anyway.
Asking for a raise shouldn’t be daunting if you have done your homework well and made yourself indispensable.
The talent war is such that only those with the right skills, qualities and competencies can negotiate what they want.
Most feel it’s impossible to do. First thing is the mindset, I have coached several and it’s no brainer that once your result can do the talking, half the task is done.
However, before you walk into that office and command the numbers you want, take a moment to ponder these:
1. Have you consistently met targets and goals?
2. Did you rise to any new challenges that the company faced and over delivered on the task?
3. Did you subsumed other people’s work as a result of their exit?
4. Have you added any relevant skills that would impact on your job?
5. What can you bring on board this new year?
If you answer “yes” to at least three of these, you are fit to request a raise as no good organization wants to lose its talent.
You have two outcomes- the request is granted or you gain experience on how to negotiate with a win-win mindset.
How then do you ask for a raise?
Research salary trends. Every job has a corresponding market value. Ask colleagues from other organizations.
List out your achievements in writing.
Choose the right time to ask.
Set a meeting. It’s ideal to ask for a pay raise in person and in private. If you can avoid it, don’t ask for a raise in an email.
Prepare what to say and rehearse your pitch.
Remember the goal is to engage positively and not get aggressive.
Thank your boss. Regardless of how the conversation goes, thank him/her for the opportunity.
Send a follow-up email that summarises your conversation.
If decline, you may request a raise at a later date, and if you do, you can reference the email. |
