At my place of work the other day(am a private school teacher). A female colleague was asking my why I don't often buy ashoebi when attending ceremonies of there colleague?

I asked: between my presence and buying ashoebi, which is more important?. She said both

To me I said its the presence that matters. She told when am am getting married people won't equally buy my ashoebi and I replied I won't even sell ashoebi to them and she was just looking at me.

The last asoebi they brought for a trade marriage was 2k. And I will need at least 4k to sew it. Put together is more than 10% of my salary. One other colleague confided in me that he is yet to pay for the sewing for the previous ashoebi bought

I am not against things like that... It's actually beautiful and nice. If there is extra money to spare - why not. But not trying to please people when you know it's killing you.

The last wedding we all attended, I was the only one who sprayed the celebrant good amount of money. Most sat down with their asoebi wondering how I get money to always spray celebrant. They didn't know that the 2k I sprayed is the amount o packed for the ashoebi that I didn't buy���

Thats what i do as a single guy broda.. some days i dont spend a dime. Why will i spend when garri dea, beans, rice, indomine, ingredients yakpa? Even tfare self i no spend cos i get bike to dea take turn around

The basic thing is that an average man in Nigeria is not feeding on his salary. When you calculate how much you spend daily on feeding transport giving flexing ashawo money like some said ,giving to gf, clothing and so on. You will discover that you actually spend more than your salary. Except you have a side hustle or your salary is okay enough for you. But for family men, an unexpected spending will surely come in.

Like now. I got home yesterday and my son had injured himself. I spent extra 10k and still counting. Money wey b say I suppose use arrange him graduation bill.

lies if u and ur wife can be making at least 350k- 400k a month u will still leave well with aleast 3 kids..u will live as an average citizens how many families make 1m every month in niaja ..lies

Na only women dey enjoy for marriage because then don drop all their responsibility to the man.

I get plenty married friends were dey wish say them dey single like me as I dey text you so!

For single guys one thing I notice is that if you can cultivate that habit of not going out unecessarily after work/biz or at least limit it, you will save money.

Hanging out with friends, staying late night etc prompt unecessarily spending

But for married people, you don't have a choice. Wife and children must eat.

Transport to work :700/1k
Food :1200
My Total expenses in a day is between 1k to 2k
Sometimes I don't spend money on food for the day if I have the food to cook and all ingredients at home

Ok. Thank you very much. I feel like I’m living above my income but I don’t know how to cut cost. Cooking homemade meals are also expensive. I tried making stew and I spent 5100.

1kilo of chicken is 2800
2 ice fish 1500
Fresh tomato and pepper was 800
I had the other ingredients at home. The stew isn’t much and I’m sure it would only take me today and tomorrow to finish it. Nigeria is tiring.

Fueling gen is like 1k/day. I tried economizing by turning off the ACs but I still didn’t notice any significant changes. I’m tired.

they dont pay rent,,thier parents assist them ,they live with parents and have some relatives abroad...my guy nor be waiting them they argue with our current inflation and interest rate a single staying alone cant survive with 40k a month..expect u nor wan use utilities ...

Me no ready for marriage as I dey so for this economy, I never ready to dey take care of another person family and her and this age no be age to dey trust woman especially Nigeria women.

Hmmm! Daily breakfast for bread and tea is about 2000. (Break 750, Twisco and peak milk 700, egg 400, am not using sugar today). Lunch box for 2 kids collect like 800 daily.

Lunch + dinner + crunches + fuel + etc

I spend between 8k -10k daily shaa

The last time i spent 8k feeding my family in a day was like 2yrs ago b4 things started going crazy! The day i realized was the day i went out with 2 of my daughters, we went to a POS, took 15k and i gave the money to my first daughter to pay for whatever we bought. At d end of the buyings, we were left with 'coins' of abt #300! That was the day i started calculating upandan! The only thing we bought that day that lasted till d following day was 3k fuel for the gen cos i had fuel in d car! Every other thing we bought was just for that day! So bros, u are right o, and its not a matter of being extravagant!

Family of 4, hmm, I don't buy stuff daily. I but weekly, sometimes biweekly. we don't do chop chop outside, all meals are home made except donkunu. About 400cedis per week. Gas is a monthly expense so it is excluded...
I haven't even included school allawance we dey give the two younger ones.. Shooooo..

if you spend 8k daily that means, there are base tins you should have at home that you are not providing.

If you buy food stuff for the month at home you will not spend that amount daily.

..... You dey try. Only fueling of my car and the generator on daily is more than 5k.

Children's breakfast and the ones in their food packs alone cost like 4k daily.

Then 150 naira ice cream for each on their way back from school for 4 kids is like 600 naira.

Fueling of my wife's car everyday is like 2000 naira. Other unforseen expenses like refusing to eat what's available in the house and buying them snacks on my way home .
Let's say I spend like 14 to 15k.
