I wont be surprised if she is from the east masquerading as northerner

Infact... She is igbo not anywhere near the north. i am 100% sure

There has been many lame attempts to color anything the president does and tag it anti north by your favorite culprits.

It was an unpopular strike that was doomed to fail. Suspending the proposed strike at this point is simply to save face.

Should they have gone ahead with it, they would have been disgraced.

Same way NLC became a toothless bulldog during Buhari - Wabba time.

Not just, they are indescribably wicked. If not rigging which may be allowed in Islam how can a Muslim Muslim ticket win in kaduna?

It's this same mentality that led Elrufai to go with his MM ticket.

The SK people fought politics with religion - ostracizing anyone that associated with the Elrufai admin(2015 - 2018, even though they never voted the man, they believed like SE that GEJ was the Christian candidate and it was crusade voting him against Buhari) to the extent that then Elrufai's deputy opted for the Senate - which his people voted against him.

They felt and believed Elrufai should come, beg and bend the knee in their front (politically) like some KD govs have been doing in the past, he damned those voices and WON, by significant margins, putting it on record that they lack the strength to toy and blackmail him.

So long as religion is the determinant of Kaduna politics, a Muslim will always come tops.

Politics / Re: End Of Subsidy May Mark The End Of NNPC by Raheeqilmaktoom: 2:10pm On Jun 05, 2023
absoluteSuccess:

Very insightful question, our problems ought to really enrich us to creating a lasting solution. How have we been getting our petroleum resources ever since we stopped refining hydrocarbons?

That's far too much, but how many barrels of oil per month do we consume? Who are ones responsible for the purchasing and what are their facts and figures and what does their statistics says? NNPC, IPMAN.

The source of our statistics remains the best benchmark for our consumptions. There's no black market bringing petroleum products to Nigeria, so it's nnpc, then it's distribution exercise is done by IPMAN across the land.

Now, the precursory to "independent marketers' take over" is what we are having as for now. What's in the news is that NNPC would no longer exchange crude oil for petroleum but sell crude oil and buy petroleum.

So instead of exchange, it now buys and sells to refineries at home and in the international markets. It also pays for petroleum products.

With time, home based refineries will have excess petroleum products to sell to IPMAN and to nnpc. Sooner or later, NNPC will have less petroleum to buy from abroad.

With more indigenous refinery, it will be buying the same product from where IPMAN is buying at home in that instance and would serve as a regulatory body in that it could sell with minimal profit margin where IPMAN would have exploited the market.

In this instance, it's still a consumer protective system, businesses are out to maximize profits anywhere they are sited. Government is often running at deficit, except the ones with almost zero tolerance for corruption.

NNPC isn't under obligation to buy fuel at the international market, the company is a key and major investor in the Dangote refinery (20% stake) plus it's own refineries coming online in the next few years and possibly more deals and agreements with other players - the sky is the starting point for NNPC, if they can run it as business.

If not for a few limiting clauses in it's act, it's a Standard Oil (google about the company and how it worked) in the making in relation to our smaller oil companies (especially mid and downstream).

NNPC has ended when Petroleum Industry Bill was passed into law

What we have is NNPLC a private company with Nigeria owning stakes

People like Forte Oil, Oando, Bovas would show NNPLC shege.. it's now a free market

With the way NNPC is going and if it continues going in such direction, I see it taking over the downstream sector.

They have the highest reach of all the players (from Lagos to Maiduguri) and have more capacity than most of the players, if they can maintain the business sense, in a few years they will take over the downstream sector.

FYI, same NNPC has taken over Oando stations nationwide thereby increasing it's reach and bringing itself closer to more consumers.

Atiku should have supported Jonathan in 2015, only God knows what he was thinking back then.

If Obi contest against Asiwaju and Atiku again in 2027, Asiwaju will win.

Asiwaju performance will determine how wide the margin will be

Him supporting GEJ 2015, that would have been a risky move.

First class emirs from Adamawa were sent packing by insurgents, had he supported GEJ back then, he would have kissed his goodwill bye forever. And his support might not have mattered - a bigger wave (Buhari) was blowing over the north, he would have been blown away.

The kwakwasiyya movement is an offshoot of sorts of the Buhari movement, this tells you how big things were back then.

Man is consolidating his hold on the party, they thought getting the courts to do abracadabra regarding Ayu will see Atiku losen his grip but he is putting in more effort - sad thing though as this is something he should have done way back 2007 - 2011.

All these moves may end up serving APC to retain the seat 2027 and hold on after 2031.

There's a lot which isn't in the public domain, PIA recommends subsidy to last NOT LATER THAN 18 months after the act comes into force, the current year's budget on the other hand captures subsidy till July, FG can decide to do away with it before the July date without contravening any law.

But that's not what NNPCCL has done, which was what Falana is challenging. They have set the benchmark price for all sales of PMS.

More like peak milk claiming all evaporated milk will now be 300/tin. 🥺

They set the price for NNPC stations and businesses, other marketers can sell at N100 or N600.

Human Rights Lawyer, Femi Falana has described the decision of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to increase pump price of PMS as illegal.

He was speaking on the sideline of an emergency meeting of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) National Executive Council in Abuja.

Mr Falana said NNPCL has a limited liability company does not have any legal power to jack up the price of petroleum.

He urged the federal government to go back to the drawing board with a view to finding alternative solution to the problem, one of which he says includes the need to address the dollarization of Nigeria’s economy.

Falana also said Nigerians will challenge the decision, adding, however, that the solution to the fuel problem will be both legal and political.

https://www.channelstv.com/2023/06/02/nnpcs-decision-to-increase-pump-price-of-petrol-is-illegal-says-falana/

I need to understand what Mr. Falana is saying here.

Is it that NNPC can't fix price for other players or what?

A limited Liability company has every right to set for itself the price at which to trade it's products, peak Milk can decide to increase the price of it's products tomorrow, it's another thing if people will still buy.

Your reps are not marginalized in any way Oga. They just don’t want to put any effort into helping you people. Some northern politicians have to literally beg these heads of agencies for slots on behalf of their constituents. Southern politicians don’t think their constituents are worth going through that much stress for. Just forget this marginalization talk. A lot of southern politicians kids are working in top agencies in Abuja because their parents hustled it for them, the same politicians don’t want to go through that stress for the common man.

This is where 'the our reps have no slots' finish.

Obi got more votes in Adamawa, Bauchi and Gombe than was allotted to him.

Are you saying that if INEC had allowed for transparency in the last election that the outcome wouldn’t have been different?

Obi might have got a few thousand more votes in Taraba, but I doubt he will beat Atiku there. This is my backyard.

If anyone told you Obi would have gotten more votes in Gombe, Bauchi and Adamawa, tell him his second name is Linus.

Or could you be referring to Rivers State?

Lol, stop with it please.

Elections are over, it's time to drop the act.

He may have lost Rivers (which is inconsequential by the way - winning or losing as it provided no significant numbers to his tally already so long he got his 25%) but he got enough votes from the region and he is poised to consolidate.

He is in control of the Party as it stands.

I don't know who will better him in that Party. Dankwambo cannot even win his NE cumulatively.

Tambuwal is from the NW, how many Southern States will he win? It will only take the 'unseen' hands of the Presidency to initiate that coup.

LP and the Presidency are parallel lines. As long as the PDP and LP go into elections with different Candidates, it is a sweet and delicious ride for the APC.

KD already showed you where the North will go, if they don't go APC.

@the italicised, what will make them support Obi if they get a refined Candidate in their own Party?

@ the bolded, that will be in Southern Nigeria/Benue/Plateau not core-North. It will always be his albatross. The PDP will likely field another Northern Candidate in 2027.

How can Obi win any NWern State?
How can he win any NErn State? That is 13 already!

I don't blame Obi. It is not just about himself, it is where he is from. So, I pity him and myself inclusive.

If God keeps Tinubu alive, it is still 2031.

2031 is will be the turn of the north. Any southerner contesting the presidency then will be wasting his time.

Obi’s last chance is 2027. But I insist that with the right alignments, LP and PDP could dislodge Tinubu.

The only right alignment here is some PDP members working for Obi which is:

1. A tall order.

Obi's only hope is for the PDP to capitulate to him which is highly impractical, the PDP would rather present a candidate and pull off the same thing he did on them in 2023 than provide him a pathway.

It's going to be a war of attrition as they call it in military - a war where you continuously take pounds of flesh from each other with no winner between you save APC, in this case.

2. They lack the spread and capacity to effect any meaningful impact.

The 2023 demographics show the bigger north, the SW and some SS areas going with APC, if the president performs, that combination will stand - even stronger, and there's no way PDP, LP can beat that.

If they want to unify the naira exchange rate, the idea is to figure a way to bring the parallel market down to the official rate. Devaluing the naira official rate is absolutely reckless.

I think its the other way round, the black market is the true reflection of the forex market without all the support and cosmetics, to unify the exchange rate, they have to let of the official rates.

Valid point.

But would a PDP southern candidate not be greeted with same sentiments or would PDP rather go for a northerner which would be more suicidal?

So, you see why an alliance with Obi remains PDP’s best chance?

What he's saying in other words is that if BAT performs, the opposition (PDP, LP, Sowore whatever) should forget 2027.

PDP aligning with Obi might only help them 2031 to take APC out of power - in an all northern contest, Obi may probably not even have a place.

it is true. Same CBN denied devaluing naira when it was 430 but later on accepted that it was devalued. This devaluation will be the beginning of the fall of Tinubu. I pray Peter Obi reclaims the mandate because the problem will get worse with a deluded criminal leader like Tinubu.

Some of fed govt agencies are very guilty of what Daily Trust mentioned, they won't call it devaluing but rather a funny name.

Moving the official exchange rate from 450 to 640 in a day is nothing but devaluation, don't know what the apex bank is running away from.

Events of 2027 presidential election would be determined by performances of this current administration. Obi enjoy the wave of popularity, particularly in South south, south west and North Central, among Christians communities because of abysmal performance of Buhari/APC and Muslim- Muslim ticket.

If this administration perform very well, and the principle of federal character is strictly adherence to, he may not get upto 3 millions vote in 2027. Besides, the fear of voting any southerner who might probably be fighting to spend another 8 years after 4 years of Tinubu will work against any other candidate aside the president. Alot of power brokers will prefer Tinubu to spend 8 years and had the power to return to North than voting another southerner.

I’m surprised you still think Atiku will still have a chance at the PDP ticket at 81.

Meanwhile, I agree with you that Obi getting PDP ticket in 2027 will be suicidal as a lot of PDP stakeholders are harboring a lot of ill feelings towards him for contesting the 2023 elections against Atiku which they believe denied Atiku victory.

What I see happening however, is that some refined northerners in PDP who share Obi’s ideology might end up switching to Labour Party or working for Obi while in PDP having found out that Obi is a bigger force than they had reckoned him.

2. One way or the other, I just see LP working with some northern elements of PDP, and even Southern elements too, to have a go at the presidency again. Because as far as Obi remains in Labour Party, LP has more chance at the presidency than the PDP.

This is my practical analysis of realities on ground devoid of any sentiments informed by my support for Obi.

At the bolded, I have seen it a couple of times along with the phrase 'liberal Muslims from the North' alongside a few others and it literally is an insult, if a person has any tendency of working with you and you call him, you reduce the chances of such happening.

2. What you fail to understand and acknowledge is that by 2023, Tinubu's reign will be 4 years with the likelihood of another 4 years, if he performs as expected, no one will waste time supporting another southern candidate when he will present a political gambit by demanding 4 more years, will rather BAT for another 4 and even PDP will put all its strength into getting a strong, good northern candidate not worry about an election that gives it nothing but hype.
