The fact that someone has to ask this question shows how far religion has degraded free thought in this country. An offering is a voluntary donation. Simple. If you wish to break a large note into smaller denominations, that shouldn't be an issue because the church receives both small and large donations. It might just be appropriate to be organized about it. It would be quite inappropriate for someone to reach into the offering basket searching for smaller denominations in the name of change. The proper thing would be to ask an usher to help. That's one of their functions. |
Reference:My dear, you obviously don't understand my post. My point is that the press release is in bad faith because the dispute is of a private nature involving a branch of NUPENG- a branch, not the national body. How does that translate to something that should concern Nigerians? The National Industrial Court is there to ventilate employment disputes so what is so special in what their issue that they are involving Nigerians? Trade Unions are often antithetical to a growing capitalist economy. This is because they tend to act in the interest of a small section of an industry to the detriment of the entire industry. I'm not here to debate the merit or demerit of trade unions. I don't want fuel scarcity. These idiots are trying to start panic buying which will lead to scarcity. I hope you are not one of them. As for me, I'm not a fan. |
sexyanyabubakar:Thank you my sister... but I am also expecting an alert from the Abacha loot and Obj loot, please don't loot the loot. |
BeeBeeOoh:This is very disgusting reporting. How does the private transaction between a local zone of a Trade Union and an oil company involve the remaining 190 million Nigerians? The Reporter is obviously trying to create panic where none exists. Its a shame really and we should call out these idiots who deliberately mislead Nigerians for personal motives. |
Its not really a question of wrong or right, sin or virtue. It is more an issue of church policy, left to the church to determine for itself. On the part of the instrumentalist, if s/he plays in churches for a living, then s/he should look for employment in a church that pays instrumentalists. The fact that a person is a professional musician does not automatically entitle him or her to fees in exchange for service, those who make this argument simply want the benefit of a full time job and a part-time church gig. Bottom line is that if the church pays an instrumentalist or any other person, it creates an employee-employer relationship with the church. |
agabusta:You're right, its just that Judicial Bias is a double-edged sword. Like every human being, an unbiased Judge is likely to harbor some resentment after a strong allegation of bias, especially where the judge is found to be innocent. That subsequent implicit 'bias' will be the basis for frivolous appeal. The directive to reassign is to save the integrity of the judiciary, especially since the case is still in the preliminary stages. If he had taken his plea and trial had commenced, it would be a different thing. |
initiate:Great point! It takes some level of idiocy to memorialize such an episode... unless the cameraman was also a wedding crasher. |
See gobe! WhatI'm wondering is how she got that close to the couple. Its really sad but reason is often absent in matters of love and war. |
Whats your location? |
In 2018 ya doing convocation for 2015/2016... Na real wah. |

This is too bad. If this is true, it is a shame on the whole Nigerian Bar Association for a law maker to become a law breaker... |
The only people who truly benefit from real estate are real estate sellers and prospectors. Truth is Real Estate is a 'safe' bet, and the problem is there's no such thing as a 'sure thing'. |
A relationship expert with a history of divorce is a Divorce Expert and not a relationship expert. She shouldn't be referred to as a relationship expert. |
I think the tradition of meal-time prayers is to give thanks to God for provision. Its one way children can learn humility and appreciation. |
Opinionated:This is such a silly and simplistic analysis. Your salary is not a reflection of what you are worth. Young Nigerians should work to increase capacity and increase pay, thats how it works. If you divide your output, you wear yourself thin. That's why Nigerians are where we are today. Nobody is satisfied with their work. |
What happened to displaying the car papers ![]() |
Dpredictor:This is the problem with Nigerians today. 3 side hustles with mediocre input and poor returns. Why not face one side and become a master of one? The get-rich-quick syndrome will make you spread yourself so thin, you will not be effective at anything. If you want to do business, go and start business but don't be an employee and use the time, effort and resources of your employer to run other things, you fit see some change, but its wrong and counter-productive in the long run. Even Jesus said you can't serve 2 masters and love them equally, 1 must take priority, and now you want to serve 5 masters!!! Its what oyinbo call conflict of interest. You can call it slavery mentality. Don't do anything you can't put on a CV. The key to financial prosperity is putting your money to work without personal management, ie investing in the money market, or investing in a company, public or private that you can ensure will be run efficiently. Nigerian youth, let's get things right. |
Oga Rashidi, choose your battles. |
This is one of the problems with this country. Why the unnecessary publicity when the Bill has not been signed into law? The bill did not originate from the Senate, it was pushed by the Corporate Affairs Commission with the support of organizations like the Nigerian Bar Association. Now, with only 1 law, Senate wants to take glory that it does not have. Yeye dey smell. |
acunon:Great! Please do you have a mobile ac in the 1-1.5hp range? An Air Cooler is like a fan that blows air through a medium cooled by refillable cold water. |
I'm not one to bust anyone's hustle but all these cheap attempts for attention seldom end well. Did the people he took photos with know they were 'recognizing' him? I was excited by the title because i like to hear news of young Nigerians doing well but this is not it at all. Young Nigerians need to earn respect by working hard and working smart, any shortcut will cut you short. |
acunon:Hi Bro, do you sell air coolers? If so, what's your price range? |
Obi1kenobi:Interesting point. There are many factors responsible for high cost of living outside market forces (supply and demand). As a general rule, Nigeria has a housing deficit that is very obvious in city centers and urban areas. The Abuja phenomenon is nothing like what you think it is. Rent and property prices are not determined by actual market prices. Going by your HNI analysis, Lagos rates would be worse than Abuja but in Lagos, you find the good, bad and ugly. In Abuja, the prices do not reflect these realities (although the financial crunch is equalizing prices). My brother, forget that thing about concentration of HNIs in Abuja. A visit to the place will change your mind. |
This is a very suspicious story. The real question is where does the money go when it comes in? Most of the money that enters Abuja leaves almost right away. Most landlords live outside abuja, looters stash the funds outside the country, legislators take the money to their states, state officers also domesticate their share of the booty, federal agencies distribute the money based on federal character, meanwhile, civil servants are 'broke', the private sector is almost comatose, housing is a disaster, the number of poor and destitute citizens is increasing and one jackoby is saying yaya. Most of the money that enters Lagos stays in Lagos. It circulates, moves around a couple of times before it goes out. That is what creates prosperity. |
Right and wrong @op. The solution is not to register a business name because you will still be taxed on the income generated from the business. Tax is unavoidable... |
cheaphost:This statement shows that she's not sincere. This is obviously a PR stunt. She dived into his lane and drove into his car. The cars didn't collide, she drove into him. If the case is on appeal, she should be quiet until the appeal is determined. Doesn't she know that her conviction disqualifies her from contesting for political office? In fact, the Supreme Court hardly ever upturns two consecutive judgments of the trial court and court of appeal. If she is on bail, she should be quiet. We can only surmise that she intends to use political office to avoid prison or to get a payout. |
Fake news. Where is the substance in the story? No names, no references, only a blind claim based on anecdotal evidence. |
Madam wan sell book... nice strategy. These are not 'revelations' if she has penned them down in a book since. |
National Helm= Fake News |
Another example of a worthy cause championed in a bad case. An action brought by Originating Summons often borders on the interpretation of a statute or document. The only way a court would reverse the increase is if the Management did not comply with the provisions laid out in the enabling Act pertaining to fees. If the Management has complied with the law, then the increase is valid, and it would be a bad precedent for a Court to set school fees for the Management of the School. |
danilmo:I'm guessing you're still young and inexperienced in the ways of the world. Nigeria is not an el dorado. The economy is bad and it affects all professionals, that doesn't mean everyone should demand a hefty minimum wage. Going by your logic, Policemen should not give "best service". What of lawyers? Accountants? Engineers? Architects? We need to think deeply about these things. By the way, I use a private hospital. Many cannot afford it and they are the ones who suffer from strikes. Medical services are neither cheap nor free, doctors who choose to work in public hospitals know what they are getting into, just like lawyers who choose to work with Legal Aid or Office of the Public Defender. Why should the rest of us pay for their decisions? Shior. As for rude doctors, mek dem nor jam me for critical time. |
