OgaInnocent: ON SALARY:
I wouldn't comment on that because that is the business of the the govt. But let it be on record that if someone should complain of salary, it is the doctors. Nigerian Doctors cannot talk in the presence of their colleagues practicing abroad. They are the most underpaid persons with relation to the value offered. You can imagine the amount Canadian doctors are paid that made them to protest last time. An average consultant doctor in canada receives about 500,000 (about 180 million naira) dollars yearly. A consultant in nigeria is struggling with 10million naira yearly. Hence the reason 90% of Nigerian doctors are jetting out of the country, with many on the way out also. Even the few that are staying, are doing so, due to some supplementation coming from private practice. Otherwise, with the rate at which other countries are ready to issue visa to doctors, Nigeria may soon run out of doctors. Actually, Government has no business fixing salaries... that's why we're here in the first place. Salaries ought to be determined by market forces. Any intervention by government will create an artificial imbalance in the system and result in the situation in which we find ourselves- everyone will want a fixed salary. What happens when there isn't a market to support the fixed salaries? Doctors, Lawyers, Accountants, and the list goes on. Comparing Nigerian Doctors to Canadian Doctors is like comparing apples to oranges- its a false comparison because the systems are different. FYI, everyone is leaving- not only doctors. I understand that there is some social intervention in the Health Sector, but the practitioners cannot operate outside the system. Lawyers, Engineers and everyone else is poorly paid, and Government is not responsible- the economy is. That's why Doctors must stop this nonsense of going on strike and toying with the lives of the ordinary Nigerian. After all, the people who make these ridiculous policies also fly to Canada for treatment by Canadian doctors. |

Earthbound: This Nairaland account belongs to my alter ego. You might have seen him on some threads here in the comment section. Joblessness is what makes him on Nairaland most of the time, coupled with the fact that we both hate other forms of social media. Recently, we've submitted some applications online so as not to drown in unemployment.
Today, brothers and sisters, after receiving an email to an invite for an interview at a 'construction company', I was met with the shock of my life!
I boarded a bus from Opebi to Anthony, then to UPS bus top at Gbagada. I was running late. The 'interview' was slated for 9am and it was about 8:45am I found my way into the industrial estate stated on the address. I said to myself, 'how will your potential employers view this lateness, you don f up!' After asking around, I finally got the address. I received a call from the lady who invited me to the 'interview' asking where i was. I was elated! To cut the long story medium, I found myself in a crowded hall with certain people each screaming on top of their voices to small groups of people. As I looked around the hall knowing I've been scammed into wasting valuable transport fare, I found myself looking face to face with a huge poster that read 'Neolife' with GNLD written somewhere at the bottom corner. I felt h deeply betrayed.
Fast forward to a couple of minutes later, my 'sponsor' was screaming on top of her voice, made up acronyms of words like JOB, SALARY, etc. I was just devastated. If I'd allowed Earthbound out, He would have created a huge scene, so I had him suppressed.
At the seminar, the speaker went on and on about how messed up it is to be an employee and not a 'freelancer'. I wasn't buying it. If I'm selling someone else's product, network people, under the same product, I'm definitely working for whoever is paying me at the end of the day. Maybe he was making sense but I was just madly pissed I was basically lied to. I'm not one to build anything, a relationship, business, on a lie.
I would like to know if anyone here has experienced this kind of thing. It has to stop. How can you lie to get an unemployed person's hopes up in getting a job only for you to turn around and ask him/her to bring N13250 to register for network marketing? That's just pure evil.
God is watching you GDNL people.
Modified
Please if you have experience with this, please share their various methodologies and possibly addresses to help other job seekers. Thanks. I haven't said this in a long time... This is well written. I think the tone betrays your age bracket, but its always a breath of fresh air to read good stuff now and again. |

huxley: There was a video on YouTube featuring a British comedian called Ali G and the evangelical preacher Benny Hinn, in which Hinn tried to slay Ali G in the spirit right on stage in front of thousands ( now millions) . Everyone around Ali G fell to the ground except Ali G, who stood his ground. Hinn walked up to him and put his hand on G's forehead and push hard but G did not move. They were caught in a duel, with Hinn pushing and G resisting for about a minute. In the end Hinn gave up and walked away.
This was such bad publicity for the Hinn co-operation that he has had it censored from Youtube. But this was really good comedy. Could you please post a link to a story on this. Can't seem to find any on the internet. |

Why are we so greedy in this part of the world? Jesus said you can't serve 2 masters and love them equally. In the same vein, you can't have a side hustle and do well at your main job, one will suffer for the other. Its better to focus your energies on mastering whatever you are doing than laying yourself thin. Even shift work sef get as e be for naija. Any sensible employer who sees proof of moonlighting on a cv will definitely 'jump and pass', so where is the utility of doing runs? Unless your employer is aware, you are shortchanging him/her. This doesn't stop you from investing your money in business ventures or in a money/stock/commodities market. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Is It Good For Married People To Watch Porn? by Rainmaker69(m): 1:41pm On Mar 25, 2018 |
I hope OP is married. This issue is quite complex and may even require some practical experience. Sex and sexuality are topics that are treated with udue mystery, even among married folk in the church. The truth is that the bible doesn't provide express regulations for every possible sexual scenario. Yes, I know Jesus says not to look at a woman lustfully, but is there a context to that statement? What is the mens rea (the mental state of mind) Jesus referred to?. If we can have honest conversations about these issues, I'm sure we would avoid some needless divorces. Let's not be in a hurry to prescribe simplistic rules for the complex issues of our time. |

This is a brilliant move by the IG. Many people don't know this, but the IG has improved the quality of servic delivery and professionalism in the NPF. Many will be surprised to learn that a few Nigerian so-called VIPs enjoy more police protection than the entire population! This is even worse because we don't have enough Police in the country. Great move. The Police are paid from the commonwealth, they should not be pimped out to private citizens. |

I have a credit limit. And i return quarterly.(Every 90 days or so.. i am charged for repayment)
Do not argue what you do not know. My card clearly states CREDIT NOT DEBIT(I have a Debit Card too) Forget the nomenclature bros, why you wan carry last na? If you like, call it HEAVEN ENTRANCE CARD, it won't take you to heaven. Don't forget that Nigerian Banks once referred to Debit Cards as 'Credit' Cards until CBN intervened. Nigeria doesn't operate a Credit Banking System, please look for the fine print of your 'Credit' Card and read it again, what you have is an overdraft facility on your account. First Bank, Diamond, GTB... all na overdraft. As long as the CBN Act has not been amended, and BOFIA and the Insurance Act (for starters) are unchanged, we cannot operate a credit system. As long as CBN still interferes in market operations including interest rates, forex, etc, Banks cannot sell real credit. Plus there are several other support industries that must thrive for a stable credit system to exist. |

Greene66: I have gtb credit card bros.. We don't operate credit banking bros. What some commercial banks do is give advance or overdraft... its miles apart from a credit system. You need some basic laws to operate a credit system, and we haven't scratched the surface. |
