That's exactly my question. Why can't they plan on upgrading all those polytechnics to university? Or merge them with universities close to them. It's crazy investing in polytechnics, when many countries are converting theirs to full fledge universities.

It begins to weaken me the kind of huge value we place on all these universities in Nigeria. Common virtual class has become a big deal for these institutions. Why are we like this in Nigeria? Who did we offend that placed a curse on us?

U're very much right. What is most important about ur account is the inflow and outflow of cash. It is majorly blue collar jobs. If what u're looking for is white collar jobs, managerial positions, corporate jobs and so on, u won't easily get that for many reasons. I think I will find time to talk about this in details.

That's not what we're saying, if u want to prove a point, prove it with real facts, not following politicians dogmatically. They themselves know they've drowned the economy with their crazy policies, that's why they're stylishly reversing from them. This thing is common sense, u don't close border on essential items u can't make enough provision for locally. This is Nigeria for crying out aloud, the population is too huge to commit its rice demand into the hands of few farmers who are not technologically equipped to handle the demand. I support border closure on items which government has made enough provision for, say for the next 3 years, within three years, before the stock runs out, the local production would have taken over. Planning before launching into action.

But since border closure on some products to give way for local production, has anything changed? U don't put the cart before the horse in the name of support for local manufacturers. U know how many farmers that lost their lives right on the farm. The farm is not safe for any farmer. Right now, majority of this so called farmers have turned to okada riders in the city, when the farm is no longer safe for farming.

The topic/thread reminds me of what my father said to me 2 or 3 years ago.

He asked me if I had a man or serious relationship in my life at the time. I said not really because the guy I was dating then was speaking one kind of spanish I didn't like or understand. Dude was talking about having 4 kids.

When my dad heard this he laughed and said two kids are more than enough in this age and time, things are not going to get better in our country or the world at large. Children are also going to be more stubborn and difficult to manage, than ever before. Coming from a man who had seven kids of his own, I didn't doubt him at all. Now look at what's happening in our country not just with SARS protests, but the economy and polity as a whole.
