'Mentrix' - it means madness. 'Staunch' - a man who has money or something of high quality. |
'Kpuf' - it means to die. 'Kpakam' - full-stop. You have said it all. |
bennygreat1: Mi na soft warri boi... N uWarri...born and raised! |
'Okpkpais doings' - activities or actions typical of a witch. 'Coti' - it means police. |
bennygreat1: Learn with thisGuy, you be Warfi? |
The purpose of this thread is to share those slang that are commonly used in your town so that others here would learn and know what they mean when they hear them somewhere, or when they visit your town, communicating with the people there wouldn't be a problem. There is nothing like visiting a place and blending with the peeps through language and communication. I be proper Warri guy so I go start with these: 'Kparo kparo' - it can be used to refer to either a girl who is from a poor family that depends on men for material things or a guy who doesn't have money and depends on friends to survive. 'Paro' or 'paraceed' - to be annoyed extremely. 'Pompu' - it means navel or belly button. 'Kpameki' - a loose girl. 'Oshere' - it is used to refer to one's girlfriend. 'Akpash' - strong drink such as local gin. 'You nor know the story?' - it means you should know everything and how it is done. It is actually a rhetorical question. I will post more... Let them roll in. Mods pls, you know what do to. Let's learn! |
goalburner: bro pls try the spanish babes, they are d best as far as i knw for nw cos am currently on one.Lol |
blaxx: That jam was cool. The chorus ws off tha chain.Bro, am glad you know the song. |
Good evening, Nairalanders! After doing a thorough research online (Wikepedia), I discovered that majority of the citizens in Scandinavian countries (Denmark, Sweden and Norway) don't believe that God exist. Now, who do they pray to since they don't even hold the opinion that there is a spirit who controls the world? Many citizens in these countries don't even belong to any religion! Let's look at their economies. It is pertinent to note that these countries have some of the strongest economies in the world. They live in peace and the average citizens lives very fine and is comfortable. What about Nigerians? They say we are the most religious people on planet earth. We pray heaven and earth everyday, yet our economy is among the worse in the world. Does it mean God has refused to help us? He doesn't exist? Or we are just deceiving ourselves by all these religions we follow? Please, the religious experts in the house are cordially invited... |
Orikinla: You just made my day. Thanks bro. This thread was inspired by what happened recently. I was playing 'Oh Girl' by Paul Wall when a friend of mine told me to stop the 'rubbish' song. He said he couldn't figure out what the song is all about. He finally asked me to play 'Dorobucci'! I told him that his brain has been eaten so deep by the mediocre songs we hear everyday in naija. |
We have given up on MOST naija babes ![]() |
icekidgodfrey: That's about it. Erriga is like the only name that comes to mind when you talk of the 'Nigerian Hip-hop' the way he uses the pidgin and yoruba is a total knock-off! He still got fans bro, the thang is... Lot of people aint gonn digg your music, but at the end of the day you're still doing somethang you love. I'm like a hiphop head, and I think you don't have to go all hardcore if u need Nigeria to patronize you; remember the female folk is the target. Talk about people doing hiphop in Nigeria imma stick with mode9, a lot of people don't even know or understand sh!t he does, but he still does it... Man its for the love of it, it gets to the people who know its value. Remember some really talented artistes put a bit of that 'Nigerian-music' flavour to hiphop; thereby gettin to almost everybody out there people like Vector,Sinzu, Ruggedman...I dey feel you sha...you make sense ![]() |
iyabodeh: nigga puhlease!!! Why would I steal a 1k note from a guy I met at a 'bukataria'? I would take it and top up the credit on my phone, right there and then. And you are crying blue-murder because of 1k.Naija guys are stingy? What about naija girls? When last did you help ur bf with funds? Anyway, I love those legs of yours...that's if they are really yours ![]() |
plaetton: And I thought I was the only that noticed that nowadays , Nigerian musicians lack musical talent to start with, and make no effort at producing music. All they produce is noise pollution, as far as I am concerned.Abeg help me tell them. |
redsun: Who said i am not a father?Morality is not in words, but by actions. By their fruits,ye shall know them. What do you call action? When you use corrupt words always to describe a woman's anatomy and show this in your video, does that not amount to action? |
redsun: What is good about a generation that loots its society dry?A generation that build good schools for children, can't maintain good roads or constant electricity? You might not be a father now, but sooner or later, you will. Will you still say 'morality ur as.s then? |
GreenBobo: May your wife give birth to tripletsWhat you guys are looking at is just the money these folks make. What about the social damage? I bet you, if Edna Ogoli, Raskimono or Isaac Black did songs like this, our generation would have been worse! |
klodike: Yeah!!! Jst like one clown who said nyansh no get teeth but e dey cut shit. LmsaoIt should be no other person but Erriga! There are ways of talking about women without being unnecessarily dirty, has anyone figured the reason why 2face's songs don't stop to 'reign'? Play African Queen anywhere, peeps will still nod their heads and dance. Listen to songs like 'Cry' by Modenine, 'Hope' by Twista and Faith Evans, 'Airplane' by Bobby. These are classics. In the next 2 months, you won't hear of Timaya's 'Ukwu' but peeps will still feel his 'Ogologomma' and 'True Story' till only-God-knows. |
voltron: Sexxxy sells faster than church and require less hardworkAre we really looking at the social havoc it causing or we just enjoy these beats after taking countless bottles of beer? Go to primary schools and see how the kids are so obsessed with immoral lyrics and sex. There is a school close to my house where a pupil in pry 4 was punished severely for making a cartoon of a lady, half naked with big as.s and he titled it 'caro'. Where did the inspiration come from? That same child will sit for Common Entrance and fail woefully! |
RayCharles: How many pple you bless that ow u measure sucess- Robert Leonard William a.k.a Rick RossYou see! But they say these peeps sing trash! In their nonsense, they still make sense. Such lines hardly come across the heads of our artistes. |
Mention: Charity begins at home....A child that is up to 10 is more influenced by what he or she hears/sees than the family. I am a social scientist, with all humbleness. |
Okijajuju1: It's all about Beemer, Benz and Bentley hommie..So how many tracks in those albums talk about sex and weed? |
brownlord: Make sense story, you conveyed food, and yet went to buy food in buka on Sunday morning. If you took food to thanks giving yet the people could not serve you before leaving the house....see your life?I no blame you. Small pikin wey no know ogogoro go call am water. |
ACM10: Nonsense! I guess you are not a fan of foreign hip hop. Have you bothered to listen to Lil Wayne's "lollipop" feat Kanye West?Peeps like you listen to songs without understanding them! |
If truth be told, naija songs have succeeded in commercializing relationship and romance to a great extent. How can you be talking continually about spending your all and all on women? What do you expect them to do when they hear such? |
icekidgodfrey: Altered caption, you the wrong audience reading the trend. When I saw 'Hiphop' I thought it was like real hiphop in Nigeria... Better yet, stick to what it should be; you're writing about 'Nigerian Music', I really think that gotta be a different genre. You talked about real hiphop. Yes! So how many peeps will buy if one does real hiphop you talked about without involving trashy words? The shallow minds of most listeners won't allow them to buy it. Someone should please, tell me what Erriga is singing? |
RebelLeader15: Even Prophet Fela Anikulapo Kuti sef sing about yanchIf na dis kind of fathers we go get in the nearest future, then Olorun save us! And u be choir master for your church o! |
Mention: Even in d days of Fela there were dull students and people complained of poor standard of education then... Things would only get worse.. Don't blame the students, their society made them what they are..I am not saying the average Nigerian student is dull because of naija songs. What am saying is that the contents of these songs act as a source of distraction for these students. The total behaviour of a child has something still to do with what he/she listens to. |

Ademolapaul: are u promoting him?Nah, am just giving him the rep for his high intellectual capacity. Na better tomatoes dey sell imself for market ![]() |
apexviper: xo au abt d foreign musicians wu talks abt pussy ,aving ,sex nd d likes.bro, hip hop iz lyk dat nau, only few ppl av actuali gat musical talentsLeave peeps like 2chainz and likes out of this. They are just like few trees in a forest. As immoral as you might think 50 cents or Lil Wayne is, they still talk sense. Listen to their albums. Can you say that about naija artistes? An artiste releases an album and almost all the tracks talk about butts and bosoms! Common, what are you saying? ![]() |
Mention: YES!!! Because those are what our youths focus on...And that's why the average Nigerian student is dull. Nothing intellectual in what they listen to. |
