bamasite:I like that quote by Leland. |

[quote author=GoldenSpine24 post=59044139]So like all these, religion should shape our thoughts. Man invented religion and not the other way round. The rational mind should not be caged by religious hopes. |

GoldenSpine24:There are things common sense should be able to prove to us. Our brains are powerful; we should think and act positively. This should show us why some countries are more advanced than others even with little or no resources. We should learn from the Japanese. Would you think that it was Bhudda that gave Japan technological advancement? ![]() |

Are Africans Worshipping A 'White God'? Two days ago, Sunday 30th July, 2017 to be precise, I was watching a programme on Dove Tv, Channel 83 on Gotv. A religious leader was speaking. Though, I am not a religious enthusiast, I still listen to and watch religious programmes, download religious write-ups online and read books that cut across different religions. During the programme, the religious leader, with the most aggressive form of authority I have seen, emphasized countless times that people should call on the Holy Spirit to give them money, including anything they want in life. He maintained that whoever wants billions should call on the Holy Spirit and it shall be done. In his words: 'Just say Holy Spirit, I need billions, and you will get it'. I got fed up when people started calling in to receive prayers from this very religious leader. It now downed on me why we are still crawling behind in education, technological advancement and overall development in this part of the world. Does this not amount to magic? Even the magician in 'Aladin' will marvel at such magic! One problem most of us face in this part of the world is the fact that we have decided to subject ourselves to shallow unnecessary religious beliefs. These beliefs have shaped our mentality to an extent where most people now place their successes in life on images and hopes created by scam men and women that have no substantial proofs to back up their reliability other than baseless hopes, hopes and nothing but hopes! Most Africans have been brainwashed to believe that a supreme being sits somewhere who solves all kinds of problems, even those that require simple human effort. Maybe we should also wait for this god to cook Egusi soup, make eba for us and place them on the table for us to eat because we are hungry. It is clearly an irony that in a society where many people will easily believe scam men and women who give them false hopes will still have many pitifully poor wretched folks who can barely feed themselves! It is mostly our belief on these baseless hopes that has continued to shut us out of advancement. I am very sure citizens in Canada, Sweden, Britain or Australia did not stamp their feet on the ground ferociously with water canes, and loud shouts that the Holy Spirit should give them security, organised socio-economic system and technological advancement. If you should know, the government of Poland spends a percentage of its annual revenue on carrying out research alone. Such efforts bring advancement in the economy of a country and this reflects on the lives of the citizens. If we apply that to our individual lives, it should translate to self development. That is what I mean, not false and baseless hopes that are not different from a mere abracadabra!!! In a country where education is very low and poverty is very high, con men and women will not cease to amaze me; they are ready to employ all manner of methods, even using ojuju calabar method to trick the gullible. I have said it countless times that CRK and IRS are not relevant in our school curriculum. As things are going in this country, they lack the capacity to move us forward. These subjects should be replaced with subjects that can offer practical knowledge to pupils/students. Same old stories we have heard countless times since the entry of the British and the Arabs are still the same stories we are being fed with on daily basis! If a child in Africa can be born into poverty, war and starvation, what hell does he/she need to go again if he/she does not comform to accepted religious doctrines as painted by the whites? It surely means we are worshipping a 'white God'. |
sarrki:Shut ur trap there!!! |
Benita27:Search your soul. Why do most Nigerian ladies enter into relationships if not for financial gains? Save your opinion for the timid! |
Jodha:Thanks |
Safiaa:Thanks all the same. |
Jodha:You didn't even pass a message across! I would have ignored your post but for the sake of putting some sense into you. Now listen, if you have a contrary opinion, express it intelligently and in a mature way and stop making a fool of yourself. |
pocohantas:It has been said severally that guys who are broke shouldn't bother about romantic affairs. Many guys who are not financially stable these days don't even give a hoot about relationships because they know the situation but that's for another day. What I'm trying to say is that whoever that's ready to enter a romantic affair, not a platonic one, should be ready to dance to the music. No be fight my sister. If a girl wants a no-sex affair, she should look for a celibate or eunuch! Someone who has agreed to live that type of life too. U cannot force a full fledged sexually active man to become a eunuch because that is what you want. Annoyingly, most of these folks ain't even virgins. |
Silentscreamer:Sex is a human act. Abstaining from it does not define a real man. |
HannahHitler:Really? So how many of the guys that slept with her in the past put a ring on her finger? |
Silentscreamer:You call it ranting? So you dream on the Internet? Is this not a case of pot calling kettle black? One who depends on offering sex to sustain and one who gives out the resources and accept the offer, are they not all in the gutter? |

First, I am not using this post to say that ladies who desire a no-sex relationship are wrong or are committing a crime. Everyone has the right to decide what idea they feel is right for them or not. Morally and spiritually speaking, any girl who feels that she doesn't want to have sex till she's married has not committed a crime; it's not out of place. The foundation on which this idea is mostly built on by many young women is where the problem lies. Romantic affairs are nothing but romantic affairs! They involve romance and I believe everyone reading this post knows what romance is. What romance is, is what romantic relationships entail. Let it not be as if we are still in primary school, learning life basics. Romantic relationships are not just for kneeling down to pray together, playing ten-ten, ludo, kalokalo or suwe. It involves things that are done behind closed doors. If a girl doesn't want sex in a relationship, she should ask herself first what type of relationship she's into. If it's not a platonic or brother/sister relationship, then she better stay off romantic affairs until she's ready to marry!!! You own your body as a girl but don't try to turn a full grown sexually active man to a celibate or eunuch because that is what you desire in a ROMANTIC AFFAIR! If he wants sex and you don't, kindly tell him your principle and move on. As a young woman, you don't need to cry while trying hard to convince him that he should not 'touch' you. If he doesn't 'touch' you, who will he touch? Won't he touch somebody outside? Will that not make rubbish of your relationship?Young ladies who don't want sex in romantic affairs should stay off or look for a celibate who can dance to their tune. After all, most girls have made it a culture not to give anything else in a relationship other than sex. Being that the average African man gives virtually everything, his time, resources, energy including his soul in relationships, what do you, as young women expect him to gain when most of you cannot offer anything other than sex? He won't take that gladly knowing fully well that you are trying to withhold the only thing he knows he can gain from you! If I meet a girl who says she wants a no-sex affair, I should be able to see tangible things I can gain from the relationship. Being a demanding girl in a no-sex affair should be a suicide attempt in relationship. I might not be too kind with idealism; romantic affairs involve SEX! Even if you go to Madagascar, Norway, Bolivia or Czech Republic, it's the same thing. If you cannot withstand the hotness of the kitchen, stay off the kitchen! |
gypsey:Lols! U funny ![]() |

ProWalker:You are seriously sick!!! I'm sure you still stay with your poor parents and feed on their meagre resources, else you starve to death! Instead of addressing the problem that has befallen you and your lots, you come online to rant because you were able to borrow 30MB data from some network providers! I pity you, your case has gone beyond remedy! |
