LOL, most of these religious folks are out of touch with reality. Their answer to everything is that you can't question God's agenda.

When you backed them into a corner, they would used the allegory excuse, etc.

The one that said that God invented modern technology before Adam and Eve got me cracking up. The guy was obviously on a weed trip(I promptly ignored all his subsequent posts).

He conveniently forgot that before Galileo debunked that claim, that the Roman Catholic church(which represented Christianity in those era), believed that Sun and in fact the whole universe revolves around the earth, earth being flat, etc. They hated technology and progress with passion, because it threatened their belief.

Like you mentioned earlier, they kill anybody that dare to challenge their faith.(Galileo met the same fate, btw).

Why?

Simply, because it's what the bible made them to believe.

They were only being good Christians.

Nothing wrong, mate.

You are a deist, not a pagan.

Hopefully, one day you will come to realise that the idea of God's existence is just imaginary, and join the ever growing throng of free-thinkers(Atheism)

Cheers!

You are no better than him by using such vulgar word.

Ain't the Christians suppose to lead by example? Or is it just a state of convenience?

Your God will smite you first of all, for embarrassing him like this, assuming that he's real, before doing anything else.
Christianity EtcRe: Another Christian Fallacy. by RayMcBlue(op):
Uyi Iredia: Literal or not it was mistake. I told you why: the sun does appear to move and even now we wrongly say the sun rises which isn't true. There are also many stories in the Bible that teach moral lessons despite being fabulous and there are stories which don't make as much strange claims eg the story of Ruth, the story of the Israelies kings and the story of Nehemiah amongst others.
At least, you agreed with me that the bible can be 'full of it' sometimes. wink

jassie: That's the problem. For you to change your email, you'll need to login to the old email account to confirm the authorization. In this case, that old email is no longer valid. . . so I can't confirm the email change.

I'd appreciate something like a master reset of some sort. . .
I don't think so...

From what I could make out of this email change, you don't need to touch or login to your old email, rather you simply input the new one in the first box and then the confirmation box and click change email

Then go to the mail box of the new email you just inputed and view the verification message.

But first of all you must be logged in on Nairaland with your valid username for all this to work.

Hmnn...

At the end of the day, Religion is not the factor, rather, WMD(weapon of mass destruction) is the real factor.

Beyond Iran's secretive nuclear efforts, massive stockpiles of nuclear weapons around the globe could wreak destruction if they were to get into the wrong hands

Debroslink: Do u know that there is a difference between the earth and the world? And that the earth is older than the world?
Earth is sometimes referred to as the Blue Planet, by its Latin name, Terra, or by an even more intriguing name, Gaia. But people most commonly refer to Earth as the world.

World is a much more complex concept; just take a look at the definitions offered by Merriam-Webster. These definitions tend to focus on two things: Earth and living things,
particularly people.

In other words, the word 'world' tends to focus more on life. You might think of the world as the planet Earth seen through living things eyes. Of course, the two words overlap and can mean pretty much the same thing, depending on the context in which they’re used.

Alfa Seltzer: That is a good example of problems that stem from generational gap and why old and young people don't seem to be able to work well togethr because they don't understand each other.
Maybe, generational gap is not really the bone of contention, rather a plain desire to be mischievous.

Alfa Seltzer: The older folks are wondering why on earth someone should be going around repeating "end time tinz" over and over again. He gets annoyed and admonishes the young one who on his side wonders whatever is wrong with old people that can't understand his world and his own idea of fun.
Some of those pranksters are 'older folks' that are trying to cope with boredom. Illiteracy and ignorance also play a big part in it.

You made sense though.

Uyi Iredia: No, I meant Joshua made a mistake.
I don't think so. The bible certainly doesn't think so, and neither did Joshua.

I'm pretty sure that when he made that statement, he meant it in a literal manner.

Just like the bible claim that man is made of clay in a literal manner.

Certainly, the bible is full of fantastic tales and claims that have no credibility in the modern world.

Logicboy03: I seriously disagree with your spirituality but this comment is the plain truth. Some atheists just leave chrisyianity and islam then they think that it is over. They dont take time to study other religions and traditions.

I am not a spritual or religious person but at least, i can discuss with poeple from many religions because i took ime to read the basic things about them. Knowledge frees people

Also, we should learn from the Japanese. They are mostly atheists but they respect their budfhist or shinto heritage.

It is a shame that some atheists are looking at paganism from an xtian point of view. No p, respect your culture or at least make money from it to feed your people. Do you know how much Buddhist temples make from tourism.......white people would pay tosee or study our cultural idols and shrines.
You made a lot of sense.

Maybe I was a little hasty in dismissing of the pagans.

Uyi Iredia: The sun's motion was apparent. Even till date, we make the mistake of saying the sun rises and sets, never mind the metaphor. Joshua's error was unintended.
The same old excuses and tactics of yore...

When backed into a corner, just claim Allegory.

Christianity EtcRe: 10 Questions For Religious Folks. by RayMcBlue(op):
No way.

At the beginning there is no time, no space, just a positive quantum state waiting for something to occur. And occur it did... don't know why, that's the big theoretical physics question of the age - if you can answer that you will probably win a nobel prize and do TV chat shows for the rest of your life, dying very rich indeed!

However once "it" did happen we start to be able to understand what is going on. In fact physicists have got a reasonable idea of what was happening in the universe in a
billionth of a second after it was created!

The first thing to occur was space being created moving forever outward at the speed of light. As this occurs space and time separate out from an intertwined state into their different domains and from
this point on the arrow time forever ticks forward.

In this super hot new born universe, not yet a billionth of a second has gone by. It has no matter at all, just searingly high temperature radiation seething in an opaque white space. Then changes begin to occur as the expansion continues towards a millionth of a second.

As the universe pushes itself outward, the
overall temperature begins to drop exponentially. (like if you spill a very hot cup of coffee, the spilt contents cool far quicker all spread out on the floor than they would in the mug) At some point the first sub-atomic particles begin to coalesce out of the radiation.

Matter is now distinguishable from energy. Neutrinos, quarks, mesons and baryons begin to swim around in the still opaque white space. The temperature drops even further to a balmy 100 billion degrees after a second of time has gone by. The first protons neutrons and electrons begin a long process of formation and annihilation.

After a few minutes the temperature has dropped to a billion degrees. The universe is now many millions of miles wide yet we are still to see even the first atoms form.

Gravity begins to make itself felt for the first time. After 300,000 years. Finally atoms begin to form. The first elements
freely exist: mostly hydrogen with a trace amount of helium and maybe even a whiff of lithium.

Also around this time space finally becomes darker and darker until it finally becomes the familiar black. By 500,000 years the first giant stars are shining and gravity is now the dominant force acting on matter in the universe. The expansion rate increases, and continues to do so until the present day.

What this tries to illustrate is that the big bang didn't explode into anything. Beyond it's frontiers was a void without time or space.

That isn't to say that the big bang didn't have a cause which created it. String theory and various others attempt to explain what might have pre-existed to explain the events leading to our universe's creation but such concepts currently exist only in mathematical form.

It could be our universe was just created out of the collapse of an earlier universe. Maybe we're inside a giant black hole in a "parent" giant universe. Maybe we're part of a supra-dimensional network of infinite universes endlessly being created and destroyed.

Who knows?

I know you are not Tribal from your post and I did not have to search far to prove it. Either that or you have no Tribal feeling. Assuming that I'm not tribal is not only irrelevant but wrong.

I dont depend on a pagan. I make allies wink

Modern paganism is far more humanistic than Abrahamic religions.
I meant defend. And who needs allies, certainly not a paganistic one. They may taint the whole concept of atheism with their crazy ideologies. angry

@bold, Modern Christianity is also humanistic.

Paganism is not meant to evolve, so the concept of a 'Modern Paganism' is null and void.
