Yoruba never said UK, America, Europe, Asia, Australia are curse. So they can go there. But if they do say those places are cursed, then they shouldn't have gone there. You people are the most confused tribe in the world. You shout, the north are is cursed, the west is cursed but you can't do without going to the cursed region. Don't you see how pathetic your tribe is. You now look foolish to yourselves. Loot their properties, what properties cheesy, Is it a 4 by 4 kiosk you call property. I have never seen any igbo leaving the west and Yoruba blocked road for. In fact, one that relocated back home last, when he wanted to forget his slippers, I was the one that reminded him of his slippers and helped put it in the lorry so that he doesn't forget a pin. So what property are you talking about? Rival who, who is in rivalry with less people. Are we like you people that always try to measure up to us?
Ur comments make me want to talk.U denied property looting by ur people. What a pity. What a pity! A pity that u could tell a low story about the Igbos in ur place. Why could u be so ungrateful to some that pay house and shop rent to u always. Some that u go to for rent in advance whenever someone dies u run to him for money. When u want to do naming u run to him for money. He pays u 7 years advance because u want money to feed ur family. Why could u be so ungrateful to them. Have u thought of the 1,000s of agbero and area father on the Igbos pay roll who make a living for them and their family through owo ile, load carriers, etc. What about the women that make living from the things that comes from the imported contaniers.Ah!u r very ungrateful. What about ur women who beg them for money, some of who they r training their families.Even ur Obas get their livings from this Igbos.Oh! u r very very ungrateful.U see,ur ungratefulness make them progressive than u ppl.well i dont need to talk with u bc ur elders know what they get from them and u can see how they r always cooperating with them.I know the huge number of ur ppl my father feed in Mushin Olorushogo.I know hw they come every morning for money.Pls i cant say somethings here because it is needless and some of u ppl's attitude can nt provoke one to descend low like u ppl.As a capitalist i will always pamper u.

Mumu, what property are you talking about? . Don't you want to leave a cursed region to your own blessed region according to your evil mind? Do you have shame at all? To me, anywhere that I know Is cursed, I won't step my foot there. And you never answered my question, if your region is not cursed, as in if your region are so blessed, then what curse is pushing you people away from your region to a region that is cursed. O want be surprised, since you are igbo, the foolish tribe(nwazuruke) and lazy thinker(nwosu).
Who is talking of cursed region. What sense does it make to u?What is the argument in it?That Nigerians should not travel round their country and invest? You r making no sense. Is like telling Yorubas to leave UK or Hausa Fulanis not to travel to Suadi Arabia. In fact what u r saying makes no sense. But aside that you people always look chicken any time u say d Igbos must leave ur palce and when u start looting their properties or when u can not rival them u weep up ethnic or religious sentiment.
PoliticsRe: Obafemi Awolowo’s Mercedes Benz Used For His Presidential Campaigns by reality1010: 10:30pm On Apr 20, 2018
autojosh:
Obafemi Awolowo was a Nigerian nationalist and political leader. He played very important roles in Nigeria’s quest for independence. He also played key parts in the First and Second Republics.

He was the first premier of the Western Region and later federal commissioner for finance. He was also the Vice Chairman of the Federal Executive Council during the Gowon administration.

He was also the official Leader of the Opposition in the federal parliament to the Tafawa Balewa government from 1959 to 1963.

https://i64.tinypic.com/aucthc.jpg

The man was a man of many firsts. For instance, He was the first Leader of Government Business and Minister of Local Government and Finance, and first Premier of the Western Region under Nigeria’s parliamentary system, from 1952 to 1959.

On three occasions, Awolowo made attempts at the country’s presidency.

Much of the progressive social legislation that has made Nigeria a modern nation is credited to him.

In recognition of all these, Awolowo was the first individual in the modern era to be named “Leader of the Yorubas” (Asiwaju Awon Yoruba or Asiwaju Omo Oodua).

On 9 May 1987, he died at his Ikenne home. He was aged 78.

A part of his Ikenne home, the Efunyela Hall, was made a museum to commemorate the life and times of this sage. His widow, H.I.D Awolowo, commissioned the museum on August 4, 1989.

Part of the items on display in the museum is an eight-sitter grey Mercedes 230.6.

The Mercedes Benz was used by Awolowo to travel across the country during his electioneering campaign in 1979 and 1983. The car was bought in 1970.

PoliticsRe: Muslim Group Seeks Withdrawal Of 'jonathan's N100 Note' From Circulation by reality1010: 10:07pm On Apr 18, 2018
Onechancearmy:
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has asked the federal government to withdraw the N100 note from circulation over what it described as “the removal of the Arabic Ajami sign from the currency by the administration of former president of Goodluck Jonathan in 2014.

In a statement released on Tuesday by the Director of MURIC, Prof Ishaq Akintola, the group condemned the action of the former president, saying that the removal of the sign was a major failure of his administration.

https://mahfouzadedimeji.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/A-don-and-the-Director-of-Muslims-Rights-MURIC-Prof.-Ishaq-Lakin-Akintola-560x623.jpg

While describing the new note released by the Jonathans administration in 2014 as inferior, MURIC called for the reinstatement of the Arabic Ajami and the withdrawal of the N100 and N200 notes printed during Jonathan’s regime

The statement read, “The administration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan officially issued the N100 commemorative centenary banknote on 19th December 2014. A major feature of that banknote was the removal of Arabic Ajami.

“Nigerians consider Jonathan’s N100 note inferior to others printed earlier. It is of very low quality. It tears easily. It lacks second-hand value. It grows soft and fragile with time, thereby making it difficult to handle or fold in people’s pockets or wallets. It has therefore failed as a veritable means of exchange. Placed side by side with the old N100 note which still has the Arabic Ajami inscription and which is still in circulation, Jonathan’s N100 shrinks into oblivion.

“The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) is constrained to affirm that Jonathan’s N100 note is a fiscal embarrassment, a huge disappointment and a colossal waste of the nation’s scarce resources. Three and a half years on, Jonathan’s N100 note has qualified for the worst banknote ever printed in Nigeria. It is a national disgrace. This banknote should be withdrawn from circulation.

“It is not too difficult to guess what went wrong. Jonathan was blinded by his anti-Arabic sentiment that he ignored quality control measures. His only concern was to implement the hate agenda of a few anti-Muslim elements who are bent on eliminating all vestiges of Islam from the Nigerian environment.

“It was not the first time this would happen. Arabic inscriptions which have always been on Nigerian currency since independence were unceremoniously removed in 2005 from N5, N10, N20 and N50 denominations during the reign of Olusegun Obasanjo. It must be noted that there has been surreptitious pressure from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for the removal of Arabic from the naira.

“But Nigerians need to know that this move was calculated to hurt the Muslim population and may end up as a disservice to the nation. The average Northerner cannot read any other script except in Arabic Ajami and anyone who wants to communicate with him effectively must use the Ajami, not even writings in the Hausa language can help in this matter. Millions of Northerners have therefore been marginalized by removing the Arabic Ajami from Jonathan’s poor quality N100 note and Obasanjo’s N5, N10, N20 and N50 denominations.

“The removal of Arabic Ajami is being interpreted as an attempt to discourage the learning and use of Arabic language which is the language of the Glorious Qur’an. It is a sensitive religious matter. Nobody can do this in Nigeria and expect the Muslims to organize a carnival for him. But as usual, our leaders manifest the noun ‘deaf’ and the verb ‘to ignore’.

“MURIC complained in 2005 when Obasanjo removed Arabic Ajami from new naira notes. The fact that Jonathan repeated the same thing has raised concern among Muslims. Why does Arabic always become the victim any time a Christian becomes president? It means that there is a conspiracy to gradually and tactically eliminate Arabic Ajami. It is only logical to expect the removal of Arabic from other notes when another Christian becomes president.

“When shall we three meet again? In thunder, lightning and rain?’ When will these conspirators descend on the remaining notes which still has Arabic Ajami on them: N100, N200, N500 and N1,000? Should we expect the removal of Arabic Ajami from these remaining denominations when another Christian becomes president? Is it ‘when the hullybully is done and gone?’ Or is it ‘when the battle is lost and won?’ It looks very much like an agendum continuum.

“Currencies worldwide are designed to suit each nation’s culture and history. Incidentally, Nigeria is a multireligious entity. In this case, therefore, our cultural and religious homogeneity should be the criteria, particularly when designing our banknotes, our stamps, etc.

“But these two Christian presidents (Obasanjo and Jonathan) failed in this onerous task. They retained the English letters, which symbolize Christianity and removed the Arabic Ajami which stands for Islam. It is simply bad leadership. They allowed sectional interests to override their avowed neutrality. What else is ethnic cleansing? We are all taxpayers and to that extent we all deserve representation.

“For the avoidance of doubt, we as Muslims are ready and willing to peacefully coexist with our Christian neighbors, but on equal terms. It must be with the proviso: ‘live and let live’. No more, no less. We believe that the religion of the president is of little consequence so long as he is fair to all. We will always address issues, not primordial sentiments and, by the way, our Arabic is very dear to us. It is tangential, not peripheral.

“In conclusion, MURIC demands the withdrawal of Jonathan’s N100 note from circulation and the reinstatement of Arabic Ajami on N200, N500, and N1,000 denominations. We affirm that Jonathan’s N100 note was a scam. We, therefore, call for a probe. We warn against any attempt by any future Nigerian leader to remove Arabic Ajami from the few remaining denominations. We will not hesitate to deploy every constitutional means at our disposal to stop such an attempt now or in future.”

PoliticsRe: Igbos Are As Disunited As Nigerian Youths - Tony Momoh by reality1010: 10:03pm On Apr 18, 2018
nairavsdollars:
Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

Prince Tony Momoh, a former Minister of information and a national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has given reasons why it will be difficult for Igbos to attain the presidency in Nigeria, citing disunity and their preference for supporting the candidates with huge financial chests during election.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with DAILY INDEPENDENT on why it has been difficult for the Igbos to produce a president since 1999, Momoh said one of the problems facing the Igbo is their inability to be united and queue behind one single candidate for presidential election.
He gave an instance of what happened in 2003 when the late Chuba Okadigbo, who was President Muhammadu Buhari’s running mate in the 2003 presidential election, visited Igbo leaders in Lagos and solicited their support. According to him, the Igbo leaders who had earlier collected N6m from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) asked them to bring N6m before they can give their support to Okadigbo, who is one of them.

“The fact is the Igbos have been in a difficult place since the civil war. They started from scratch after the civil war and they had to reestablish themselves in the Nigerian polity and they had to start moving up slowly in the institution. Many of them their senior people in the Army were no longer there but they have moved in the Army to the highest level, even to the level of Chief of Army Staff” .
“The Igbos are a wonderful people. For instance, at the end of the war, inspite of what you’ve had, they gave you 20 pounds. Every other thing collapsed. Then the Igbos came back to Nigeria and Nigerians celebrated with them and forgot that there was any war . Where they have property, apart from Port Harcourt, people were collecting the rents for them and gave it back to them. But the fact is climbing the social, political and economic ladder takes time” .

“But because of commercial activities, they dominated the economic terrain in Nigeria, the Igbos are the main group of any city in Nigeria. Even in Lagos today, they have Igbos in the House of Representatives” .
“But the Igbos are as disunited as the youths of Nigeria who wants to be president. We were in ANPP. We went to Lagos with the late Chuba Okadigbo who was Buhari’s running mate in the 2003 presidential elections. We met the Igbo chiefs in Lagos and asked for Igbo votes. The chief said we should come back the next day. We came back the following day and he said ‘look at that corner, that is N6m that PDP gave us. Bring us N6m and we will vote for you. I will return the N6m given to us by PDP to them” .

“That is trading and I am not surprised because they are businessmen and they talk business. For you to be talking business, the highest bidder is the person you will befriend. Nigeria will always try to divide the Igbos through financial compromises” .
“ I speak truth to power, issues and institutions. If for instance, you have an Igbo aspiring to be president, you may have about 20 people from the same South-East wanting to be president. The issue is, how can they sit down and say we decide that we want a particular person as our candidate? Nigeria knowing that weakness will cause trouble so that they cannot be united. That is the problem” he said.

I wonder why some Nigerians r so cursed that they must lie about the Igbos to succeed. The Auchi man is highly obsessed hence he must blame the Igbos to get a job.

In Igbo land no room for betrayers. When the Igbos say something or condemn or complain over a thing, though it may take long but it will surely come to pass.e.g, Awo's greed and betrayals, Abiola's greed and betrayals, BUBU's failure, Tinubu's greed and betrayals.

Kayode Adams was a student activist at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) in the midsixties. This was a period when the Federal Government removed Prof. Eni Njoku as the first Vice-Chancellor of the University and replaced him with Prof Saburi Biobaku. Shortly before the students’ protest on this issue, Adams stabbed the new VC when he assumed office in 1965. He was tried by a Lagos High Court and he pleaded insanity. FRANCIS FAMOROTI, Deputy Head, Judiciary highlights the case.

My fellow nairalanders, since I was a kid, I read that University of Ibadan was the first University in Nigeria. Till date, at almost forty years of age, I held-on to that knowledge (lie) that the SW pioneered university education in Nigeria. Just yesterday on nairaland, I realized that this was a LIE. A thread on nairaland had shown that infact, the FIRST University in Nigeria is the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. I also learned from that thread that what the SW had was the University College Ibadan, which was a college of the University of London. A college in Ibadan (UCI) is not a university and it did not have degree awarding powers, no senate, no vice chancellor, etc. See thread link

https://www.nairaland.com/4409570/nnamdi-azikiwe-pointing-site-university

It emerged that UNN is actually the first uni in Nigeria to my greatest Surprise. Before now, all articles and history revisionists have always said UI is the first BUT the UI as we know it is actually the second not first.

My people, this is proof that Nigerian history has been twisted by Yoruba media and historians. Everyone, even educated historians mention UI as first uni in Nigeria. Why? How? This is proof that South west media and historians are lying to Nigerians.

TRUTH: The University of Nigeria (UNN) is the first university in Nigeria and the first Nigerian University. That is why it was named the University of Nigeria. The University of Ibadan should take its position of first foreign College or second uni in Nigeria. Let the truth be told Henceforth.

Reelectbuhari:
Dr. Bala Muhammad of the Faculty of Communication, Bayero University Kano, has accused Igbo drug merchants of supplying codeine syrups to the north.
The lecturer made the allegation while presenting a paper at the Kano Youth Summit on Peace Advocacy and Development organised by Hamisu Magaji Foundation, at Mambayya House yesterday.

In the paper he entitled: “Nexus Between Youth, Drugs, Crime and Insecurity”, Muhammad blamed the Igbo drug dealers for the prevalence of drug abuse in the northern region, especially Kano state.
He wondered why drug abuse was not prevalent in the South-East region.
Muhammad said the Igbo people supply cough syrup that contains codeine for the consumption of the Northern youth.
According to him, “Our investigation revealed that drug abuse is beyond normal marijuana, cocaine, alcohol, etc. It has moved to the extent that the medicines we take in order to cure our diseases are now being converted into hard drugs.
“We then discovered that it is the handiwork of the Igbo people, who connive with our local people here, to supply the codeine into our region, especially into Kano state.
“There are many instances where Igbo guys were arrested for supplying codeine into Kano and some parts of the North. The cases have been reported in national dailies.
“So, why shouldn’t they take it to their region? Why don’t their youth engage in drug abuse? This is really sad, and we have to rise up to fight this menace.”

First, this thread is not about culture but the seething socio-political quakes that the SW is currently experiencing.
I beg the Mods to leave this thread here as what I am about to post here are relevant to politics board.

Since Oba Akanbi decided to dump the traditions and culture of his ancestral throne for that of a Muslim title similar to what pervades in the Islamic fiefdoms of northern Nigeria, a lot of negative reactions have trailed the move. The Amir is not however facing condemnations only as he has also staunch supporters among his people who see Akanbi's declaration of all Yoruba land as an Emirate under his supreme authority as a welcome development. Akanbi's supporters, as you may rightly guess, are Yoruba Muslims.

Akanbi, did not only declare all Yoruba land an Emirate under his command but also put his purported first class title under the Supreme authority of the Sultan of Sokoto. He has not only abdicated his ancestral throne but swore subservience to Sokoto. His declaration of all Yoruba land being an Emirate under his control automatically transmuted all authority and sovereignty of Odua to Sokoto.

Akanbi's mainly naive Yoruba Muslim supporters, also stated that with this move, Emir Akanbi will be the office from which other Amirs will be appointed across the breath of Yoruba land and that in due time, the traditional stools of authority in Yoruba land will be phased out by the Muslim Emirship.

It is thus glaring that why these Muslim Yorubas support Akanbi's foolishness is driven by their own desire to see that all traditional and cultural stools in Yoruba land are replaced with that of the Islamic system thereby barring non-Muslim Yorubas from occupying any elevated position of power. But naively, these bunch of misguided fools fail to factor that the authority to appoint an Amir in Yoruba land will be decided by Sokoto and not by them.

I can easily predict the bickering and skirmishes that will arise among Yoruba Muslims as to who is to be appointed as an Amir among them. It is from here they will carry themselves to Sokoto for the Sultan to deliberate and appoint among themselves a Muslim leader. In the future, the same Yoruba Muslims out of constant bickering and skirmishes over the Emirship tussle will demand Sokoto to appoint a Fulani to rule them and from there, the Yoruba culture will vanish and the people will forever be enslaved by Sokoto.

This is what will happen. And it will happen within 50yrs.
Why all d fuss again?Emir Akanbi will not be d only Emir in Yoruba land. There can be as much as 10 emirs in Yoruba land.Aside being an Emir,if Akanbi is a Moslem he has been under d Sultan in d past and there s nothing new.Like I keep saying, what if Akanbi had converted to a Bishop ?
