TheDEVlLHimseIf: honestly it has been long since I saw this kind of happiness and unity among us.
the moment Nigeria scored first goal you have to see joy and shout everywhere in my area. people jump for joy and embrace each other one man even ordered drinks for everyone everybody was happy
when the second goal was scored it was like we're all in paradise where everyone loves one another. that time afonja will forget his nomenclature and embrace an ipob youth Ipob youth will forget the hate he has for both afonja and abokii and all embrace themselves out of joy.
for long i have never seen this kind of joy and unity though temporarily from the masses. some even give Musa names like ahmedozie Musachukwu etc. then i came to realize that the greatest enemy we have in Nigeria are politicians. they use us and divide us for political gains they tap in into our sentimental values like religion and use it against us inciting us against ourselves. they'll make us believe we're fighting for ourselves when they're the one enjoying the benefits their children are out there in the best school in Europe or America with already made jobs in major companies in Nigeria waiting for them while they pay us stipends to come and defend them online and cause division among us all for their political gains. let's rise up and know that our unity, progress and peaceful coexistence are in our hands.
God bless us all God bless the beautiful game football.

Mhiztamurtala: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked the Department of Security Services (DSS) to immediately disclose the whereabouts of the Senator representing Abia South in the Senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe, who was arrested earlier today by the agency. The party also asked the DSS to disclose the reason for the arrest, adding that the agency had failed to allow the senator access to his lawyers and associates.
“The PDP charges the DSS to immediately declare Senator Abaribe’s whereabouts, as well as the charge against him. Moreover, the laws of our nation are clear on the process of arrest and prosecution of any citizen and not recourse to clampdown and intimidation”.
This was made known in a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, on Friday.
The party also lamented that the “Gestapo-style arrest of Abaribe has further confirmed the earlier alarm that the APC-led Federal Government has commenced a total clampdown on the opposition and perceived opponents of President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 re-election bid”.
Furthermore, the PDP said the clampdown on Senator Abaribe is feared to be in “furtherance of the moves to intimidate and emasculate members of the National Assembly who are known for their outspokenness against the constitutional violations and misrule of the APC administration”.
It also stated that Nigeria is “fast descending into a fascist state where constitutionally guaranteed freedom of speech no longer obtains and citizens are marked, arrested and detained on the whims and caprices of those in power”.
The PDP, therefore, asked for the senator’s immediate release.

Cyynthialove: Yoruba Christians, I urge you all to google how Abubakar shekau, the boko haram commander started his terrorism, then compare it with what this Mr Akitola has been doing recently and tell me whether if there is any difference between the two. Yoruba Christians are in danger for having this kind of terrorist in our midst. The most unfortunate part of it is that this man has a lot of followers looking up to him just like Abubakar shekau. Remember that Maiduguri which is the den of Boko haram today was the most peaceful capital city as of 1997, but today the city has become something else.
If the activities of this fake professor and his cult followers(Including those on nairaland) are not curtailed, then south west and entire Yoruba Christians are in big trouble. The future of Yoruba is unpredictable because Buhari is backing this demonic Islamic terrorist behind closed doors.
This stupiid second class headslammer has never for once condemned the killing of christians by Fulani herdsmen, but quick to defend his masters even though his masters still see him as a kafir.
What happened between those guys and fulanis was nothing but self defence. If they had not descended on those fulani herdsmen, Fulani herdsmen would descend on them because we all know that average fulani man is troublesome in nature. But the media buhari is controlling will keep covering the truth and be feeding Nigerians with their own lies.
Again, Yoruba Christians are in big trouble! MURIC is a yoruba organisation. |

GMBuhari: President Buhari originally submitted a budget of 2 billion Naira for Construction of the Terminal Building at Enugu Airport. But the National Assembly cut that budget from 2 billion Naira to 500 million Naira. Needless to say that this cut will slow down the pace of work on that critical infrastructure.
Deputy senate president, Senator Ike Ekweremadu is from Enugu State, but he was silent and watched as his colleagues cut the budget for that project.
President Buhari submitted a budget of 5 billion Naira being The Take-off Grant for the Maritime University in Delta State. But the National Assembly cut that budget from 5 billion Naira to 3.4 billion Naira.
All the the senators from the South South region, particularly Senator Ben Bruce watched as their colleagues slashed that budget.
Interestingly, the National Assembly left their budget untouched but rather added to it.
Tomorrow, Ndi Igbo will be screaming, “Buhari hates us, he is a wicked man, he doesn’t want to develop infrastructure in Igbo land;” and Senator Ekweremadu will be silent, watching as rancid Igbo people spill all manner of insults on the President. He will not open his mouth and tell ndi Igbo, he and his colleagues are responsible for the slow pace of work at that important airport.
Tomorrow, Niger Delta indigenes will be agitating, asking why that important university hasn’t taken off. And their representatives comfortably sitting in the “hallowed” chambers of the National Assembly will be silent.
Of what use is influence when you can’t use it, especially at critical moments.
Give me a break: ihe na eme anyi si anyi na aka.

ImperialYoruba: Do you know why they are quick to call out Yoruba muslim as targets of their frustration?
Ibo nurse a deep fear of anyone named Ganiyu, Fatai, Taju, Jimoh....and so on. Their painful experiences in Lagos has been at the hands of guys with muslim names. For instance if Ibo traders in Balogun begin to misbehave when they hear that David Ayodele and his gang are bringing trouble they go in their shop and pick up weapons and stand ready for David to show up. Replace David Ayodele with Ganiyu Owolabi, and announce that Ganiyu was spotted down the street and approaching with his gang......these yanminris will quick quick lock shop and dissapear from the scene. They have morbid fear of Ganiyu, Taju, Fatai, Latifu, Mufu.....this is why these fvkrs castigate Yoruba muslims.
No doubt Yoruba muslims are headstrong and fearless but they are not violent. Ibo just fear them .....particularly after their sad experience in hands of OPC.
Their perception is wrong. When they push a Yoruba vhristian to the wall they will soon find out there is really no difference between the muslim and christian, Yoruba is just Yoruba, period! Why are they whining about that thing. Some said it is only Yoruba fight, but same people will be asking Yoruba to free their biafra as if the Yorubas use rope to tie them down. They are quick to call Yoruba Fulani slave just cos Yoruba voted buhari. But in 1993, their own slavery was shown by the election result where they voted for Tofa, a Hausa Fulani. Same thing happened in 1999 when they voted obasanjo just cos Hausa Fulani wanted obj in power against falae, a candidate that Yoruba wanted, probably to please their northern masters. So why do they want to kill themselves on top of the posthumous thing? OP u r very wrong. Some Igbos and d likes of Ameh Ebute r saying June 12 was not a struggle that d Yorubas fought. But to majority of Igbos&others they r wondering why a man referred to as "International Thief Thief, ITT" wud be honored amid wide jubiliation by his ppl.It goes to show that indeed Yorubas celebrate criminals.Remember he sponsored most coups in Nigeria. |

1bunne4lif: The Governor of Zamfara State, Abdul’aziz Yari said he has ‘resigned’ his responsibility as Chief Security Officer of the state claiming he has no control over the security machinery in the state. Speaking to newsmen in Talata-Mafara on Friday, Yari said that his decision stemmed from the seeming helplessness of the state government and the people over recurring killings in the state. He deplored the prevailing situation where as the chief security officer of the state, he could not take decisions on strategies for protecting the state and its people, and had it implemented. According to him; “We have been facing serious security challenges over the years, but in spite of being governor and Chief Security Officer of the state, I cannot direct security officers on what to do nor sanction them when they err. “As Chief Security Officer, the nomenclature is just a name,” he said. The governor lamented that it was disheartening that killings in the state had continued in spite of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s order to security agencies to end the incessant blood-letting across the country. According to him, since the president’s order, the killings have not stopped. In a week there were attacks in this state which claimed over 30 lives. He said that the state government was spending huge amount of its resources on security but to no avail. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Yari, therefore, urged people of the state to be more faithful to God and embark on special prayers over the challenges facing the state. He also appealed to them to be patient and continue to cooperate with the government and security agencies as steps were being taken to address the challenges. “We cannot keep quiet while our people are being killed daily. We are going to cooperate with all stakeholders to bring the situation to an end,” he added.

enemyofprogress: I had the privilege of attending some meetings of the Yoruba and Igbo Leaders. I was not a leader but a youth who knew how to wash his hands. At one of those meetings in Owerri, I think in 1989, I believe, I listened to Uncle Bola Ige and other Yoruba Leaders take the likes of Mbakwe, R. B. Okafor and others to the cleaners when the Igbo said the Yoruba were betrayers, citing that Chief Obafemi Awolowo led them into secession with a promise that if the Igbo left Nigeria, the Yoruba would follow suit. They accused him of not following up on his promise. Trust Uncle Bola Ige! He pointed to Chief Mbakwe and said, "you were there in the meeting between Awolowo and Ojukwu as I was. Is that statement correct?" He turned to two other Igbo and two Yoruba Leaders who were at that meeting and asked the same question, saying he had transcripts of the meeting between Awolowo and Ojukwu. They kept quiet while the Yoruba Leaders affirmed that Awolowo never promised to follow the East into secession. What he said was that if the Igbo were "driven" out of Nigeria the Yoruba would take it seriously and reassess their own position. Igbo Leaders DID NOT CONTEST this version. Then Chief Bola Ige threw in the clincher! "Who are you to accuse the Yoruba of betrayal?" he roared, and continued;
1. At Independence Awolowo offered a joint government between the NCNC and AG, with Zik as Prime Minister and Awo as Finance Minister. Awo and Zik "were still negotiating" when it was announced that Zik would be President in a coalition with NPC of the North. The East then collaborated in destroying the West and sending Awolowo and his lieutenants to jail! 2. What of the 1965 elections which the West and the East agreed to boycott? We met all night and reached agreement about 3am on the day of the election. In the morning, while the Yoruba boycotted the election, the Igbo went out to vote. 3. After the 1979 elections Yoruba (UPN) and Igbo (NPP) Leaders were still at the negotiating table for a coalition when to their surprise, an announcement was heard that the Igbo (NPP) had agreed to a coalition with the North (NPN) 4. After the 1983 elections, 1979 repeated itself. Not giving up, Awolowo reached out to Azikiwe again for cooperation. Talks started and they met in Benin where Awo pleaded passionately that only a collaboration between The Igbo and the Yoruba could save Nigeria. They didn't reach agreement but promised to meet again. By the next meeting, the Igbo had again teamed up with the North. Uncle Bola paused and then continued "we can go on and on. So how dare you accuse the Yoruba of betrayal? How many Igbo have been killed in Lagos, Ibadan, Akure, Oshogbo (he mentioned other Yoruba towns)? You have your businesses in the West and went to schools there. Yet you count the Yoruba as your enemy. You get killed in Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, Zaria etc and have your goods looted yet you consider the Hausa/ Fulani your friends. It's your choice. If you want to be slaves for ever, we can't help you." I had never been so scared in my life. I thought the roof was going to fall. There was a pin drop silence and no Igbo dared interrupt Uncle Bola Ige because he was telling the truth. The Yoruba Leaders ended the meeting at that point and left. I hope Chief C. O. Adebayo's memoirs will give more details of those exchanges. Now to make three points from all this;
A. The Yoruba have been reaching across the Niger for a handshake, for a long time. The Igbo refused to take it until recently
B. Many Igbo Leaders of the 70s, 80s and 90s deliberately perpetrated the legend of Awolowo's role betraying them into the civil war and his role in prosecuting the war, to rally the Igbo population behind themselves. The Igbo agreed on Yoruba hatred than on any other issue. So it was the fabric that held them together for a long time.
C. Time heals all things. Many Igbo reading this will be hearing for the first time that their leaders of old knew for a truth that Awolowo did not break his word to Ojukwu as alleged. And to think of it, EVEN IF OUR PARENTS QUARRELLED, SHOULD WE THE NEW GENERATION CONTINUE THE SAME WAY? IT'S TIME TO COME TOGETHER AND MAKE THE HANDSHAKE ACROSS THE NIGER WORK FOR THE SAKE OF OUR PEOPLES AND NIGERIA.
Lalasticlala my main man abeg make my story enjoy front page biko, I no go dey disturb you again, I promise. The instances u mentioned in d 50s and early 60s were d politics of Great Zik.Zik knew Awo more than anybody. While meetings would be going on into d night with Awo,a part of him would be negoitating with d North. There were instances Awo went into agreemnt with Saudana&Zik at d same time.Awo's criminality&mischief were knw by Zik&saudana even Nkuruma of Ghana.D unfortunate tin is dat present day igbos went ahead to trust d yorubaman but now times v proven dat u cannot trust a yorubaman.Huasas use to always warn d igbos on yoruba character. |

6Ebisco: A first Republic Minister of Aviation, Mbazulike Amaechi has accused Igbo leaders of betraying the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other pro-Biafra agitators.
In an interview with Vanguard, Amaechi said IPOB members were made to look like law breakers.
“Any aggrieved person, group or organisation has the right to engage in agitations for better condition. There is no law that says that when you are maltreated, you should not complain against or to the person maltreating you. But in the case of IPOB, the Igbo leaders who should have directed them on the best way to follow betrayed them.
“Igbo leaders must not support the IPOB, but at the same time, they should not have betrayed them. If you are my leader and I am doing something you do not support, you should not sell me out or betray me the way Igbo leaders betrayed IPOB and other pro-Biafra groups.
“Personally, I believe in one great country which we fought for its creation and independence, with other notable and patriotic Nigerians who do not have the divisive minds like the present leaders of the country have in today’s Nigeria.
“I am very sad that the country I and other nationalists fought very hard for its creation and independence has been betrayed and my side of the people treated as slaves in their country. It is very annoying and saddening.
“Young men have the right to agitate but their leaders have betrayed them. If their leaders do not support them, they should not sell them out or betray them like they have done to IPOB which has been roundly betrayed by Igbo leaders who should guide them.
“IPOB is not a terrorist organisation and they are neither armed nor involved in any kind of violence. MASSOB has been there over the years doing their thing without violence, yet Nigerian government has been after them, but in the North, people are being killed, houses burnt and communities sacked by herdsmen, yet they have not been declared a terrorist group. It is IPOB they declared as a terrorist group.
“When a people as part of a union say they are not happy with the union like the Biafra agitators are doing and embark on protest against the union, the people should be allowed to decide their faith whether to belong or not, it was done in Great Britain,” he said.

TeejayMaya: Joe Igbokwe says it raw!
"Did the Yoruba go to war when June 12 1993 Presidential Election won by their illustrious son Chief MKO Abiola was annulled on June 23rd 1993 on a sheet of paper by IBB?
Did Yoruba go to war when Abiola’s wife Alhaja Kudirat Abiola was murdered in Lagos in the morning of Jun 4 1996?
Did Yoruba go to war when the winner of that historic election was poisoned on July 7 1998?
Did Yoruba go to war when those who killed Abiola imposed Obasanjo on them as President in 1999?
Did Yoruba accept Chief Ernest Shonekan when IBB made him to head the interim government in 1993? Yoruba rejected OBJ and Shonekan because this unique race has never been slaves to public office and yet they have remained number one in Nigeria in almost everything. This is wisdom and strategic thinking at work.
Those of us who have lived in Yoruba land for years should not only learn how to wear Aso Ebi, eat Ewedu soup or dance Owambe, music.
We must have also learned other unique things from them like sharing property to both male and female children, religious tolerance, ethnic tolerance, transferring legacies from generation to generation. Do you know that APC National Leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s wife is a Christian? Do you know that former Governor Fashola’s wife is a Christian? We can learn a lot from Yoruba. Yoruba too can learn from Igbo in areas of thinking home, business enterprise, self-help, apprenticeship, etc.
A Yoruba woman, a Pastor Mrs. Eunice Olawale Elisha of the Redeemed Christian Church of God old NEPA Road Phase 4 Kubwa, Abuja was killed by unknown persons on Saturday morning of July 9, 2016, while preaching the gospel around 5.30am. I have followed the reactions on the internety and Yoruba do not behave like the Igbo. They have been speaking but not preaching hate. They have called for the culprits to be fished out, prosecuted and punished. If Mrs. Eunice Elisha had been an Igbo hell would have been let loose. There would have been abuses and abuses. But Yoruba are not Igbo. This is civilization. This is strategic thinking. I hope our people can learn from this. Civility is not a sign of weakness. He who fights and run away lives to fight another day.
When GEJ marginalized Yoruba in his cabinet for five years despite been the most vocal in an effort to make him president, Yorubas didn't threaten anybody, they didn't abuse anybody, they simply fought in a peaceful & civilized way to effect a change in 2015 using their PVC. Today the most active VP since the independence & most likely, the next president of Nigeria is Yoruba. Fashola heads 3 ministries & referred to as prime minister in some parlance, Kemi Adeosun heads finance, Fayemi heads mines etc. That's how to fight for relevance in multi faceted country like Nigeria & not taking up arm against everybody.
To have ears is not to listen, to listen is not to hear, to hear is not to understand, to understand is not to put to practice. I know that writing this may not get me many friends among the Igbo, but it always gets me the right ones"

Because from the reactions i have seen from Yorubas so far, we might for reason of Buhari's decision, vote for him — June 12 democracy day change is for all intent and purposes, a greek gift, meant to curry Yoruba votes for 2019.
Not to be misunderstood, i as a yoruba man feel elated and honored by Buhari's gesture {which is long overdue}, but i deem it insufficent to warrant forgiveness for the hell that Buhari has subjected Nigerians for the past 3 years. Nigerians have indeed suffered under Buhari and our right to religious freedom has been severly violated. We must as omoluabi, eschew the temptation to return the hate of our southern neighbours. I must admit that i have felt bad reading igbo comments since yesterday about this honour done yorubas, but at the same time, i cannot forget the wanton killings and economic strangulation that has taken place in Nigeria under Buhari. What is the assurance that southerners wouldnt suffer more in Buhari's 2nd term given our experience in the 1st? There must be deep introspection on whether the actions of this Government aligns with the democratic ideals of MKO Abiola and Chief Gani Fawehinmi. If we think with a clear mind, we would conclude that both Abiola and Gani will be turning in their graves on what Nigeria has become under Buhari. I would not want to go into specifics about what we have suffered, as that would obscure the substance of my message to all omoluabi.
Let me reiterate, we must not descend into the cesspool of hate with the igbos, thus losing sight of our duty as the torch bearers of democratic principles and practices in Nigeria. There is no telling the dire consequences Nigeria will face in the next 4 years under this current regime. By all standards, Abiola and Gani deserve their post humous awards and we shall not repay their due recognition with our votes.
The political space should remain open and our votes accessible to other reasonable candidates in 2019! The orchestrators of this Buhari masterstroke are our brothers and they are well known to all Yorubas. They have done well to immortalise our brothers in death BUT they should not get our votes so EASILY.
YORUBA RONU OOOOOO...
Selah. Yoruba have always been carried away by carrot. The hausa man believe they can offer anything or swing Yoruba support easily.Yorubas say A but when you put them in d line of action you see a different Yoruba man.Exactly lack of principle.Unlike d igboman that says A and remains on that A.So principled before ethnicity and Nigerian politics and corruption.Nothing to show that you r d touch bearer of democracy rather yorubas v been d tools that destroy Nigeria democracy. When Buhari overthrew a democratic govt in 1983 along side Idiagbon, why didn't d yorubas refused knowing that democracy has been destroyed and as touch bearers of democracy.Eventualy d govt was a fiasco.Secondly, GEJ govt was d best of African govt but d yorubas was a ready tool used by the British to truncate it.The north being used is understandable but yorubas apologetic. While d elites in d north can fall for anything like their counter parts in d middle East that of d yorubas still baffle alot of us.Great powers globally were shocked at GEJ performance and personality. At world fora he was respected and he spoke his mind.He made Nigeria best economy in Africa and Nigeria was galvanizing Africa towards greatness. The white man realized that another four 4 for GEJ would lift Nigeria into permanent greatness knowing he would hand over power to someone like him. They needed to truncate this March of greatness and d constant ready tool is d yorubas.Have u ever observed that when yorubas r less or opposition to an issue in Nigeria d country do better but when given d opportunity it gets worse. The present situation can tell u better.Where s ur democracy?where is ur progressive Ness? All ur leaders were given d opportunity only to say we don't need restructure. At national conferences yorubas changed when given opportunity to walk their talk.So ur politics is ur attitude. |
