Then I guess you are not in Rivers State or from Okrika. Amadiama, Okuruama, Okochiri, Borokiri, Ogu, Oboama, Ndubuisiama, Okujaguama, Abuloma, Abam-ama, Georgeama, Ibaka, Isaka, Odokorobie, Ikirikoama etc. speak and understand Igbo as a 2nd language after Wakirike. It does not make them Igbo but the truth remains unchangeable
A friend who is a Rivers indigene told me about George-Ama, but I decided to keep quiet about it here and not throw that in this guy's face, since it was secondhand information to me that I cannot defend.

Why do this people lie so hard about their connections with the Igbo?

The deception from that guy, MelesZenawi stinks to high heavens. If you see how he carpet and demolished the other Anioma wannabe for saying his village was partly founded by Igala migrants.

The Anioma wannabe started begging to be accepted as Igbo not knowing that the pretender himself is not even Igbo but a fly pretending to be a bird.

The authentic Igbo that rejected him said he is from vampire ethnic group grin grin he is not just a school dropout but also an Igbo reject. These demented lowlifes that don't know where they belong always want to use Benin history to shine.
Udene ga-eli anu gi for saying I was beginning to be accepted as anything, when all I was doing was clarifying my stance.

Someone is Igbo if he is Igbo, period. It is not something you beg for and are given to by anyone.

Ok. Because everything has to be spelt out to people here like ABC, here goes: Hilda is not Igbo. She's Kalabari. Better now? undecided

Correct.

Hilda dokubo is actually an igbo woman....her papa change their name after the civil war
Lol. Good points have been made here about the Igbo ancestry of the Eastern Ijaw groups. Don't ruin it with a lie.

Gbam.

But clearly by his loudness on igala issue totally shows where his loyalty lies.
I've literally met no one as confused as yourself. Or as devoid of intelligence.

Intially, you mentioned me on this thread to tell me I have been misleading people on Nairaland by telling them Illah is an Igbo town, and that I never mentioned the Igala influences on the town.

I came in and defended myself, pointing out that on more than one occasion since 2017 I have had cause to discuss those issues on Nairaland.

Promptly, you changed position and started talking about how I am loud on Igala issues, and how my loyalty lies with the Igala.

Oga, which is it: am I trying to hide the Igala influences on Illah or am I too loud on Igala issues? I can't be both.

Lol. This story is very funny yet interesting. Some questions below will help to clarify some grey areas from this Ayegba of a guy.
1. Who's this Obi Igbo and who crowned him King?
2. Which territory was he crowned over?
3. Who are these his people that the Idah Prince was suppose to teach how sing, dance and to play the wooden gong?
This story is supposed to have happened 500yrs ago and the princes found the new place with her people very hospitable such that they refused to return to Idah. Today, Ayegba wants to claim it as a town founded by the Igala.
See why I said it is a funny story.
Ayegba is actually dumb going by this story.
Ayegba Abdullahi is a mad man. I've actually said as much on this forum.

Very irritating.
You are either Igbo or Igalla. You can't be both. We don't want muddle bloods with divided loyalty.
Why is this hard to understand na. We are Igbo. We are not Igala. Some of us have Igala ancestry. They've been assimilated and are fully Igbo. I mentioned Nsukka to serve as an illustration for the Illah situtation, because a similar thing played out in their history, where some Igala people moved south and are now fully Igbonised. Not Igala anymore.

This has been my position on my people from the get-go, but for some reason not really clear to me, some of you take it to mean that I am neither here nor there, part-Igala and part-Igbo leading to really unneccesary and frustrating fights.

Hian.

Kirigidi:
The Igbos across the Niger are deficient in rich history, and vain pride will not allow them to accept the fact that Delta Igbos were once under the imperial rule of ancient Benin Empire. I am Urhobo and the name of my clan is "Agbon". There is historical relationship between my "Urhobo Agbon" and "Ika Agbor". History has it that our ancestor "Agbon" and his household migrated from ancient "Udo" near present day Benin city, settled temporarily around modern day Agbor town where he had his first son whom he named "Okpara" ( meaning first child)", before finally moving to our present location in the heart of Urhobo land. My clan ancestor possibly got the name "Agbon" during his sojourn in Ika land. So I believe you when you said the original name of "Agbor" was "Agbon". As proves of our ancestral interactions, there are so many words, proverbs, customs, traditions my Urhobo "Agbon" and Ika "Agbor" still share in common. For instance, in tribal meetings we Urhobo (Agbon clan) greet "isiagware", Ika (Agbor) also greet "isiagware". Urhobo call God "Osonobruwe", Ika Agbor call God "Osanobuwe". Traditional town hall is called "ogwa" in Urhobo, Ika Agbor also call it "ogwa". Urhobo call town/kindred quarters "ogbe", Ika also call it "ogbe". The list is numerous. Even the ancient name of Agbor "Ominijie" also features in our folklores. Ominijie in Urhobo can literally be translated as "congregation of many communities/ people". Ominijie is an Edoid word.
Deficient of rich history.

What constitutes 'rich history' from your perspective? Having a king, instead of being ruled by a council of elders, is that it?

"Weird guy with an Ethiopian moniker". If you were sound, you would know who the "weird" in that sentence was referring to. But you're slow, which is why this bizarre exchange with you is even happening.

Is Illah the only Igbo-speaking town that has some people of Igala ancestry assimilated into their midst? Have you read the history of many Nsukka communities? Are they not all Igbo today? Why do different rules have to apply to Illah?

That's nice of him by putting the logic in right perspective. When settlers arrogates the monopoly of wisdom to themselves by allotting part ancestry to a town.
You're quite the scatterbrain, aren't you? A really dense fellow.

Initially you said I lied to Ndigbo and didn't tell them Illah has Igala connections.

Then when I showed evidence that I have actually been talking about that for years, you changed mouth and started saying I am a settler 'allotting part ancestry to a town' (whatever that means).

Don't fucking troll me. Stay on your lane or go and be mad somewhere else.

I was also trolled by one of the mods in the culture section. A guy that goes by the name of Francis.

I did not endure taunts of "Igala settler" for an obscure Nairaland user that uses an Ethiopian name to come here and say that I lied on Nairaland and tried to mislead people about the Igala connections of Illah and other towns in that area.

Do not quote me again and lie about what I said or didn't say, if you don't want to invite madness upon yourself.

As a matter of fact, just don't quote me again, period. Dey your lane.

I don't have issues with the young man per say. The very person I have issues with here is Redbonesmith and that further proved the point I always make here all the time about certain deceit these people which most Igbos Infact ndigbos believe gullibly and I might have been a victim of such if I hadn't peeped into this thread.

People like Igboson1 or xander85 will make you believe that his is pro while reality on ground is entirely different.

In summary A said he is igbo, and now another narrative crops up, A adjust to Bini, igala and Nri..

Them Part-Igala ancestry and next argument will be full Igala ancestry while many has swallowed the first intial narrative hook, line and sinker.

If you must maintain your stand then there is no need, absolutely no need to have another argument to the history.

If it is Igbo then it must be Igbo and igbo it shall be, any other argument must be defeated by any means possible, must never stand, breathe let alone see the light of the day rather than empowering such argument and making it seem as true .... That is loyalty to ndigbo...#Nkume

Not suprised, attack is best form of defense.

I called you to what I read that u wrote here one certain with full confidence writing such...

In a swift, another narration is cropping up..
Do not be silly this evening. Use the search button on Nairaland and search for what I have said about Illah in the past. I have always said that many of the people have Igala ancestry. I have also said that the name of the town is even an Igala word which means temporary settlement. I said these things on this very forum and was attacked for saying them by hardliners from the Southeast.

My argument has always been that irrespective of where our ancestors came from (Igala or Nri or Benin or Awka) we are Igbo now, by virtue of the fact that our mother tongue today is an Igbo dialect.

Don't come here and lie about what I said. Don't come here and say that I have neve been vocal about the part-Igala ancestry of Illah people. Don't misrepresent what I said because you're not stupid.

The post never said Andoni is Igbo. The post said their language shares affinity with Igbo. Which is true: Andoni language is basically Ibibioid, with inputs from Igbo and Ijaw.

The culture that has the very powerful ụmụada/ụmụọkpụ, which can sanction even the men is very misogynistic. Lol. Find a chair and sit down, miss.

Is there patriarchy in Igbo culture? Of course. In the same measure (less in some cases sef) that it exists in all cultures throughout Africa.

But if you think the girl child or the woman is worse off in Igboland than in other African cultures, you're not okay and are probably prejudiced. It is not accidental that Igboland has given this country and continent some of its most prominent female voices.

Wow. Something that is noteworthy about riverines is that they're much more liberal and accepting than Igbos.

A person with a clearly different history, language and culture than you trying to breach your ethnic organisation will raise serious eyebrows among the Igbos. But it seems it's not a problem for them.

Oh well. I trust Ndoki-ijaws.

Over time, they'll attempt to gain adequate representation in Ijaw organisations as a major Ijaw group; and cry foul if their sons are not represented at the helm of affairs.

They'll then insist Ndoki-ijaw language and culture be promoted in Ijaw schools along with core Ijaw, while refusing to marry core ijaws and only marrying themselves and igbo-speaking groups.

Sooner or later the Ndoki-ljaw language will supersede the core Ijaw language due to its similarities to one of the biggest languages in Africa, and Ndoki-ijaw names will soon follow.

After some time, riverines, who now primarily speak Ndoki-ijaw , will adopt Standard Igbo due to convenience, migratory patterns and increasing globalisation.
What is Ndoki-Ijaw language, chi m? grin
What level of clownery is this? grin grin grin

We all once read here that illah were Igbos are postulated by u.
You have comprehension issues because what I said about Illah is still here on this forum for everyone to read.

I initially wanted to write a long response to this, but I am not going to waste my time on the crazy land-grabber Ayegba Adullahi. But let it be known that Illah derives ancestry from Nri, Nteje, Anam, Awka, Igala and some Benin, but the town as it stands today is a full-fledged Igbo-speaking town.

The Azanoma he was even talking about is a cult imported from Igala and also found in Okpanam, but he made it sound like it is a territorial area in Illah belonging to Igala.

I don't claim to know more about their history than they themselves. It is well-known to these people that they assimilated a large number of Igbos during the period of the slave trade. They know this. Their own historians have written books talking about these things. But some of them don't feel comfortable about it and would rather lie and deny when the topic comes up.
