OAU Ife HAS TO UNDERGO THE DE-CONGESTION PROCESS UNIBADAN WENT THROUGH FROM 2000-2002 for OAU's Halls of Residence to be in top notch condition. The University of Ibadan decided to systematically reduce the Institution's Population in the year 2000 by releasing a big list of low performing students in the PUNCH Newspapers and went on to terminate the studentships of these undergraduates. They were students that had lower than 1.3 CPGA ( UI's CPGA is from 1.0 to 7.0 ). I was a 100 level student when this de-congestion exercise took place. The exercise was supervised by the then Vice Chancellor Professor Ayodele Falase and the Registrar then, Mrs Mojisola Ladipo. The exercise was in 3 stages and many low performing and fake students were expelled from UI. UI's student population went down immediately and it was noticeable too. Then from late 2001, the Renovation of the Halls of Residence began during a ASUU strike. I was on the Campus and saw all these developments. When academic activities resumed at the University of Ibadan, the whole Campus was looking like a Foreign University and the Halls of Residence had been renovated to a satisfying level. Due to the many students that had been sent packing due to bad grades, there were less students vying for bed spaces in the Halls of Residence. 3-4 students were allocated to each room in most of the Halls. In my Hall ( Zik Hall ), some rooms had only 2 occupants for a whole academic session . Students became serious and cultists started visiting the library. And UI's rooms in the Halls of Residence are bigger than what obtains in many other Nigerian Universities.

So OAU has to go through the Student and Accommodation Revolution UI went through from 2000-2002. Cheers.

I was an undergraduate at UI when the Halls of Residence of the Institution were renovated in 2001/2002. More than 500 Million Naira was given to the UI Administration by the Federal Government of Nigeria for the renovation of Hostels on the Campus. UI's Halls of Residence are in a very good shape today. OAU students should request for the same gesture from the Federal Government. They should also learn to use facilities in the proper manner and not like Animals. I think OAU needs a depopulation exercise via low achieving students being sent away from the institution. Then the Halls of Residence should be de-congested so that only 2-3 students will occupy a room. Cheers.

My Guy, do you remember Bruno Metsu? Metsu was Senegal's Coach at the 2002 World in South Korea and Japan. Do you remember how Metsu chose his players carefully and took Senegal to the Quarter Finals of that World Cup? The Senegalese team Managed by Bruno Metsu played beautiful attacking Football and nearly got to the Semi Finals of the 2002 World Cup. A foreign Technical Adviser can win the Senior World Cup for Nigeria. Metsu also married a Senegalese lady and he saw himself as citizen of Senegal, though he was from France originally. These days, loyalties to countries are as thin as Tissue Paper. Cheers.

You don't get what I am saying. As for now, there is no Technical Adviser or Coach in Nigeria that can take us to the Semi Finals of the Senior World Cup. Our Coaches have not really worked on themselves to make a huge impact at the FIFA Senior World Cup level. It will take us some time to produce Senior World Cup winning Coaches and Technical Advisers.

Did you notice how Will Voigt practically destroyed the teams Nigeria played against at Afrobasket 2015 ? Before then we had Nigerian Coaches like Ayo Bakare and Toyin Sonoiki doing their best but never being able to defeat Angola at the African level when it comes to Basketball. In comes, Will Voigt ( An American Basketball Coach ) and Nigeria finally defeats Angola. Will Voigt also chose his players carefully. We need a good coach.technical adviser from Germany or Holland who does not have to be coaching a top league club, but who knows how to build a team that can shock the World. Cheers.

Look, the European countries we defeated will continue developing the players they brought to this U-17 Tournament that Nigeria just won while many of the Golden Eaglets who have triumphed tonight will be forgotten by March 2016. We need to start doing things in a visionary manner in Nigeria. We need a very good Foreign Technical Adviser/Coach. Someone like Clemens Westerhof who will come in and start building a Super Eagles Squad for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. We have 7 years to before the 2022 World Cup and 7 years is enough to build a very strong team that get us into the Semi Finals of Qatar 2022 Senior World Cup. Sunday Oliseh will only do his best but we need a developmental coach from Germany or Holland. From 2010, we have been producing a lot of players below the age of 20 years old. By 2022, we should not see the likes of Odion Ighalo, Mikel and Ideye Brown in the Super Eagles Squad. Do you understand what I am saying?

Until we got a Foreign Coach for our Men's Basketball team, we did not win AFROBASKET. When the Nigerian Basketball Federation ( NBBF ) employed Will Voigt ( American Basketball Caoch ) this year to take D'Tigers to Afrobasket 2015 in Tunisia, we finally won the Trophy and Nigeria is now the African Basketball Champion. We need a Foreign Technical Adviser/Coach for the Super Eagles towards the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. We should forget about Russia 2018. Cheers.

Yes, bringing Nigerian women to the USA and UK after marrying them is very risky. No one can deny this fact. I know two guys in the UK that got slapped by the ladies they married in Nigeria and brought to the UK. The ladies in question quickly transformed into werewolves as soon as they landed in the UK and started claiming their rights. One of them landed a hot slap on the cheeks of a distant uncle of mine and the Marriage is something that cannot be discussed openly on Nairaland. The other lady started receiving calls from Men on EE Mobile Phone less than a week after she arrived in London.

However, many Nigerian ladies that are already abroad are not better in character than the ladies in Nigeria. In fact, they could be worse off. This is because they are exposed to many things here. You can't just trust the Naija Ladies and Women here easily. They break hearts too and will open their thighs for the highest bidder. That is why many of them here are single and searching into their late 30's and 40's. It is very hard to satisfy Nigerian women materially in the UK. Very, Very hard. I don't blame guys going home to look for ladies to marry. The women here are not better than women in Nigeria. Lets state facts as they are. Cheers.

Many Nigerian Marriages abroad are also not in a good shape. Some marriages are kept alive in the UK due to the couples being members of Pentecostal churches like MFM, RCCG, Winners Chapel etc. A lot of rubbish is going on abroad among Nigerian ladies. The ladies abroad are not saints either and many of them will do what a Nigerian based lady will do to a unsuspecting guy. People cheat on their spouses and partners in the UK too. Good Nigerian women are rare in the UK and the USA and its all about the Benjamins for some ladies and women here- You will get into their skirts anytime as long as you are loaded with Dollars and Pounds. One thing I can say about studying Journalism and History ( BA Degree ) is that it has helped me to become a very good researcher and businessman. I can research deeply and come out with unknown information about any topic under the sun. And if you are a good researcher, there is no way you won't make money if you dabble into Business . I have seen Journalists in Nigeria who own Businesses and only use their Newspapers and Magazines to source for clients. Some of the most successful businessmen in Nigeria have worked as reporters and staff writers with the likes of Punch, Vanguard, The Guardian etc and Magazines like National Encomium, The News, TELL etc. Going out on your beat as a pressman allows you to see a lot of things. You get to meet a lot of people and interview them about what they are doing. You get to know how they build their wealth or run their companies, studios etc. If you are a smart journalist, you can start networking from there.

Journalists can become successful in anything they take a fancy in. The newsroom is just their ticket to greater platforms of success. Cheers.

Hmn. I am happy that I was eventually denied the opportunity of working for THISDay Newspapers back in 2006. I did all I could to ensure that I got a job with any of the major newspapers and magazines in Nigeria, but I was always rebuffed or they would collect my CV and nothing would come out of it. Before 2006, I had some knowledge about the workings of the Nigerian Media- I knew Journalists ( except a minute percentage ) in Nigeria were poorly paid and had to rely on money they made from interviewing celebrities, businessmen and politicians. As at 2006, I had a colleague working at THE NEWS Newspapers who was being paid 22,000 Naira monthly. And this guy was very intelligent. We graduated from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism ( NIJ ) at the same time. Many journalists survive by having Fashion Columns or Pages, Entertainment Pages etc that they use as PR Fronts for Celebrities, Artistes, Footballers etc. When they interview these celebrities, the celebs give them envelopes of money ( From 3000 Naira to 20,000 Naira ) as transport fare back to their offices. So if a journalist receives about 15 brown envelopes a Month, the guy or lady can take care of a a family .

I am happy I am doing something else today and I am happy in the country I live in. I thank God for everything.

2) Go to lagos, bcom a mini dealer for a specified android phone ( huawei), sell it in another state where your shop is.

3) Buy mobile phone accessories| computer accessories and sell elsewhere.

Note: never underestimate online marketing, u never can tell where your buyers are coming from.

4) Set up strategic locations, employ immigrant workers, get a beautified canopy,buy barbecue stand where you can smoke TILAPIA FISH, in it, create a spicy sauce or stew, serve in take away pack; make sure you use white poly bag so as when customers carry it , they carry with confidence. If Tilapia is not available, find other alternatives like pork frying, smoking mutton(just like suya)..replicate it in different zones

5) Think of agric food supply business. Hit lagos market. Eg: find out when food are coming into lagos, if it is onion, yam, egg, etc.. Buy from the trailer, arrange your stock,load them in your transport vehicle , store in a warehouse(store room).. Pls do ur research on what state or area to sell it or supply to..

In life, we may not have the skill or talent but we have the money to start a business, some of these guys ve the skils but dey ve no money to start up. Think out of the box; use people who have talent,skills and make money out of them. Become an employer.

There r people who can sew,repair cars, do woodwork etc... Create a company, it shud ve a name,a brand,a logo.. Employ a few in whatever sector,monitor watch your business grow.. Imagine u buying a small piece of land, creating an auto workshop with a name attached to it. Many habokis come to the south everyday in search of jobs, even if you put a fraction of your money to 10 haboki; buy wheel barrows, buy vegetables, food and stock their wheel barrow so that they can sell for you.. Every 100 naira one haboki brings to you as profit in a day multiply by 10 haboki is a 1000 naira by 30 days would give you 30k naira is something..

Don't rush, just take your time, find out what best that suites you. Trust me,it is easy for you to spend the money carelessly to those business who have set-up for people like you to spend your cash. If you don't act, you can't make money.

My Aunt ( My Mum's elder sister ) was married to the Great-grandson of King Jaja of Opobo. My Aunt's husband was also named Jaja and he was very wealthy till he passed away around 1991 or thereabout. I can still remember the gift he bought for me on my 10th birthday. It was a great gift that I am still finding it hard to see something similar to it nowadays. I am not yet 40 years old but I know about Goody Goody Sweet and Bazooka Joe chewing gum. Bazooka Joe chewing gum was the BOMB back in the 80's to around 1990 or so. From 1991, Bazooka Joe gum seemed to have disappeared from shops and mallam aboki cubicles in Nigeria . I don't know about Dandy Chewing gum though. I never heard of it. There was one chewing gum like that that was designed like Bazooka Joe chewing gum. It had a red wrapper and had cartoons of Cowboys and Indians inside it. I think the name of the chewing gum was Bunny Chewing gum or so. I hope I am right. Sumal Foods in Ibadan is still making the chewing gum the OP is talking about. The OP's chewing gum is a recent product. Cheers.

Robot chewing gum is produced by Sumal Foods in Ibadan. This chewing gum is still in existence and is mostly sold by Mallams in their small kiosks. I remember buying it from a Mallam at Ajao Estate late last year. Bazooka Joe gum was the best though and I won't be surprised if it is still being sold in some parts of Nigeria. There was one chewing gum like that- it had cartoons of Cowboys and Indians placed into the inner part of the wrapper. I loved that chewing gum die . The Cowboy and Indians were always engaged in battles in the cartoons. Who remembers the name of the chewing gum? Help me, out .
