@Poster, Wahala dey o You need to sacrifice some hours at work to make your husband feel like a man. Your marriage should not be toyed with. Act fast before your husband starts imagining himself with another woman. Hmn.www.vibes-extra..com |
I served in in Akure, Ondo State some years ago. I would have loved to be at the coronation of the new Deji of Akure Ondo State has a lot of potentials. I am going to visit the state in the near future. Cheers.www.vibes-exra..com |
Atiku is a man that cannot be trusted. The Igbo people should ignore him. It is now that it is getting very clear that he won't win the next elections and might never occupy the top seat at Aso Rock that has suddenly become a mouthpiece for the South-East. The guy is a chameleon. He should go and tend to his University and businesses and forget about being respected in politics again. Hmn. www.vibes-extra..com |
Thanks for this thread. I once worked for a dude who was starting out as a publisher in Nigeria back in 2006. This guy launched his Magazine about a month before I joined his firm. I had just completed my NYSC and was really looking for a job. My dad was not helping matters as he said I had to get a job and start planning to start out on my own. Due to my love for writing, I applied to many Media houses and Advertising agencies to no avail. I was nearly employed by This Day Newspapers but because I was still a Corper, my appointment was delayed until the end of the service year. After the service year, I scurried down to the paper's offices in Apapa, but I was told the company had finished recruiting new people. Anyway, I got a 'job' with this guy I'm talking about. I started churning out stories and carrying out interviews for his Magazine. My salary was 15,000 Naira [ I'm just laughing as I type this ], yet this publisher could not pay me for months. He hired about 4 of us as writer-reporters and had a secretary. He could not pay the editorial staff and was always avoiding coming to the office. Sometimes, he gave us the Magazine to sell ourselves. I would sell my copies and he would collect the money. I discovered that I had more knowledge than the guy when it comes to publishing and Media Matters. It got to a stage I was trekking to work. The funny thing was that Mr Publisher was dressing well and sending his secretary [ They were from the same state ] to buy food for him in a big flask almost everyday. It was a horrible period for me. I was frustrated, angry and hopeless. Anyway, God had other plans for me. About four months later, I left Nigeria and I'm flourishing where I am now. If you cannot manage a business effectively, don't start it. Many Nigerian employers dabble into business because others are doing it or it seems to be profitable. God help us all. www.vibes-extra..com |
These kind of stories make want to start a Revolutionary Movement against our leaders. Having spent 2 Million Naira on stationary [ I imagine these pencils, pens, markers, rulers, notebooks etc were manufactured in heaven ], what positive laws have they made that has made life better for the average Nigerian? Governance in Nigeria is mainly an avenue to plunder the country's resources. It is just sickening www.vibes-extra..com |
Very difficult to understand, mainly unreasonable, mainly ignorant but could be loving when you are patient and make them realize their mistakes. www.vibes-extra..com |
Vincent Enyeama is good and I feel he deserves to be the first choice goalkeeper of a club in the main European Leagues. It is just that there is a way the football system works in Europe. African Goalkeepers are not really focused on in Europe and that may be why Enyeama has not got his due recognition. The Clubs that were interested in him due to his wonderful performance at the World Cup might have considered his long term usefulness before deciding not to sign him. As long as Enyeama does well in Nigerian colours, I'm okay with him. Cheers. www.vibes-extra..com |
I just read online that Ahmed Musa will be moving to the Dutch League very soon. That is really good for him. It should be a starting point for the youngster. Thanks everybody. Cheers. www.vibes-extra..com |
I hope all the home based players doing well today will be properly integrated into the Eagles team. More home based players should be called up for other matches and lets see how they will perform. Has anything been said about Samson Siasia? Or we should be expecting another coach to take charge of the Super Eagles? Hmn. |
@Honeric01, Thanks for the info @Arkinses, All I want is quality information. Honeric01 has done well so far. It is just that some people on nairaland are known for their solid analysis. Cheers. |
@FBS, Welcome jare I was wondering where you and Sauron have gone to. Have you been watching the match? Can we have a solid analysis of the game so far. Can you summarize all that has happened so far? We need more details of the encounter on this thread. Common, guys ![]() |
Can someone give us a detailed analysis of the match so far? Who is playing well and who should be flung into the dustbin after this match. We need to know if the stadium is full to capacity and who and who are on the bench and who Eguavoen's assistants are. Common, guys ![]() |
Where is FBS by the way? and that other sports loving Nairaland lady. I think Sauron or something ![]() |
sandee575, You're insane, you know Your link leads to a Indecency site. Fool ![]() Can someone give me a proper link where I can watch the match? |
Does anyone have a link Where I can watch the game online? All the links on this thread are not working Can someone drop a link, please? |
honeric01, You can't deny the fact that the Nigerian system is hellish. I'm not saying there is nothing good about Nigeria. What I'm saying is that a lot of work still needs to be done and the will to change things is rare to find in our politicians. Developing a country goes beyond infrastructure. How many organisations that are willing to foster development in Nigeria are acknowledged and funded by the Federal Government? Apart from Lagos State, how many Governors have rolled up the sleeves of their shirts and are getting their hands dirty in a bid to modernize their States? How many of our leaders are showing that genuine sincerity to fix the country? Do you know how many youths have had their future mortgaged by the actions of our leaders? How many negative figures are churned out about Ghana by Western Nations? Until some serious developmental projects are being embarked upon by our leaders, we will continue to get bad by press from Western Nations. Chers. www.vibes-extra..com |
Nigerian football is not about to be revived with this news. It is taking too much time to appoint a coach for the Super Eagles. I wonder why we can't learn to do things properly in Nigeria. With this decision to advertise the coaching position, it is clear that it is business as usual in the NFF. Things have not really changed and we might not qualify for the next World Cup the way things are going. Eguavoen has coached the Super Eagles before, and I don't think he can bring anything new to the table. Steven Keshi could not qualify Mali for the World cup in South Africa and Christian Chukwu is a joker. Maybe we should just give Clemens Westerhof a second chance ![]() www.vibes-extra..com |
The notion that 70% of Nigerians live on less than $1 a day is somehow subjective. This is because it is not easy to actually determine how much the average Nigerian earns and spends in a day. I have lived in different Nigerian cities and I can say some of this people we look down upon are actually doing well for themselves. Some of the market women at Bodija Market are richer than a good number of bankers in the country. Because they are not dressed up as white collar workers does not mean they are not comfortable. I have come to realize that most of what we think about others are based on perceptions. The Americans, Europeans and other Westerners see us in a particular way and they have continued to maintain the same mindset. On the other hand, the Nigerian system of living and functioning is hellish www.vibes-extra..com |
@9jaganja, Thanks you. I have nothing more to add to your solid reply IG's post. The North Africans can call themselves what they want, but they are not real Africans. They are Arabs and they mostly think they are superior to blacks anywhere they find themselves. As if I'm not a graduate of History too North Africa was originally populated by blacks before the Arabs came over centuries ago. Hannibal, the enemy of the Roman Empire was black but he is portrayed by Western Historians as an Arabic white skinned man. If the current North African population are really Africans, why do they hate their dark skinned African brethren? Hmn.www.vibes-extra..com |
I've never doubted the indomitable spirit of Nigerians whenever they put their minds to anything. They are sure of succeeding in spite of the odds they face on a daily basis. I know there have been other medical feats that have not been reported by the media, but at least this achievement made it to Nairaland. Lets Celebrate ![]() www.vibes-extra..com |
@Chuks84, Log on to YOUTUBE and search for Nneka Egbuna's 'Vagabonds In Power'. It is an interview she had with a Media Company in Europe. Nneka lives in Nigeria, in Warri, Delta State. She only travels out for concerts and shows. She returned from Germany about 4 years ago to live permanently in Nigeria. To say Nneka is exploiting the injustice in Nigeria to advance her career is like rubbishing the efforts of people like Ken Saro Wiwa, Asa, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie et al. Can you be more specific about what you are doing to make Nigeria Better? Let us have the details, mate. www.vibes-extra..com |
@Chuks84, Don't attempt to speak for Nigerians concerning Nneka Egbuna. I'm not her agent and I've not even met her personally. You are just generalizing without doing your research properly. So because the average Nigerian will not appreciate Nneka's music, we should keep promoting music that will not help the average Nigerian develop consciously? One thing I've discovered is that the average Nigerian does not take personal development seriously. I've seen so many people living in different states in Nigeria and they have not tried to do something positive for their community. You did not answer my question, mate. What is Chuks84 doing to make Nigeria better? I am enamoured with Nneka Egbuna not because I'm her agent or she pays me money, but because she is proving to be a strong role model for many Nigerian youths. She and another half Nigerian-half German lady, Ayo Ogunmakin , are flying Nigeria's flag high on the international scene. Nneka Egbuna and Ayo Ogunmakin are beautiful ladies who are keeping their womanhood and dignity intact in a increasingly morally bankrupt world. You need to re-examine yourself properly, mate. Cheers. www.vibes-extra..com |
@Chuks84, I hope you're not high on something ? Nneka is well known by a good number of Nigerians. I'm really surprised with your ignorance. If you don't like her music, just say so. It does not augur well for you to come on Nairaland and make ugly comments about a lady that has decided to use her natural gifts for a good cause. You that you are talking, what are you doing to make Nigeria better? Do you know how many Nigerians listen to Nneka's music while they are at work? Do you know how many bank executives have her music on their I-pods? Nneka is a star in Warri and I make bold to say she lives in Warri and has never been harassed by the militants there. The rebels in the Niger Delta respect her because they know what she stands for. Man, I'm really disappointed in you. Do something useful with your life and stop pulling others down. Shiorr!!!www.vibes-extra..com |
Gaddafi has just behaved like the typical North African guys I've met in my lifetime. I don't trust these Arabs and Turks from Egypt, Tunisia, Morroco, Algeria, Libya et al. I believe North Africans are not even Africans originally. You need to see how many Algerians and Tunisians behave in Europe. Because of their skin colour, they feel they are better than black Africans. They are good at snitching on you and trying to make you feel unworthy of your natural skills and abilities. Gaddafi is not a good African leader because he view black Africans negatively. I'm a graduate of History and during my research, I've found out North Africa was originally populated by blacks [ The real Africans ]. We had the Axum and Meroe empires, the Nubians in Egypt and the Catharganians in Tunisia. All these people were black in complexion until the Arabs overran North Africa during the expansion of the Ottoman Empire. Gadafi does not speak for Africa. He speaks for the Arab World. I don't really like him anyway. Cheers. www.vibes-extra..com |
@texazzpete I have commented on the issue of the child witches on other forums and on Facebook. You need to log on to YOUTUBE to hear what Nas and Damien Marley said about Nneka Egbuna. Nas and Damian Marley chose Nneka to perform with them on their 'Distant Relatives' tour for obvious reasons. If Nneka's collaboration with Nas is not a giant stride, what will you call it? You don't have to like her music, mate. However, you can't take the shine off her. Nneka is going to get bigger as time goes on. The other day, Nigerians were voting for MI and P-Square so that they would win the BET Best International Musician Award. The award was given to Dizzee Rascal of Britain. K'naan was also nominated for that award. Though he did not win, K'naan stands a chance of getting a Grammy Nomination. White people love African artists that are also activists with their lyrics. What I'm trying to say here is that we need to appreciate what Nneka Egbuna is doing. If more Nigerian youths can start thinking the way she does and expressing themselves creatively, Nigeria will soon become a better place to live in. Cheers. www.vibes-extra..com |
While I agree to an extent with Ikenagwo's analysis, I believe Nigeria's population is unregulated and uncontrolled by the Federal Government. No amount of Family Planning information will make sense to couples that are living in terrible poverty. I have been privileged to visit some rural communities in South Western Nigeria as a Youth Corper. I must confess that even though they are going through the harshest form of poverty, some Nigerians are still making loads of babies. There is this belief in Nigeria that the more children you have, you're guaranteed of being taken care of in the future when you're old. My parents had seven of us and they were able to take care of us and send us all to university. This is because Nigeria was still a good country when my parents started making babies. Today, the country has grave socio-economic problems and poverty is on the rise for those who are not well informed. Are we even sure about the number of Nigerians in the country? Do we have a proper way of recording the births and deaths of Nigerians? Does the National Population Commission [ NPC ] have offices in all the Local Government Areas of the country? The National Population Commission has to start issuing official birth and death certificates to Nigerians all over the country. A database of Nigerians also has to be opened. There is no way Nigeria will develop if we don't have a way of monitoring our population with a view to use the statistics gathered for developmental purposes. We have to start from somewhere. The advanced world conducts censuses to know the number of people in their countries, so that resources will be shared accordingly. Statistics aid development. Cheers. www.vibes-extra..com |
It is painful that a thread about the giant strides of Nneka Egbuna, the first Nigerian artist to collaborate with American Rapper, Nas, has been turned into an avenue to display ignorance and crass jealousy. This is not about the Nneka that defrauded a nairalander. Nneka Egbuna is getting popular everyday. Her music is great and she is a good example of what an average Nigerian youth should be. I have written some stories about Nneka on my blog and have taken the time to conduct a proper research on her. Nneka Egbuna keeps her website and Myspace page updated daily. This is what many Nigerian artists fail to do. It is not important that you should like her music, but it is very difficult no to . The reason why I like Nneka Egbuna is because she chose to identify with Nigeria when she had 1000 reasons to stay away from the country. This is a mixed race lady who has chosen to highlight the problems of the Niger Delta through her music. How many musicians with Nigerian heritage are doing this? We have the likes of Sade Adu, Tunde Baiyewu, Seal, Lemar Obika etc who are not doing much to identify with Nigeria. Yet a lady who has a lot of opportunities in Germany comes along to inspire us to be concerned about our country's destiny and we laugh at her ![]() Nneka speaks intelligently and she has made good use of the opportunities she came across in Europe to launch her career. Let us learn from her to start doing positive things wherever we are located. Nneka Egbuna is on the way to greater things and she might just get that Grammy Award in the near future. Cheers. www.vibes-extra..com |
I'm proud of Chiweitel Ejiofor. He's British and he can also be called a Nigerian due to his heritage. I love the way he played the role of a bad guy in 'Children of Men'. The guy will surely go places just like Idris Elba. Cheers. www.vibes-extra..com |
@Buzugee Gumtree is a classic site that offers a lot of job opportunities, goods at unbelievable prices, making friends etc. It remains one of the best sites in Britain. Craiglist is also popular and has more reach than Gumtree. As I was saying, Nigerians need to get information that will change their lives. I know someone that sells fairly used TV sets on Gumtree and that is his only source of income. This Bangladeshi guy [ He might not be legal sef ] goes around London and Essex collecting used television sets from people who do not want them again. He has a van for this purpose. After collecting them, he repairs the faulty ones, buys universal remote controls for the sets without remote control, then advertises them for sale on Gumtree. He sells some sets for £20 while others cost up to £60. I bought a lot of quality things on Gumtree that I use personally. Living in Britain is not easy but the tough ones smile in the end. Some of those who are still struggling and doing odd jobs [ That is if they are really odd jobs ] might be trying to get their papers and might be paying 'taxes' to the 'dons' who loaned them working papers . I feel for the guy who has been caught, but life goes on for the brothers and sisters still chasing their dreams abroad. Cheers.www.vibe |
