@Buzugee,

You're my favourite Nairalander of the month. Na wah for you o cheesy cheesy cheesy I bet you're busy pummelling all those white babes for your Area, abi?  The rate at which African guys are keeping the white gals happy abroad is amazing. It is as if they have declared Naija Girls as women to be ignored. Anyway, it is because many of the Naija girls are just too greedy. Hmn.

CrimeRe: Britain's Witch Children - African 'churches' Abusing Children In The Uk by Redman44(m): 7:10pm On Jul 27, 2010
That is why I don't like attending African churches in Britain. It is not even the child witchcraft issue alone that makes me stay away from these churches. The painful thing is that many of those who attend these churches have not found their bearing in the UK. They have not found their consciousness and have subjected themselves to exploitation in the hands of some of the church leaders who are dodgy. Besides, I don't like the way everything African is portrayed negatively in Britain. There are white people doing obnoxious things too. Channel 4 should point the cameras on the wrongdoings of the European community too. Cheers.

This thread is really interesting.  I feel acute poverty in Nigeria has contributed to this situation where ladies look at what you've got before they date or marry you.  In the long run, do relationships that were motivated by material possessions last lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed? Many marriages are falling apart because they were not built on strong foundations. It is as if the world is living in a great delusion when it comes to dating, relationships and marriage.  True love has been sacrificed for extreme comfort and material possessions. With all the problems afflicting the marriages of our so called celebrities, should we not start to see that love is much more than what we think it is? The rate at which supposed lovers cheat on each other is sickening sad sad No wonder there is a rise in single motherhood in the Western World. Na wah o. And why are the ladies not coming on board to defend themselves?

EducationRe: Are Nigerian Universities Always Dirty by Redman44(m): 6:02pm On Jul 27, 2010
We can always choose not to be a product of the environment we grew up in. I don't know of other universities, but I can speak about the University of Ibadan during my undergraduate years. UI employed cleaners and gardeners to make the campus look beautiful. My faculty was always clean and the toilets did not have faeces all over the floor. It only stank of urine once in a while. It was in the Halls of Residence that the terrible display of filthy living was taken to new levels. In my first year, toilets in my hall were very dirty and they stank to high heavens. I usually used the toilets in my faculty before coming back to the Hall after lectures. The reading rooms were also often dirty with all kinds of rubbish lying around. It took some time for UI's maintenance department to cut the grass and bushes around the Halls.  However, UI was clean to an extent. From 2006, there has been a gradual reconstruction and renovation of facilities on the campus.  I must confess that I've learnt a lot concerning personal hygiene in Europe. Choose not to be a product of your environment.

While I agree with all what you've said so far, I still believe toasting works these days. I agree that most ladies go after guys with a lot of money. I also agree that dressing well and having a nice car can bring the girls to you like ants are attracted to sugar. However, there are some exceptions to the rule. There are some women that are not moved by what you've got or the designer clothes you've got. These ladies still want you to declare your honest intentions to them. It is not all women that can be gotten by flashy things. Some years ago, there was this girl in journalism school back in Lagos. She was really pretty and light skinned and the guys were scrambling to date her. However, this lady rebuffed their attention and got close to a guy that was considered a geek and a nobody. What I'm trying to say is that some women [ about 5% of women ] see beyond the glittering cars, cash and clothes. Honestly, I've come across such women. And it is not all of this species of women that are Spiri-Konko people o wink wink They are just lovable ladies. Cheers.

@eyoniggar,

Thanks for the compliment. The Ghanaians are just being envious of Nigerians. They know that we are better than them on any level. A Ghanaian guy at my place of work ( He is a bit realistic than the other dudes from Ghana I've met in recent times ) even told me that Accra is the only city that seems to be very developed in Ghana. He said his town does not have much infrastructure. I have some analyses to make here:

1. Nigeria might be a third world country but there are many areas in Nigeria that developed in all terms. I won't talk about Abuja here. I will be going too far by doing that. Alagbaka in Akure and Jericho in Ibadan are residential and business/industrial areas that Ghanaians will be very envious of. Some areas of Kaduna are very developed and the people living in these areas are middle class and Government workers.
2. How many international musicians and actors of Ghanaian origin exist compared to Nigeria? We have Sade Adu, Ayo, Seal, Tunde Baiyewu et al. Nneka Egbuna,  a Nigerian-German musician is holding the world spellbound at the moment. The remix of her song 'Heartbeat' features Nas.
3. You can't even compare the graphical quality of Nigerian Magazines and Newspapers to those of Ghana. Nigerians only need to care about one another. Then the Federal Government has to start investing in modern infrastructure and strive to provide 24 hours power supply. Nigeria has all it takes to becoming Africa's industrial powerhouse. Ghana is nowhere near Nigeria in reality. Cheers.

This Nigeria-Ghana rivalry is getting out of hand sad sad  Normally, Nigerians should not be bothered about Ghana's seeming economic growth. Ghana and Nigeria are light years apart in potentials and intelligence. I don't want to join issues with anyone here, but I've come across some nasty Ghanaians in Britain. These guys have carried their animosity towards Nigerians to Britain. The other day, two of them of them were arguing with me that their football is more developed and better than that of Nigeria. I listened to what they had to say before giving them my response. I told them- ' Ghana's football is on the rise because of the clueless football executives we have in Nigeria. When it comes to individual soccer talent, Nigeria is far ahead of Ghana. Ghana's football revolution started in 2005 but you've not won the African Nations Cup since then. If Nigeria employs a solid coach in 2010 and reforms the NFF, the Super Eagles will win the next African Nations Cup in 2012.'  While I do not support the rabid increase in participatory fees by Nigerian Film Bodies, Ghanaians have to realize that Nigeria will soon get her acts together. Nigeria is the powerhouse of West Africa. When the sleeping giant wakes up, Ghana will catch cold a thousand times cheesy cheesy cheesy  Cheers.

Complete Demonstration of Stupidity on all sides angry angry angry angry

It goes to show the level of intelligence of undergraduates today. The video recording should have been done secretly without any beating being doled out to the lecturer. It would have given the lady enough evidence to nail the randy lecturer after reporting him to the University Authorities. Uploading the video on YOUTUBE is not very civil. When I was in Nigeria's University system, I witnessed an incident where a lecturer gave good grades to a female student who did not sit for the exam of a particular course in my department. This young lecturer was found out and sacked tongue tongue tongue. A lot of things happen on our campuses. Hmn.

I paid very low tuition and accommodation fees while I was an undergraduate at the University of Ibadan between 2001-2005. I don't know if the fees have been increased now. Even when the Hall Residence fee [ Bed Space ] was increased from 90 Naira per session to 3,500 Naira, UI students were still paying low fees generally. OAU seems to be the cheapest university. Normally, the Nigerian Universities Commission [ N.U.C ] should have all the data we need including the tuition and accommodation fees of all Universities in Nigeria. We don't take data capture seriously in Nigeria. Cheers.

I'm not surprised that Ituah has decided to start his own church. Intelligent and industrious men like him cannot thrive under a large central leadership like the one that obtains in the Redeemed Christian Church of God. I've read a lot about Ituah Ighodalo's achievements as the Pastor of the RCCG Branch at Gbagada. Was he not the one that was publishing a solid Newspaper some years ago? I wish him the best in his new venture. The only thing I won't want to hear is that his new church has been turned into a commercial entity lipsrsealed lipsrsealed. He should focus on making his congregation candidates for heaven. Cheers.

The coast is clear for Samson Siasia to become the coach of the Super Eagles. Lars Lagerback has decided to call it a day with Nigerian Football. He has told the interim NFF Board that he is not interested in handling the Super Eagles again. Lagerback will be sending in his resignation letter by email in a matter of hours. Siasia should be named as Eagles coach next month. Siasia is still enjoying some popularity despite the setback he suffered in his career last year at the FIFA U-20 World Cup held in Egypt. He needs to win the next African Cup of Nations as Eagles Coach or else he will finally lose the respect and affection Nigerian Football fans have for him. Cheers.

I feel the NFF under Maigara is putting the cart before the horse sad sad  We need to appoint a new coach for the Super Eagles before thinking of organising friendly matches. It seems Lars Lagerback is not interested in coaching Nigeria again and I know the current NFF board does not want him. John Obuh should not be distracted from his job with the Flying Eagles.  I don't know why we are in a haste to play South Korea. If we cannot play Grade A teams from Europe, we can play the likes of Serbia, Slovenia, Poland, Bulgaria, Turkey etc. These teams will give us a run for our money. The current NFF board will not achieve much if it continues to rely on the Federal Government for funds. The NFF has to start looking for ways to generate income on its own by starting a Soccer Lottery and taking the Merchandising of National Team Jerseys and track suits seriously. Events where Super Eagles players will feature can be organised and people will pay gate fees to hear the players talk and be able to ask them questions. There are a lot of ways to generate money and I feel the NFF officials have to put on their thinking caps this time around. Cheers.

@Africanson

Can you start the movement that will chase the corrupt politicians out of power? If you can start this revolution you're talking about, I will join the crusade. Talk is cheap, but taking the much needed steps to effect the desired changes is always a problem. How many Nigerians turned up for the recent demonstrations in Abuja and Lagos? You'll be surprised that as soon as you and a group of guys start the revolution, many of those cheering you on will start tracing their footsteps back to their homes and offices. Nigerians are not like the French, Germans or Russians who revolted against their Monarchies and corrupt officials successfully. Trust me, I've been involved in demonstrations as an undergraduate at the University of Ibadan. There were times when only about a hundred of us will be fighting for the whole students community. While cultists were trying to silence us with guns, machetes and threats, other students would be attending classes, studying at the library and calling us troublemakers. At the end of the day, I still graduated with honours without an extra year.  We fought against the key deposit @Zik Hall, UI. About 200 Zikites did not pay the Key Deposit fee and yet we graduated at the right time. My friend, don't be an internet warrior. Lead and we will follow. Cheers.

The Grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence. Our 47 brothers and sisters should not give up on life due to what has happened to them. They have to move on and try to do something concerning their dreams. It takes the favour of God to succeed in another man's country. I don't like the attitude of Black South Africans towards immigrants from other countries. Is it not a shame that while the European Union is expanding and allowing their citizens to settle and work freely across the continent, Africans are still hating on each other sad sad sad? It does not matter if you're black or of Asian origin [ though you might get the spiteful glance from racists ], once you hold a EU Passport, you can live and work anywhere in the Union.  Now, I'm not supporting illegal migration or Nigerian fraudsters in South Africa. I only want African countries to integrate better and open up their countries to one another.

Many South African blacks are not reliable as employees and this has led to Managers in the Service Industries relying on immigrants to keep their businesses running. The same scenario obtains in Europe. Nigeria is a country of more than 150 Million people. With the level of poverty in the country, Nigerians will keep travelling to South Africa, Europe and North America. Personally, I won't advice anyone to settle in South Africa. If you're going there for studies, don't spend one more day there after your graduation. You should be looking towards North America and Western Europe. I know what law abiding Nigerians abroad are doing for their families back home. For all those saying Nigerians should be deported from foreign lands, you need to have your head examined. The Western Countries are having a decline in birth rates and the number of pensioners are increasing by the day. Countries in Europe are struggling with the welfare of their citizens and they need taxes to keep their economies in the balance. With all the hullabaloo about immigration in Britain and other parts of Europe, the European Governments are still issuing visas and work permits to foreigners. They are against immigration in public, but they support it secretly. One of the reasons for the formation of the European Union is to stem the declining population of member states. Since they are all whites, It is easy for a woman from Poland or Latvia to move to Britain and marry an Englishman or German. Their children will be British Citizens in the long run and this situation can be replicated a thousand times.

As long as the world exists, Immigration and emigration will not stop. It is the life we create for ourselves and what we achieve wherever we decide to live that matters. Cheers.

I have taken a thorough look at the white baby again. The baby has some African features but I feel there is something wrong somewhere sad sad sad Folks, a lot of things happen in the UK among Nigerians. There is a possibility that the supposed father of the baby is impotent and has to put up with a dominant wife. The wife might have decided to test the waters outside her marriage by going to bed with other men. She could have gotten pregnant in the process and had the the two black children before her recent birth of a white baby. The man looks confused and surprised in the Family Portrait that has been placed on Nairaland. Many women will do anything to have children so that they can be accepted by the families of their husbands. The guy could have been jazzed and be under the influence of a charm or something. However, if the couple are indeed loyal to one another, then it is miracle. I'm just confused, folks lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

FamilyRe: Black Parents, White Blond Baby Not Albino (picture) by Redman44(m): 12:25am On Jul 21, 2010
I think a DNA test should be conducted and this should cover all the children. I'm not accusing the woman of anything but some women cannot be trusted. It is also possible that the baby will become darker as she grows up. This is really a strange occurence shocked shocked shocked    I remember growing up in Ikeja, Lagos State, and there was this girl living on our street. She looked very European but her parents were black from the Yoruba tribe. This girl spoke yoruba fluently and played with other children. We accepted her as our friend and a Nigerian but she looked very different from us. I also remember coming across a Mixed-Race girl while I was in secondary School in Ogun State. Her mum was German and her dad was Nigerian. She had a brother called Anthony. This girl lived in Abeokuta and spoke yoruba and english fluently. She should be in her late 20's by now. Let me call this girl Yewande [ She has a yoruba name I can't disclose here ]. If Yewande marries a black man, they will have children that are half-caste. And if their half-case children marry black people, the white genes will keep receding over the years. However, if one of the descendants of Yewande's children marry another person with white genes in their family, they could have a white child.

Since the couple in question have had full black children earlier on, there is something they are hiding from us. Something needs to give.  The truth will come out as time goes on. Hmn.

Sincerely, Nigerian Newspapers and Magazines [ with a few exceptions ] are up for sale to Politicians and moneybags on a daily basis. This is because Nigerian Journalists are not well paid unlike their western counterparts. Many Editors of Nigerian Publications rely on the graciousness of politicians in the country to survive. How much is a reporter in Nigeria paid? In 2007, I came across a friend of mine who works for a News Magazine with offices in the Agidingbi-Ikeja area of Lagos. I was carrying out some research in the library of this Media Company and I asked my friend [ We were classmates at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism ]  how much he was being paid. He told me 22,000 Naira monthly. Some Media companies even pay less than that.  I thank God for not allowing me to get a job with Nigerian Newspapers and Magazines. I did all I could to get the attention of the editors of some Magazines and dailies in Nigeria but I was not offered a job. I hope things will get better for Nigerian journalists in the future. Cheers.

CrimeRe: Soldiers Batter 3 Lastma Officials! by Redman44(m): 1:01pm On Jul 20, 2010
I know the soldiers have gotten away with this display of thuggery. It is just that this incident has been reported by the media. Soldiers beat up people all over the country daily and we do not get to hear about these happenings. It is sad that all our law enforcement and defence agencies do not respect themselves. Some years ago, soldiers burnt down a Police Station near Ojuelegba, Surulere, because one of their colleagues was locked up by the Police. Ordinary Man O'War guys will be showing their power in public and beating up conductors and bus drivers. Uniformed Personnel are supposed to be the most law abiding of citizens. This is because they represent the government as they move about the country. In Europe, it is very rare to find a soldier in Camouflage moving around. They are consigned to their barracks and only come out in their gear for Parades and celebrations.  In Nigeria, soldiers move around in their uniform and keep intimidating ordinary citizens. I hope a panel of inquiry is set up to investigate the assault on the LASTMA officials with the erring soldiers punished.

Hmn, I don't even know what to say again. Sports administration in Nigeria has been hijacked by opportunists and mediocres. I doubt if the current falconets are insured in the event of injuries or other unexpected mishaps. It seems many Nigerians lack organisational skills and the country is paying dearly for this. My advice to the girls is that they should not worry about the cash they're being given. They should just play well because scouts from European clubs are watching them. Play well, score goals, and get signed by the scouts. Goodluck, Falconets.

FamilyRe: Is Marriage Now Old-fashioned? by Redman44(m): 1:45pm On Jul 19, 2010
We need to realize that many marriages are failing these days because people have left out God in their daily activities. If you've got the fear of God in you, it will be hard for you to cheat on your wife or pick a wrong woman or man as your future partner. I also believe that there is no perfect relationship or marriage. A marriage is like a house under construction. The couple have to keep working on themselves until they reach a level of perfection in behaviour, attitudes and human achievement. It is also good for a couple to have common goals and aspirations to make their marriage succeed. The union starts to fail when the man or woman is moving faster than the partner and feels his wife or her husband is lazy or visionless. We are living in a age where having good values is seen as being weak or being religious. I believe in the Marriage Institution. I hope to get married soon.

Pap is good and I grew up on it back in the days. I've not taken it for some time now because it is not readily available where I am currently. I feel the reason why many folks on this thread dislike Ogi or akamu is because of the way it is prepared by different people. When I was in boarding house in Ogun State in the early 90's, I hated the Pap that was served by the school authorities. It was watery and you were also given two small akara balls to go along with it sad sad. Those were the days of suffering as a secondary school student. However, when I went home for holidays, My step mum prepared the Ogi in a superb way. It was thick and she served it with delicious Agoyin beans and sugar.

It should be noted that there are different kinds of pap. I don't like the white pap made from white maize [ I guess this is the type of pap that many nairalanders find it nauseous and do not like ]. I love the ogi made from Yellow Maize and Guinea Corn [ This variety of Pap is reddish in colour ]. The Yellow Ogi is my favourite and we used to have loads of it stored in our freezer. Ogi is very nutritious and I love taking it topped up with Bournvita and granulated sugar [ not the unhealthy Dangote sugar o ]. Cheers.

When I read news items like this, I feel like throwing up lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed. We are always on the pages of newspapers abroad for all the wrong reasons. If it is not credit card fraud, it will be benefit and welfare fraud. What is really wrong with us? About two weeks ago, I read in the community newspaper of my area in England about two Nigerians [ or Britons of Nigerian descent ] who were caught claiming benefits after they had gotten new jobs. They were both taken to court, fined and ordered to do community service. I was also on Youtube some months ago and I was disgusted with what Nigerians are doing in the Republic of Ireland. There was this woman that was claiming all kinds of Welfare benefits for her children in Dublin and London at the same time. When the Irish authorities caught up with her, she looked defiant and told the Gardai that she had not committed any crime sad sad. She was not deported because she had a residence permit.

Honestly, Nigerians need to be suspicious of 'Been To's' who spend huge sums of money when they travel back home. It is not easy to make money in Europe and America except through fraud. These fraudulent Nigerians are the ones that paint a rosy picture of life abroad when they go back home for holidays. I'm not saying British and American citizens are not corrupt, but the level of cyber fraud being committed by Nigerians in Thamesmead, London, is frightening sad sad.  We do these shady deals just to impress people in Nigeria that all is well. Living abroad has its benefits and a honest person will get to the heights he desires through hardwork and prayers. I am not against Nigerians who use other people's ID to work as long as they've got plans to regularise their stay in the States and Europe as time goes on. I understand that man has to survive. What I don't like is our belief that we can behave as we like in another man's land and nothing will happen to us. Lastly, Shame on those who are supporting the scammers in America. Cheers.

@saintchux,

You have taken the words out of my mouth. We need to realize that white people will always ask for your origins even if you were born in Europe or North America. They will always make references to the country of your parents when some issues come up. It is not as if they won't accept you as a British, Canadian or American Citizen, but there will always be talk about you being African or Carribean by origin. Have you filled Job forms or council forms in Britain before? Why do they always ask you to tick if you're Black British African or Carribean? We Nigerians have to cherish our country and heritage no matter what we are going through today. I will always say I'm Nigerian anywhere in the world. I believe my skills and natural gifts will get me to the heights I desire if I work hard and believe in God. We might carry different Passports or multiple passports, But we are Nigerians in the eyes of the World. I watched a video of a mixed race guy who left the UK to settle in Nigeria about 5 years ago. His mum was a white British woman but he decided to settle in Nigeria to promote his business. I'm proud to be Nigerian.
