AKWATGOLD1:How? Are there not more viruses in the wild. Do you know that disease wipes out tens of millions of birds each year. |
Cool. So that when we vacate this planet we can grow our sushi and kebabs on planet Neptune.... ![]() |
Yes, but he should focus on his primary job of fighting inflation. There is no other thing the government should be doing. We have just exited a regime best known for junketing around the world claiming to 'put Nigeria on the global map' but at the end the only maps we were represented in was that of borrowers in chief and poverty capital.... There is no leader in the world with the kind of challenges we face that will not have his primary focus here. The problems were created here in Nigeria and most of the solutions lie HERE in Nigeria. Inflation is the primary issue now and there is no point in looking for cold water to pour on a scalding hot iron, it will simply explode. Government has to take the more difficult challenge of reforming itself for Nigeria to survive. Weeks after reforming the rest of the country there is yet any move or sign the government is ready to be more accountable, more sacrificial and more efficient with the resources it has at its disposal. Thus more resources should not the primary quest. Nigerians should not be mistaken, subsidy removals and then investment is not the solution to all the problems afflicting this country. We want to see a smaller, leaner and meaner government, ready to use the scarce resources for the development of this country first. |
So how will the naira cope with all these 'licenses to |
nairalanda1:Not true. There are lower yield tactical nuclear weapons designed for use against enemy formations and armour including bunkers and other toughened defensive structures. There are also weapons designed to neutralize enemy communications by EMP discharge. Not all nuclear weapons are high yield mass destruction devices. |
Oga, enough of stories. Settle down and start to govern. The effects of the rampaging inflation are escalating and it is the responsibility of government to fight inflation if not the intentions of the subsidy removal will not be achieved. When you put a piece of iron in the furnace to heat it up to forge you bring it out and act quickly before it cools again. If the economy cannot be shaped quickly before it freezes over you won't have anything to govern. Already productivity is slowing dramatically and without clear signals a swathe of enterprises will fail. Act now. |
Adonispco:Get a job that will equally take you out for 'weeks' so that you will not be available for any accusation. |
SmartPolician:You are better than this thought pattern. You know it. |
Dogo246:They should sort out the country first. There is no political office holder in any need right now. Their basic needs are taken care of by the State at the moment, anything beyond that should spur them to settle Nigeria first and the degree to which relief is able to go round will determine what they get at the end of the day. So it is not their rates first. Are they willing to give everyone a 100 percent raise? |
bentenny:Really?... ![]() Who are those lousy fellows doing that. Do they want to torch the country. |
That is very good and what we want to see of a government that is alive and sensitive to the times. Kudos to the government. The previous news was pure provocation of the highest order, nations have gone up in flames for far less. If the government is a father it should feed his children first and then manage with the wife whatever is left not the other way round. |
Karlman:There is no such thing as 'moral grounds' for not doing their duty as the opposition party to check the ruling party even if they have failed and misruled for decades, it remains their right and duty to ensure there is an alternate power base and a brake to the throttle of government. The punishment for misrule is that they have lost power, that is enough. The State should not be plunged into an autocratic, one party rule. Abeg you folks should spend more time studying what democracy is all about. It is not a sunday afternoon cultural meeting place. If the Labour party is appointing key government officials without the legislative approval that it misrule and that kind of lawlessness does not bode well for a State that wants to move forward. There are too many dangers about that. The people should be scared of another ruler that wants to operate without accountability. Have we not had enough of that in this sorry country. Citizens should take a collective stand for the rule of law and stop giving misleading signals to our leaders. If anyone has committed crimes against the State in the past they should be prosecuted. It is individuals that go to jail not political parties. |
You will have thought that endSARS should bring and 'end' to these things but unfortunately half the citizens made otherwise and in that confusion the police as an institution fell through the cracks. Once again the citizens of Nigeria cannot collectively define good governance, cannot agree on how to craft it.... so unending stories follow.... and impossible tasking in asking a leopard to change is spots. |
theysg:Just passing by and a bit hesitant to reply but at the bolded. have you actually read what you have written? Please step back and read again what you have written, then jump into a vehicle, drive round the city to check out a few hotels, make some enquiries especially to the security men on duty and show them exactly what you have written here. I know you are livid at the man for his actions but I am afraid that the law is only applied to offences committed not intended. And there is no proof of intention here as far as the report is concerned. Please do not confuse the law with morality. |
austinleo78:This is the reality. Life should be hard for people that don't make.much but consume a lot. It is the law of nature. Nigerians have been eating their future for 60 years, squandering their inheritance (oil) on 'riotous living' and now that it is becoming worthless, like the prodigal son are coming to their senses, or shall I say, facing the realities their counterparts in saner climes face. The reaction our people should have is to rebel against those that want to remain in squandermania, while the ordinary man faces reality. This is where me I have a problem with Nigerians, they still cannot speak up against their oppressors, they still worship them while they suffer, they cannot demand.for the equitable sharing of the sacrifices. My fear is that a violent, destructive uprising will become inevitable if stern advocacy for a equitable and just society is not possible. |
Nolevel666:Hahaha...laugh wan kill me... ![]() Float get different type oh. You fit float ontop mattress aka water bed, you for float for river if you wear life jacket, and you fit float for air like leaf wey breeze blow..... me I no know which one naira come dey.....hahahaha... ![]() |
Seun, make this a daily habit so we can plan properly and move smoothly. Had to go through the rigour of unblocking trapped funds in the old window with some banks still sitting on their hands claiming to be waiting for directives while trading with customers funds. So pathetic. For now I just make do with private international currency swaps till the whole thing settles. |
theysg:So has he been charged to court, for as you say 'obtaining another man's property'.....because we hear about theft cases in court everyday here in Abuja. As for me I don't see any case here. Adultery is yet to be a criminal offence in non Sharia states and even then he had to be caught 'pants down' as they say. Yes, bad ethics and poor judgement in our clime to have a married woman in your hotel room but a crime.., no sir. |
I simply don't see under what law he was arrested. The closest thing he could have been charged with is soliciting a prostitute but this is hardly the circumstance if his narration was accurate and complete. Police Nigeria has a long way to go in aiding the development of this country. And this 'northern Nigeria' talk in the Federal capital is worrying. Abuja should be the best reflection of the constitution of this country that is apolitical, religiously and ethnically unbiased. |
After investigation what happens to those who have been importing 'ghost' gasoline and their fellow brigands in power. |
arantess:I just don't get it. Some will even try to quieten you down. This is the time and opportunity to establish good governance once and for all but nothing will ever trigger or anger my fellow citizens enough to demand for it. |
nedekid:But you will gladly accept to cut your own expenses and degrade your standard of life due to inflation abi..... is than not slavery. What makes Me. President or any typical political officeholder better than you or more deserving of a better lifestyle than you. We must elevate our thinking in this country. A typical politician anywhere in the developed world lives at the same standards as those he governs. Here we readily accept as impossible equity from a people that were begging us to vote them in just 3 months ago. What rubbish. So annoying. |
DeLaRue:They will not agree abi. But how did the people agree with all the cuts in subsidy. Are people you vote for bigger than you who voted them in. Which kind of useless democracy is this. Only in Nigeria. Only is Africa. The same day they removed subsidy was the same day they announced a 30 billion naira pension for themselves and no one said anything. Why won't they come again two weeks later with another provocative cash heist. They know the citizens are just dummies. |
Jking20:Is the average Nigerian a civil servant... How many are you people that you guys consume practically all revenue generated in this country. What makes you folks more deserving than the real average citizen. This is the problem in this country. The government only responds to threats and the threats by its own workers but over 100 million people are out there that cannot strike because they are non aligned. And this polarisation of society is what runs this country aground. Caring for the minority at the expense of the majority. |
abibox02:This government can revoke the sale and return the properties to the Legislature. |
Do the people have a choice since they love their feudal rulers and gladly lap up the sentiment fed them daily. They say it is absolutely necessary that the citizens sacrifice for a better Nigeria but they are exempt. Till now government has NOT COME OUT TO SAY ONE THING THEY ARE GIVING UP OR CUTTING DOWN to establish solidarity with the suffering people. NOT ONE. But all hailings and praising are abounding towards them.....by a conquered people. |
anonymuz:I can't see anyone of them that the gorilla will successfully handle when cornered in a cage. I would replace the gorilla with a hippopotamus to end the duel decisively. |
Is this a question. The grizzly bear by a country mile. 1. It is a apex predator, the gorilla is not and does not have killer instincts. 2. The grizzly is an omnivore so it does not have a problem cutting into tissue and will gladly eat all the others if it is hungry except lion tissue which most other animals find repulsive. 3. Speed. Despite it's size the grizzly is swift in movement, perhaps second to the lion but equally as ferocious. 4. Killer instinct. The grizzly has more options. The power of its jaws and dentition comes only second to the lion's but it's claws can rip into and hold down prey which gives it a decisive advantage. 5. Weight. This is the decisive factor. The grizzly packs much more fat and so it's vital organs are embedded much deeper and out of reach of the lion's teeth where it loves to strike, the head and neck. 6. Endurance. Gorillas are not known to duel for lengthy periods of time. Lions too are not known to have high stamina this they excel when hunting in packs and gain advantage by stealth. In a cage these won't suffice. Top endurance belongs to the anaconda which can maintain a vice like grip like forever but how it will ambush much bigger preys remains to be seen. |
Ignorant lawmaker that cannot differentiate between the so called 'winning and losing" mentality and the fundamental principle of democracy that prescribes the operation of opposing or opposite power structures to guarantee the safe operation of the system of governance. To him the brake in a car in not necessary and the throttle alone will get a nation from point a to b. They will not accept that a government needs to be held to account while in power to avoid the drama of dastardly revelations after leaving government. Anyway Nigerians are not known for a maintenance culture. When things go bad they discard. |
veekid:. Were you watching 'Gladiator' when you posted this.... ![]() |
Fedrams:He is doing his job, as chief inquisitor, opposing government. Just what he said will make others look at the list again and dig into the backgrounds of the appointees to seek prior connections between the 'appoint er' and 'appointees' for perhaps any indiscretion. This is the job the media ordinarily should handle if they are not this lazy. Society is not built by everyone following sheepishly no matter the qualities of the shepherd. You folks should take time out to lend an ear to politics in other climes. Everything is a tug of war since politics is all about interests. We live in a very feudalistic society in Nigeria so anyone that cannot bow down when we do is seen as the enemy. See what universal bowing down got us the last regime. Where are those who were saying back then, 'It is Buhari's right to appoint whoever he likes'. Today they are here on this forum berating the poor man from Daura for nepotism, instead of calling him out and correcting him back then. PS: At the bolded, those with skills in retrieving old posts should help us dig up some of those. Some of the culprits are here today speaking from both sides of the mouth, others have changed monikers to hide like ostriches. |
lexy2014:Totally agree. And that is because democracy in Nigeria remains largely dysfunctional courtesy of failed institutions. Every head of every parastatal owes his allegiance to the Head of State rather than the State itself so they gauge the leanings of who is the President and pander to his sentiment. And we the people accept and support this anomaly. Last regime you often heard the saying that, 'it is Mr. President's RIGHT' to do this and that. When a people accept that thought pattern they surrender themselves to autocracy and leave their guard posts as defenders of State institutions. I look forward to a time when the President of Nigeria becomes answerable for his actions WHEN in power. When the era of UNLAWFUL orders have immediate consequences. |
