The Three Lions will eat both these teams alive. Not much quality this second half. |
Ekpekus:My guess too. Weah could not have been President for more than a few years now and the lad must have repped the US at age grade and then on to the senior team. |
ManOfSon:Find out when the two events took place before passing judgement. If the lad had decided for United States sporting before his father became President then you have to cut them some slack. If not then the debate continues. But the lad is an adult and can take whatever decision he wants independently. Most of your so called big men in Nigeria have some or all their children as foreign nationals and sometimes do represent those nations in various fields of endeavour. It is very common. |
The USMNT wilting under better play by Wales. But one quality counter attacks could end this contest. |
Kai, Wales is poor. Totally unprepared to mundial. |
It was coming. Good take by Timo Weah. |
Wales busy showing us why they have not been here for.....ever and why Ukraine may have been more exciting. |
Pulisic causing the Welsh defends all kinda wahalas. #StarBoy We never see Gareth Bale for dis match ooo
Age is more than a number. Abeg sofry for the pensioner. |
Fira09:Yeah. They are pressing Wales back. Can't see how they won't win....but football is a funny old game and those two early yellow cards might tell later. |
Kobonaire234:Yeah, must have motivated him to switch the son's allegiance. |

See as my mouth don buy wahala.... ![]() |
Dis President George Weah pikin na fire oh.... |
See Pulisic worwor freekick. I think they said anyone with Chelsea players in this World Cup should drop them..... ![]() Abeg oh, na joke.... angry people full dis stadium. |
Nirvana101:That has always been the basis of my selecting Portugal time and again, as they have perhaps the largest squad in world football but they just keep on disappointing at the finishing line. The big question has always been: is Portugal better without CR7 or not. Selection is their Achilles Heel. Santos just has to know his selection customized to the opposition he faces. He doesn't always get it right. Even Brazil I back, like you said can hit a landmine and crash. World Cups are just notoriously hard to call. |
Nirvana101:Oga, he turned the ball over time and again in that midfield. You too forget the pass to the goal. That was all he played well. Holland was just lucky Senegal played with an almost false 9 situation and could not punish the Dutch turnovers in midfield but they clearly dominated the midfield for most of the game. Watch it again . I just used Barca because I wanted to be specific about the De Jong I was reffing. I don't do nonsensical, childish club bric-bats. I am beyond that. |
Timijo:I rather disagree. The goals were hard to defend but he did not do his best. His decision making is his Achilles Heel. |
Nirvana101:I have backed Portugal enough biko. They have issues whenever it matters and I'm looking elsewhere this time to rest with my adopted soccer country, Brazil. |
Nirvana101:I didn't watch the England game but what I am seeing of the Dutch is really poor. I was surprised. Perhaps nerves as per the opening game but no pace, no precision, no incisiveness and hardly, hardly any cutting edge on-the-ball skills to compensate. Traditional Dutch teams have zero problems holding the ball. This one could hardly put five passes together... They have to use Depay from the get go against more competent teams or else. And Barca's De Jong was just rubbish in the middle. He will be overun easily by better technicians. |
If this is Africa's best foot forward then soccer on this continent is not growing. This poor, poor Dutch side still managed to soccer punch them twice. Ridiculous. |
Ray07:Thy should not try that. They are not good in transition so far. Luckily the Dutch are not quick at all. They look tired. |
Senator777:Holland is damn lucky he is not here. |
Halftime. Very even. But my oh my has the Netherlands deteriorated in terms of player quality. These ones are so slow, close control, dribbling... non existent. This is not the Netherlands we used to know. Gakpo, Bergwijn, Dumfries are no where near the standards of yesteryears. This was the team that brought total football to the world and in one of their greats the domineering philosophy of tiki-taka to Spain. Must be turning in his grave at this limp performance. Not a single classy move in 45minutes. |
You just get a sense that the Dutch are a touch more nervy... |
Evenly matched so far. |
Over to Holland, perennial 'nearlies'. Will be a great contest. |
Angelfrost:Can't see ol' Arry's name on the score sheet. What happened. Didn't he play well. And I thought he will be in the running for the golden ball this time around. These kind of matches are where you charge ahead in the goalador race. |
ModCaller:Yes sir. That is exactly what you speak. Any by the way it is the language of tourism, language of transportation, language of business, language of almost everything cross border. You simply cannot aspire to lead anything internationally without a command of english. Be angry or not. It's not my fault. I don't know what Spain and France were doing when England was colonizing everything. |
Carot:Love to be. Learning never ends. |
Swanzi:Ah, ah. Then what is left. |
Alpharey:This is what I often talk about 'the problem' of Nigeria that only restructuring can solve. Everyone wants, knows that tribe and religion is the bane of our development and must be put aside for us to move forward but just how to hang this bad habit is the problem. How to bell the cat. Who will cede his 'rights' to power in favour of the so called 'performance' candidate when it is the 'turn' of his tribesmen or religious brotherhood. That is the challenge. RMK doesn't want it to matter now but it mattered to him in 2015. See the wahala of Nigeria. And until we collectively agree to establish a fair set of rules (the process of which is called restructuring) to govern our co existence then these costly schisms will continue. Without restructuring we will never choose leadership that is qualitative, acceptable and free of bitter sentiment, all of which anchors this country firmly. |
Not late for that. Just meet, decide and ask supporters who to vote for on the day. If successful you can then switch roles in 2027. You are both relatively young. I like the freedom of choice multiparty politics brings but in practice in most parts it often leads to runoffs, bitter compromises, messy governments and heightened sense of betrayal at every juncture leading to impeachments and so on, as typical in Italy, Israel, Brazil amongst others. Not good for a growing democracy. But here we are. As long as political parties love their strong men and will not accommodate internal diversity then alphabet elections will continue until all combinations are exhausted and we start using latin, russian or japanese lettering. |
England 3 up. Not unexpected. Their challenges usually start at the quarters. |
