Politics › Re: 2015 Exchange Between Professor Chukwuma Soludo And Peter Obi by Reference(m): 8:26am On Nov 15, 2022
Fiscus105:
To be fair to ourselves, Obi would have better as "Finance Minister", "Director Generals of Budget office" or "Debt Management Office" rather than President.

Apart from macro or microeconomics factors.

The nature of Nigeria people and kind of politics of tribalism and religion we are playing, I doubt if Obi will be able to govern successfully.
And where has all the 'successful' governing brought Nigeria since 1999. How many indices of life and living are better today than in 1999 to make the pathway we have taken so far the right one and the one we ought to continue.

If Nigeria was successful and her citizens were not fleeing in record numbers I will agree that this 'crazy', maverick system that Obi presents which scares people silly is utterly repugnant.

But unfortunately the system we practice is not and if we vote for a continuity then exactly what do we expect.

For the definition of madness demands we examine the leading candidates as to which of them is furthest from the status quo. Which of them will discontinue the continuity.

But this is Nigeria, here we are again. Ground hog. We did not get here by mistake because we consciously made the decision in 2015 despite overwhelming evidence that it will take us to where we are today. We said so, warned so in 2014 and Nigerians managed to craft their way into the experiences they suffer today but are willing, determined to extend for another decade or so. Just unbelievable.

These are the young people is other societies crafting their nations into workable entities because they have no other country to run to.

Here the people mess up theirs and this is the result. A mentality so bereft of what it takes to build viable things they jump from the proverbial frying pan into the fire.

Another opportunity to change the country comes up in a few months and look at how Nigerians especially the youth, the supposed agents of change are completely bereft of any ideas on how to move this country forward.

Spending all their energies on worthless, destructive dialogues all over the place on the name of supporting or opposing when they should be planning and crafting the Nigeria they want to prosper in.

You will all be served according to your inability to establish good governance through this failed experiment called democracy. Then run mindlessly to foregn countries for more sob stories. Continue wasting your time and your lives.

So because he can't win he shouldn't contest to change the narrative.

I don't understand how these so called intellectuals think.
If all the benefits of 23 years of 5th Republic democracy spread over 6 general elections is about winning and losing and not developing the country through a competition of ideas and philosophies then I cannot see the point and benefit to Nigerians.

Whenever we progress down the road of error such as this let us take a minute to sum the amount of resources running in to trillions spent on this so called democracy and pointless elections since we insist it is all about winning and losing and no more.

The reasons all these are news is because we rather like and prefer to advance such things than build institutions.

At the end of the day I have never seen a mouse caught in a trap by its tail for it will gladly give up that tail to save it's life.

Leave all these stories folks and face institution building. In this case let us build our democracy first based on solid principles and it will take care of it's tools. We won't have to be doing all these mouse trapping that at the end will probably not succeed in it's intentions.

Arsenal lost to man utd as a result of partey absent, if partey get injured that's the end of Arsenal run.
They should buy this Palinha guy for Fulham. The guy is 100 percent combative and looks sharper than Partey.

If removing the PDP in 2015 due to poor governance was the right decision what makes removing the APC in 2023 over an even worse performance a wrong or bad one.

Democracy as an instrument for the nation's survival is at stake here and Nigerians will be deciding whether they are sincerely desperate to make the country work or not.

How would you prefer he be played?
As a 9.... not a 9 and a half or 10. We want strikers to move to create angles for easy passes to them but when the movement becomes excessive then it becomes more difficult to craft chances particularly quick blind passes strikers like around the box.

Too early for this bro. Just one bad game, even great premeir league strikers like Alan Shearer, Henry, Aguero etc were completely shut out in some games.
That is exactly what I am saying. You need to hear the hype about this guy a month ago. Like he will score a gazillion goals this season. Glen Hoddle was even saying something like 60 goals in the Premiership based on early goal ratio.... like all other teams are there to watch him play.

They forget soccer is a team game and your players have to be in form constantly for you to score constantly and other team.msnagers will sooner or later figure you out.

At the end of that day what matters is not the number but the importance of such goals to the overall project, the aims of he club to win things. That is a players worth.

Oga, He is a Spanish International and if you read his story and his club moves were all aimed at the world cup.

I didn't say he is in the squad but the injury essentially has ended all hopes Mr. Argumentator.

Yeah, Deulofeu just went down on his ankle in the 24th minute against Napoli and appears his World Cup is over. The guy was in tears, totally inconsolable. Pity.
Damn FIFA and their inordinate love affair with arab petro dollars.

There ought to even be a rule against using world cup bound players in club matches this close to the tournament...!

Imagine a whole Sadio Mane at the risk of missing out of the World cup.

Why can't these teams use non-world cup players?!!
Soccer teams are businesses. They are not interested in national team projects. As a matter of fact they hate national calls though they benefit commercially from it.
