LagosIsForIgbos: Are you saying pigdin English speakers are trash? No sir. Pidgin is a form of english with deep roots going back many years before you or I existed. Nothing wrong with it. Just another west african language. What I am saying is that I am mono lingual, that's all. I don't speak it. I don't particularly like it and I feel that as long as english remains the language of the world it's purest form is what I should be speaking to the best of my ability. |

Samueltemi337: English Na your language? Yes. It is the language of my birth and growth. Nothing else was spoken in my home absolutely. And I went to Federal institutions where nothing else was spoken and no other language accepted. So I don't speak any other thing. Never have. Heard pidgin first in my university but not so good in it till now. So you can imagine I don't have an accent. |

Hmmm, I don't know what the stats are as to the number of folks that have killed themselves there particularly leaping off the bridge into the murky depths... but it is only a matter of time before the bridge becomes haunted and ghostly, ghoulish encounters emerge if nothing is done to stop the carnage and 'cleanse' the place.... |

I wonder who gave them the stupid idea of using pidgin language in the commentary of this match Two pidgin english channels yesterday for that matter. Very embarrassing. Not watching this match but there is a pure english channel available for quality reportage. |

Doyou2019: They were African champions before 2010, and even beat former champions, France ,in that same 2010 World Cup. My definition of a footballing nation is one with a deeper history and pedigree than that. The fact that they have not made any serious progress since then as opposed to their exploits in say rugby or cricket is telling. Even our beloved country, Nigeria is gradually withdrawing from the comity of footballing nations. |

It's more about the current and future business the worldcup will pave way for their country. But they are eroding that by the negative publicity around their cultural biases. |

This should be the poorest opening match of a world cup ever, by a country mile. FIFA should never make this kind of mistake again or risk damaging it's brand.
If it has to give the hosting rights to a severely lower ranked, handicapped country it should schedule their opening match to the second or third day of play.
Many neutral fans already angered by the odd tournament schedule will really be pissed.
Many folks only have the weekend to watch live matches and will want better so this poor team should have been scheduled for 8 am tomorrow morning when most folks are at work and care less.
Senegal v Holland should have been a better weekend treat. |

The public should help the police through the Legislature to unionize. And all these will stop. They should have rights to work in dignity and safe from abuse.
It will also enable them raise the quality of service delivery. |

The northern establishment will see that it doesn't happen anytime in the future. They are are not democratic purists up there and will see his insolence as a running threat to their hegemony. 99thEnemy: Holland and Senegal still dey there the wait for their 3 points Senegal should be careful. I can understand that Holland may steam roll them but the typical African hard tackling will only fall into FIFA's hand, desperate to see the hosts last as long as possible. My only hope is that Arabs love soccer and love the superstars that will grace the world cup and even if they exit early the stadiums may not entirely empty out since lots of foreign fans are not going due to the social restrictions. |

Rayd502: Put the blame on Platini them. Van Gaal was very clear about this. That the World Cup should be hosted by 'footballing' countries. I guess it is a curious case of employers asking for experience in an economy where jobs are scarce. How will Qatar ever become a 'footballing' country if they are not helped to play the best. Ordinarily they will never ever qualify for a FIFA senior event as the Asian Confederation is a huge one with far better teams in it. |

Atiku Abubakar will still win the upcoming General Elections without their help...
The G5 States will still remain in the PDP column and the electorates will vote for Atiku Abubakar and PDP candidates at all levels.
The election results will shock them and they will go into Political Oblivion and Irrelevance. Learn to negotiate, give and take. It can only make you guys stronger. That is the salt of democracy. If you support 'strong manism', you breed a dictator that WILL end up consuming everyone else. |
