Thierry Henry

And Haaland will join that group of great strikers not some heavenly god that will knock teams silly and bust records mercilessly that some are projecting, including experienced Premiership punters surprisingly. The hype was too much.

Now back to the scintillating Napoli and the latest instalment of dishing pain in Serie A.

Follow the money....except if it is all lost. But if the state's purse is lean because of the airport built by his predecessor (which I suspect is the case) then he should start there to make it generate income even if it was not his vision.

In the mean while he run these projects on a need basis and using direct labour to save costs and bridge the deficit. Let the unemployed youth take up the labour challenge for a token and material stockists and equipment lessors can be sold bonds and coupons to provide the resources.

I wish it was not true that most Nigerians are opposed to subsidy removal...maybe we could have had the thing removed since.

But like I said...open a thread on this site, and argue for subsidy removal. Them go pepper you well well.

Subsides are, like Kolawole Simon said in this day...our entitlement. It is also the only thing that the corrupt rich and the suffering poor agree is in their 'interest', when really it isn't.
Oga. A thread on this site IS NOT THE REALITY OF NIGERIA. Government is doing worse things than that presently and nothing,. absolutely nothing is happening. Nigerians are not fools. They know what good and bad government is. They know they are limited by the sentiments they play.

Fuel subsidy and the devalued naira, which is worse.? The naira has fallen by almost 400 percent since this government came in, what has happened, nothing. People out there are still prepared to vote the government back.

The government in next year's budget intends to continue fuelling inflation by funding legacy projects of no macro economic benefits whatsoever, who has said no. Is there anything they desperately wanted to do they have not done to damage this country....

I know this government in and out and know their body language when they want to do a thing. They have not made any attempt whatsoever to remove subsidies. Sound bites by the Minister of Finance and Minister of State Petroleum is all we have heard for 7 years.

The GEJ government did far more than that in trying to stop the rot. Let us see what the next government will do.

Because most Nigerians are opposed to subsidy removal. That is why no Nigerian leader, not even Abacha , has completely removed fuel subsides. All they do is partial removal from time to time...and that is because cold reality forces their hands.

It is a cold fact of life.

Yes, Buhari too opposed subsidy removal...I am not going to deny that, and I am not his supporter, nor was I gej supporter...but the fact is, most Nigerians are opposed to subsidy removal...because cheap fuel prices benefit the poor...as much as free subsidy money benefits the elite....at the long term expense of our economy.

Even the smuggling...a lot of small timers are into it. Not just the big tankers.

The idea that Buhari somehow misled millions of Nigerians into opposing GEJ subsidy removal is not possible. I was a subsidy supporter till 2011, when my eyes were opened. And yes it was by PDP government subsidy removal messages. Yes, I was tired of PDP, but not tired enough to actually listen.

But what most Nigerians saw was fuel was N65 now it is N140. Even if Buhari had kept quiet, they would have still marched.

At the end, no matter how much you try to explain on this site....Nigerians love subsidy. Buhari joined the bandwagon in 2012...even though he is also a hardcore supporter...as his actions in 2015 showed. It took the cold arm of economic reality to even force him to remove subsides partially in 2015, and again in 2018 and so on.

Even now, most people here want the subsidy to continue.

(Try arguing for fuel subsidy removal for a day on this site. You will be angry and frustrated for nothing at the end of the day).
It is simply not true that most Nigerians are opposed to fuel subsidy removal. It is like saying most Nigerians are opposed to inflation or rising prices. Do they have a choice in any of these. Do they decide the factors that lead to these.

There is a conspiracy amongst those who personally benefit from the system to create fear and thus misinform the citizens (who have no say whatsoever in the way government operates) about the need to end it.

If subsidy is removed today it is still the same government this time through trade unions that will oppose it. And these people remain less than 5 percent of the population and by extension less than 5 percent of the consumers of petrol. The 95 percent who have not opposed the reckless spendings of government from wanton loans, to build billion naira offices and buy million naira dogs will still not be able to oppose fuel price increases. That is the simple truth.

But someone somewhere in the corridors is holding back the removals and hiding behind the imaginary threat. I'm sorry but I simply don't buy that.

There are people out there that have been buying PMS for 300, 400 almost all year. Abuja residents have been buying PMS for 200, 250 for weeks on end and scarcity has been more or less constant since February. Has the government fallen?

There was fuel smuggling under GEJ as well as such sharp practices like collecting subsidy for fuel not imported....

GEJ did try to stop all that by removing subsidy completely (it was sold as partial...but it was far more thorough). Nigerians, including many of you his supporters , said no.
The man wanted to remove subsidy, period. The principal opposition to that was political and championed by the present ruling party and it's promoters. So don't try and twist history. We were all here.

What do you mean by 'many of you his supporters'. We always love to play the sentimental card and it does no good.

Now that this government has seen the light why has it not summoned the courage to remove it. Isn't is clear that they are trapped by their own propaganda and cannot sacrifice whatever is left of their tattered popularity for proper order.

Life2020:
Hi, first I want to thank you all for your advise the last time i was here.

The last time I brought up my problems here, I vented out about how my husband is being a total pain in the ass.

The problem is one, he's cheating on me with several girls and still want to have sex with me but i refused stating that until he does a full STD test we are not having sex, simply put i need to Know that he is STD free before we have sex again.

Two, he's never at home, sometimes for two weeks he stays in hostels with girls, partying and spending his money, at first i tried to understand him because we did marry young, i felt that maybe he misses having his Independence, so at first i said nothing until it got worse. I now feel like a single mom, i do everything, the children don't even know anything about their dad, they see him as a stranger now, he's always cool towards them and i don't like it, have told him several times that i want the children to bound with him, i need them to have a good relationship with their father and have even advised him to take them out, maybe to a theme park or anything really but he has refused stating that he's busy.

Thirdly he body shames me, telling me that i look like a clown, I'm fit, it's not like I'm dirty or anything i take care of myself, i know he's lying because i have admirers, like a lot of them, ever since i started making money and could afford to employ workers, i have done everything to make myself look good, i go to the gym, do facials and i make sure I look beautiful, honestly I don't know what's wrong with him.

I have come to the conclusion that he is only saying it to be mean to me, maybe as a means of control, honestly i think he thinks if he makes me feel less than i am, to make me think i have no where else to go.

Thirdly when we first got married, we both agreed that he will go to the university first then later, i will also attend, after finishing his university education he couldn't find a job so i gave him two of my lands to start a business, he because successful in the business and his now lavishing the money. I have a farming business, it's very successful, with it i have many lands and i built the home me and my husband live in, ever since he started making money i advised him to build his own house but he has refused, instead he bought a fancy car, i want to build an estate so that i can have another source for revenue but for one reason or other, my husband is advising me against it.

Now back to me wanting to attend the university, i want to study accounting so that i can take my business to a new level but my husband has refused saying that he wants more babies, we already have twins (two lovely girls). i told him later, after I finish my university degree and our girls are a little bit older, we will have more kids

Now back to the present day, have decided I'm kicking my husband out. Recently, I noticed he was always at home, I was happy but surprised, I thought he had changed. I decided we need to spend time together as a family, I was even planning on us going on a vacation, give my children a life I wasn't opportune to live, I talked to him about it, we made plans, he agreed to go for a full STD test. I was happy
little did I know that my so called husband has fathered another child outside our marriage, he told me this himself, saying all sorts of nonsense on how I should advise the girl to abort it so that we can be one big happy family, I just looked at him, I haven't said anything to him in days. But I have decided that I'm kicking him out. I want to do this in a way that it doesn't affect my children, I really want them to build a relationship with their dad but as for me I clocked out of this marriage a long time ago.

I was advised by my a friend to make a video while I kick him out but I'm not going to do, he's till the father of my child, and I don't want my children to grow up and find those videos
honestly I just need emotional support while I go through this divorce.
Godless homes, Godless lives.... just pain afer pain after pain...

You can have everything else, but that which matters most, peace....

Only industrialisation can break poverty. Are we not fed up with a resource based economy in which we have no control whatsoever on trade, prices , etc.

I was still a child when I began to think that if crude oil prices are controlled by buyers abroad why has heaven not allowed us control the price of automobiles that consume the stuff.

They tell us how much our cocoa and rubber is worth and then tell us how much we buy their chocolate and tyres. Is that not enough reason to start making things.

Leave all these nonsensical mineral things abeg. It only brings wars, environmental problems, wanton corruption and structural laziness amongst the populace. It erodes creativity and resourcefulness.

South Africa, Congo, Chile are some of the richest mineral based states in the world but where poverty is highly domiciled. Japan on the other hand practically has nothing under the ground except earthquakes yet....

Telling individuals to register their businesses with huge amount of money greater than their capitals, forcing them to close shops and telling them leave Ghana. Like Nigeria did in the 70's under Murtala and OBJ's indigenisation policy in support of the anti apartheid quest. A whole chunk of industry was lost. Today we are running around looking for foreign investors.

Nigeria has never had visionary leadership or been governed by truly knowledgeable people.

Chief. Engineering is a huge field. You have to be specific. No nation is dominant over the entire spectrum for many reasons. So the argument is highly subjective until details are available.

Just like the popular related argument of who makes the best cars (automobiles). The next question will then be what the definition or criteria for 'best' is.

No sir. Heavy engineering has left Germany since the 70's. Almost all the metals are dominated by the Chinese including rare earth ores, can you imagine.

While engineering works and products are dominated by Koreans and Japanese shops. Even European countries and their biggest firms have set up shop there. Ship building, drilling rigs, and all the real big stuff are made in Asia now.

In Europe, there are so many of these organizations soliciting their citizens to donate while they display this poor Africa kids. I engaged with one of them and from my findings they are doing it for their own gain.
Does Africa need these intervention funds or not. That is the question. If it does not then the 'fraud' will not exist.

I am listening to the morning news right now and a certain minister is proudly declaring how the FIRS is to build an 18 billion naira office in Lagos to save 4 billion naira in rent and will go ahead to procure a 250 house estate for staff who presently live in their offices and lodge in hotels.

That is the problem. A government completely detached from the governed. It has billions to spend on itself, not the people. Whereas those they borrow from govern their nations equitably.

That is where all the anger and bile should be directed because for as long as poverty is manufactured in the third world in industrial quantities there will be trade in misery.
