caprini1:Hahahaha... that is all I love to hear. Just listen to the banter as the kick-off approaches, and when the whistle goes for half or full time. You go laugh taya. Incredible world play. Just give it to the English and marketing. Love it. |
Been out and about in Abuja since the advisory and haven't see any 'heightened security presence'. I guess the government is speaking about another country. |
Roll over Liverpool and other pretenders for the team of the moment, Napoli. It has been a long, long while since I have seen a team so slick, smooth and savoury.... delightful soccer they are playing and on present form will dismantle any team out there. I just hope they have the endurance to match their well oiled machine. |
Same thing they said about candidate Buhari in 2014... it is his right not to grant interviews, it is his right not to debate, it is his right to speak to foreign media only, and on and on they vented. Seven years later I hope we can see the effect of granting a job and employing a person without an interview. We can clearly see, feel and suffer the things that were not said those long years ago. When citizens fight for the 'rights' of their leaders at the expense of the 'rights' of the led the result is locally fabricated dictatorship. If you cannot hear them now, when will you ever hear them. If you cannot ask them unscripted questions now, is it when they are surrounded by the armed forces and the DSS that you will attempt to 'embarrass' them? Without solid interviews, extracting iron clad commitments, folks, how do you score such a candidate and pass him fit for the kitchen.... of course many 'dundees' masquerading as citizens will vote based on a hope and a prayer, after all that is all sentiments can give. |
Nice one. You just wished this was started after independence. By now it will just be upgrades and maintenance. Visionary leadership is critical to development. |
Kobicove:Until we take the reins of government from the charlatans presently running it aground. |
reuben81:Thank you. And the government is busy screaming in silence on this matter while the citizens they claim to lead are suffering immensely. |
GratefulSoul27:After a week and a half this was discounted. Moreover there are alternative roads into Abuja from the south and it doesn't take three weeks to find them. I buy all my gasoline from Nasarawa state at a premium for now. I cannot have my cars damaged in rowdy fuel queues. |
Just another proof that Laliga is just a two horse race, Madrid, Barca and 18 fillers. For how can you have a manager leave a so called well established club for a chronic struggler and mid table mediocre in Villa. Little wonder someone of Pochettino's quality prefers to remain furlough than head to Spain if it not to Real or Barca. |
Better bin this 'offering' to the gods of corruption. It destroys spiritual DNA you know.... ![]() |
MasterJayJay:Don't mind failed citizens. That cannot command basic knowledge that will free them of their chains. Comparing an economic island with a single shaky crude oil bridge to the rest of the world with one that produces everything it consumes including the oil we boast about in far greater abundance and exports everything including petroleum products is just juvenile. That is why it is okay for them to have semi-literate fellows rule over them. But what do we do.... they have PVC's. |
Damn Clickbait. Was expecting some truly innovative design but I guess riding on the BMW badge is all that matters to them. Disappointing. Looks like every other phone out there. |
socialmediaman:Very silly individual.... ![]() He cannot relate this with the fact that those who cannot struggle to rise above water will dive to the dark depths of criminality. He doesn't realise that today's poverty is tomorrows escalating violent crimes to which no one without God's help will not escape. They are so dumb that they cannot relate their actions with their experiences. Failed citizens, every one of them. |
lhordspy:Better sit down and stop trying to convince people to share your chains. Not everyone is a slave to those who willingly accepted the job to lead. Yes, nobody forced them to stand for election so nobody should pity them. You will be a failed citizen if you cannot correct the man you employed and pay such astronomical wages and privileges to do the simple things of life in service to you. The doors of government is still open to them. If they cannot handle the country they should quit, simple. |
deavicky:I am absolutely certain that if he can put her on such a salary, she will be gone in a flash. Money is their problem not house and food particularly for the kids is her priority. They all know he earns on the go (from the report that he pays for food daily) and that is why to be catered for they reasoned that they had to move in. And that is why for him and them the priority will be to get the woman earning something no matter how small from where they stand. Then the food bills will fall and she will suddenly desire to 'be free'. All humans desire liberty and I an sure that once she can feed her kids she will look for a roof over her head as her second priority. She will equally be embarrassed and stressed enough to know that time is ticking. |
Lived there for quite a while. The streets sure do not look recognizable which is refreshing... but the skyline of any major city is the true factor of development and prosperity.... that is what the people are able to build and develop for themselves. And from those pictures I honestly cannot see any (what I call) real progress. The former 'Bank of the North' tower which was built when I was there (and I frequently visited to see my aunt on the 9th floor), the African International Bank Building along Ibrahim Taiwo and just besides Isiaku Rabiu's Head office are two examples of landmarks which stand in isolation for the past 3 decades. Honestly, Nigeria as a country is just limping along, but Nigerians as a citizenry are not doing well at all. And if we put just a fraction of the effort used in white washing average leadership qualities into advocacy for real development, we will see true prosperity and organic growth in the state and the nation. What happens when all the oil revenue and 'allocation economy' ends. |
Of course practice builds capability. The US has not been involved in any war against an armed military since the Iraqi Gulf War over 30 years ago and this breeds complacency. That is why the Marine Corps rates the best, because they have carried the bulk of the skirmishes after Sadaam's government fell and all through the campaigns in Afghanistan. Peace has been the most debilitating thing to an armed forces since the era of the Roman Empire and its powerful militaries under the Caesars. |
isaiah4life:Neither will you know who 'cooked' it in a restaurant. |
MeaslesMumpsRub:Hmmm.... will probably cost a few billions... Well, the Lagos taxpayer will gladly pick the tab.... afterall the biggest economy in Africa has always bailed Nigeria out. |
lomprico:What is the meaning of this? Rent an apartment for a person of no income? Will the floors and ceilings feed the family? She came from somewhere so accomodation was not the primary concern but feeding. The inlaw came to be catered for. And the only solution to this is additional income and getting her to earn a keep should be the condition for continued boarding. |
wasuka14:....Migrants indeed... ![]() But on a serious note, you need help, fast. To cut your bills, one or both the women have to start earning income and fast. Start from where you are. Take them to work/your shop and find something for them to do in that environment. The other adult can care for the kids, if they are kids indeed. |
Angelfrost:Just irritating football abeg. Since the second half all they were doing was side to side in the defence and even Saliba almost gifted them a goal. That is not how to win. Anyay, can't wait for Roma v Napoli. I want to see an exciting team that attacks for 95 minutes a match. |
Arteta got has tactics all wrong here. They had the upper hand and should have pressed home their advantage after the goal was scored when the Southampton midfield was being overrun and their defenders jittery but he decided to play containment football and this is the result. Southampton has grown more confident. Guess he still has some learning to do from Pep, and perhaps he should watch Real Madrid for a while and learn to play ball for the 90 minutes of a match. They cannot win the title or hang onto the top four on the back of solitary goals. |
In the order you write it, absolutely no. It is impossible. But the other way round asking that, can a Christian become a political leader?, the answer is a resounding, yes. And the Bible abounds with many examples, their lives, their times, their origins and their ends, enough material to follow the right paths and avoid the minefields. The Bible is a complete encyclopedia of the right way to political leadership. |
The average Nigerian character will ensure that an equilibrium is reached in the near future where it will be safer and better to remain in Nigeria. We have simply ruined ourselves, our reputation and our passport. She is merely a victim of us.... all of us. |
There is something about these Piaggios' that is just disconcerting. Right, the design of the airframe and unique propulsion system is tried and tested, but.... I have never felt entirely convinced. If it was that superior why isn't everyone using it. |
When there are challenging issues in any locality, be it security, the environment or others you see foreign governments issuing travel advisories detailing caution or at the extreme banning movement. Why is the Nigerian government not issuing same with regards to these hotspots where recurring incidents of violence have taken place. Even folks who do not live anywhere near there know that the Auchi axis has been a hot zone for a couple of years now and if the government had an advisory on that area the police escorts will have been in their right to refuse an order to escort a VIP there. Same thing that happened with the Abuja-Kaduna train abductions. The area was hot for months prior and the government pretended that travellers were safe, playing Russian Roulette with the lives of citizens. I cannot understand how we can be so careless and incompetent about grave issues affecting us. Such a pity. |
My heart really goes out to the families of the slaon security personnel and other bystanders caught in the attack. I think VIP escort by the police should be halted immediately and discontinued until a proper framework is fashioned that will save lives and reduce carnage. In the meanwhile we seriously need an introspection into the way we run society and the huge disparity between the haves and the have nots. The vulgar display of wealth and all it's trappings in the midst of grinding poverty is fuelling criminality and as the gap widens so the reactions become more brazen. Just a pity that the poor on the right side of the law are always the victims. |
I have told you folks repeatedly. Global warming, polar ice melting at record levels releasing catastrophic amounts of moisture into the oceans to fuel precipitation means all coastal habitations from Badagry, Lekki Peninsula, Lagos Island on the west right across to most parts of Bayelsa and Rivers state will become unlivable in another 50 years.... because the world will not be able to cut is use of fossil fuels on time. |
Age grade soccer no longer holds any appeal to me. Since the days of Nduka Ugbade the failure to translate the various age grade cup results into proper World Cup performances that matter calls into question the fidelity of the exercise. Not the integrity of the teams as some will be hasty to postulate but the intent and purpose of the whole exercise both by FIFA the originators and the NFF, then NFF, that is was and should be a developmental project. We sure have done projects but left the developmental side in the bin. Some of the teams and players we beat and bested in the past have gone on to great things for club and country. None of our senior national teams both male and female can categorically say today they are positively impacted by this tournament series. We should begin to seriously question our vision, motives, programs and management structures with a view to lining up our ducks properly. |
aku626:Smart fellow. You know what leadership is all about. Not some retarded so called citizens sunk in the mud of sentiment. Attention is what the victims need above all. It is a force multiplier and will provoke action from those who should be responsible. Those who are hoping that failed citizens will help them cover their backsides by mudding the waters by crass sentiment. |
mrcompatriot:Your talking about it in jealous anger is one. And hopefully this horse kick will reverberate in the corridors of power where only grave silence on this disaster is heard. If he didn't go there will you care. |
